Buvey was sensational in this. Buvey is usually a knob but he didn’t miss even once in this whole debate.

It was great except for Brian constantly making it about Newcastle. Just because Ashley has been in charge of Newcastle despite protests happening for years doesn't mean everyone should just resign themselves to the Super League.

Everyone was great in this except for Brian. He really can't view anything without a big fat Newcastle filter on it huh?

I have been watching these guys forever, some may shit on them, but they all play there part for what is mostly a great discussion.

I think one or two put on a minor show to make it more interesting, but if you watch them enough they're all great lads with Footballers hearts who just want the best for the game.

Just a shame that True Geordie HAS to talk about Newcastle every other sentence, yes we get it, Mike Ashley is a cunt, no news there. But maybe focus on how the entire fucking sport could be ruined instead of whining about Newcastle.

Rory and Buvey were fucking spot on.

Whole video is well worth a watch imo. Laurence is just as brilliant as ever all the way through. Highly recommend giving it a watch

watch the kickoff for free live every single weekend only on twitch the link is in the description below [Music] what about the kickoff bit of an impromptu kickoff podcast because some of the most mental in football history is happening earlier our producer is going to sort of fill us in and we're going to try to make sense of this okay so last night the european super league was announced breakaway league uh the tops or big six clubs in england manchester united you manchester united um spurs did you see manchester united twice manchester city sorry he's a producer not a he's not an influence manchester city man united spurs arsenal tottenham chelsea are the clubs they've all left the eca which means they're now out of european competitions uefa competitions which potentially means the champions league we actually know they've left that yeah they've all left that confirmed confirmed by the eca yeah they've all left up they've all left that group so now that also means and the group chat and the group okay the what's up group as well as that fifa and uefa have said they will bore all players involved in the competition from their competitions too so that now means that the eurozone is in jeopardy the world cup fifa did come out with a fairly unpunchy statement after all this though and sort of went yeah we're kind of willing to talk a bit or of course yeah because right because they called their bluff yeah so so okay so you what is the aca and what does leaving that mean leaving that means you're out of all you're you're not in the champions league anymore you're basically it's like formally handing in your notice at work we're off from it so as it stands the champions league just has psg left in it so by proxy psg just win the champions league what about the premier league is that a part of it premier league is still to be decided the premier league are just sitting there going well do we do the same as they did or are they just going to get screwed or like so the clubs that haven't obviously been announced in it yet that some people may have thought would have been psg who are standing firm and say they're going to be you know not involved at all bayern dortmund um so no clubs from france or germany at the moment are within this uh obviously the big three from spain are in italy you've got your ac milan and you bet you ac enter into juventus but also you don't have your eye x's or your portals still there's still three teams to be named and that could be your porto your iacs newcastle newcastle i think we've filled up the english quota so the the point of discussion is boys where does this leave football the euros obviously is right around the corner and apparently this european super league is set to start at the start of august that soon the euros is that part of the problem as well will that not take place so we don't players involved in the european super league cannot take part in the euros as it stands allegedly okay so they're putting up a united front now to try and um get us to buckle get get the big six to buckle get the spanish clubs to buckle however the main problem with this is the reason people watch football generally speaking is to see the best players at the best clubs and the biggest clubs have recognized that and realize it seems the premier league advertising money the champions league advertising money really it's us who give gets that it's also so if we just off make our own league cut these bottom feeders out cut all the clubs who don't draw any money out like you know for me as a fight fan it's like if the top five fighters of every division in the ufc went yeah we're going to start our own thing now we'll see you later ufc we're just going to take all the money here because we're what they pay for yes that's it that's exactly what's happening can i can i just like that as a bit of a i think that's what the understanding of how football is and currently kind of how it it sort of works that way a lot of people do watch barcelona a lot of people do watch real madrid money-wise i'm talking money-wise yeah and and obviously they you know they pull in a lot of numbers but there are a lot of fallacies in making that argument and saying that you're the only pull of that because it doesn't acknowledge the previous 70 years that's gone before that in english football where wolves were part of it nottingham forest were part of it leeds were part of it but i'm talking about european football and those kind of things right so whilst that is that might feel like that's true it doesn't mean that we just want to see that and a pure version of that therefore is only those teams only playing each other and that that's the best