there's a Sak in my boots hey howdy hey fellow Toy Story fans I'm the older brother thanks for clicking on the video I hope you enjoy deep dives into Mysteries cuz I got a real doozy for you today I've been eager to cover this topic for a while because I've been a Toy Story fan since day one and Woody's Roundup it's been a Fascination to me ever since they revealed its existence in Toy Story 2 it also helps that I'm a fan of all things Cowboy so with that said thanks for tuning in and let let's get into the only in-depth analysis that's sugar frosted and dipped in chocolate now the main topic that I want to discuss today is what is Woody's origin I'm sure we've all seen the super Carin Brothers videos supposedly revealing the true origin of Woody and heard about Mike Mozart's alleged Insider information from Joe ramp but just in case you haven't let me break it down for you according to the video in question Joe ramped a writer for Pixar before his untimely pass passing he shared secret information about Woody and his previous owner with Mike Mozart that nobody had ever heard before and it goes a little something like this Woody's previous owner was actually Andy's father Andy senior real creative name there and he loved the Woody Roundup TV show and he desperately wanted a Woody doll for himself the problem was the only way to get a Woody doll was to buy 30 boxes of cowboy crunchy cereal take the box tops and send them in and the company would send you a doll that doesn't sound too hard but there's a catch apparently Andy senior grew up poor Not only was his family poor apparently Big Al of Al's Toy Barn was his childhood bully that's a weird coincidence anyways Andy Senor can only scr up Seven box tops but oh he just loves Woody's roundups so much that he sends him in with a heartfelt letter about how he's such a huge fan of the show and I guess he's hoping against hope that he can guilt the company into sending him a doll I don't know if it works that way but what he didn't know was that the company never actually made the dolls they just made one prototype I know that's crazy right they went through all the trouble of making bubble blowers and yo-yos and collector's plates you name it they made it but not toys H at this point in the story Woody's Roundup got cancelled and instead of receiving Woody dolls all the kids that sent in their Box Tops got a space toy instead I don't know about you but I'd be kind of upset about that now the secretary at the company and some say that the company was Cowboy Crunchies but I think that they just sponsored the show I don't think that they funded or created it well she just so happens to read Andy senior's letter and oh boy is she so moved by it she feels so much for this kid that she sends him the one and only Woody doll in existence just out of the kindness of her heart and here's where the story gets really weird weird and by weird I mean melodramatic and by melodramatic I mean it's more sentimental than a Greek tragedy about cutting onions soon after Andy senior gets the doll he somehow gets polio and a fun science lesson for you out there polio is transmitted by bodily fluids and that's all I'm going to say about that I'll leave it to your imagination but all of Andy senior's toys well they got to be destroyed well now Andy just can't bear to see Woody go up in Flames so he literally drags himself to his favorite cowboy and he rescues him from a fiery Doom it's too bad he wasn't around for that ending a Toy Story 3 huh so with Woody safely in his possession he decides to lock him in a box in the Attic with Mr Potato Head and Slinky the dog all secure with those Oho fun Christmas decorations you fast forward some time and Andy senior is now the proud father of Andy junr and Molly but oh no that dang polio rears its ugly head again and our ill fated father uses his last moments to give Andy a key to a box in the Attic now what could possibly be in that box oh you know what it is it's our favorite ragd doll Sheriff who sees Andy Jr when the box is opened and he somehow doesn't notice that any time has passed since before he was stored away and he believes that Andy is Andy senior I'm sorry folks I I like to be as forgiving as possible and if Mr Mozart truly did know Joe ramp then I'm sorry for his loss of a friend but that being said how could anybody believe this I'm just going to put the first nail in the coffin here by saying that Andrew Stanton who helped write all four Toy Story movies has directly said that this theory was a bunch of baloney and I trust him over secondhand information from a guy with a name that sounds like a super villain moreover we all know Disney and Pixar can lay the sentimentality on thick but this is too much even for them even for a behind thes scenes explanation my most compelling argument against this Theory however is is one of simple logic you mean to tell me a hit show like Woody's Roundup would inspire all types of merchandise from record players to Horseshoe games and they wouldn't think to make a toy of the star a toy that could be easily purchased at any store like I don't know the other three members of the Roundup gang were and honestly if you were to make a mail and toy promotion what makes more sense to have it be the most desired character from the show or a character that very few people would be interested in actually buying like I don't know a certain prospector it'd be like a toy company making a Batman toy line but having it to you could only buy a Batgirl in Robin in stores I know that was a lot to process so if you're still with me thank you but let me tell you what I think is Woody's true origin Woody was a doll from a popular TV show in the 1950s he was purchased by Andy's father he was played with and loved and then he was handed down to his son it's a simple easy explan explanation and it keeps your eyes from rolling out of your head now the next question that I have actually ties to the first question if Woody isn't one of a kind why is he so rare now this one actually was my favorite question to answer and I think if you appreciate toys on any level you're going to see why so I'm sure most of you out there have heard of Barbie that skinny blonde doll who just had a billion dollar movie at the box office fun fact for you Barbie debuted in 1959 but her first appearance in media was on TV in 1987 so where am I going with this well what if Woody wasn't actually made because of a TV show but a TV show was made based on him what if the toy was so popular they just had to make a TV show based on it think about it if there's pre and post TV show dolls it would explain a couple things one is why is Big Al so obsessed with the details of Woody at the yard sale to paraphrase the line from Toy Story 2 Woody has an original hand painted face natural blank stitched vest and a hand Stitch polyvinyl hat now these are all things that could be present on pre-show dolls but not on postshow dolls as a way to cut down on cost just look at these two real world Woody dolls both made by thinkway toys but made about 10 years apart notice the cheaper materials on the later doll and they even shorten the length of Woody's legs to save money on production it even explains why Woody doesn't remember the Roundup gang you can't remember something you never knew I bet the Woody we know from the movies was made played with and then he got put in storage and then the TV show debuted a few years after that maybe Al even came across other postow dolls while on the hunt for a pre-show doll that'd be interesting to see in a deleted scene to sum that all up Woody is rare because of when and how he was made and the reason he doesn't remember who he is is is that he wasn't anyone in particular when he was made okay okay I know this has been a long one so I'll close out with an easy question when Al sold the Roundup collection how much did he sell it for I've seen numerous people online POS this question and with all due respect I think they always get it wrong we're not going to factor in the eBid sale of Woody from Toy Story of Terror as he was incorrectly listed as a cowboy doll so anyone with big bucks look for a genuine Woody doll wouldn't have easily found him and been able to raise the price of that auction higher than the $2,000 we can however assume that he's worth a great deal more than that from Context Clues in the movie now having said all that the overnight six packages to Japan is how much well deducting from inflation we're looking at about 800 to $1,000 just to ship them alone so the price has to be a great deal more than that for Al to think he's going to be rich let's also factor in that Al was buying a same day ticket to Japan which those aren't cheap probably would have cost somewhere close to $1,500 and remember how Mr Kishi is willing to tack an extra zero onto the price that's going to bump us up even further now knowing what I know about toys which is more than I'd ever want anyone to have to know and considering the minimum price tag it would take to make back Al's investment on the collection i' put my lowest estimate at half aill ion not bad for a hand me- down cowboy doll into some old memorabilia now this was a fun video to make and I hope you guys learned something next time someone quotes that old super Carin Brothers video you just laugh and you show them mine if you liked it feel free to let me know in the comments likes are always appreciated to spread the message but don't feel obligated I I'm just happy to talk about things that I love and I'll see you guys next time
