the key to everything is in that book and we sang that first song that points to that so it's wonderful to be able to sing the songs that express your faith and that that that give-give tune and and easy remembrance to those kind of things I look at you and I think you know it's I see so many from so many different places and so forth you gather together in a place like this for a meeting and it's a it's a thrilling thing to be able to get a little light and understanding out of God's Word it really is and God's Word he wrote it I say he told Israel seek you out the Book of the Lord and read and I tell people all the time there's only one thing that God tells you to attend to well it's really three things but the one thing that's important all through him has been important if you touch it the door digging it deeper he never tells you to attend church verse in Hebrews 10 that everybody quotes has nothing to do about you going to church what he says in first Timothy 4:13 is give attendance to reading excitation he doesn't say give attention to he says give attendance you should attend the reading of God's Word did you know that if you read three chapters a day you could read through Paul's epistles in 29 days 37 chapters in Paul's epistles if you just read three chapters a day turn that goofy boob-tube off I mean you can do that during the commercials understand that you turn that television off turn off whatever it is it's distracting you put the phone up that kind of thing and really if you if you read three chapters a day and you read it through it a month what happened what happen if you read six chapters a day get read it twice a month can I tell you that if you read Paul's epistles through just read them you don't understand him have to think about just read them if you did that once a month for six months your life would be so different that I can't describe to you the difference it would be there's no way I could explain to you the difference would be that you would understand it but if you did it you would see it then you'd say oh this is what brother ik is talking about now if you like me or you know if 3 is good 6 is better and that would take you know if you're a dog slow reader you know the average person reads about 125 250 words a minute you could read those and and and not too very long and if you if you did it you know for 6 months once it once a month you'd wind up saying I can do it twice the ID my party is that God designed his word for you and for me to understand and there are some tools in the scripture that God has given to us to learn you don't need a college education understand the Bible you don't need to know Greek and Hebrew to understand the Bible you don't need 15 different translations of the Bible to understand the Bible you don't need a preacher to teach you the Bible what you need is a Bible and you need to read it but then you need to read it the way God designed it to be read there are four specific things that you have to keep in mind when you read the scripture that the tools to do it number one you have to be the proper student look at first Corinthians chapter two that's the verse I was thinking about first Corinthians chapter number two in 1st Corinthians chapter 2 verse number 9 Paul says but as it is written I have not seen nor ear heard neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared to them that love him now that verse tells you is called out of out of the the the Book of Isaiah chapter 64 and when he says I have not seen Aerith not heard neither at the end of the heart event that's the three ways that you know everything you know everything you learn everything you experience everything you know you learned it through the eye gate the ear gate and the heart gate with your eye you see it we call that empiricism that's the scientific method we see it we replicate it we identify it we feel it weave touch it there it is objective out there your ear gate what do you do with your ear you hear words my wife used to tell our kids are you listening to me now she says to me are you paying attention to me and the answer in both cases was yes and no every wife knows their husband has selective hearing I'm not getting Amen out of that but you hear words words communicate reason and that's the idea of reasoning rationalism and I don't mean that in a bad way I mean you're able to logically think something through a lot of times you don't you don't see it feel it touch it there's logic but you come to a logical conclusion that it's true that's the that's I get irrigate the heart gate with a man with the heart man believes unto righteousness some things you know because you believe them you take someone else's word for them so those are the three ways you know everything and by the way you have of perceiving anything that's real reality I talked to somebody just sell the damn this oh I don't think there's I don't believe in God and I said well you know to say you don't believe in god it's like say you don't believe in gravity just look in the mirror you know I'm you know I know it would mean he was kind of he kind of had an off day when he created you but you exist you came from somewhere there had to be something that brought you you didn't you do exist you there is reality it's not Plato with the shadow on the wall all that kind of stuff there's reality if you don't believe you're real pinch yourself or ask somebody else to pension and and you'll see there is reality there's experience or reality in your existence so to deny God is to deny your the reality of your existence so you can know certain things but to know the things that God has given to us you see I had he has not seen ear had not heard neither then hard event the things which the which God had prepared for them that love us you'll never find God with your resources now people use that verse you know that I call that the Billy Graham answer years ago when I was a kid back in the 60s and that's a long time ago to be a kid none of y'all even remember that I checked that out the airport yesterday I went to went to the counter got a rental car and if you go to budget rental car they have the last dot matrix printers on the planet every budget rental car place has a dot matrix printer a bunch of them and I totally the guy checking me and I said you don't you that dot matrix printer I had one of those in in the in the 1970s and I was you know I we're at the cutting edge of technology when you had a dot matrix printer and he says well we're just amazed we can get somebody to work on them I said hey I can work on it they're not hard to work on what amazes me you can still get paper for them the paper of the holes in the edges it's fascinating and I asked him I said you don't you don't remember I said I've been on AOL since it was at the Gauss prompt he said what I said that's you don't even remember back then he said I was born 1988 I said yeah so you're late you're late to the you're late to the program when you realize it doesn't go waiting on you who's born in 1988 and you remember like 1988 like it was yesterday you go mmm the the knowing things comes from not from what your resources people have the idea that you know Billy Graham would say God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform and he quote this first what know what men know what the things have been said this spirit of know the things that which God prepared to them that love him you can't know and so you walk around you don't know the things and you've heard people pray maybe you've done it you got more said Lord they show me today what you have prepared for me today and all of that is a bunch of religious who'd Lee do it's just religious nonsense you see that next verse but God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit the things you can't know in your own resources God has revealed