spelled winchester it's talking about the winchester mystery house the weirdest haunted house in the world it doesn't sound very weird i wonder what makes it so strange yeah i thought you'd never ask the winchester mystery house is located in san jose california it is known around the world for being incredibly weird the mansion was home to sarah winchester her husband william winchester was the president of a company famous for making weapons legend has it that after her husband's death sarah visited a psychic who told her that she was cursed and was being haunted by spirits of people killed by winchester rifles the psychic then told sarah that if she wished to keep the spirits away she needed to build a house that could never be completed so it could house the millions of ghosts haunting her so a really rich lady built a ghost hotel you could have just said that and saved us three minutes oh i'm kind of into this tell me more about the ghost lady with the house and the things and all the spooky stuff in 1884 sarah purchased what would later become known as the winchester mystery house when she bought it the house was just a small farmhouse but that quickly changed winchester hired carpenters to work around the clock expanding the house into an enormous mansion but much of her work didn't really have a plan there were staircases that led to nowhere and doors that opened to walls the builders who worked on the house reported sarah having daily seances with local mediums to speak to the ghosts of the house it is said that these spirits are the ones who told winchester to make so many weird changes to her house build me spooky house sarah continued to build her crazy mansion non-stop for 38 years this video's going nowhere let's wrap it up oh relax you're just scared don't you want to know like how big this house is i don't know what's big this video it's a big waste of time shouldn't we be covering dwarf planets or rabe lincoln or just relax we're almost done at the time of being completed the house was gigantic it had seven stories 160 bedrooms 2 000 doors 10 000 windows 40 staircases 47 fireplaces 13 bathrooms 6 kitchens and 20 000 gallons of paint covering the walls all this weirdness covered 24 000 square feet that's about the size of one and a half hockey rinks years later the house caught the attention of walt disney who eventually used it as one of the inspirations behind my favorite ride the haunted mansion what a waste this lady blew millions of dollars on a house for ghosts she could have built a water slide a roller coaster anything i know but come on it's pretty interesting just look at steve he's into it okay fine i guess it's a little interesting but hit me with the spooky stuff did this house really have ghosts well that's what some people think ever since sarah's death in 1922 visitors have heard footsteps in sarah's bedroom seen doorknobs turn themselves have felt icy chills and have even temporarily lost their vision the house
