The Tragic and Shocking Death of Keanu Reeves’ Girlfriend Jennifer Syme

foreign [Music] [Music] what's going on everybody how you doing today here I am in Hollywood California I'm on cuenga Boulevard and this is a very very busy road here in Hollywood it runs north south goes right up to the 101 freeway and yeah right now it's not rush hour but during the day here in LA in Hollywood kind of for about 6 a.m till 7 P.M it's always rush hour so as you can see behind me there are some homelessness the tents are around underneath that bridge they are particularly quite a few of them I can tell you that in the past two years the homelessness issue here has gotten better it seems from just for my point of view from what I can see on the streets and hopefully that continues and people are able to uh get off the streets and be in houses and get taken care of and have a better life than living on the streets I'm here today to do a video about Jennifer Stein now you may not know that name but it was a pretty big story when it happened when she passed away she was uh the mother of Keanu Reeves stillborn child she was to Keanu Reeves beloved actor Canadian and just all around nice guy he was involved with this woman named Jennifer zein who by all accounts versus was a wonderful person and tragically she died right about right where I'm standing so this is a particularly windy road here coming up here there's a giant curve that way as you can see straight ahead and it was about 5 a.m on April 1st 2001. now I'll give you a bit of a background on Jennifer she worked at 16 years old she's from Laguna Beach which is south of La then she moved to Los Angeles with her mother then she went into David Lynch's office at 16. she was a huge fan of David Lynch wanted anything to do with him to help him out and work on Twin Peaks so she landed a job at his production company which is pretty impressive and she interned and ended up staying with him for five years I believe the movie Mulholland Drive he did is actually dedicated to her at the end and she had a huge influence on the music in the movie Lost Highway which is a great soundtrack so a lot of uh her input was used for that she also works as a personal assistant to Dave Navarro from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and James addiction I also know she had done some acting and when she passed away she was working as a record executive and also taking a film supervision course at UCLA now it's the details on how she met Keanu Reeves are in dispute apparently One account is that she mentioned canterries had a band called Dog star I'm not sure if the dogs are still around they had a few minor hits but he's a musician as well and apparently it's been about a party thrown for his band but Jennifer's mother says that they'd known each other for a decade before that and that she was with Jennifer when she met Reeves and it was not at a party on December 24th 1989 she gave birth to a child that she had with Keanu Reeves named Ava and the child was stillborn obviously they're both put under a lot of grief put a strain on the relationship one second for this large truck okay there we go it's a UPS trick so stay another relationship and it ended several weeks later but they remained close friends and apparently when she passed away they had gotten back together so right about here it was the night of April 1st 2001 she was at a party at the home of Marilyn Manson now she was driven home by another party guest shortly before Dawn but then she left her home and returned to the party while they're wanting to return to the party so she was going up going up probably to the 101 to Marilyn Manson's house so it was a Jeep Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving and she smashed it into a row of parked cars right about where these two white cars are it's right about right here she was partially ejected from the vehicle and she died instantly it there's uh some pictures I will put up they are not uh Pleasant it's very sad it was a particularly gruesome accident she was only 28 years old Keanu Reeves Dave Navarro David Lynch they're all were pallbearers at her funeral now Jennifer was not wearing a seat belt and she was intoxicated at the time of the Collision police found two rolled up dollar bills that contained a white powdery substance and two bottles of prescription drugs and Jennifer's mother told police her daughter had recently sought treatment for back pain from an earlier automobile collision and for depression after her daughter's still birth so Keanu and Jennifer apparently were back together and that's what candy told the police that they actually had brunch together that very same day that he had called the coroner's office to ask if Jennifer was there in April of 2002 Jennifer's mother sued Marilyn Manson for wrongful death for giving Jennifer various quantities of an illegal controlled substance I think that would be the white powdery substance not guarantees but this is what I've read Marilyn Manson told her to come back to the party convinced her to come back to the party after she had been driven home Manson denied responsibility he said the lawsuit hello was that without Merit and it was dismissed in May 2003. so right here as you can see this is exactly pretty much where it happened it's hard to tell by the photographs but it was against this wall near this pole okay buddy so not a lot of people know Jennifer and of course I usually do stories more on celebrities but she's somewhat was she was very well known in Hollywood and of course her connection to Keanu Reeves and the daughter tannery's stillborn daughter makes it interesting sad tragic story as you see Travis kind of let up and looks like but it hasn't it's gonna get worse I'm not sure how fast she was going up here but it's a bit of a hill and then that turn she could have misjudged the turn she was intoxicated but right into a row of cars right here Jennifer is interred at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village where I've been many times and we're going to go there right now she's buried beside her stillborn daughter Ava I'm gonna go take a visit foreign [Music] [Music] so I've made it over here to Pierce brothers and uh once again I've been here many times done quite a few videos from here there's it is a star studded for lack of a better term I'm walking by Heather O'Rourke's Gray from Poltergeist Mel Torme Don Knotts but we're here to visit Jennifer and I want to give a shout out to Scott Michaels from dearly Departed and find a death who uh I originally heard the story about from him and he's got a great Channel now he's on YouTube I'll take a look at that if I were you and talk to Scott because it would use some of his photos and he said sure go ahead love Scott love his channel thank you Jennifer is somewhere right over here I've think I've included her interviews before we're gonna take a look around and uh pay our respects to Jennifer oh foreign [Music] foreign [Music] and here she is Jennifer Maria Sim December 7th 1972 to April 2nd 2001 eternal love for my beautiful daughter forever in our hearts and you'll see in the frame there's Ava Archer Reeves and that's Keanu and Jennifer's stillborn interesting grade beside them says dear darling I'm not sure who that is one thing I wanna I was thinking about on the drive over here it's not a far drive but in LA traffic it was a bit of a drive she was intoxicated she had been there was drug Panera finale found some drugs in her system and sometimes when I've done videos on people who've when that's occurred thank God there's no one else hurt in the accident I want to say that thank God uh you know it's a tragedy it's tragic and thank goodness that there was no other victims and some people write sometimes I do videos about people who have been intoxicated or drug use you know serves them right or things like that really just mean towards other people and I always say think well first of all be kind be nice and judge not lest ye be judged is really what I was thinking on the way over because what she was going through first of all as a man I cannot speak for what she was going through after giving birth to a stillborn child that must be horrific and incredibly sad so she was taking antidepressants so there's some deep depression there and using and other um self-medicating very very sad [Music] so the car is going to start right behind me right now give me one moment so just you know it's it's it's it's still a tragedy it's it when somebody uh even their using there's a tragedy it's sad and she seemed to be a bright light she was beautiful talented smart and Keanu Reeves is known like I said is one of the nicest most generous kindest man in Hollywood I don't think he would choose to be with somebody who is not like him so let's remember Jennifer for being a beautiful daughter Somebody's Daughter so be kind and again their little daughter Ava Archer [Music] so from Pierce brothers memorial I'm going to be saying peace out in seconds who also want to add I'm probably going to write the title to my Keanu Reeves girlfriend something to do with that to that effect but she was not an extension of Keanu Reeves she was her own person and but you know to keep kind of context of the video of what it's about I will probably put the Untitled by I like just like to always say that the person is their own