them to you by his Spirit now where did he do that verse 13 which things also we speak not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth but which the Holy Ghost teacheth where do you find the words that the Holy Ghost teaches that's what that book is all Scripture is given by inspiration of God holy men of old spake as they were moved by the Spirit of God and when they wrote that down they're writing down the words of God and that book listen when God the Holy Spirit wants to work he doesn't use your emotions he doesn't use your circumstances he doesn't use feelings hunches and impressions he uses words have you ever noticed that you can miss read a feeling or a hunt a hunter a prompt you miss your wife's all the time don't you yeah sure you do my wife's looking at me back there like uh-huh you know you're supposed to pick up on these subliminal messages how you doing well you don't do so good do you two guys how's he doing ladies he doesn't do so good late you know hunches can be missed you know if you're a guy you pick up on one out of ten and you think you're a winner if you pick up on one out of twenty your wife thinks you're a winner because we used to lose in that battle God doesn't leave it to that kind of hit and miss kind of stuff he doesn't leave it two guesses Glacius three says having a begun in the spirit now so foolish that you think you'll be made perfect through your flesh he doesn't need your intellect he doesn't need your emotions who doesn't what does he do Genesis chapter 1 in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth and the earth was without form and void and darkness upon the face of the deep and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and when he did that what did he do when he moved verse 3 says and he said when God the Holy Spirit wants to do something he uses words take away from verse 10 there isn't anything that God has prepared for you that he has not revealed to you there is no secret here agenda will plan for your life that isn't revealed there was but there isn't anymore you say that that that verse 10 can change your whole life it'll change your whole perspective on God's a lot God's Word and your Christian life if stead of running around in your Christian life like you're playing pin the tail on the donkey blindfolded time to figure out where things are God says I've revealed it to you in a book my will for you the things that I prepared for you before the foundation of the world are right there put out so you can get them and believe them and trust them so the thing you start out with is understanding you need you have the will of God in his book but go back to verse 10 but God has revealed him unto us by his Spirit for the spirit searcheth all things yea the deep things of God for what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of a man which is in him even so the things of God knoweth no man but the Spirit of God now we have received not the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God which is of God that we might know the things which are that are freely given to us of God God the Holy Spirit is the one who is whose job it is to teach you the things of God so if you're going to be a student of God's Word the first thing you have to have is the right teacher and the right teacher is God the Holy Spirit if all of that come into Ephesians chapter one hold on first Corinthians it's absolutely imperative that you understand that if you're going to understand that book it's going to be because you have God the Holy Spirit who is the author of that book inside of you who would be the teacher of that book for you be the enlighten or of it for you so how do you know that you have the Spirit of God that's the first question to me if the Holy Spirit is going to be the teacher how do I know absolute for sure without any question that I have God the holy ghost living in me to be my teacher well Ephesians chapter 1 verse 13 is the verse that answers that question for you what you want to do is ask questions but get verses that answer them Romans chapter 4 verse 3 is a verse that you need to make a motto what saith the scripture I tell people all the time said you always know what to do even when you don't know what to do you know what to do when you don't know what to do what should you do go find out what to do right don't go off on your own ideas don't go make something up don't go ask you know whoever stopped go back to the book and find out that's one of the great things about a local church Paul talks about the God of all comfort comforting you with you comforting you that you might comfort others with the comfort wherewith you're comforted of God when you can be around believers who are a few steps ahead of you in the Christian life they've been where you aren't they've been where you go they can take but be sure they point you to the scripture as the source of information because that's how God the Holy Spirit's gonna teach you so how do I know for sure I have the Holy Spirit seasons 1 verse 13 in whom talking about the last part of verse 12 we first trusted in Christ in whom you also trusted after that you heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation notice the order there is very important first thing you have to do is you have to hear the gospel of your salvation I like that even got blook blue chalk notice the order now he's not doing this thing in verse 13 in order to show you this happens there and the six months later that happens he's giving you the the order of things you mind the verse in Romans 10 for who survive should call upon the name of the Lord should be saved but did you ever read the next the next verse how should they call upon him and whom they have not believed and how should they believe if the if no one is preached and how shall they preach unless somebody's sent so there's a sequence there's ascending there's a preaching there's a hearing and then there's a believing and then there's a calling so never never use Romans 10:13 by itself because it'll tell you something that's not not the whole story because you have to believe before you call but you got to hear before you believe because here faith comes by hearing hearing by the Word of God so that's what he's doing here you trusted in Christ but you did it after you heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation now what's the gospel of your salvation 1st Corinthians 15 verse 3 and 4 is a nutshell if you want to hear the gospel of your salvation it's the first five chapters of the book of Romans especially the third chapter he starts off telling you that the the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all unrighteousness and ungodliness have been and hold the truth in unrighteousness he explains why you're lost your problem isn't that you didn't have enough education it's not that you didn't have enough religion that you didn't do enough your problem standing before God is you're dead and sends in trespasses that's the problem and you're that way because you have chosen a path of rebellion you've chosen a reprobate mind you said I don't want God in my thinking you come up with excuses when the consequences come that's what your almost two and three is about in Chapter three he says we before proven both Jew and Gentile all under sin you're dead that's that's the diagnosis doom then he says let me tell you the deliverance but but now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested about you doing anything and that righteousness is under Allah upon all them that that trusts the Lord Jesus Christ Jesus Christ dies for your God made him to be a propitiation for your sins he died as a satisfying as the completely satisfying payment for all of your sins and when he died there Romans 3:25 says God that God the Father set him forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood