They Built This Yacht From SOLAR PANELS!!!

ladies and gents welcome to another video today we're taking a look at this beautiful 80-foot Sun Reef Eco and we are joined by Arthur who is a PR manager from Sun reef and he's going to tell us a bit about the boat and the boats concept the idea behind the boat so Arthur thank you so much for joining us my pleasure it's uh obviously a cracking boat very interesting from you know a yachting fan so give us the uh the low down what we spoke to all about and what potential customers can expect yeah so today we're about to visit the uh sunroof 80 Eco which is a solar electric catamaran and basically quite a unique boat so it uses technology that no one else in the industry has right and what you see later on I'll show you it has the integrated solar panels so what it is it's a technology that is patented we're the only ones using it and we actually found a way to integrate the solar panels into every single composite structure on board that means we have loads of solar power on board and we can put solar panels pretty much everywhere and see including the Mast wow that's that's incredible fantastic and then yes and then otherwise we've put a lot of effort into creating the boat that is as energy efficient as possible yeah and kind of guarantees the cleanest cruising experience because that is the biggest Focus right now at Sun reef is to make the navigation experience clean and responsible and that's what the 60 that's what the 80 is all about fantastic so tell us a bit about how this pattern you said you have you know integrating the solar panels is it part of the structure or is it bonded on after the structure so yeah we found a way to integrate these I can't tell you exactly how it's done because that's the company secret and that would put my life what I can tell you it's a solid as the composite itself so you can hit okay with a hammer and nothing will happen yeah and uh yeah so basically that's that's a unique technology and very happy to have that and you'll see later on it's not only the Halls it's also the super structure all the way through the Mast as well yeah so that means you have plenty of plenty of solar power and basically you know the idea is uh you know you sometimes you see those solar panels on boats and they're like fairly rigid and they use glass as support so they're also heavy yes right here we have ultra thin panels so they're much lighter again everything that you see in the industry and how are they in comparison to the efficiency to the power they can generate from like the hardest sort of ones that we know of yeah to what you guys so we use the most efficient cells in the industry so efficiency wise we're pretty much at the same level if not better wow because we have more yeah but uh what what is nice to highlight is that there there's also the weight Advantage right they're ultra thin absolutely very important yeah keep the weight down yeah so a question I know a lot of people are going to be asking you know typically with solar panels you'll have the solar panels in direct line with the sun above how efficient is it having these panels here on the whole because it's obviously along sideways yes so obviously we've been asked out a number of times so there's two things you also have to take into consideration uh in the morning uh you can have some sunlight from the side right that is one thing yeah and the other thing that people tend to forget is that the light also reflects on the water and then the reflection uh goes onto the solar panel okay the idea is to use every single you know available surface yes yeah every single surface to maximize the the solar efficiency fantastic well thank you for the intro should we have a step on board yeah absolutely sure great foreign the first thing I want to I want to show you uh first thing right away that you'll notice is the app platform right so this is custom designed and engineered by uh by sunreef lifting capacity can be up to 2 000 kilograms wow and what it does is you can see uh when you lower it once you've launched your tender obviously it's used to you know transfer the tender yeah once you lower it it doubles up as you know basically a bathing platform yeah it's like a bathing platform perfect for stunning for water sports yeah so that's amazing but you also put it up and you can put on the same level as the AFT cockpit so visually it extends area of the AFT chocolate which is already massive so when it comes up is it going is in line with the main deck is that right yes you can put it in line with the main deck and the slots we have down here is for swim ladder or no those International rails see those here right you can put them up here okay and you can secure the whole uh the whole area you can use it as a yeah basically a platform to just relax and now I understand yeah that's great fantastic okay thank you do it I've got a shower as well here look at this we're inside the uh ad cockpit of the sun Reef 80. obviously we are on a catamaran so it's it's a beanie it's beamy yeah it is it's nearly uh nearly 12 meters of beam uh so what it does and it really translates into massive lounging space in the after cockpit oh yeah I see that he got a nice big TV there as well as he's chilling here it's a nice TV you have a day bed here yep awesome nice dining space right here right here yeah any other