of football what that means is that's the peak of competition and i think that's what a lot of people are sort of missing in this is the fallacy here is that people go this is the best teams playing the best stuff people will want to see that all the time but it's because of money it's because of money like if you're if you're looking at it purely from a financial perspective chelsea never need to play brighton hove albion again there's nothing in that if you're if you're trying to make the most out of every fixture chelsea never ever needs to go to the amex it's pointless chelsea need to play liverpool in new york city on a monday and then they need to play juventus in qatar on the thursday there is nothing in it for chelsea to go to turf more but just that's why they're trying to get rid of it just to be clear though rory you you i don't i think there is actually a plan yet to take the game's glasses where it's going but it's where it's going i mean we've called it we've called it spot on so far yeah that's clearly this is something that has been talked about multiple times on the kickoff with you rory and you lawrence especially from my memory saying this is going to happen it's just a matter of time we definitely didn't think would happen this soon well no it's i mean the announcement timing has certainly taken us by surprise but the fact that it's come around is sadly not surprising at all because there's something crucial as well we're all calling it and it's because everybody is the european super league it is if you look at any statement it isn't called the european super league it's called the super league and what that is for me at least we're being you know slightly trying to predict the future here as we have done previously on this show that to me suggests ultimately into miami playing it ultimately al hilal playing it and it becomes a super league of worldwide clubs with no relegation no promotion and those teams fight it out the richest of the rich go into the pot and create yeah and that's my suggestion as to why it will become bigger than stanford bridge and anfield much like the mba is a world league but it it isn't yeah they call it the globe yeah but it will be the champion they're going to try and brand it very similarly i guess and structure it the same way i mean you're a massive mbu fan lost so this is why i guess like i'm a little bit um i hate the idea but i'm also slightly like as bruce would say aroused by exploring the idea of it and just being like oh this is interesting because they are going to copy the nba format where it then goes into league league league league league and then you work out through playoffs who wins the league overall so you'd have no answer the beauty of sport correct me if i'm wrong if anybody disagrees but the beauty of sport is uncertainty jeopardy yeah do newcastle beat manchester united the jeopardy what what does it mean do you go down are you promoted as soon as you remove jeopardy and i understand why they're doing it because jeopardy and uncertainty is terrible for business good point but it's fantastic for sport but there is still the appearance of jeopardy so in the similar way to the nba or the nfl where you can't be relegated there is still jeopardy in those leagues but it's just not the same kind of jeopardy it's that you are incomparable to going to the championship what we're talking about is going from the premier league to the championship no no you already know this is is disaster for a business you make so much less money so what they're trying to do is cut that out and make it jet betty yeah exactly what i mean but it's like i'm a billionaire i'm going to be over by this i'm kind of thinking that's what this is all about it's the owners yeah and i think that's that's the truth absolutely we've invited venture capitalists into our bed we have allowed venture capitalists to sit at the table and then we're surprised or slightly put out when they behave like venture capitalists they're behaving like people who have no one answer to the fans were not consulted in any way shape or form yeah and what what i'm enjoying is a newcastle fan is everyone going i can't believe it there's such a disconnect with the fans here they don't even care what the fans feel like this is an outrage and i'm like welcome the club boys i've been here 15 bastard yeah unbelievable but you know the amazing thing as well the foundations within which they've built this plan can you think of anything more vernal than building plans to protect ourselves close the door on the foundation of a pandemic you use a pandemic it doesn't surprise you to protect yourself the timing of this was yeah the fact that they they're doing this now and announcing it now while fans aren't allowed back in yet they've really they've gone for it but does the products of football actually look towards in in the next 20 years is football any more exciting because of this obviously there's a few more real madrid versus man city big games i guess it changes fundamentally sorry if you had a kid right now and he grows up are you going to tell him to support the super league in the way that your parents told you to follow but it isn't a chance it isn't about that that's the that's the problem to the point they might not even be enough in the next generation how do you then treat it also the amount of fans that you're talking to yeah the amount of fans is one percent if if that if that's going the magical support of stanford bridge is vital in my eyes because i am part of that and i know them and i've formed friendships that will be everlasting from going to football football for me is a right of passage you sitting in a gala gate it's a right of passage but we're so insignificant we're so insignificant they don't care about you they don't care about me it's not about being the season to get