God the Father believes that God the Son and paid for every paid for all your sins now when you believe what the father believes you know what you'll be right you believe anything other than what God the Father believes and you got a problem so the gospel is that Jesus Christ died for our sins then he was buried and then he was raised again the third day God is he's just and the justifier then they believe in Jesus he takes care of all of your sins pays for them completely and he's just your sins are justly paid for nobody sweeps them under the rug nobody ignores them nobody looks at us as well it really wasn't that bad it really didn't hurt that's why people can't forgive people people have a hard time with the idea of forgiving other people because they think forgiveness is just letting people off forgiveness isn't letting people off the hook it didn't acting like well that we really didn't matter or really didn't hurt or it really wasn't wrong or maybe I was to blame or really it isn't any of that it's to look at it say that sin that's wrong I'm guilty I should die it's that serious but Jesus Christ died for our sins he was buried took it out of the way then he was raised again Romans 4 says for our justification they might be just declare his righteousness at this time they might be just and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus you know what you have to do you have to believe what else nothing my wife and I were just sometime recently in Pigeon Forge Tennessee and some years ago I was there on a Bible conference and after that one of the meetings we went up to this little mill restaurant real popular restaurant there and with Sunday afternoon after the Bible conference was over and we went in there and a bunch of us are sitting at a table and there came in a group at a table next to us big old group of people and they had been to church and they were clucking about being in church so okay so after we got through with every eating and we're getting we're leaving I went over to the table and I said sounds like you folks been to church oh yes sir we had a good sermon this morning I said well can anybody at this table tell me how to go to heaven when I die oh absolutely you got to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ he died for your said trust him believe on him brother that's it then I ask the question anything else I just shut up well you know you need to get baptized and then they started and in a minute I had about 16 different things I needed to do can I tell you when when you add anything else you did away with grace fusions 113 what's the gospel your salvation Christ died for your sins was buried rose again that God is the just he's just and the justifier then which believe in Jesus trust him to be the Savior he died and rose again for you to be now when you do that in whom you trusted after you heard the word of truth the gospel year of salvation in whom also after you believed after you trusted him after you believed on him what happened you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise which is the earnest if aren't heard you see I says you're a sealed with the Holy Spirit he didn't say you were sealed by him it said you were sealed with him you know the difference some people brought my wife a bag of figs the other day I didn't get looking like this my son doesn't look like he does by accident and I love figs and my wife can cook them you never had figs all cooked in you can put enough sugar with stuff to make it good and so she took those figs and she made whatever you whatever she does with them worked her magic and when you cook those figs and then you put them at all in a mason jar and you put them on a water bath and you boil it and it seals that lid and they're sealed by my wife but they were sealed with that lid you not just sealed by the Holy Spirit you're sealed with him he is the resident agent of the Godhead that is with you right now she took a jar of those figs and gave it to the lady that gave us the figs then she came home she was not with that jar figs anymore but it's still sealed by my wife she's not there but it's still sealed because it sealed with that didn't require her somebody says brother break you believe you have a guardian angel why would I want a bellhop when I've got the CEO looking after me really that's really what it is you have the personal presence of God the Holy Ghost you live in an encapsulated environment you ever go get a get my wife's feeding me vitamin C in akinesia right now because she's got a cold doesn't want me to get it and you take that akinesia capsule pull it out it's not a tablet capsule pull it out all that stuff in it got the capsule you live inside of an encapsulated environment held in that cat who is it it's God the Holy Ghost that's security folks that's preservation you see what he says is the earnest of our inheritance you're gonna get an inheritance one day you've got the first piece of it right now you go buy a piece of real estate you put down some earnest money if the real estate cost you $100,000 and you put down $10,000 how much do you owe at the closing 90,000 why that 10 was part of the whole follow that wasn't assume is part of the whole you've got God the Holy Ghost he's the earnest he is the personal present and the guarantor that God the father's going to finish the rest of it or he'd abandon his his spirit and you're not gonna divide the Godhead that way the way you know you have God the Holy Spirit is because you've trusted the Lord Jesus Christ exclusively and alone nothing else two guys are out fishing and they looked up three guys out fishing they looked up and Jesus came walking across the water this is not Bible now Jesus came close to the boat the first guy says Lord could you help me I've been sitting here for two out my back is killing me I got this bad back the Lord comes over touched him and woo I'm healed the other guy says Lord I got this bad eyes I can't see could you and the Lord touched his eyes I'm thinking you can see the other guy said all right don't touch me don't touch me I'm on 100% disability well that have do that I had to do with something I forgot now would ya thinking that my North Carolina at least that's where the God told me about it but God the Holy Spirit is a present possession of every believer so the question is have you try trusted exclusive in the Lord Jesus Christ I spent years sitting in meetings like this as a young man lost on my way to hell the night I got saved December 31st 1962 nobody believed I got saved that night my preacher the youth leader of the group I was part of they said all Ricky you've been saved all along you just come to a deeper expression oh I've been lost on my way to hell don't you understand no no no no you've been doing this you've been doing when I was a that year I had one $100 savings bond in 1962 thousand money as the outstanding junior high teenager was 15 so what was a well rose and in the youth group so when I got saved I go I said I'm gonna lost I got saved they said no no you you gonna save all I said no no you know what it was I thought believing was working every time you talk about believing that's it walk down an aisle go him do this go do that pray through but I was I was on a prayer group I had a guy every morning at 8 o'clock I'd pray he'd pray he's over the owner I'm over here we prayed a prayer part I've been listen you can pray you can do all that stuff and be lost on your way to hell I know cuz I was so and I look at a crowd like this household of people I see you know there might be somebody here like I was because I sat in meetings like this lost thinking that religion thinking that something I did was what God wanted me to do and the night I realized it was not what I did is only what he did it was me trusting exclusively in that you know what I