THE WORLD’S GREATEST GARBAGE PLATE 🥘

today on healthy junk food we travel back to my old stomping ground bill Gray's in Rochester New York home of the world's greatest cheese burger which is also home to a video that did really really well I am the greatest in today's video we're going to get in the back of the kitchen to show you how to make a garbage plate what they're all about and then we will visit three other locations in one day to find out which garbage plate is the best I'm proud to say I've consumed over 150 garbage plate and at least 15 locations in the course of my life and by the end of this video y'all are gonna be educated on one of the world's greatest junk foods of all time unfortunately my audio got screwed up but the show must go on so you're about to experience an interesting way to hear me throughout this entire video we're gonna make this work go in get in the restaurant just here to help record eat let's get in there the garbage plate was founded in 1918 by Nicholas Tahoe a Greek immigrant offering large amounts of food during the Depression era I learned this from a sign on the wall it was originally called hots and potatoes which in Rochester the word hots means hotdogs the name later turned into a garbage plate because late-night college students would stumble in and say oh you get a play lag our retirement so the standard garbage plate will be a base of Maxell and home fries topped with two cheeseburgers and dressed with mustard onions and meat sauce but in actuality a garbage plate can be whatever you want all right so we start with two six ounce patties on the grill move it around now take your spatula slide underneath the burgers loosens it perfect now grab a round plate scoop on some mac salad only one side then we're gonna grab a white heart also known as a porker taste like Germany in my mouth no butterfly the hotdogs make slits down the shot oil on the grill white hot go to skin side down now use a drill press to cook it evenly two minutes lip waffles that's white American cheese melted to the other side we're going crinkle-cut fries and now for the final touches a porker goes on one side and our world's greatest cheese burger on the other the most confusing part about the great place for somebody like me that's not from Rochester is that there's really so much you can do with it there's not one generic way to fill the place and JP's gonna show you exactly all the different ways when you come to fill greys or really any of the other pathways to Rochester [Music] this is a JP's plate it has a lot of really good things going on now my plate is gonna be a little bit more awesome obviously this is what I do I clean I'm a woman it's like cleaning a baby's bottom so I know I got to go down and then kind of swirl it around things all right chicken tenders how many goes on a great place now let's go right to the deep fryer going in I did it don't make me cry it's my second day at this job you flip we flip I flip foot behind very busy I know I'll give somebody this one scoop but I'm just gonna take the whole vat so with two sides and then two meats I am very cheesy that's what makes it melt really fast it's like you're in that mother going on right there I got to put chicken tenders on it so I'm an adult that likes chicken tenders that's this is not a real place people order this order up join the jewelry a-team go for this plate just like JP except better with more finesse because really good at doing this I can do anything I want guys probably what do I do show put in the center I like pickles I think that this is pretty fully loaded you guys gonna vote which one would you rather have the Julia goo or the J Pierce VP all right this is the moment where Julia drops the food we just spent all that time making this Weigel's white hots are like really just the Rochester thing so when I come home I always try to get away hot dogs to you in the mail I love chicken fingers I love the extra cheese on the cheeseburger that's straight to my heart good and I'm also a voice when it comes to heat I didn't know that you could do he otherwise I wouldn't so much look at what Julia did and look at this there's like a skin tag here oh don't call it that I think Julia's burger is actually better I'm not gonna lie I don't know if she just cooked it right I don't know if it was the extra cheese but sorry I just leveled up oh my it's not that come on you know it kind of looks from this angle like you're crying mm-hmm you don't like spicy stuff and it's definitely not for you hmm but that max I'll cool it down I'm not gonna lie Julia I tried your burger too and I agree with Jessica mine was better there you go your tush alright guys if you're just tuning in this was the food channel see that that is not a normal color there's more pork inside it's kind of peppery it's different I think it's good I don't really like hot dogs to begin with this is what you're supposed to do you're supposed to take your roll break it in half like this put the cheeseburger on it and then you just made yourself a cheeseburger oh my god you're breaking all the garbage rules this is the ultimate barbecue it really is really so what's the next spot make tacos is that the next spot okay yes ma'am sorry we gotta go to another place JP you're a really good dancer [Music] all right guys we made it to Nick tacos from the looks of it you might be like oh where are you this is it this is the originator so here when we walk in we can actually say garbage place they call me of course you'll need a card play in a garbage can so this hot sauce is a lot different already destroyed looking at it we paid $11 for this place mac salad home fries red hot East burger mustard onions this is the authentic hot sauce right on top how does this compare to bill great how will it compare to the rest let's taste it so yeah these hot dogs are called pop open because they have a thick skin and actually pop open when you hook them tell me what you think I really do like the red hot better than the white hot I haven't had a lot of white hot dogs so one of the most important things about a