older at chelsea i used to sit on the benches got myself a season ticket in a matter of life i'm annoying to the club they don't want me they want to go they want the world fans to turn up yeah it's not about the same 40 000 people every week yeah it's about a pool of billions so that's a fundamental change of the sport there isn't it that this is this is football becoming like the nfl like the nba like all these things where the exercise is no longer competing in the same way anymore it's about being like you are sort of saying where football's going in general more athletic pushing it to the extremes spend money on the athletes you're going to have all these centers suddenly popping up around each of the clubs and going we're going to try and get the most physically out of each of these guys we'll invest the cash in them you'll see massive contracts going out there and people trying to maintain their their you know their physical interest they're trying to keep themselves as healthy as possible these people will be pushed like olympians yeah but it's teams i think right now no one no one's even that you're thinking 10 10 20 years ahead even though right now what what we're discovering today is the thing that i've been feeling for the last decade or more fans do not matter the owners do not care about you you have no say you have no right and he will move your club to qatar he will move it to america he will do what the he wants what you once knew your club has from this day on has the wolves been like the the curtains have been lifted as newcastle fans we have been this way from day one and it's so ironic that rio ferdinand not long ago said just club together and buy that you know well man you know your fans real ferdinand's got some advice for you yeah just come together just club together it's cool buy the club no but this is the thing we are powerless and and as a newcastle fan i don't really care what's going on here because i have felt insignificant in the premier league for a long time oh the only dangerous will we go down will be not going down there's been no hope for me for so long so for the top six to leave well we weren't doesn't matter to me really like all right we might not play like destroys newcastle newcastle are already dead though no it fundamentally destroys you yeah probably but like fundamentally like anyone you know when people flippantly suggest like everton go oh yeah yeah sod off edson fans sort off we'll have our own league that isn't how it that isn't what it will be people watch the premier league because of so so yeah to take about the newcastle thing is this in a selfish way the premier league stopped newcastle from being bought by trillionaires in order to keep the big six happy yes the big six of just at the premier league you we're going and now newcastle it's so funny because we're sat there we can't newcastle can't be bought because of the premier league trying to keep the big six happy but we also can't progress because this big six have got a stranglehold on the system so it to me as if i'm like yeah whatever you are you are so correct the big six club the big six i'm way more fearful of an imposter than they are each other chelsea are far more preoccupied about leicester breaking in than they are manchester united existing there forever they want the club the club is fine an imposter a newbie is a real real threat you're not welcome here no no no no and and this is and this is the problem because we've seen this i mean look i called i called abramovic out recently and got so much stick for it because of things that have happened previously and we've seen chelsea be used in a way that i don't think is correct by abramovich this now is hopefully going to be the sh the line in the sand this is hopefully going to be it bravo try to you know leave stanford bridge totally unacceptable what i think is very sly about the way that it's been done and this is applicable to chelsea but it's actually also applicable applicable to jw henry i read the statement that went out on chelsea's website and i also had a look at liverpool one do you know what they've done nobody's attached themselves to if you look at the chelsea statement joel glaze do you know do you know who's yes but this is but i'm talking about liverpool but the state this is what i'm saying so the tweets are going out it's more like a news story that they're posting rather than we are doing this for this reason yeah not bruce buck not roman bravo it's nobody to do with chelsea who is who is front and center and a face of the club has had the minerals to put their name to it on the chelsea website there's a quote from joel glaser on the liverpool website and man city on the liverpool also relevant here but the liverpool website they've got the man united gazer talk what what are you doing by the way this guy this joe glazer hasn't given any interviews to anyone hasn't been to manchester two years can you give me the gist of what this guy said so basically he's the one who's sort of leading it and and he's the voice who's saying you know fund he joel glaser said what's the effect of we're fundamentally going to change the way that football works along with florentino perez who's also sort of the very top of this so they were saying and in many ways what they're implying is fifa isn't doing a very good job uefa aren't doing a very good job so we're going to do the job for them which is what you're predicting it's kind of what we said in this clip you predicted yeah we said like on this show that they would go we're sick of these guys they can't manage it and you know i always said that it's because actually you're away from fifa aren't doing a very good job i mean not and and the fact is norah the premier league and this is partly what i'm angry about is whilst we are just to chime in you've got qatar hosting