wet bar over there okay so there's a fridge there as well yeah yeah okay very nice basically one of one of people's favorite place right because you're shielded from the Sun the wind yeah you have the views so obviously the uh the F cockpit is something amazing and on top of that you have to imagine when you put the platform up right so you can also go for let's say uh freestanding Furniture so you can let's say just move it away and kind of enjoy this whole Space you know extend it with the AFT platform yeah and say you need to I don't know organize a yoga class whatever you need the space you have plenty of space and all of this is just on one level that's incredible yeah and I notice up here on this particular model you've got it looks like a disco light it it is becomes like a dance floor once it's up and it becomes a bit of a party area the bean is unreal okay so uh another amazing thing about uh you know the uh the sun Reef 80 uh in general is that the transition from the main cockpit to the main Salon is it's you know zero threshold and it opens fully onto the salon room right here yeah it says all flushed together yeah so once it's all open up it probably fills like an even bigger space so one of the amazing things about the sunroof 80 right is how much how much space you have on board and uh you have a vast aft cockpit and then the transition to the main salons like super smooth and the sliding doors yeah you see how wide they open right that's incredible yeah such a cool space let's go in yeah let's go in make a way into here's the Beautiful wow yeah this is spectacular sometimes people think that you know when you're on a on a sustainable yacht then it means you know that necessarily there must be some kind of sacrifice somewhere some compromise and luxury that's still a sun Reef you have all the comfort that you find on a sunroof yacht so we've made every effort possible you know to uh to make it as energy efficient as possible but at the same time to offer the the level of comfort yeah and the luxury so you're not compromising on the luxury level Comfort absolutely so you get the best of both worlds absolutely yeah Okay so we've uh we've opened up doors you know fairly wide open we may want to close them uh afterwards but you can feel that the AC is working yeah uh this AC where again it's something that is quite unique in the industry we're the only catamaran Shipyard to use this specific type of air conditioning okay and what it does is that it saves a lot of energy I think close to 40 percent uh less than what is usually used the secret ingredient is the instead of using uh cooling liquid it uses gas and it's a lot lighter and a lot more efficient and yeah we're the only camera shifter to use that kind of AC okay bear in mind you know AC is one of the biggest uh energy consumers on board absolutely so yeah so that's that's a that's a big thing that's amazing that's incredible 40 I mean it's not Mickey it's not like five ten percent it's almost half yeah okay what do we think viewers let us know down in the comments box below pretty impressive this space is unreal [Music] so yeah so you've got the uh we were talking about the comfort and luxury on board right you can see there's almost too much lounging space inside the main Salon you have the panoramic glazing yeah uh and yes and the salon you have uh like those two large lounging yeah uh lounging surface and then this part of the song like towards the bow you have while it's like a bar area right so you have this piano here yeah uh by which by the way plays by itself right so if you push the right button I know if it's uh trying to make it work but uh wallet so you can actually pretend you're playing with your guests so in the meantime and you just impress your friends and you protecting yeah try to do that there you go oh there it is see oh and it's soft music that's really cool isn't it [Music] yeah wonderful okay so we're moving on to the uh bar so you have the pop-up TV here and wet bar again with the fridge ice maker you have your wine coolers here oh yes [Music] plenty of storage Great spot to entertain right right all your friends here and then you have your bar what a what a beautiful space to spend time let's just see all the lemons are ready for the Gin tonics of you yeah yeah oh there they are okay oh my goodness let's just we'll have to just locate the uh the bottles but I think they're here right yeah we go oh good sausage let's go glasses all right uh shall we have a look at the cabins maybe absolutely let's do it right still let's go [Music] foreign [Music] so how many cabins in total on board so this 780 has won master suite and three guest cabins right okay so four cab is entitled we're inside the master here yeah okay uh done a little sofa here uh just by your bag you have wireless charging so that's convenient uh over here you have walking dressing and you can see there's quite a lot of space in there right yeah and the finishings in here and I like this it's nice wow so we have also the uh the large window so you know Sun Reef has like these trademark uh triple Port lines yeah you could just you know immediately spot from afar but sometimes customers do request this larger window and uh we're happy to uh happy to do that yeah yeah and for for our customers like the interior do they have much say in their preferences is it all