before the video starts guys I want to shout out Sikhi for sponsoring this video if you guys have never heard of sikhi what it does is it gathers a bunch of tickets online whether you're trying to go to a concert or a sporting event and gathers all of them in one place and it ranks them on a scale of one to ten so you always get the best deal if it's in green it's a really good deal if it's bad it's gonna be in red so guys if you use code fuzzy on your first order that is over thirty bucks you can save twenty bucks and use code fuzzy save some money let's get into the video what's going on guys it's fuzzy welcome back to yet another baseball video today is gonna be pretty interesting because just a few minutes ago I was on ESPN and Yahoo Sports and I saw an article saying that the Marlins were trying to trade JT Realmuto for Cody bound rubbin Dodgers and it just got me thinking you know that that's just a weird trade yes the Marlins are trying to rebuild so Cody bounder is young and would fit into that mix and yes the Dodgers actually need to catcher but I'm not sure if that trade would work out but the one thing that it did do is it got my gear spinning and it got me wondering what are the best trades and what are the worst trades and Major League Baseball history I'm sure that you guys can already list a few off the top of your head some our recent some day back to a long time ago in a galaxy far far away in Fenway when they had their best player a 19 year old left-handed prospect who was a pitcher and then they traded him for cash but we'll get into in just a second I am gonna hide my face for now because I just wanted to focus on the facts and everything like cast guys thank you all so much for watching I hope that you guys enjoy the best slash worst however way you look at it because you could get Mullins man you could be a Dodgers fan you could be on the opposite side so it might be the best trade for you guys but thank you all so much for watching swap it like on this video and subscribe if you want some more baseball content and let's get into the worst trades in Major League Baseball history so the way that this is gonna work is we're gonna go ahead and talk about the players now we're not gonna go in order from best to worst but I do want to talk about the trades in depth and once I'm done talking about the trade I want to show you guys the highlights of the trade of player so it's gonna be a pretty cool video so the first one is Babe Ruth of the 1919 Boston Red Sox being sold to the New York Yankees now a lot of people say this doesn't classify as a trade but you know it I do okay so we're gonna put him at number one Babe Ruth had just become a full-time hitter at 25 years old when the Boston Red Sox decided to say you know what we'd rather have $100,000 and that's exactly what happened they traded Weber to the Yankees in exchange for $100,000 so if you guys are curious how much that would be in 2018 about a million and a half dollars so yeah they definitely they definitely got these short end of the stick on that one and also on top of that the Red Sox didn't win a World Series for another 86 years so that's why they dubbed it the curse of the Bambino but Babe Ruth obviously is the number one spot that ball blames like a bullet when he connected this is the site the fans came to see whoo circling the side cap for a circuit plow we're talking about a trade that happened in 2017 so you guys all should remember this when Christian Yelich the future 2018 National League MVP was traded from the Marlins to the Brewers in exchange for four peanuts and I'm not trying to say they're peanuts as of they're bad but for right now they don't mean anything to the Marlins so they pretty much traded Yelich for nothing in 2018 Christian Yelich at 326 with 36 home runs and a hundred and 10 RBIs in exchange they pretty much only got Luis Brinson which is a pretty good prospect but the fact that he won MVP I just I can't believe this actually happened and yell accepted higher the right-center field [Applause] to the two worst speaking of trading away and MVP if we go all the way back to 2014 Josh Johnson he was on the Oakland Athletics at the time he had a breakout here almost won MVP he led the ACE to a playoff spot but Billy Beane being Billy Beane he wanted to move him at the top of his game so he would get the most in return so in 2015 just before the season started he traded him to the Blue Jays for Kendall graveman Brett Lowry and Sean Nolan which all kind of aren't very good so these trades are awful don't get me wrong I love Billy Beane I love Brad Pitt I love Moneyball but this was one of those moments where Billy Beane I just think what were you thinking man you just pulled a 2018 Derek Jeter I just I just don't know what's happening [Applause] all right so we talked about trading future MVPs but what about trading future hall-of-famers and that's exactly what happened to Jeff Bagwell before he was traded the Astros he came up with the Boston Red Sox late in the 1990 season the Boston Red Sox acquired 37 year-old right-hander reliever Larry Anderson from the Houston Astros in exchange for first base prospect Jeff baggles he was still a wee little lad a prospect Anderson pitched well for Boston only allowing three earned runs and 22 minutes of work Bagwell eventually won the Rookie of the Year in 1991 and MVP in 1994 oh yeah not to mention he also smoked 449 home runs over the course of 15 seasons for the Astros not a bad back in 2003 Derek Lee was a household name in Florida a lot of people were upset when the Marlins actually sent him off to Chicago because in return they got a South Korean prospect named he is soweth Choi now chewy actually produced at a fairly high level in his first 95 games he had 15 home runs in an 880 2o PS but then he was moved to the Dodgers and his career kind of fizzled out from there were on the other hand Derek Lee yeah he had seven years of dominance in Chicago where he racked up a hundred and seventy nine home runs and on top of that he helped the team to a playoff spot in 2007 and 2008 unfortunately Derek Lee was not in the stands so he could not prevent Steve Bartman from doing his thing so obviously when you traded for Derek Lee in exchange for pretty much nothing that has to be classified as one of the worst trades ever I mean best for the Cubs worse for the Marlins [Applause] go sandwich in a track at the five hitch what a game he's had to pay attention because you are going to hear from this team a lot because they made so many mistakes throughout the course of their tenure of being a team