the next world cup you've got the premier league denying newcastle to be bought out by a trillionaire to keep this up like it's corruption left right and center yeah and so like like we said on the kickoff it's which set of billionaires you choose to back because it's which you prefer which poison do you pick basically and the the problem with that is fundamentally john henry joel glaser all those other ferentino perez are actually correct no one within football is managing it very well because there was so much corruption for so long we then gutted those organizations of all those corrupt people and we're just left with more people who by the way have got their own corruption allegations the billionaires got bored of the incompetence they got bordovar yeah they got bordovar because var looked fixed they got bored of technology on the pitch they got bored of thinking that uefa was screwing them and they thought well we don't want to do this anymore they also got bored of sharing the money pot correct with the champions league and sky and premier league and all of that they they're literally like we are the money yeah people watch us you know and it's no no surprise that whenever man united play burnley only get their highest ratings of the season it's they're not no one no one's surprised by any of that this is incompetence and resting on your laurels from big organizations like the premier league like uefa who basically for a long time told themselves well what else are they going to do but what could they have done tell me that look it's very easy to attack the premier league i ultimately think it's a pyramid where you can be barnsley fc and you can have a great season like having their championship they can enter the premier league and get the riches yeah i think that's a more democratic system it's not perfect there are there is corruption absolutely barnsley could play in the champs league next season they could i'm not saying they will it's an example of a generic it's a meritocracy and that's the closest thing we've got to the the combination between something like the olympics which is a meritocracy but and also a brand a brand that can get accessibility to us watching the games with high quality coverage like sky sports it's that it's the best combination no of course but i think that that's it's very easy to attack the premier league right now but we've got to defend the institution i think is the the least worst solution that we've got so first of all i don't think we have to defend it i also think we have to be critical of those people we have to say to them like you've not done a good enough job here why haven't you done a good enough job same with our government by the way see boris johnson only now hearing about this yeah sorry i thought that we had a i thought we had a sports and he's got a few other things to deal with though mate football absolutely i get that but didn't stop them from having something to do with the newcastle take over apparently well yeah no he's had plenty he's had plenty of time to be able to do other things on the side of that as well as far as i know so i don't see why this guy's been so busy at the same time we have a sports and uh culture secretary who seems grossly incompetent seems to have let people down this came in the first place because a government loved the idea of the premier league because that was their ideology in the first place this is what the premier league came from i don't know i was surprised how he got here and the problem is the premier league sat back and i genuinely i sat in a press conference once with richard scudamore at the front and scudamore made the joke to the journalists and me in the room where else are people going to watch it and it showed the complacency that he can openly say to people in a room where else are you going to get this from and everyone no one went that's a bit out of order mate these are these are working-class people who are paying for sport here everyone went ha ha good one richard brilliant yeah no really good really good the way you no the way that you made fun of all the people who support the clubs in your league and stuff that's absolutely fantastic make no love it love it love it and we all sat back like sycophants because we were all making money at the time and i was there with the bbc no one questioned him no one questioned it but it was it was a comment that stuck with me and showed me what the premier league really thought of its fans and they think the premier league think no better of the fans than the owners think so let's not play like there's good guys and bad guys here bro there's bad guys and bad guys but less bad guys no no no no this is the this this is bad guys and bad guys the premier league don't have the don't own the idea of the league system in the in the uk no because they put them in place no the premier league just annexed themselves off at the top so the premier league is not the thing that we should be backing here the football league is the thing that we should be backing here the smaller teams is the thing that we should be backing here not the premier league but at the moment man united could get relegated i think that's a justified uh that has nothing to do with the premier league the premier league again annexed themselves at the top because they wanted to try and ensure that they would make more money and wanted to make sure that it was less competitive lower down the leagues the premier league everyone over 30 years ago so let's have that clear so this is just happening to them what they did to the rest of them partly this isn't more extreme version this is a way this is these guys thinking that they were safe and resting on their laurels and all of their roosters coming back at the same time to roost all of their all of the things that they thought wouldn't happen