all right so we've talked to great extent about the men who transform into wolves and become beasts in the night terrorizing and cannibalizing the population scaring women in their skirts and frightening children from the edges of forests but what of the men who were known to transform by right and on purpose who fought for the great kings of old well that my friends is another story entirely and i've got it for you today so grab a drink grab a seat i've got a story for you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] welcome back my wayward children to my humble hovel let's get you back in touch with your roots shall we i am castle this is my tavern and here we talk about stories mythologies and lore and tales of your most specifically a set of stories handed down through generations of my family that will differ greatly or even slightly from stories you've heard before but in the end the point is to enjoy the stories and pass them on so they may live on in perpetuity so today i am delivering on a wide request to hear more lore as it appears directly in my family so for all of you youtube critics out there who are ready to hop on to your soap boxes it's very likely that you'll never have heard of this version of these stories so you can relax and just sit back and enjoy now there are a couple of stories here that get intermingled today we will be talking about the famous hero co colin though we won't be getting too much into detail because i have a couple videos planned on the mighty hero 4 later on and we'll also be talking about the werewolves of ossary as well as the wolfman of tippery so let's get into it some of you may have heard of line of phallit and i will put that down here so that you know how to spell it this man was allegedly the first of the wolf men of tippity to transform into a wolf by purpose and that purpose was to fight for and defend the ancient high kings of ireland now his name very much means the first of the wolfman the first of the men to become wolves and he is a man who is well known in the mythology to have transformed by will and keeping his wits into a great irish wolf now it's well known and often said today that there are no more wolves in ireland as the irish wolves died out hundreds of years ago because of many campaigns to see them exterminated but prior to that prior to the influence of modern superstition and i say modern but we're talking about the last thousand years or so wolves were regarded in many ways as being harbingers of the gods or at least of nature we see in many depictions of the horned god kernunos that he has with him usually a stag and a wolf representing the balances of nature and if any of you have heard me talk about the ancient primordials of the mythologies of my family you will understand that there are some that exist on one side and some that exist on the other and they almost in balance represent predators and prey to a degree and that's something for a later video but in this instance you see the balance between the stag and the wolf when represented with carnos the god who is the overseer of natural process now what does all of this have to do with the werewolves or rather the wolfman of tippery and where does our man call colin come in to the fray now for those of you who have read the cattle raid of coulee i will keep it brief but for those of you who haven't i will leave a descriptor cole cullen got his name because he killed the hound of a great irish king and i'm going to do a whole video on the histories and different stories about coco probably multiple because he is one of the great and most interesting characters in all of irish and scottish gaelic guelge mythology and i really want to pay him his dues but he accidentally or depending on what story you understand on purpose slays the hound of a great irish lord and because of that to repay the lord he agrees to serve as his guard dog or rather as his hound and thus he received his name kokolin meaning the hound at least to a degree that's not exactly what it means but his title not actually his real name by the way his title becoming that of the hound now later on we get the cattle raid of coulee probably one of the most famous strangely one of the most famous mythologies in all of ireland and it is between a great queen and a great king of irish myth and i'm gonna do a whole video on the cattle raid of coulee as well so you guys can get in on that and if that is done i will be sure to put it up in the cards above although it will be a few weeks after this video that that video comes out now the king as you may have guessed that was being challenged in this battle between the great king and the great queen was in fact the lord in which cocolin served and it was a battle of wealth who had the greatest and most beautiful things and that is the foundation on which the cattle raid of coulee is built but there was a goddess who had a stake in this one of the three sisters of the morugu the one who are responsible for the deaths of warriors actually the deaths of all people the ferrying of souls across the line the youngest of which who handles those who die in battle sought not only to see this great queen brought down but also to claim the soul of coculin so she attempted to seduce him this didn't work he was a warrior of principle and spirit and respected only those who could best him on the battlefield so she prophesied that she would do so and amongst the phrase she attempted through trickery and deceit to best the great warrior cochon and was not able and in the midst of all of these things she ends up losing an eye to the mighty warrior as he cast a stone at her head now what does all of this have to do with the wolfman of tippery i'm sure at this point i've lost many of you but here is where things tie together in this battle between the two where the moragu was putting their will in place and it was being defied by coquelin the sister transformed herself into a great wagon a great wolf of the forest and drove cattle towards cocolin in order to try and see him killed but it didn't work so in those moments the morocco cast curse on the bloodline of coculin that he would forever be the hound now this is the part that differs between our family's mythology and that which is generally accepted the wolfman of tippery always had a proclivity towards being more animalistic in the way that they fought and served and there was riggings of the berserkers and the ulfher amongst these stories however these men allegedly at least according to our stories are the descendants of none other than the mighty warrior call colin carrying within their blood the curse of not the wolf but the hound and this added to the ferocity of their battle prowess and gave them the blood and might to burn on the battlefield as they saw fit with might and strength and ferocity of animal and even to those who rose to the occasion who found the mighty strength of their forefather they could summon within them the ability to turn into a great virgo on the battlefield now there are some abilities which kokolin has in the mythology that translate into this that i'll talk about in a later video but what is pertinent and relevant here is the line drawn between cocholin and these men now in the mainline mythology this line is very vague but in the line that we draw you can see that the locations between the cattle raids and where coquelin ends up settling in the mythologies all tend to line up very very nicely and i thought i might share what my family calls these mens as they still exist today the bloodlines of this particular tribe do in some way still exist today and some can still achieve this rank when it comes to competition and warrior and they are called the kulamon or to a degree the men of kokolin those who are descended from the great hound of irishme if you have not already joined the clan i bidly do so
