Bauer battery tools are they any good let's find out so in today's video we're going to be talking about the Bauer line of tools from Harbor Freight are they any good would I recommend them what are some things that you might want to consider so let's start off with Harbor Freight as an American company the base out of California they've been in business since 1977 so about 45 years now they do have tools that are made overseas and sold here in the States but so don't 99 of the other battery tool manufacturers you know what they say as far as U.S based with global materials look at the actual battery and tell me where it's made and then let me know because that's the height of these tools is the battery if we're going to be honest with ourselves so Bauer is Harbor Freight's mid-level or mid-range line of tools they have over 55 different battery powered Tools in this 20 volt system that you can get which I'm going to link a picture of right now so in my opinion they really perform well when you start comparing them with the name brand tools and like I said if we wanted to get a little better tool you could step up into the Hercules but today's video we're going to be focusing on the bowel line so like I said they have 20 volt batteries you can get 1.5 Amp Hour 3 amp hour and 5 amp hour choices certain tools like the circular saw they recommend the bigger 3 amp or 5 amp hour batteries not the 1.5 and that's probably the one big thing about the barrel line in which they would change is I wish they would offer a bigger battery if you step up into the Hercules for example you can get a 12 amp hour battery which you can also get for a lot of name brands but they only go up to five amp hours for the Bowers hopefully someday they'll offer bigger batteries but the reality is you can just buy more batteries and have fresh batteries on hand rather than having to worry about one huge 12 amp hour battery so to all the people that say you know Harbor Freight sells junk Chinese tools I only buy DeWalt I only buy Milwaukee I'm just going to say this I'm not getting into a brand or you're going to buy what you're gonna buy I'm gonna buy what I can buy and afford which is a big thing if you're making you know really good money with your tools or if your company buys your tools for you just keep in mind that's a lot different situation than someone who's using Tools in their own property not making any money with the tools and also you might be surprised if you look at where your tools or name brands are actually made check it out and also while you're checking it out check out who owns the companies for example who owns Milwaukee and has owned them since 2005 you might be surprised with what you find out so going back to the bower like I said they have 55 different tools the 20 volt system I've owned these tools for quite a while now I'm going to say probably six months to eight months and I've used them for all kinds of different jobs I've driven in six inch Timber locks with impact driver I've drilled two inch holes in fresh cut Pine with the drill I've used this cordless circular saw to cut some one inch thick rough saw on board as well as some two inch rough side so I mean I've tested them it's a real world applications and they performed well I can't give it a long-term test yet because I don't have you know five years of owning the tools to reflect back on but I do have over 30 years of battery tool use of other brands to reflect on so let's talk about that so just to give an overview of some of the battery tools that I own still and I've owned over the years just to give you an example of my you know experiences Porter Cable 12 volt nicad drill I probably owned this for I'm going to say 22 23 years now this Makita 18 volt lithium ion I'm going to say I bought around you know 2008 2009 somewhere around there so that's probably 14 years old or so same thing with this DeWalt 18 volt nicad these are only a few of the tools I've owned they've owned other brands as well and I can tell you with 100 certainty eventually your brand of choice and your tool of choice no matter how much you spend and what brand you get is going to stop working usually the batteries give out and then the batteries are what kills you buying new batteries can be as expensive as a whole new tool which is one of the big advantages to the bower is the batteries are very reasonably priced compared to some of the other brands you could be talking you know 50 to 75 percent the cost of a name brand battery which if you stop buying two three four batteries can really add up to a lot of money so going back to my experiences I've been using battery tools for longer than a lot of the people watching have probably been alive if I'm going to be honest I remember going back to the 1990s when we first started using battery tools with my father and his construction company we had the Makita 9.6 volt tube batteries looked like a long skinny tube let me know in the comments if you remember those batteries but they had very little power and before that everything was corded we had corded corded drills with Chucks and you know those first battery tools were a game changer because it allowed you to not have to set up extension cords you go to remote areas and do work and over the years batteries have come a long way they start getting into the nicad and then they get into the lithium ion and they just got more and more powerful lighter and lighter they lasted longer and today in 2022 you have tons of options for battery powered tools who would I recommend the Bauer tools too well I would say let's start off with who I wouldn't recommend them to if you're a professional trades person whether it be a carpenter electrician plumber mechanic whatever and you're using your tools eight nine ten hours a day you know five six days a week yeah I probably wouldn't recommend those tools to you I would probably get a higher end name brand tool and you know it's not as big of an issue for those people though because they can make money with the tools to pay for them a lot of times the companies will buy the tools for them so they're not even spending their own you know money really on these tools so for them it's not an issue but for most people for the average person which rep which let's be honest most people aren't in the situation I just described using those tools that often for most people I would say the Bauer tool is going to be fine even for someone who's doing their own stuff you know I work probably aside from my regular full-time job I probably work a minimum of 20 hours a weekend using these kind of tools around my property and I've been doing so for the last six or eight months and I don't have any issues with them as you've seen I've owned a number of other brands including some high-end name brands like Makita DeWalt um you know I've owned Bosch a lot of different brands and I can just say that they're just not necessary for a lot of people you're paying a lot of extra money for the name brand and you may not need you know the small percentage of difference that you're going to get with that tool versus the Bower and if you do want to step up say you are one of those trades people I think if you stepped up into the Hercules line I think you'd probably be just as satisfied as you would be with your name brand DeWalt Milwaukee Makita Bosch Etc so to wrap up the video I hope you guys found informative I hope you found something worthwhile out of it hopefully it gave you some food for thought on whether or not the bowel line is right for you let's go out and see the Bowers in action doing some real world chores see you next time [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] all right [Music] foreign foreign foreign [Music]