is happening now because they invited the sharks to the party they were the ones who invited them in they put roman abramovich john henry the glazers what did you think was going to happen you you us that these guys were meant to be custodians for a club mike ashley is meant to look after your club for you not make profit from it john henry is meant to make the cop better for us to go to they're meant to make the stadiums a better experience for us because they're lucky to own our memories they're lucky to own our crests they're lucky to own our colours and right now they don't care about that they showed fundamentally they don't care about the history of our club but it was never it was never really in doubt like i mean at the top of this video when we said the second that you get into bed with venture capitalists the point the whole the whole purpose of them is to make money and the way that they make money most efficiently is by playing the top teams as regularly as possible in as bigger arenas as possible in as many different locations as possible more people more eyeballs more money more more everything more interest more tv everything goes about that it's about volume but it doesn't represent everything that we thought our club stood for so yeah that would be naive this is a logo this is liverpool's logo on something that is not liverpool this is manchester united's logo on something that is no longer manchester united as we know it yeah why not i'm not saying i don't know this i'm just trying to get the answers out here i i mean uh most people what really changes to you guys fundamentally liverpool is meant to be part of a league system bill shankly built the club um up from what it was before that they won leagues they won i think they tried they competed for the fa cup they had won the league post-war they've won the league before that there was there were plenty of good memories for liverpool before bill shankly arrived but bill shankly i can only speak from my experience you can talk about manchester united you can talk about newcastle in the 60s bill shankly built that club up on the idea of uh you know unity sharing things that the society was a fair society and that he'd do that for the working-class people of liverpool that they were winning this for the city and that how can i put it the the the guys who put the shirt on were lucky to do it for liverpool so when liverpool won the fa cup for the first time more people turned out than it ever turned out in the whole city and the streets were flooded it was unbelievable those values of what what we think liverpool stand for only come out when they want to sell you a kit only come out when they want to sell you something yeah but it's geographical as well isn't it like the reason the reason i mean without being too kind of pedantic it's called liverpool it's called it's called liverpool because it represents liverpool and represents the city and at one point it was for people from liverpool to go represent their area represent their team and follow their team home in a way correct like that was the genesis of football that's what it was about that now is being taken away because you're making it impossible you can't support a team in the way that you have been able to over the years you can't support a team in this league you can't be a season ticket holder i've got friends who haven't missed a game for 15 years genuinely haven't missed one game for 15 years do you think we're being 90. do you think we're being naive that this i feel like they're just making official what i've been personally been feeling for a long time it's now a lot of the other owners are just being as ballsy as mike ashley has been this whole time but no one checked ashley so when it it this really comes back to like you have you heard that saying of when when they came for the dirty i said nothing because it wasn't me and this is the football version of that where newcastle fans have been saying we're screaming over here our owner doesn't give a about us please help or someone do something and no one helped us so now when this is happening as a newcastle fan i'm almost sitting back and laughing my time but it's the same like it's the same for me i thought i told i i let it be known i called a brand i told you abramovich was no good i told you he was no good i told you his motivations were no good now everyone goes oh yeah maybe maybe that's right as soon as as soon as it affects you you care but up until that point people go i know he's a great owner go why why is that he spends loads of money oh right that's the criteria that's that's what makes somebody good or bad that's what we judge people on well you know i get it the trophies and all of that but obviously they've shown their true colors and all all of the owners and you you booby for example like you've spoke so highly of the manchester city owners and you know you are you feeling like you've got egg on your face are you ready it's disgusting it's disgusting and what rory said about the statements is embarrassing ultimately i think man city have been running a very very good way the area of manchester that man city resides in has been improved immeasurably there's been women's setups that have been built out of nothing it's been unbelievable for the for man city fans and for the area of manchester if this happens which is one of the biggest news stories i think we can all say about football in our lifetimes one of the biggest for sure my football club that i love and cherish for 25 years of my life they've got a statement that is come as quoting the the chairman of manchester united on our stat on our website nothing from kalduna mubarak the um the executive chief executive of the club no video no kind of interview he does one every year like a review of the club there's been absolutely no transparency