now we're talking about the Montreal Expos they're now the Washington Nationals but when they were a team they made eight oh man I can't even really hardly comprehend how many bad trades they made the first really bad trade that they made came in May of 1989 they had a tall left-handed pitcher by the name of Randy Johnson and they just thought you know he can't throw a strike he had a six point six seven era in six starts for the team so they just thought let's just get rid of him but yeah about that five citing the words and a World Series trophy later it's pretty clear that the Expos made one of the worst trades in history [Applause] now again I'm not trying to bag on expose fans or all you Nationals fans out there I'm just trying to give you guys the full details of the worst trades and they did it again in June of 2002 so the attendance in Montreal was not that great no one wanted to go to a game so they thought to themselves let's trade a lot of prospects for one really good starting pitcher Bart oh the Cologne and see if people come so they traded a guy named Cliff Lee he's not the best Grady Sizemore and Brandon Phillips that is a haul for just one single pitcher Brandon Phillips did not spend too much time in Cleveland but that's okay because Cliff Lee gave you a twenty two and three win-loss record and a sighing he also had his buddy Grady Sizemore coming a huge with Gold Gloves and all-star appearances after all-star appearances he was also in the home run derby at Yankee Stadium when Josh Hamilton did his thing so the fact that Grady can hit you 30 home runs still your 40 bags and had a Gold Glove that was just a haul for one single player Bartolo cologne Indian six Devil Rays three to down the 1 2 pitch a swing and a Miss ball game and season and what a way to finish Cliff Lee with his first career 9 inning complete game one ball one strike high flyball right-center field we'll hit Cabrera on the run track Wollongong [Applause] for Grady Sizemore say what you want about our next player but you cannot tell the history of baseball without Mark McGwire so back in 1997 the Cardinals face off against the Braves and the NLCS and they lost against the Braves so they wanted to rebuild trying to figure out what was happening so they decided to trade a TJ Mathews Eric Ludwick and Blake Stein for it that guy is Mr Big Mac so I'm laughing because from this point on he was absolutely a stud yes he did steroids and everything like that but you know those three didn't really account to much but in exchange for the 33 year old Mark McGwire played five seasons in a st. Louis and crushed 220 home runs so a pretty good deal for the Cardinals mark has hit 16 where is this one going way up the hill oh boy no not again all you expose fans were still clinging to life out there all you Nationals fans I'm so sorry for doing this but in 1997 the Montreal Expos had a man by the name of Pedro Martinez who led the league with the 1.9 ARA and won the signed Young Award that year the Expos knew that at 26 years old and fresh off a side Young Award win they were not going to be able to afford Pedro Martinez so what did they do they traded him to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a man named Carl Pavano who posted a four point a 3 E ra and six seasons in montréal oh my gosh they traded car Pavano for a Hall of Famer they couldn't hold off Brosius is gone 3 most here at Yankee Stadium now this create 17 strike out in 1987 the city of Atlanta was forever changed and also the game of baseball because he's still broadcasting he's doing his thing John Smoltz was drafted by the Tigers but in 1987 they moved into Atlanta in exchange for a pitcher by the name of Doyle Alexander so Smoltz came up to the big leagues with the Braves in 1988 and pitched them both as a starter and a closer through the end of the 2008 season Smoltz is now in the Hall of Fame and eggs and ER got lit up in the postseason that year allowing 10 earned runs and nine innings in the ALCS that is a lopsided trade if you ask me - ah that's number 10 the top Bobby another hall-of-famer that was traded for pretty much nothing was Ryan Sandberg a lot of you guys don't seem to know who Ryan Sandberg is but this guy was a stud backing day so prior to the 1982 season the Phillies delt shortstop Larry Bowa and a third base prospect name to Ryan Sandberg to the Cubs in exchange for shortstop Ivan DeJesus Ryan Sandberg not only won nine go Gloves he had 282 home runs and developed into a Hall of Fame talented hazers on the other hand played three seasons in Philadelphia and compiled just a yeah at 2.9 more twice the [Applause] earlier in the video we talked about how the Bluejays pulled off a still betrayed when they got Josh Donaldson from the Oakland Athletics for pretty much nothing now in this trade they were on the opposite side so they got the bad part of the deal so they traded Noah syndergaard a prospect at the time for the 37 year old Sian Award winner of Aria deke now they thought that this was gonna be the balance of powers as they got a signing Award winner he did have a 4.0 5 e ra and his four seasons with the Blue Jays whereas no syndergaard having him at number two behind Jake degrom that is filthy and he gets Blanco looking if that 2 strike fastball in is always a tough pitch particularly when you can bring that even P struck him out and the ballgame is over Noah syndergaard with the first complete game of his major-league career on to hitter alright guys so I purposely left out a few other trades because I am going to wrap up today's video but if you want to see a part two go ahead and slap a like on this video leave a comment in the comment section down below saying that you want to see a part two because there's an Adam Wainwright trade that was not too great there's a couple other trades that I just think to myself why was this allowed to happen you know that hindsight is 20/20 but guys thank you all so much for watching this video and the comment section down below also let me know what do you think was the worst trade that we talked about today was it the Babe Ruth trade was that the Derrek Lee trade was that the Cliff Lee Grady Sizemore Brandon Phillips for Bartolo Colon trade I'm curious to see what you guys think also if I did forget to mention any trades that were of importance let me know in the comment section down below and I will include those in part two and if I choose your comment I will put your comment on the screen as well so guys thank you all so much for watching I will catch you guys in part two if you want it see you later [Music] [Music]
