[Music] Tommy what do you think are the top nine trucks that will last forever and what do you think is number one of them list and it's not the Tacoma in this video we are going over the pickup trucks that are most likely to last over 200,000 miles and this is a study that was brought to you and analyzed by icy cars he looked at over fifteen point eight million cars and trucks sold in 2019 and this is a percentage list they put together other vehicles they go over 200,000 miles yep we're going to talk about trucks that go over 200k and then as a special bonus I've got another list here and these are trucks and SUVs that will actually make it to 300k exactly and like I said on this first list it's not the Tacoma that's number one so what's the group average here Tommy so the average for all models is 1.8 percent so that's 1.8 percent of specific models that hit 200 thousand miles and number 9 on our list of trucks is the GMC Canyon what's the percentage 0.8 percent yep so just point 8 percent of GMC canyons will do over two hundred thousand miles and that is well below the one point eight percent average so I have a hundred thousand trucks that's like 80 right eight hundred eight hundred okay it's still pretty tiny yeah yeah still pretty small yeah all right number eight of course is the sibling to the GMC Canyon it is the Chevy Colorado and unsurprisingly they will also last point eight percent of the time with the beans dude don't be afraid nice work strong work oh yeah keep it rolling keep rolling I'm making this turn to have the turkey especially because the rear end keeps kicking out yeah I know hopefully one of one person impressed if we stop that's what I thought too man now keep in mind that this list is looking at vehicle regardless of model year so these could be old truck sees could be newer generation trucks these are just specific marks at a lot new 3.6 liters these could be the old five or maybe old physanto exactly and number seven are lists is another make that has had many many generations that's of course the RAM 1500 according to iseecars 1.1 percent of those make it over to Newark a yeah that's still a tiny percentage yep and still below the average number six is the GMC Sierra 1500 at one point seven percent yeah once again a small number and well below well that well point one below the average it's got the carbon pro that basically a carbon fiber mixture that GMC says is the well toughest bed in the truck business I do this wrong I'm gonna break go for it yeah I'm not gonna do it wrong I'm not gonna break the roof or the glass here we go and do you think that trucks last longer than cars or do you think that cars last longer than trucks well I think it really depends on how they're used because typically your cars are not going to be used for towing or for hauling right where trucks are used in construction jobs an oil rig situation so there's a lot of different use cases for trucks but I also think that typically they use them for more than just oil reconstruction right stuck on trucks and oil rigs yeah I think probably more I'm going wrong certainly and keep in mind that this list is only analyzing a light-duty trucks so HD models are not included in the survey what's number five tell me so number five on our list is the first truck that beat the average that's the Ford f-150 1.9% lasting over 200,000 miles yeah and you know port says that that is the most popular truck ever well the best-selling truck for over 40 years same thing so it's good to see that it does outlast me average all right this is my starting final job try to set the speed at about [Applause] [Music] but surprisingly for all you Chevy fans what's number four number four is the Silverado 1500 coming in at two percent of trucks now this is a little bit interesting f-150 is really pushing the EcoBoost engines in the recent decade whereas GM's are still sticking tried-and-true with the old naturally aspirated v8 so as we go forward I'll be interested to see how this list of all as some of the newer truck to become older and start hitting those higher mileage numbers they saying that the turbocharged engines aren't gonna last as long as it normally aspirated well I'm not saying that but it certainly would be interesting to see how a smaller displacement higher pressure engine compares to kind of an old-school lumpy v8 alright now we are down to the top three and you think that number one would be a turret but it's not but number three certainly is yet number three perhaps unsurprisingly is the Tacoma at 2.5% of the time now what's interesting to me is 2 mm is a lot of mileage but it doesn't seem that high mileage for Tacoma so it's interesting that the study found that only 2.5 percent of new trucks sold last year were the Colemans with over to Newark a-all right and number two on that list is one of the oldest trucks on this list and what I mean by that is it was what designed like 12 years ago yep it's the Toyota Tundra at 2.9 maybe that's the reason that's on this list in such a high place of prominence and that's because it hasn't changed forever and under the hood there's no difference it's the same venerable and by that I mean relatively old 5.7 liter v8 that puts out 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque and what's it make it to Tommy so this is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission in the Toyota world this engine is called the 3 you are EFI nothing particularly special you know it's not a very fancy engine it doesn't have any turbochargers it's not some kind of weird alloy it's just a basic v8 but it works and it sounds glorious and a lot of you out there give the current tundra a lot of heck for being rather old and its design and engineering and lacking a lot of the features of some of the domestic competition but the tundra is built to last and this list proves it I mean it's basic it's not going to be the fastest truck and the most capable truck but it might very well be one of the longest lasting vehicles on the road yeah and now we're at number one Tommy and that is a complete surprise why don't you tell them what that is because this truck takes a lot of grief and maybe doesn't deserve it yep it's the Honda Ridgeline so 3% of trucks they surveyed were the ridge lines with over 200,000 miles so it's the longest lasting truck on this particular list and there could be a few reasons for that yeah I think it's because it doesn't have a low speed transfer case which means it's not great off-road and I think if you take a vehicle off-road