THE TENT. Deer Hunting 2017. Second Weekend. Cold!

good morning everybody and welcome back and it changed it work plans cousin the weather it's just cold and brutal down here today yeah so I've got the guys doing stuff tomorrow and I was gonna go up to the tent tomorrow morning and I said screw it I'm not gonna sit at home today I might as well go up north get myself in a deer stand even though it's gonna be below zero tonight because I can't shoot a deer stand at home it's ten minutes after 6:00 in the morning reimu right around ten o'clock to a corner rounder George and Tom have been up there hunting this whole week and I wasn't yesterday anyway two nights ago down and they see on the trail camera George sent at midnight there was a buck that came to because there was some scrapes or some tracks I think it was a Baca there was some dough was on his trail camera but maybe else today when they sat out there all excited they didn't see any deer so say he I don't know but an hour from the tent right now my truck says it's 9 degrees outside just stopping it'll kill you the truck just forced to run to my right side looks like they must have got about an inch of snow up here last night is that right side is floured website is not deteriorated since I left two days ago we're gonna be running into some snow up ahead well I just went to it's not here around [Music] well I made it up here that's eight degrees right now Wendy it's cold get inside I'm gonna clean some of those ashes out of that wood stove and get that thing fired up it says it's 23.4 in here check that out I left two days ago almost exactly we left about this time two days ago and there's still a ton of hot coals on the snow I think I got most of my stuff in here this bag has all the hats and gloves Electronics bag it has a lot of chargers all kind of stuff my clothes bag with all my other stuff in there too my camera bag guns are all in the truck I'll leave them there so they don't get warm and then have to get cold again I still have to bring the food in but that'll just sit out on that on the front porch because I don't need to put a lot of that stuff in the freezer it'll space throw solid just sitting out there we're going up well it's just before 2 o'clock time to get all my heavy clothes on let's go sit in the stand it's gonna be brutal out there but and I don't think that you are gonna be moving around but you just never know [Music] well that about does it for tonight that cameras pulling in more light than what there really is here shooting time has about two minutes left it is cold didn't see anything there is some fresh tracks I mean probably last night tracks down there but nothing doing right now I think I'll come back out to this one in the morning [Music] I was gonna make chili tonight for supper I have the bunch of them boxes my favorite whatever that you always use I don't remember what kind it is so I look at the boxing and I have one pound of hamburger thought out and it says it needs two two and then it also needed a can of tomato paste or tomato sauce I think it was paste I'm not sure I don't have the hat so I was like okay I'm done I could use ketchup or something for that but the other thing that ground beef would be totally frozen solid so anyway I'm just gonna cook up just a regular I do this kind of meal at home sometimes and I don't have any mushrooms or onions up here so I'm just rehydrating some here and I'm just gonna fry this stuff up in a fry pan and it's always really good [Music] [Music] [Music] a little bit of my Johnny's hunters went down there [Music] [Music] I have these vegetables I brought last week but the frigerators before it froze them this is called broccoli coleslaw supposed to just be like a salad nope we'll just fry it up [Music] [Music] okay everyone well the power went out up here I had to turn on the gas lanterns it doesn't matter it's dinner time so I'm just filling out the journal here and I texted George cuz the power is out here and he's up here right now and there's very few places on the lake but he has a cabin across the lake and his power is out too so he said that his thermometer says ten below zero so he's not sure he's even gonna go off the money mine says zero but mine is attached tight to that pine tree so it takes a long time for the tree to cool down and so anyway it's cold out there [Music] okay everyone while it's almost 10:30 coming ahead for bed with no power it's still not on I'm gonna have to sleep in my bunk that I slept in four years that one right down there because the back bedroom without the fans going in it's this cold and it's well below zero there's no way to get the heat back there so looks like we're going back to the old school and I'm sleeping up front [Music] good morning everybody sometime overnight the power did come back on right now it's ten below zero outside so this morning what I'm gonna do because it's so cold it's 10 below that means it's going to drop to I don't know 12 or 13 below and that Sun starts coming up instead of being out there right at 5:30 which is an hour before you can shoot I will wait until I'll get out there about 6:00 I'm only sitting on that stand a half hour before shooting that'll allow me to sit an extra half hour after it gets laid out because this gonna get cold fast [Music] well I've been out here for about four hours still about six below right now my toes are a little chilly I think I'm gonna get out of the stand I might drive the loop or go down by my forest and just see if there's any tracks I haven't heard anybody that's driven in on the road you can usually hear them behind me in the stand so I should be able to see if there's any new tracks or anything going on I'm looking at the tracks here nobody else has driven through here this morning except for me everybody must be smarter than me deer are not moving around today [Music] I'm