The Worst Truck Camping Fail Ever

morning everybody there is literally frost all over the ground it is cold it's 31 degrees 32 degrees day 3 of being broken down in the middle of nowhere i've got to get this truck fixed today [Music] [Music] so last night i worked on it well after dark get the top half of the engine pretty much removed and taken apart so it's getting really annoying but hopefully this hopefully i can fix it today we have to drive three hours back to town just to get a socket that's deep enough to get the job done so i just started the heater because it's cold i'm a little more comfortable in here obviously i've got heat and stuff so i'm awake doing stuff drinking coffee uploading videos and whatnot working on editing as soon as those boys are awake i need to get a ride to town i'm completely dependent on them good morning y'all it is uh balmy 33 degrees outside there's frost all over the grass this is day three of the breakdown i have the top half of my engine taken off and uh i have to drive all the way back in town three hours just to get a socket a little bit deeper than the one i bought yesterday i also have a ticket to red rocks my first time to red rocks ever to go watch uh two really fun bands in two days so we gotta get out of here [Music] all right it's uh about 9 30 it's time to go wake those boys up i figured they'd be down here by now phil and brian are so freaking awesome just to stick with me until this is all figured out this is day three and they're just chilling but at the same time they're not stressing and i definitely am i'm broke down literally in the middle of nowhere i'm way out of four wheel drive trail uh out a gnarly enough trail where a tow truck can't put my truck on it and drive out of here so i have to fix this so it's giving me a stress ball attack this is day three um supposed to be a red rocks in two days and uh if i can't fix it today like there's still another day or two of maybe waiting to get towed out who knows how long to fix it could be weeks or something crazy this might literally kill my whole trip so i want to get going get into town and get the part i need so i'm gonna do that so what i'm gonna do is drive up the hill on the one wheel which is a really sketchy one we'll ride and go see if those guys are ready to rally i just finished editing a video so that's cool so i'm trying to be productive well i'm waiting for them to wake up let's go ahead and connect to the one wheel the one wheel's got these special settings so i have to put on the setting called elevated so that i can climb this hill the setting lifts the nose of the one wheel up a little extra and rough really glad i have this one wheel i would not be uh able to get around at all or i would i'd just be hiking up a mountain it's a nice ride to about right up here and then it starts getting a little starts getting gnarlier rocky here right here [Applause] nope ain't happening keep in mind i'm at about 12 000 foot elevation right now so any walking i have to do i get winded really quick see if we can get started here again you guys can't tell how steep this hill is it's really steep and obviously the slower you go on something the harder it is to balance i've got about an hour a little over an hour drive just to get to the small town if they don't have a big enough socket then i have to go all the way to the big town which is two hours away so i want to get the ball rolling and i still gotta fix the truck when i get back the whole top of the engine is pretty much taken apart so that's going to take for a solid six hours put it back together and then it might not even work after that so uh now it's been broken down three days but yeah i'm about to go try the next thing in town there's a lot of hunters out here they just offered a ride up but it's probably about a ten percent grade so it takes everything the one wheel's got to get up it so there's my camp way down there maybe i'll fly the drone they've been camping up the mountain the last three days which makes it a little difficult to visit obviously oh god here we go oh that ride's such a what's up guys what's up can i talk you boys in their ride into town again yeah i just woke up nice getting some coffee on here yeah i know that's what i'm trying to do too i can't even think straight without my coffee most people don't even leave their room without their car their house i can't hear you over the stones hi truck house life youtubers this is phil from town to mob currently hand grinding my coffee beans why i don't know it's just kind of fun i like the noise and i think it tastes better put out all right i'm gonna head back down the hill on the wheel getting right in from phil today day three i'm gonna bring the sensor that i bought yesterday into town with me make sure it fits in the socket and uh come back and spend four or five hours under the hood trying to fix it and hopefully that works hey yo fellow you might want