did I grabbed that so fast I could because I'd spent six months every night sent Lord don't let me down you know now I'm praying not let me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep - oh God don't let me die die not gonna die and go to hell and I did everything anybody told me none of it worked and that night I went to sleep went to bed said thank you Lord for saving my soul thank you Lord for Calvary just as I am without one plea but that thy blood was shed for me and that you bid me come to thee icon that tells you now you can you have to just listen you'll never understand God's Word until you got that settled because that gives you the one specific capacity to be the student I qualifies you to be a student of gone toward if you want to know why there's so many people out there study God's Word and come up with 50 different kind of you know 50,000 different ideas it's primarily because they're lost it's primarily because they don't have God the Holy Spirit being their teacher and the way you find out if that's true it's ask oh how do you have eternal life I mean be brave and ask them brother Ed Yarber was telling me a couple years ago down he's in Ohio he'll be here this weekend he was in Ohio and there's a famous denominational preacher wrote books about the King James Bible and goes all the country preaching and he preached for an hour and a half in that meeting that had went - never mentioned the cross never mentioned the gospel cloud listen you can do that you can talk about all kind of doctrine that you know were you're not preaching to evangelistic meeting I understand that but then at the end he gave an invitation for people to come get saved when everyone out he said met him at the back door said you know brother I like to hear testimonies can you tell me how and when you came to know for sure you have eternal life and that preacher looked at him said are you questioning my salvation everybody said well yeah I guess I am now that you mention it you can be a preacher to all stuff don't make any difference you have to be the right student you want to understand God's Word you have to have the right teacher you got to be saved number two you gotta have the right scripture you got to have the right book look at 2nd Timothy chapter 3 we just had the 55 hundredth anniversary of the Protestant Reformation October the 31st 1517 Martin Luther attacked his ninety-five remonstrance on the on the wall of the door of the church in Wittenberg he wasn't even saved when he did that five hundred years ago that event sparked what became known as the Protestant Reformation and eventually by 1520 to become the Protestant revolt and that was an event that that broke the political power of the Roman Church in Europe and set people free it's an event that took the Word of God and put it in the hands of the common people and because of that it was it was a movement that caused people to hear the gospel out of that book and the thing that made the Reformation the revolution it became is that they took that book and put it in the languages of the people Luther took your Bible the texture Bible comes from and translated it into German out of German it was translated into over 30 different colloquial languages and when people have the Word of God in their language in their hands it's a dangerous thing to religion but when he did that he did not translate the Catholic Bible he translated what we call the Protestant Bible in the century after that the mid in the mid 1500s the Roman Catholic Church mounted a Counter Reformation and that Counter Reformation focused on supplanting the Protestant Bible that was it's one of its stated goals the Council of Trent in the mid 1500s anathematized anybody that used that Bible you've gotten your loud put an official curse on you and that be your King James Bible hadn't been produced yet it was being produced in England to the Protestant referents there took a hundred years to produce it in English started with William Tyndale but by the way a hundred and fifty two hundred years before William Tyndale and Luther there were people just like you and me all over Europe why clifton in the mid 1300 translated the Bible into English in what's called middle English if you ever read Chaucer that kind of stuff is that kind of English Chaucer's Bible in The Canterbury Tales where the two things would historically are credited with establishing English as a modern language we move the Middle English Middle English into modern English which is what you speak he put the Bible in the language of the people he took that old Latin had been used by the Saints since the first century they didn't want the Catholic Bible the counter-reformation said you know what the you know what they did for white for white clothes trouble too hundred years after he's dead they burned they went and dug up his bones and burned them and then spread them on the river for William Tyndale trouble they they they bribed a good his best friend into betraying him into the hand of the papist and in Europe and they burned him at the stake they lit the fire with his with one of his Bibles that book came into your hands against all of the religious tyranny that was designed to keep it out of your hands you have to have a Bible that has all the verses in it that ought to be in it that leaves all the verses out that shouldn't be in it and we're not studying all that all that tonight but that's what you have to have there's some studies over here about preservation of the scripture if you need to know about that but listen you need to have the right my book you need to have a Bibles got all the verses in it thought to be there and all the verses out that shouldn't be there aren't there and the only Bible you can get in the English language that does that is a King James Bible not in New King James Bible that's a mugwort version anybody carrying a new King James Bible is a compromiser it isn't a King James Bible us-ally it's not a King James Bible and it's not a modern verse or the old by the the the modern text it professes and for the most part does use the Textus Receptus the right Greek text but then it uses the modern translation methodologies so a lot of the verses you know the for example the one that most people know about is when Paul talks about the faith of Christ the new Bible says faith in Christ or your New King James says faith in Christ he said well why did they do that if they're gonna be a King James why didn't they do the way the King James Bible did it because they follow the methodology they sympathize with the new Bibles but they know there's a problem with the text and whether you're a John MacArthur who puts a Study Bible out with a new King James Bible or you're a whoever that's a compromise you know what a Mugwump is got one foot on he's he's sitting on a fence got one foot on one side you know he got his he's got a head on one side and it's got his one on the other he's in the middle bugs on one side once on that side he's compromiser you need to have a Bible that you can trust 2nd Timothy 3 verse 16 all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable that's what you need to have is all scripture but notice verse 15 and from a child that has known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation did Timothy have the original manuscripts know what did he but did he have Scripture well all scripture is given by inspiration of God did he have the inspired Word of God even though he didn't have the original manuscripts in your Bible nobody ever had a a book made up of only original manuscripts the idea that you need to have original manuscripts as the authority is part of the Roman Catholic counter Protestant Reformation they have scholars they have their their writers say the way we're going to take the Bible away from the common people is tell them