just gonna walk in a little ways here towards my far stand that was in last weekend then see if there's any fresh tracks one set of dope tracks and they have to be from last night or come in from over here though I have never seen that on my stand unless it curbed over to the right there's one that's crossed over there's like a trail right here we had some over here before well nothing really back there up here real close to the road [Music] looks like those guys went in there and cleared that out some maybe to get to that stand I'm gonna walk up there and see cuz that's way back there is where I still have that trail camera they definitely did not drive any four-wheeler back here to pull any deer actually it looks like whoever they do well we might have to give this a try later on maybe run all the way back there and they're only back a third of the way though don't know what the rest of that's going to look like I'm just saying you're thinking if I shouldn't just do it right now it's cold they walk back there it's just see how far we can get this is where that guy goes in to that clearing we gotta go that way a long ways you watch me see a deer I might walk here and shoot one nobody else here to help me drag it a home you could just about set up anywhere on this trail rabbits deer it's all kind of tracks wolf tracks in here everything is using this easiest place to walk definitely not making it through there we have to cut into the woods a bunch of that stuff I had to go through on my hands and knees to get through I don't know if this is such a good idea but I really wants that camera can't tell early but I think this is where it kind of remember when I was here before kind of tease or wise off I'm guessing this since everything is falling over right there that was the old trail clearing is right on the other side of these trees that's really something when you just before the clearing tracks everywhere on the trail and here you can see that they use in a while back but since this happened nothing I wonder if the tree with the trail cameras even still salmon well I got it in the backpack I got a drink of water it took me about 50 minutes to get out here so I think we'll turn around head back for the truck after all that you get back to the Tantus pretty appealing that that would still Stoke back up again just bought me lunch time I just loaded up that wood stove it's only 46 degrees in here if you don't keep that stove build with wood when it's as cold as it was this morning it doesn't take long to cool down in here well there's nothing exciting on it this time here's me when I switched out the SD card that was on the 19th of October and then I'm the 25th somebody else walked all the way back there at 1:30 3:00 in the afternoon but you know you go past that and then it just ends and two minutes later he's walking out and that was on October 25th well on October 28th that tree had already fallen you can see that there's snow on the camera that storm then it really got snow on camera and then I just have a few pictures like this I suppose the wind or maybe the weight of the snow is everything seems to be dropping in anything and then there I am today on the town so no deer on that one in it that it wouldn't take long and that tree was in front of that so yeah well I'm gonna put on my heavy clothes now and head out to the stand I can't seem to catch a break now the wind has really picked up out there so I don't know I think it's gonna be coming from my right side I'm not sure the front of my legs are sore from walking through all that snow to get that camera well everyone once again we're just about done with shooting time you know it's about ten degrees above right now so it's much warmer than it was this morning when I was sitting out here at 12 below but with the wind my toes aren't cold at all but it was tougher to sit here but just because your hands get colder and your face get colder just a little bit of a raw afternoon here well it's 73 degrees in here and rising which feels really nice after being out in that cold wind all afternoon I think I'm gonna pull the cover off the barbecue and start that up and I'm gonna do a a chuck roast on there then I'll have some good stuff deep tonight make a couple baked potatoes and you only have that for lunch tomorrow also all that's sitting there smoking right at about 255 degrees so that's pretty good it's really gotten windy out though I need to check the weather and see what it's going to be like for tomorrow morning tonight snow showers snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches those 17 to 21 south wind 5 to 15 miles per hour with gusts to around 25 miles per hour Veterans Day Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow showers highs near 30 southwest wind around 10 miles per hour with gusts to around 25 miles per hour Saturday night mostly cloudy low 23 ok so the weather it's gonna be warmer tomorrow a little bit windy we'll see it's not gonna be as bad as it was today looking on the internet it says a low of 13 tonight with about two inches of snow and then tomorrow a high of 31 that'll seem like a summer day [Music] that looks like a beautiful tent dinner it's time to eat I probably have 150 movies up here at the tent and I can't figure out what I want to watch and I don't have a whole lot of Star Trek here I've got that at home so let's see the shooter or the core are good ones to go to I'm going for shooter today well it's about eight minutes after 10:00 I'm heading for bed I don't see you guys in the morning good morning everybody it's about 30 degrees warmer this morning than it was yesterday its main teen right now and that wind is still whipping out here so uh it'll be interesting to see what it feels like sitting on the stand I was just sitting here doing a little bit more editing on the deer-hunting 2017 opening weekend