yeah it's there's total freedom it's total freedom really every time it's about just getting to know the owner getting to know the family seeing what they want to do with the boat do they want to shut her out or don't they or they're older people in the family or their kids you know yeah what their preferences are everything is taken into consideration and then uh then we start working on design so you build the file from the very bottom up yeah everything that can be customized as well yeah absolutely I guess through there we have the bathroom so this interesting this client has gone from more of a darker feel on board oh yeah oh yeah I know this out it's uh it's like a it's like a trend people like to keep it deliberately dark because it's so just soothing and relaxing right and up there you enjoy so much sunlight that when you go down into you just want the cool dots yes absolutely and then you're able to fully relax Ing and so this goes through into the VIP cabin is that sort of the state rooms downstairs right so you have your bathroom there yeah yeah so we can yeah it's another bath okay yeah it's another bathroom cloud and dark dark ceramic uh and again bed facing facing the window yeah and here you have those uh those Port lights right yeah yeah don't decide and then so how many well I guess everybody's different how many crew would you generally operate on this boat should you not have a Hands-On owner so it depends all depends on what you want to do with the boat with okay and have like the highest level of service you may want to have four to five right yeah on this specific Sun Reef 80 uh it's three to four okay and uh yeah yeah and they've got their accommodation forward or uh so it's both so it's both aft and forward okay all right foreign okay so these cabins would say are pretty much the same design pretty much the same slightly different you'll see the layout of the bathroom is slightly different since the galley is behind that one right right okay yeah yeah and also here you have the uh walking dressing right behind you and otherwise yes large window yeah bed and uh yeah loads of practical storage yeah I like all like the the materials you use on the you know the bulkheads on the deck heads as well so each and every time you know the customer they come up with their their own ideas yeah for designs sometimes they show up like pictures of you know home decors that they like and they would like us to uh to to to do something materials yeah yeah what do you want I might go through into the fourth and final guest cabin yeah let's move forward okay so then you've got you said so on the port side you've got the galley side in the same space in the app you have the crew area okay gotcha all right yeah so we have a look at the galley maybe yeah let's do it okay let's have a look at that look at the galley oh yeah so all cabins have their own AV Audio Visual systems music absolutely yeah skylights as well yes and that opens up to the main deck is it yes okay [Music] [Music] you're famous so the galley so again yes you have those uh the same Decor pretty much as a as in a whole boat like the relaxing uh relaxing uh color scheme yeah the natural feel of you know of the ceramic ceramic tiles and uh yeah basically just everything you need to provide you know the highest level of service for like fridges ovens dishwashers coffee machines coffee machines and then below decks you also have like loads of space yeah really lots of storage and storage space yeah you can't waste really yeah like additional fridges or sometimes when you cold stores down there as well yes Cold Storage down there sometimes people choose to have like a wine cellar there yeah all depends on what you want to uh most of you want to do but that's plenty of space yeah and then this will be I guess the crew mess area and the little crew mess yeah yeah so they can have a little space to to eat and chill for a bit it's a good size Galley for an 80 footer considering yeah it's a good sign a good workspace yeah and Incredibly fairly close to the uh to the art cockpit yeah so it's straight out to the right so the guests away you go and then uh some customers they also request the the sun Reef 70 that we're just playing in canned this year has a dumb waiter that goes from the kitchen from The Galley to the main salon and up to the fly bridge right okay yeah it'd also be convenient it's very convenient yeah great okay all right should we all right so I want to show you the uh I want to show you the battle Yeah of the book absolutely I didn't want to see that for yourself this watertight door here yeah big water tight door yeah fine guys look at the size and now we're on the office on the vouchers again you can see how large the boat is right and what is cool is that this place is like slightly sunken yes so when you say imagine you just sit here and the ball walks are pretty high yeah yeah it's all about privacy yeah absolutely and then of course if you don't want too much sun uh then you have the the car you can twist some carbon fillers in and you can stretch your sun awning over this space so this gets all shaded as well if you want to yeah that's a great idea so you see what you mean what you're saying earlier when you've got the whatever that's available surface you've got the solar panels as well yeah yeah you can see how curved this area is