to call your uh dog you might want to call kodak there's the truck way down the hill we're gonna go back down and uh yeah i'm gonna mob into town with phil today as the plan okay here comes phil down the hill it's about 11 o'clock super late start but we're going he's going to give me a ride to town just to go get a socket here we go all right wallet the socket that wasn't big enough somehow to fit over this so i'm going to go get a bigger one and if this doesn't work i'm in big trouble boys and girls so here we go here we go i got a jeep gladiator ride along depressive view all right all the way back into town just to get a bigger socket than i bought yesterday just a little bigger yeah and they say size doesn't matter oh it does well it matters it'll ruin your night it'll ruin three nights yeah well you'll wear it all the time you wear it well thank you man seriously i'm freaking out besides since six in the morning i've been all night i've been broke down in remote places and in uvic before and things but not quite like this yeah like out of four-wheel drive trails yeah someone can't tell you out probably yeah and it's really you've been working on this thing like crazy to not be a diesel mechanic and work as much as you have on it like yeah it's not even bad man i'm not just saying too you know it's like i had one well it's like what else are you gonna do like you have to fix it i don't necessarily know what i'm doing but like my god i'm gonna figure it out yeah oh man i can't wait to hear that thing start up it's gonna happen today i feel like it's gonna happen see one thing a second that thing fires up i'm getting out of this trail dude yeah right off of this pizza i don't care about your camp spots we found cool news camp spots down there by the way sorry bro back to the road get to a towable area well my big thing now is like i want to get to this red rock show guys i've been wanting to go to red rocks for like 10 years so like yeah i've got my ticket i like your positivity though that's what it takes nice valley is different sweet man well dude thanks man uh yeah appreciate it and we'll talk to you soon man see what you can come up with of course yeah thanks dude yeah we'll this is it all right parker remember this is the place with the helpful hardware here we go we're going in ace hardware to see if they get a really deep socket and that's the best we can do me and then i'm just i'd rather you let's see who finds the first one and one eighth socket deep as you can get it there you go should i make an instant poster right now yeah see if anyone has a 1 and 1 8 giant socket guess which one they're out of they got every one except the one and one eighth yep yep and broke down like a way out of drill yo dave it's uh name's tim i'm up from alaska man i got a random question for you um i broke down out of the paradise valley and i'm looking for i can't find one but i need like an inch and 1 8 socket like a really deep one yeah he's got a socket bro no way yeah stop airing up dude altitude tire and auto a guy named dave he's got a 1 and 1 8 socket that might work so we'll go test it out i figured it'd be worth a call thanks man you want a sticker yeah man thanks just pull back here unless you get maybe you got a socket too i don't know codes that wouldn't be good that's crazy so we pulled in a wheelbarrow transfer case get it all dialed and ready and then it'll be ready for us to mob on up there sick dude well yeah hopefully we'll get it running today like i said if not then yeah you like uh so patrick's just offered to come on saturday um so yeah dude that's awesome man um yeah appreciate you brother we'll keep you posted on uh on uh the progress man and so he's gonna let you borrow the part yeah dude it's game oh my gosh what a world yeah meanwhile patrick called from elevated overland and he's like i can come out saturday and tell you guys so it's just so cool to have options what a blessing like it seems to always happen when you get into the worst crap you get the biggest help we're chilling detailed dance a little bit of action up in here yep day in the man making the tools we need i don't think he's too worried about the drill on an adventure now oh yeah boy so i'm not gonna get that bound up in there i'm gonna keep on doing it with this but all right we just grinded out this socket so now this can slip in enough to hopefully grab the bit oh yeah baby we're in business it's crazy dude what a wrong turn to make the wrong turn total right guy yeah that was so cool detail you guys go see detailed dan yeah i'll wouldn't have had and we rolled into a detailed den developed this custom make one yep pretty cool he's like i recognize you guys you got the cabin on the truck well done i feel like this is setting the tone i feel like it's gonna go well when we get back oh yeah i think i think so downtown crusted butt crust yeah we're gonna go uh camera was it's like tito times burritos or