movie you should be leaving his place shortly and be up here later on this morning I imagined George said he's gonna go hunting this morning too so I won't be the only one out there by tonight my dad will be and he's going to sit with Sara Stan [Music] try to get you guys back to the tent by noon so you don't miss out on Saturday polka there's one set of tracks over mine from last night well it's definitely warmer out here but they've taken that wind is pretty strong kind of hitting me directly in the face a little bit on the right eye and in that direction good wind good wind placement I was really hoping that wind would die down this morning I suppose you waiting for me to shoot a deer huh you waiting for one too why not you and your friend come back tonight and I'll get you some more I got to go get warmed up I think I'm gonna have to get a couple loads of dirt brought into the spring my way to the tent got really bad and during deer hunting [Music] [Music] [Music] I'm just doing some more editing on last weekend's deer hunting opener the movie I was kind of expecting George to stop by here he has said he thought he would sit in the stand tool about 10:30 and he has that I don't know if it was a six-point buck or whatever it is on that trail camera that he wanted to show me but it's already a quarter after 11 so maybe he's not gonna stop by I know my dad should be here I would think by noon or 1:00 o'clock I know he was leaving this morning so I expect he'll be over here eventually take a little break from editing the video and have some lunch [Music] oh wow wow really next weekend so I'm thinking Tom's gonna come back either tomorrow or Monday and I think maybe I'm thirst like Thursday well yeah to the trouble a good guy would just pull right up there and then walk across and then will you then walk into that clearing you can follow her tracks you can have to climb over a couple of trees that fell down when you get to the clearing I think you'll only be able to follow her tracks before I went off this way for the trail camera you just look across that first thing and there's two of the big pine trees that are good idea just go to a wired sazon what yeah so yeah he almost lost and yeah and he had perfect that sprinkler on the roof and he couldn't get started the fires coming it couldn't yet started well and I don't know why there's a woman that bought the land past him but from his driveway towards hers and I don't know if it's all his yet and hers or somebody else has something but man they got big piles yeah yeah so as you guys just saw George and my dad stopped by George was getting off a stamp coming over and my dad just got up here this is a buck that he's been seeing on his trail camera look at this look at the neck on that deer he's making a scrape right here and George said and he caught it on camera that's a nice deer definitely in full rut he also caught these dough's on here or no that's what they look like well I'm gonna get my heavy clothes on and head to the stand it's a little bit earlier than I did yesterday but it's warmer out it's 28 and that wind is starting to die down so maybe the deer will be moving around as I was getting up into my stand there was two deer out in the clearing one all I saw was a flag the other one I could have shot it I had it in my scope but I could not see the head on it and I'm not looking for a doe so and it was it would have been a long shot but I have made them that long before but anyway at least the deer are moving around it's the first one I've seen well shooting time just ended I didn't see any more than those initial two when I came in here perfect night though the windows all died down it's 27 degrees I didn't even have to wear gloves it's just real nice but I'll have to go back now I think it's supposed to be nice like this in the morning to would be perfect but tonight I'll have to clean up at the tent cuz after the morning hunt I have to head home because I got a lot of work to do on the beginning part of this coming week [Music] well I got everything cleaned up that I could get cleaned up in there I don't want to put anything in my truck until tomorrow cuz I'll be putting it on top of my gun and everything I needed tomorrow I just had leftovers for supper Skyped with Melissa it's about 10:30 and I'm heading to bed I'll be back on the stand tomorrow morning well I've been up for almost 45 minutes here and just a little bit I'm gonna start the truck I got the bed made just packing a few things up and just one time you go to the deer stand well it's a pretty nice morning out there to sit on the stand it's 26 degrees there's a little bit of a breeze out of the north but it's not too horribly bad at least not here hopefully it'll be the same way I went into the stand nice and quiet maybe those do you'll be moving around now the last drive out to the stand in the morning until next week you want some more there you go it's funny how they know they can't eat the M&Ms well it's just more time to head back to the tent pack things up and head for home and be back up here and for days or so just didn't really feel it this morning last night I thought for sure that was gonna be deer out but today probably getting a little antsy a lot of work to do this week and the four-hour drive home our stuff to do at the tent I'll wait a few more minutes here and then I'm going to pack it up looking at the weather for this coming week here I come up here I don't know if I yell oh come on Thursday probably Friday but right now that's five days out and it's showing four inches of snow up here that day so the weather changes but that might be kind of interesting privyet I mean it was a nice morning for it but the last thing he felt like for surely today I talked to keep it that's right and later yep and you see it easily - you know I'm so [Applause] well I think that about does it