and all these other trucks do have that you tend to bash it around a lot more which tends to break things but the ridge line is more of a street going truck than a let's say have Moab Boulder bashing I think there's more to that story yeah what do you think of this I mean the original Lane is also a lot less capable truck it's not a truck you'll typically see in fleets I mean a lot less capable it's beat let's define that it doesn't tow as much on the upside it's probably more comfortable on the highway right and and as a result of that I don't think they're using that heavy use situation very often I mean you're not gonna see contractors you think airplane is often or they just built much better than many of us suspect and certainly they are very well made and and this is keeping in mind the first generation Ridgeline as well which was pretty dead simple and been reliable now before we get to our bonus which are SUVs and trucks that last 300 thousand miles if you guys are interested in cars we actually did the same list for cars based on segments yeah and it's over add TfL car so go over TfL car and check it out if you want to see what the longest-lasting car is and i'm gonna give you a hint Tommy yeah the longest-lasting car is also the number one car on this top seven vehicles that will last 300k yep now if we look back at that list that we just did the two or thousand-mile benchmark there's a number one lasting vehicle 15.9% of these last over two hundred thousand miles which is crazy yeah so much bigger than even the original line at 3% yeah I know and then well it looks not spoil it let's let's just go right to it at number seven once again is the Toyota Tundra this time the group average is one point zero three so 0.03 percent of vehicles last over 300k according to the survey and the tundra comes in at point two so significantly higher than the average and actually the next few that we will mention are all about point two so they're all about equal alright Tommy at number six we have the Toyota 4runner which is also at 0.2 percent in fact next for our point two percent and the 4runner is ubiquitous I mean you see them everywhere so it's another vehicle closely related to the Tacoma in construction once again naturally aspirated v6 or v8 engines depending on the year and if you take care of them and you don't fresh and do hard offroad they'll just keep going and going and based on the generation it's basically a Tacoma with the top depending on this right and they they are just so well made yeah having said that there were some Tacoma stud rust out yeah and even Brainard had the frame issues yeah that's true so there were certain years to look out for yeah alright if you're wondering where the American vehicles are there right now up number five four and three go for coming so the Yukon XL is suburban and the expedition and this one actually makes a lot of sense to me too because oftentimes especially the Yukon and the suburban are livery vehicles and they simply just get a ton a ton of miles put on them in a relatively short amount of time they're also typically well maintained because if your vehicle's entire job is to shuttle celebrities and people around it can't break down so it makes sense to me that these three are up next and once again very simple but very robust yeah I agree I mean if it's part of a fleet that it's gonna get maintained and if it gets maintained it's more likely to last longer having said that I'm not sure about celebrities because I've been in some of these old Yukon suburban expeditions that have been used as livery vehicles and their priests weekly squeaky and radley when you're pretty far from a celebrity - yes yes I'm just saying I've been in some ones that you know are wonderful the grave all right now before we get to two-in-one the number one thing you notice about every vehicle on this list they're all actually body-on-frame so I know that manufactures say the new unibody czar just as robust but there is something special about just having you know a ladder frame with the body on top of it because all top seven of these that are the most likely to reach tweeter Kate they're all pretty simple actually all the vehicles on both these lists are body-on-frame not the ridgeline except for the region language is number one yeah you just disproved 300k lists are all by everything yeah all right well what's at number two number two is a Toyota Sequoia so once again closely related to the Tundra 5.7 liter v8 in the newer ones point four percent so this is a big jump over point to double-double actually yeah double and super reliable all right and drumroll the number one vehicle on this list is the same number one vehicle that was on our cars list and this is the vehicle that is most likely to last 300,000 miles by the way like you said it was 15% in two hundred thousand yeah then what vehicle what percent is it so it's of course the Land Cruiser and 15% jumps down to one point five percent but one point five percent is still leaps and bounds bigger than the second runner-up which is 0.4 so the Land Cruiser you know we've talked about and and you know it's somewhat a speculation I think I'm not sure this is true but the rumor is that Toyota designed that vehicle for a service life of life of 25 years and certainly being at the top of this list it supports that claim and it's built in its own bespoke I suspect factory with the Lexus LX which is basically another vehicle that is not on this list which is interesting but what I find really interesting is that from 200,000 to 300,000 you go from 15% to 1.5 so if something happens between those last hundred thousand miles where you know a lot of significant portion of the Land Cruisers fall at a service yeah but I mean it's still amazing how much higher the Land Cruiser is than any other vehicle both the - turkey list and a feeder key list it really is a monster of reliability yeah and values used values or it's like that even with 20,000 miles you'll see them for 15 20 grand yeah we bought ours from 2008 for 25,000 then they had 150,000 miles on it which according to this list isn't even half life yep that's right alright guys if you want to know what cars last forever just click on the link below and check out that video and thanks for joining us remember check out TfL county FL truck t FL now TfL classics for more news views and real world reviews so which of these would you buy yeah definitely Land Cruiser yeah yep yeah I think so too you know that cruisers way cool see you next time ciao