they can't trust it because they don't have the originals if you know who Phillips shaft is he quotes these people tells you about them you need to have the right book so it can be your authority you're not saying well maybe that's not a good translation you said there it is you need to be able to put a book on the table and say when that book speaks it's right and if I disagree with it I'm wrong it's not simple and if you don't have a book that you can put on the table said when it speaks it's right and I'm wrong I'm not the judge I don't get to decide what it says it's right and I'm wrong so if you're gonna study the Bible get through the right student with the right teacher but you also have to have the right book that the teacher talked you with me now that's an important issue you'll notice in this passage there to in fact come with him back to Isaiah chapter 30 there are 4.4 things you have to understand about the Bible that way one is this issue of Revelation God has revealed his word he revealed them to us by his Spirit number two is issue of inspiration the revelation is then written down Isaiah 30 verse number 8 now go write it before them in a table and note it in a book now why did he want him to write down his word that purpose read intended to writing it down it may be for the time to come forever and ever the reason you write it down is to preserve it intact for the future you follow the inspiration holy minato spake that's inspiration it's written down they are preserving the revelation part of the issue of inspiration is preservation because the way it's written the reason it's written down is to God said a lot of stuff that he didn't write down in his in his word then what would he wrote down he wrote down because he wanted it he wanted you to know about it if I was flying out here yesterday and God spoke to me on the airplane told me to do thus and so and I didn't tell you you wouldn't know about it wouldn't he'd have said something that you didn't know about how'd you feel about that yeah but what he's done you wouldn't have all you wouldn't know all that he's prepared you wouldn't have a full you wouldn't you wouldn't have the complete you couldn't be perfect throughly furnished unto all good works so he wrote it down for you and it's in his word so the you have inspiration you have revelation inspiration preservation and then you have translation come with me to Matthew chapter 21 this is a verse of scripture I've told people for years this verse kept me from being a modernist back when I was in college before I understood the Bible version issue Matthew chapter 22 I'm sorry verse 29 Jesus is talking to the rabbinical scholars of his day these are men that knew the biblical languages they'd been educated they'd have their college education their advanced degrees they had all of that verse 29 he says Jesus said in answered and said to them you do err not knowing the scripture nor the power of God so you can have all that education and not know the book and when you do you err Mark said you do greatly err why because you don't know the book verse 20 31 but as touching the resurrection of the Dead watch have you not read they are what people call the have you not read society they haven't given tendance to reading have you not read that which is spoken to you by God saying and then in quotes Exodus 3 you can read theology books till you're blue in the face to your eyeballs fall out you will never read a clearer more concise definition of what inspiration is than what Jesus just said it is that which is spoken to you by God and he said haven't you read he didn't have the original manuscripts he didn't even have the original Hebrew language at the time I mean think about that and he said the copy of God's Word that you have right here is that which is spoken to you by God that verse told me I did I couldn't be a modernist because I had to look for a book that was what God said not one that contained it which is what the new Orthodox say which is all the new Bibles say we contained the Word of God they all contain it it's hidden said well not contain is so you got to have the right scripture and when you do come with me to second Timothy again what you want to do with it is you need to study it there's not a one verse in the Bible that tells you how to study the Bible 2nd Timothy 2:15 study I'm glad there's only one verse because it focuses on the way you do it and there's no doubt note no way to miss this study to show thyself approved unto God not to your preacher not to your denomination not to your spouse not to yourself but to God a workman you want that word to work effectual in you that believe that needs not to be ashamed you stand on that book you've got nothing to be ashamed of the world will try to shame you Paul said I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ so it is the power of God he didn't mean I'm never embarrassed about what I'm preaching if you say well you're not a shame you never know he didn't say nobody ever embarrassed me no Myra put me with you he said I know that what I'm preaching will work if anybody believes it I'm not ashamed of telling you that this will work as a pastor through the years I've had people come to me with all kind of life problems difficult things tragic things personal things I've never feared to tell someone whose life is so screwed up you can't see a way out that if you'll trust Jesus Christ as your Savior and do what His Word says standing that identity and apply the truth of his word it works because you know what it'll work I've seen people addicted to the awfulest kind of substances and it works I've seen people with marriage problems their lives so screwed up with infidelity and and meanness and stupidness and hatred and anger and watch that the gospel work I've been on death row sat with a man on death row just not two two years ago now he had raped so many women they couldn't even tell Heaney couldn't even remember he said from the time I was a teenager they caught him when he's 40 he'd been out he said I'd been a rapist and finally the way they caught him was he murdered this he raped this young girl and murderer cut her throat mutilated her and he because of that particularly they caught him and he's on death row in Florida and he looked at me says could that possibly be any hope for me I sit in a cell 23 hours a day 3 days a week then let me go out and take a shower for 30 minutes and all this kind of stuff could there be any hope for me and I said you know your that your your you're just you're the best candidate I've seen lately because I can say that to everybody and you know that guy trusted the Lord Jesus Christ I don't know if he meant it or not he said he did I can't read your mind I don't know what's in your heart I told you need to read the first five chapters of Romans he didn't have a Bible to him anything the brothers there got it got a Bible and got it into him we have a group that goes into that prison every week got it in for him I got a letter from him I've read those things 27 times 27 right as I stand here and he said you know I see what you're saying to me and I know for sure I've trusted Jesus Christ as my savior well two years ago I was back down there and I had opportunity go in and see him again and you know it was like it was like he lit the room up in that dark cell now I say that to you not not to not to glamorize his sin because I don't we the the glamorous and the Savior not to sin sometime you if you forget that the the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes that book has that power and what Paul says I'm not ashamed he said I know if you'll believe it it'll do what it says well that's what he's talking about here when he says you need not to be ashamed it doesn't mean nobody's ever going to try to you know do some religious shaming on you that's