[Music] over 100 Years of History brimming with a myriad of Innovations these are the defining characteristics of what the truck brand Mac represents being one of the most beloved by North American truckers and holding a great reputation and prestige in much of the world the American company enjoyed is a rich history from its foundation and all the Feats it achieved in the early 20th century to its Progressive Evolution it has become synonymous with reliable machines built for hard work which is what it stands for today it all begins with John Michael Mack a son of German immigrants born in 1864 raised on a Family Farm in Pennsylvania at the age of 14 he halted his studies to start working at the Eerie railroad where he gained significant experience in how industrial Machinery operated it wasn't until 1893 that together with his brother Augustus Mack he acquired a small Carriage building company called fallison and Barry where John also known as Jack had previously worked even though the country was immersed in an economic crisis at that time the brothers managed to stay afloat and earn a reputation as repairers leveraging Jack expertise and also recruiting more of their siblings in the process however the true Passion of the max lay in experimenting with Motor Vehicles after several years and numerous trials they succeeded in launching their first vehicle in the form of a bus introduced in 1900 this vehicle was built for a tourism company in New York and had a capacity for 20 people it was equipped with a proprietary 4-cylinder engine and such robust construction that after after 8 years of uninterrupted service it was converted into a transport truck and served for another continuous 17 years this event was a turning point that led them to start receiving orders and eventually establish the company known as the Mac Brothers company right after the establishment of this new company in 1904 they started marketing their vehicles under the name Manhattan to differentiate them from their own Carriage production simultaneously the brothers decided to move the factory to Pennsylvania leaving only the carriage construction and repair workshops in New York from then on they began to devote their efforts entirely to the development and innovation of the automotive industry in addition to pioneering the Assembly of cabs over engines to enhance visibility and maneuverability in cities by 1909 they had already launched two models of 1 and 1/2 ton trucks known as Junior and senior by 1910 they managed to establish branches in Massachusetts and produced the first fir Tru all these efforts bore fruit as just one year later the company became the largest American manufacturer of trucks selling over 600 units per year however the high demand necessitated a greater capital investment leading the company to form a partnership with Sor the thus creating the international Motor Company unfortunately Jack Mack and three of his brothers decided to leave the project nevertheless the company's trajectory continued leading to the discontinuation of the Manhattan brand in 1914 and the creation of the AB Model series recognized as the first in mass production shortly after the emergence of the ab series which remained in production until 1937 with 55,000 units manufactured the AC series appeared its renowned performance and durability allowed it to remain in production for 24 years these models played a significant role during the first world war serving the English and American armies in transporting goods in challenging areas and even as Armored Transport units the appearance of some units with a short Hood along with their extraordinary off-road capabilities and resilient to the demands of their operations led the British army to nickname these units Bulldogs this prompted the brand itself to adopt this Majestic dog breed as its official emblem a distinctive Hallmark that is still preserved in the company's units to this day although the Bulldog represented Mac in its advertising campaigns and even in its own logo it wasn't until 1932 that the then chief engineer Alfred aled F Missouri sculpted a representation of this dog breed this sculpture served as an ornament for all truck models produced by the company interestingly the original figure displayed on the trucks was silver in color which held a very peculiar meaning in 1938 the company started developing its own engines in order to identify the units that Incorporated their own engine they placed the distinctive ornament in a golden color this practice continues until today representing the purely Mac units with the golden color and those that Implement another Engine with the silver color this doesn't mean that the truck is of lower quality but symbolizes Max versatility and commitment to collaborating with other manufacturers to use the best parts available in the [Music] market after the war the business organization was in a way dissolved allowing the Mac Brothers company to be renamed Mac International motor truck Corp a name that would later be changed simply to Mac trucks Inc to avoid confusion with International Harvester however what always remained constant was the company's vision and ambition to innovate even reaching the point of commercializing their patents so that other manufacturers could Implement them tragically in 1924 the primary founder of the company John Jack Mack passed away after dedicating his life from childhood to hard work and innovation in the heavy transport industry nevertheless his legacy lives on in Mac trucks which continued to develop new truck models for work maintaining the trend of progress and adaptation to the growing needs of industries that require powerful and reliable trucks similarly these trucks have left their Mark in the United States through their their involvement in the architectural modernization the country underwent during those times many of America's major Mega construction projects have involved Mac trucks within their fleets dedicated to heavy Transport Services among these the notable Hoover Dam stands out constructed on the Colorado River at the border between Nevada and Arizona in 1935 among the standout units manufactured since then are the B J and BB models which were created to meet the demands for transport capacity and speed with over 15,000 units sold by 1941 also noteworthy is the E series of which 78,000 units were built until 1951 serving as the precursor to more models such as the l- series with 35,000 units sold and the B series which had a resounding success with almost 128,000 units sold after many years of success and becoming a symbol of ruggedness and hard work the company began to take a turn that would shape its contemporary history by 1983 Mac had a 40% stake owned by the French company renau 10% belonged to the signal oil and gas group while the remaining shares were sold to the [Music] public 7 years later Mac became entirely a subsidiary of Renault at the same time it began venturing into research and implementing electronic Technologies for engine management to reduce pollution and fuel consumption while increasing durability this event drastically propelled the industry towards what is known today with solutions for heavy load Transportation aiming to achieve Optimal Performance and efficiency without sacrificing power however in the year 2000 the United States Department of Justice approved the acquisition of Mac by the Swedish company Volvo this ushered in a new era for the company enabling Mac to expand and have a much broader reach through the projection and distribution Network provided by Volvo likewise it reaffirmed its great Renown as one of the leading