something it starts with the tea it's legitimately that's one of the better burritos i've may have ever had pretty good at least the one i got was i don't know about yours mine was amazing i've never had a thai burrito like yeah through the door bill's going to tamale let's go yeah let's get the shredded beef taco from the outside it just looks like a burrito and it is but it's a good freedom all right we're back again day three back again how many trips into town i think just two it feels like two just two it feels like a lot on one this is it though moment of truth hopefully i'll get this stuff all put back together at some point let's get into it oh i can't wait to work on my truck again here's what's going on looks all chaotic it's all taken apart let's put this thing in put it back together all right guys moment of truth so we took that grinder as you saw bored out this socket so that it can extract the ipr so we're going to see if that works really really hope it does that's our custom socket there yep watch out for my turbo from mr detail dan i love how they put this under the fuel bowl just in there he's on it it fits whoa all right now i gotta get this on though nice yeah it's just loosened she's coming out ah nice dude right we're down here about to pull the ipr here she comes and here it is oh yeah oh good ah nice there she is might not even be the right part there she is yeah you gotta check out truck house live for that shot of how it slipped on out of there let's pull this outside oh oh all right it's definitely getting fuel i mean and oil and all that good stuff yeah it's all over the pump is working so is that good or bad to find out that's a good thing that means the fuel pump is definitely working so this is probably that's probably it this is probably it well dude this is just crazy like the amount of mental like what do we do and now you can see why i was freaking out this morning oh yeah you guys are up there sleeping i was like i gotta get to town yeah i got really good against town here's the old one probably the culprit here's the new one let's put it in and put everything back together and then hope it works [Music] oh it almost sounded yeah it started to sound like it really wanted to go more than it has in three days oh yeah if i take the fuel ball off i'll know if it's pumping yeah okay cool not that that'll solve anything right now but all these snow if it's getting fuel from the pump because i do have a fuel pump yeah if this is full of fuel that's a good that means the fuel pump's working no fuel in there fuel i mean yeah there's a little bit of fuel it's just the bottom of the bowl please don't be the lift pump [Applause] dang i've already wow 600 to put into it now yeah so the lift pump now you have one i've got i've got one i just like i have to take everything out of just put back in oh no and more and it's like it's it's a you get that thing out too in the back yeah i have to take the entire turbo off oh why did they put it there i don't know it's just like that's absolutely horrible place for a fuel pump that's discouraging i just call it toe out i think i'm done yeah i don't blame you man well everybody it's time for an update i've been stuck here three days broken down out in the middle of nowhere i'll paradise basin i think it's called something like that outside of crested butte colorado at a four-wheel drive trail of all places to break down i made two trips into town i've spent over a thousand dollars replacing parts that i thought it might be sensors and i cannot figure it out it's above my head i'm not a diesel mechanic and i've already taken the pretty much top half of the engine off and done all i can so so brian told me to call up colorado 4x4 rescue and recovery which is a volunteered base recovery service and so i'm just waiting for a response from them to see if they can tow this huge freaking truck with a camper out this crazy four-wheel drive trail so it's like a double whammy um and then once i get out of there we met some guy in town that knows a really good diesel mechanic that works on power strokes down in gunnison colorado so i've got to get it towed down there and then just hopefully we can figure it out hopefully he can get me in quick yeah i only had like a week and a half from colorado and uh i'm missing my show to the red rocks i'm missing a bunch of trails i wanted to do i might miss overland expo like everything i came to colorado to do i might be missing it so hopefully we get it taken care of i'm a little bit discouraged i'm not going to lie but all i can do is just ride it out right so and i am super thankful that phil uh from down to mob overland and brian from off grid backcountry avengers have been hanging out with me the whole time and like driving me to town for parts and all that they've been awesome so i've been lucky to have some good buddies helping out anyway i'm going to get some dinner and chill i guess because
