Damn, Abel really took all of those Michael Jackson comparisons to the heart, and blessed us with an 80s synth-pop throwback.
Side Note: Does this song make anybody else think of Take On Me for some reason?
His next album is gonna be SO. DAMN. GOOD.
Edit: I just realised how great this month has been for music. I'm actually quite impressed
Really solid single - seems like he's going to continue with the Starboy album formula of having a mix of disco-ish MJ pop with a side of trap bangers.
Def better than βHeartless.β Such a banger.π₯΅
This is going to be on repeat for so long, that chorus is just to good
SO much better than Heartless omg. The synth is beautiful, and the 80s power pop influence is so strong and captivating. A great track to end the year on.
I would love a Weeknd album entirely exec produced by Max Martin
I actually didn't mind "Heartless," but this is definitely the better single. I love the almost punky, synthpop instrumental, which sorta reminds me of "False Alarm" but a little less aggressive.
Also, and this may be a hot take, but I think I like synthpop Weeknd better than the edgier, "classic" Weeknd. I really enjoyed Starboy and find myself coming back to that more than his other projects, and I felt his recent returns to his original sound such as My Dear Melancholy and "Lost In The Fire" were a bit stale overall. Hopefully we'll get to hear some more synthy, poppy Weeknd on the next album. Based on the first two singles, I'm expecting a mixture of both.