yeah yeah that's insane absolutely insane what an amazing space you got out here right let's cruise Along Watch the water Cruise you know trampolines are also amazing yeah yeah is it okay yeah I'll try it let's see well okay I'm gonna jump no no I've always been I'm always one of those guys I'm like just this thing goes wrong it's gonna happen with me no yeah it will it will always happen with me there'll be a million people and it's like it happened I go let's go boom yeah those are very solid yeah and then so anchoring you've got single single or dual anchors like single anchor I think yeah Anchorage and then the solar panels are also the boat sir oh and then I don't know if you can see it from here or not but uh yeah you have a nice shot of the uh of the solar panels in the mast it's actually how the the concept of integrating the soil kind of started is that uh the the company CEO had this uh had this idea to start with just maybe integrating them in the mast and then from there yeah then then you know he kind of decided to uh well let's just buy some solar cells and let's just experiment and yeah it took some time yeah but now we're able to do this it's incredible that's incredible great all right so have a look at the fly bridge right so the staircase up to the fly bridge yes let's go I like this nice wide staircase proper handrails this is off the scale this is something you know that people when when we have people coming uh to visit the the summary of 80 and when especially when we have people coming from monohors they realize you know how much how big a monohull would have to be to have that sort of flybridge yeah yeah you're looking at like what a 50 meter perine heavy or something like that so we get this kind of size and you've got bar BBQ yes that's the wet bar with a barbecue so again you have your fridges your ice makers here cool so you have your barbecue your guests here driving the boat cruising along so this space also can be turned into a huge day bad so you could that's a that's a height adjustable table so you put it down uh put some cushions over it you have a huge day bad yeah then you have your SunPass over there there's a lot going on on this flybridge but there's also designs where people keep the space like pretty much entirely open this is like right so far in a bar you know it all depends there's jacuzzis all sorts of design uh basically you can do anything you want you want yeah uh this this specific fly bridge here has a lot of features right so you have this little bar area sitting area and on top of that you've got the treadmills as well yeah if you want to do some workout and uh yeah in the lounging Space by the uh you know it's a full part yeah yeah oh it's cracking huh [Music] the control station yeah and then so to the um let's have a nice look at the marsh shall we what a space so interesting fact the masts are made by Sun Reef they're made in house or carbon oh this is a fully carbon fiber mask okay and with the with the solar panels integrated so this this solar panel technology you were saying earlier is patented so only you're the only boat company or company not even Boat Company in the world that can do this to yeah to integrate composite with that yes we're on a sailboat right uh you know we navigate a lot under sail and when we sail the propellers they keep turning you're not using your engine but they keep turning and you regenerate energy Yeah so basically the the 80 Eco not only generates energy through solar but there's also Hydro generation right right whatever you're sailing you're generating energy of course the faster you're sailing the more energy generates right right so you're getting energy from all angles oh yes yeah definitely yes on top of that you also enjoy like the you know the super quiet motoring experience really you know when you uh once you've tried the uh the electric engines you just don't want to go back back here really ultimately this is what you're looking for you know you're going out on a holiday last thing you want to hear is the Gen set and we'll smell the fumes smell the fumes the vibrations this is as silent as possible yeah this is just amazing yeah yeah and then the but do you know the information about the batteries and stuff yeah batteries what I can tell is uh again we uh they're Custom Engineered specifically for Sunrise again we're the only ones using them well okay and uh yeah they're uh apart from the the fact that they're very efficient they're also very light uh so battery density is very good and uh I think we're uh close to 30 percent lighter than the average uh system equipment industry wow so that's also very very important yeah there's a lot of efforts in uh in terms of you know Energy Efficiency weight efficiency yeah uh yeah and but but it's also worth highlighting is that it's an ongoing research we're always on the lookout for a new uh new things so you're constantly trying to find ways to improve making more eco-friendly more user-friendly absolutely so the information I'm giving you today you know we're just constantly working on making everything better and more efficient fantastic great say beautiful so these will be the throttles for the two electric motors then you have your screens also there's a nice floor camera up on the Mast so you have a view from the very top right when you maneuver where where exactly