a big word today you know fat shaming and that kind of stuff whatever it is you know aid shaming and stuff that's that's the weenie of an age we live in but you all you know what it is people try to embarrass you doesn't mean you might not be caught and you don't know answer he said look you know what it'll never let you down rightly dividing the word of truth that's the key now you got the right student you got the right scripture now you need to have the right kind of study so you're gonna rightly divide it first number seven he says consider what I say and the Lord give the understanding all things so if you consider what Paul says you'll get understanding where does understanding come from consider what I say he doesn't come from except wonder what go with it what does Paul say there are thirteen books in your Bible that begin with his name would that be a good place to start and consider him what he had to say the answer is yes so when we talk about study in the Bible the right study the right study is rightly dividing the word of truth let me give you an illustration come on Luke chapter four Luke chapter 4 Jesus the first public message that he gave recorded in the Book of Luke at he was tempted of the devil in the wilderness verse 14 he returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee and there went out of Fame of him throughout all the region round about and he taught in the synagogue and being glorified of all Luke 4 verse 16 and he came to Nazareth where he had betrayed been brought up and as his custom was he went under the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up for the Reed and there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah that's Isaiah and when he opened the book he found the place where it was written the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised to preach the acceptable year of the Lord and he closed the book and gave it to the minister and he sat down and the eyes of all of them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him because he did something odd if you go back to Isaiah chapter 61 verse one and two and you read the passage he's quoting and I was a 61 verse 2 it says to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord , and the day of vengeance of our God notice he didn't say that he prepared to preach except for year of the Lord and he shut the book and why did he do that verse 21 he began to send to them this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears if he to read all the way to in verse 2 he couldn't have said that because that's the second Advent that they have vengeance Jesus Christ rightly divided between the first coming and the second coming at the comma in Isaiah 61 verse 2 that comma separates the two comings two thousand years and he knew how to know what this was and where that was is when you study the Bible dispensational II when you rightly divide it go back to second time of the two what you were doing is you're going to draw a time line you can draw a line a line a time line that contains the scripture 2nd Timothy 2 verse number 16 but shun profane and vain babbling for they will increase unto more ungodliness and their word will eat as doth a canker of whom is hymenaeus and philetus who concerning the truth have erred and what did they do saying that the resurrection is passed already and overthrow the faith of some they didn't say there was no resurrection you see that they don't deny the resurrection they just put it in the wrong place on the timeline they said here we are here's the fall of Israel here's the dispensation of grace and the body of Christ the body of Christ is going to end with an event we call the rapture it's the resurrection Christ is going to come back the dead and Christ rise which what I remain to be caught up to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord here's the here's the resurrection of the Dead right here they said that's past so they're saying where are they listen we're over here and that's past you follow them they put the resurrection at the wrong place listen if they're if they're in the body of Christ where are they the resurrections future not past rightly dividing the word has to take the doctrine in Scripture and put it at the right place on the timeline that's all it's about so when you want to know how to rightly divide the word laquifa in ephesians chapter 2 and watch paul draw you a timeline the chapter 2 verse 11 wherefore remember pulses that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands so there is a in the Bible there's this thing called time passed verse 13 he says but now and then in verse number 7 it talks about the ages to come now what did I just put up here in that future present past past present future I've been drawing that chart for 40 years and people wow that's wonderful amazing well smart smart I mean past present and future how brilliant did you have to do to be to figure that out Jesus I'm sent to you don't have to be able to produce perform brain surgery to get did you see the thing on the news today where they just perform the first head transplant a China a Chinese doctor successfully transplanted a head well it turns out he did it on a cadaver the head the guy was dead and the head was dead but he successfully got all the veins and nerves and I'll put back together said now they're looking for a couple of living patients good luck and yet you didn't say what what in the world you know that's just it goofball you don't have to be able to perform brain surgery if you can figure past present and future you can understand your Bible visa to verse 11 we're full remember that your being in time past Gentiles in the flesh who call the read the verse I'm my minds kind of foggy who are called uncircumcision by that which is called the circumcision in the flesh made by hands so there's two groups of people back in time pass there's a group of people that cause the circumcision now you know that's Israel and then a group of people that cause the uncircumcision that's everybody but Israel here are the nations of the earth down here all the Gentile nations of the earth and then you have the nation Israel up here and you understand time past has a way to identify it the way you know you're in time past is when that distinction between the circumcision and the uncircumcision is the way God is dealing with people you're in time past how do I know I can read verse 11 okay have you not read yes a half what did you read time past is when there's some circumcision and uncircumcision and there's a division between them verse 12 that at that time you were without Christ so in the Lord Jesus Christ shows up here you know what these people down here are without him he shows up in the books of Matthew Mark Luke and John and in those books Matthew Mark Luke and John he comes only to the nation this room and he didn't do that - you know the verse in Matthew chapter 10 verse verse so go back to Matthew 10 when Christ takes his Twelve Apostles he takes the Twelve Apostles back here Commission's who makes him there were disciples he makes some apostles and I in Matthew chapter 10 and then he gives them the Great Commission anytime anybody tells you about the Great Commission that's really Matthew chapter 10 this Commission starts right here with the commissioning of the Twelve Apostles and it tells them what their ministry is going to be all the way through acts through the the 70th week of Daniel over here the Tribulation Period it tell us about the second coming of Christ and the kingdom that Jesus is going to come and set up all of that's in Matthew 10 the whole shooting match the idea that Matthew 28 mark sixteen Luke 24 John 20 and acts one is decommission it's just that's just a bunch of religious tomfoolery the term Great Commission didn't exist before the 1800s it was developed