garbage plate is the max salad if you screw it up you done screwed up the plate you gotta try it all together that's the way you got to do it what do you think it's good right the texture of this kind of reminds me of like a mix between baby food and baby vomit the garbage plate is not for everybody it is an acquired taste and it's something that you have to experience when you're drunk should we have gone to the Barb prior removi this is like weird like I'm gonna remember this I mean it's not the best garbage plate I ever had but it's so good I personally like the hotdog you can't get this anywhere else look at that how many please few things you had like different ones like 10 or more but from what I understand we have two more places to check out where are we going next Henrietta ha I'm super excited this is the one that you've been to the most and you never brought me there before that's so rude make a peeps grab your fork and spoon Mik Tahoe's never lets me down except that kind of let me down a little bit but don't matter JP is really excited to eat more garbage plates so let's get going here JP we're going to Henrietta hots my favorite place you are gonna break your legs what's up guys we made it the Henrietta HOD my favorite garbage plate out of all the plates in Rochester New York we didn't even order yet you're already getting your pickle this is the vegetable guys yeah I get a cheeseburger trash play Mac home fried ketchup hot sauce and extra hot sauce on the side so one way to do it they have this in Rochester yeah they also have it in Buffalo that type of hot sauce does not belong on a garbage plate you're offending everybody alright guys here it is my favorite garbage player oh it's so beautiful smash your pass I'm almost offended Julie's giving you an option I'm not trying to throw any shade on this but I'm feeling a little turned off based on how it looks a lot like the NIC Tahoe sauce that I did not like already I do like the flavor of this sauce better it's actually spicier [Music] this is way better [Music] it's okay it's $8 for a play here Nick Tahoes it's a weapon just looking at the size of the plate alone holy cow this is a lot of food for your dollar if you're a college kid this might be one of your go-to meals now we're adults and we eat salads oh my god this is so good this is exactly how I remembered it that's the meaty hot sauce yeah that does not look like what it should be got mix it up it's oily base like the next day there's just a layer of lard on top it's glorious and this is what you gotta do you gotta grab all your components and then dip it into more of the amazing hot sauce trust me we got 70/30 ground beef it's super fatty super oily and then you soak it all up with a piece of bread congratulations you have successfully learned how to properly eat a garbage play I think that this place is really good this is the best so far same ingredients better taste in Riyadh [Laughter] I would say I'm sugar high but it's the opposite savory hi there's the best buy that I got my head smashed in the door that and you gotta fight no I didn't get a fight we camped out because we want to get the Playstations and then they all Gruen bum rush the door there's a mob of 500 people I was at the door and I got smashed right into the glass but I was wearing a helmet so I didn't get hurt wait why did you have a helmet we made it my love I'm so glad you brought me let's get into dog town this is justice place many big dog town home of the overachiever they got all these awards yay look at that Indian cookies that's my dog she's been trying to tell you that this is the best place for a while and I know you're in a little bit denial because I you love Henrietta it's okay if you like this one morning you cheeseburger plate mac salad french fries everything on and we potato fries and hash browns you're a potato lover so excited yeah you hype this thing up like it's like gold I already know what it tastes like smells good looks good actually it does look good this does smell really good mmm Maxell it's okay oh come on it's not as sweet as on you're out of hots honey no Hudson's got the sweetness to it I like it cause it's tangy you like sweet I like yeah you're right that is this really is really good I think they have better burgers here this is way better than an AHA okay is that oh it's not way better than Henrietta hots it's different no it's a garbage play a garbage plays a garbage plate okay so the hot sauce is a little bit better it's not as greasy see that JP why don't you tell me what spices are normally in a hot sauce allspice cloves cumin a little bit of brown sugar cinnamon tomato paste Thai and pepper garlic onion what else is that there's so much stuff that goes in there I agree 100% that that burger is better there is that classic perfect mac salad tastes for you Rochester Ian's I think it's great I'm pretty simple I'm like I like mac salad this is a different noodle first off it's a little bit bigger it actually it's rich for like this one better do what girls were land boys room yeah well last night you were drooling Dogtown has the best plate then second I like Bill gray Oh Henrietta hots fourth et Kiki I'm so sorry are we going to more places on this video I would say marks Texas hogs down the street if you want to grab one on the run I'm getting very full and I'm also getting very sleepy dog time you're done why we forgot the bread oh the number one garbage plate is definitely Henry two hots then I would go dog town then I would go bill grades and then unfortunately Nick Tahoes but that's because apples to apples what's the order of your favorite we know dog towns number one one and then I will go ten red-hot feel great and then Nikki tease I'm sorry I ate too many burgers and mac salads and hotdogs didn't have a really bad so I miss nap get up dog comes so good just was right you guys got to go to dog town except I'm lying Henry at a hospital wound you know he literally just came off camera and said that he likes this place the best and that's why he's doing triple axels out here are you making fun of me Oh [Applause]