in the mid-1800s by by a missionary movement who was sending who was sending missionaries to India and Burma and they used it as a term to raise money in missionary conferences from people in America and in Europe they invented the term nobody in 1700 used that term the reason that didn't is because the missionaries hadn't gotten gotten over them needed the money yet that's right when you go to a missionary conference it's all about the Great Commission that's why when you say we don't follow the Great Commission no you don't believe in missions because all that's about it came about through those missionaries and the missionary movement in the 1800s but the Great Commission really starts back in Matthew 10 the full version of it when he gives in the Commission in Matthew 28 after his resurrection he spends 40 days with them before he ascends into heaven and he gives them here as the book of Acts starts he gives them Matthew 28 but the Matthew 28 Commission talks about the kingdom over here Matthew 28 he says go ye therefore and teach all nations over here they're going to teach the Gentiles baptizing them you know what you do when you teach the nations numbers chapter number 23 says that Israel is not to be reckoned among the nations when he sent them to teach the nations he was sending Israel a priest Gentiles not Israel preached other Israelis now why wouldn't they preach the Israelis because the when he comes back here and sets up the New Covenant Hebrews chapter 8 and Jeremiah 31 says in the New Covenant they'll no more say to everyone to his neighbour send know the word for though all know me from the least of the greatest the New Covenant all Israel is saved when you go in the kingdom only it save Jews go into that Kingdom they're not gonna need somebody to evangelize them they're gonna be the evangelizers of the nation's that's why the Great Commission in Matthew 28 says that you teach them all things observe commanded you would it teach him back here he said if you don't keep the law you have somebody doesn't teach the law they'll not be great in the kingdom you teach the law you'll be great in my kingdom so they're going to go by the law he's gonna write that law in their hearts you see if you go about what the text actually says they don't know anything but they only bring confusion mark 16 mark 16 is going to be a passage that fits right in here did you ever wonder why you have all those signs following them that believe if they drink any deadly thing it should not hurt them have you had a problem out lately well not unless you live in Flint Michigan but there's some people that tribulation you'll have to drink some stuff Revelation chapter 8 that wormwood every one of those things they matriculate right through here Luke chapter 24 in Acts chapter one fit right in here you'll be a witness on them in all nations beginning at Jerusalem and that's right where they begin right here when the Holy Spirit comes those things fit exactly where they fit in the program but those are piecemeal things starts out like this verse Matthew 10:5 these twelve Jesus sent forth and commanded them saying go not into the way of the Gentiles and in any city of the Samaritans any or not but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel come with me - and as you go preach saying we print the kingdom of heaven is at hand come with me to mark chapter 7 just so you understand why it's that way had nothing do with God not loving Gentiles it had to do with God had a plan to save the Gentiles through Israel God told Abraham back here when he made the Abrahamic covenant and if any and he promised Abraham and that in that covenant of the Covenant of circumcision that he'd make him a great nation and in thee shall all the nations of the earth be blessed that's why it's going to be redeemed Israel that takes that salvation out to the nations over here the problem in Matthew Mark Luke and John isn't the Gentiles the problems Israel they're not being who God made them to be had been co-opted by the adversary instead of God only gave one religion he gave it to the nation Israel through Moses he calls it the Bible calls it pure religion but Israel had corrupted that pure religion that God gave them by the commandments of men and had corrupted it into the Jews religion so much so that Jesus looked at their religious leaders of his day and he said you are of your father the devil I know you have Abraham as your physical father but spiritually you're following the devil's program that's why I told him seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and then all these things would be attitude there's a spiritual thing that had to be produced before the physical is going to be there mark chapter 6 mark chapter 7 you know the story about this little syrophoenician woman verse number 26 verse number 24 I'm sorry and from thence he arose and went into the boarders of Tyre and Sidon and entered into a house and would have no man know it but he could not be hid for a certain woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard of him and came and fell at his feet the one was a Greek a syrophoenician by nation and she besought him that he should would cast out cast forth the devil out of his daughter out of her daughter I want Jesus said unto her let the children first be one filled not fed filled for he's not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs who had to be filled first Israel not just fed not just offered they had to be filled you see it was the salvation of Israel in the program that God gave to Abraham it was through the salvation of Israel being fill-ins were being filled up with that that salvation that then salvation would go the nation that little Gentile woman understood that that's why she said true Lord but the dogs eat the crumbs that fall off the shoulders table they got the table they got the privilege but you know there's some other stuff supposed to come over to us she understood the that's why I said haven't since that kind of that great faith in Israel she understood the position that's why she got the blessing so when you're reading Matthew Mark Luke and John you're reading about the earthly Ministry of Christ to the nation Israel Romans chapter 15 verse number eight Jesus Paul says that Jesus Christ was a minister and he's our Savior he's God the Son so forth but he was also a preacher prophet he was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God to confirm the promises made under the fathers and the Gentiles should glorified God with them so this is all a part of what the Bible calls prophecy and what happens back here in time past is this guy back in time past has a hope and that hope has to do with being delivered from this time of Wrath and judgment against their sins into this kingdom over here where Satan's going to be bound and the blessings and the glory of God are going to rest on the nation Israel and go out from them and fill the earth he says about that kingdom that the knowledge of God will cover the earth as the water covers the sea from shore to shore Jesus shall reign that's the hope back there now they got in trouble because they didn't keep the Covenant and they got the curse so Christ comes and redeems them from the curse here he's resurrected he's trained the little flock back here and they're going to carry on that ministry over here in the book of Acts that he trained them to carry on come with me to the book of Hebrews look a bruise the clearest verse that will help you understand what's going on in the book of Hebrews probably as Hebrews chapter 2 verse three and four and five by the way if if you're gonna read the book of Hebrews who do you think the book of Hebrews would be written to again it's made for you to understand who's it written to who spoke it when who wrote Hebrews people like to argue about who wrote Hebrews the first word in every epistle tells you who wrote it almost there awesome John's would that be good enough they need to argue anymore god hoots hundred times in divers manners spake in time past has now spoken unto us by his son now let's see what he's talking about chapter 2 verse 3 how should we escape we neglect so great salvation which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord that's Matthew Mark Luke and John and was confirmed on us the unto us by them that heard him that's the early part of Acts how do I know God also bearing them witness with signs and wonders and divers miracles and gifts of the ages to come I look at the rest of that verse where of we speak what does the writer of the book of Hebrews think he's talking about time pass but now the ages to come so if I'm going to put the book of Hebrews on that timeline where would I put it time pass but now the ages to come I'd put it in the ages to come and you can take Hebrews all the way to the book of Revelation and do exactly the same thing with them the next book James James a servant of Jesus Christ to the twelve tribes scattered abroad is that you who are the twelve tribes scattered abroad that's this rayul that's the scattered remnant of Israel first Peter chapter one he says to those that are scattered abroad who's that that's is where you're going to be a royal priesthood a holy nation what is this this is Israel you go right through those pants those books everyone Hebrews Revelation by the way in Paul's epistles every book starts with his name there are thirteen Pauline epistles Matthew Mark Luke and John therefore book of Acts is one count'em Hebrews James first Peter second Peter first John second John third john jude revelation how many is that nine there are 27 books in your New Testament that's five five and nine is 114 right okay there's 13 books written for you if you leave out the book of Acts and you add 4 to that what do you get 13 there are 13 books Matthew want Luke and John Hebrews Revelation written exclusively about Israel there are 13 books written exclusively about us there's one book written about both the transition the way your the way God put your Bible together that's just the indexed of your Bible now writing and dividing the word isn't just putting the books in the right place just taking the doctrines that's in those book and put them in the right place but hey having the books in the right place helps doesn't it yeah I look at then I said that is that to me that is one of the most I go holy it's written so you can understand it folks you don't have to wonder it's right there it's so simple a full oh you know wayfaring man boys a fool can not air their end unless he wants to okay now come with me to Romans chapter number 11 in one hand and they that is Israel stumble they should fall god forbid so they stumble they stumble at that stumbling-stone right here but they don't fall Jesus prays he says Father forgive them for they know not what they do and he gives him a renewed opportunity of repentance the Apostles in acts 1 to say without this time restore again the Kingdom of Israel he says I can't say yet because the opportunities that he didn't say no I'm gonna start the body of Christ he says we'll see and the reason he's going to see us there's a test period going on out here there's an opportunity a legitimate opportunity given to the nation Israel to repent and receive her kingdom but what happened but rather through their fall then they do fall salvation has come to the Gentiles so now it's Sir the fall of Israel not through their rise in glory and a kingdom but through them being set aside verse 15 it says the casting away of them if the fall of them that through their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles to provoke them to jealousy and how does the salvation come to the Gentiles verse 13 I speak to you Gentiles in as much as I am the apostle of the Gentiles I magnify my office if by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh and might save some of them further casting where them be the reconciling world what should the receiving them be but life from the dead when he when he can't when he said Israel aside he reconciled the world he put the world all these people down here in a new different position the word reconcile me is to have your status changed you're an enemy you and I do that but that that I could I could just listen to that forever I could listen to this forever every time I've ever taught this I heard it and it thrills me every time I hear it again because of the precision of this book Titus chapter 1 verse number 2 in hope of eternal life which God that cannot lie promised notice he promised it before the world began but hath in due time manifested his word through preaching committed unto me he doesn't manifest that thing until here through preaching committed unto me notice according to the commandment of God our Savior there is a commandment you ought to try to keep that you can keep people ask me all the time they say brother Rick don't you think we ought to keep the Ten Commandments and I used to try to explain to them while that we found out to some of you not stupid that's a stupid question sure you should you should keep the Ten Commandments duh how smart is that yes you should the question is it should you the question is how you you need to have the right study and four you have to have this there's a secret and that's the secret right there without that that book will never make sense to you without recognizing the difference between the prophetic program and the mystery program that's the great division the Bible will never make since Romans chapter number 16 and we'll be talking about this more this weekend in salvation for us in the house of David of his servant David as he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets which have been since the world began what happened when John the Baptist is born he's fulfilling what the prophets have been prophesying since the world began you know what you're reading in Matthew Mark Luke and John that which is God spoke by the mouth of his prophets since the world began Acts chapter 3 on the day of Pentecost which is in chapter 2 Peters farewell the Holy Spirit he speaks as the Spirit gave them utterance and he says in verse 18 those things which God before has showed by the mouth of all his prophets that Christ should suffer he a soul fulfilled repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord and he shall send Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you so you crucified Him God's raised him up he's fulfilled everything the scripture said he was going to do he's going to come back over here pour his wrath on his enemies set up his kingdom everything every every jot and tittle been fulfilled whom the heaven must receive and here's how long it's going to be away until the times of restitution of all things watch which God has spoken about the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began that's called prophecy that's what starts out in the first seven chapters of Acts is that which is spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began when you come to Paul that changes from the 16 now you're going to look at stuff that was hidden now you look at something that was hidden from the beginning of the world some that was not made manifest since the world since the foundation of the world Romans 16:25 now to him that is everything the religion says and you are and I'm not trying to make you a rebel I'm going to tell you to be faithful to what's in that book take your time figure it out stand on what you know listen if you stand on what you know you'll be such a revolutionary you don't have to know everything you'll just know enough to make trouble enough to be of help to others no man just recently got SATA said