with with the fans and i'd say obviously that man united the liverpools of this world are probably bigger fish to talk about because they've won european cups what what is city doing involved in the european super leagues if if one of those big clubs didn't go along with liverpool and monday night and said no actually yeah it would but that's a problem that's i think that's what's happened the reason why chelsea so the way that i can i think i understand it the the motivators are perez angeli and henry and glazer so the americans and then the the the continental lads they're the motivators the core twelve motivators let's let's let's have it right now yeah i might i might come to it yeah the core motivators are the four and people like chelsea the reason why they kind of gone along with it as less of a core motivator manchester city the same i agree it's because they can't be left out of the club which is ridiculous they should be left out they should be passionately happy it's a gangster move this isn't it it's like we're going here yeah you need us more than we need you you either come with us where the money's going to be or you sit and fester with those who don't draw any money and the opportunistic timing of it it makes me really uncomfortable because you've got a thing when they were watching all of the the viewing figures do what they did with fans not being able to be at the games that's like we don't even need these but it's even more it's just fantastic even more it's even more deceitful than that because cronkite news because they so firstly they they've proved that they don't need it but now people can't protest if if people could be in stadiums it would be uproar it would be terrible because as someone who is from a farm base who for more than a decade we've had multiple attempts at protesting if there's one thing i've i've seen with my own two eyes is people who live for their football club who truly love their football club who can't not go to the games it's hard to to show that like a tough love do you know what i mean and i would love to think this could be a turning point where the people take back the power but if there's one thing i've seen in the last year on a social level is math psychology is very much a cell like people do look after number one i'm i'm in danger here i've got to do what i need to do for me and mine and i i can't see the resolve coming from a group of football fans when they'll be discussing don't get me wrong you know i i would love to think that the liverpool spirit and some of the other would stand tall but even lawrence at the start went low key though i think it would be like this i kind of had this conversation with my dad a while ago when we we got an email about qatar and i and we we felt conflicted because we were sort of going these guys are offering cash to do something but do we really want to do it because we feel conflicted by it we didn't take the money and we didn't we didn't take the money but should have been higher but but you saw but but at the same time you know my dad sort of said to me well someone's going to do this coverage and they're going to make money should it be you bro can i just answer that question when the super league starts the kickoff will be yeah because you know people have to make money and and ultimately if that happens i think the fans will find it very hard to not watch to not get excited a new signing is made i don't think it's the same fans more fans will watch but it won't be a lot of people won't be part of it but i'm not going to be divided i completely agree that's why i'm not necessarily sold on the idea there's going to be mass support for this but it will be more relevant but it'll be more passive support they don't want people who have season tickets every same people every week they want a different fan in that seat they wanted to become what i think that liverpool fan ranted about a few years ago where he went on that passionate run on redmond where he was like it's the prawn sandwich beginning it's a franchise you're gonna sit down with your hot dog and popcorn it's becoming more like that you know what do you know what chelsea get off me they get 900 quid a year they get not that's it not penny more i don't buy a program i don't buy a shirt i don't do anything if you swap me out for a for a tourist from tallahassee who comes in and goes way man he's in the club shop beforehand he's decked out like a prick with all the kids face paint on like a wanker in the ground that is what they want because he's dropped he drops 100 ticket family of five they've all dropped 100 quid in the club shop do that every week i'm the worst thing they can possibly have i get that you they still do need a core though because you go to anfield and they know they'll keep that and that's what i'm trying to say with the newcastle a lot is when we did the protest they did there weren't enough in the numbers they didn't last long enough because you know let's be i'm going to be completely honest there's some bloke so i sat at home thinking i didn't want to listen to her the day i want to go on the match it's a day out yeah sometimes it isn't about how much you love your club it's also just a social thing it's where you see your mate it's a get out some sometimes some of these lads aren't they can barely even see the picture one they don't even say people much prefer getting on a train and boozing at 6 a.m then they do go into the 90 minutes so what i'm trying to say is at first and as we're seeing right now there'll be a lot of backlash which is why they've done it in such a cowardly way but by the time day one i guarantee at least half will be tuning in and by a season goes by they're gonna what they'll be thinking is we're gonna make this so exciting and so good that you can't avoid it and i got here's my prediction by the way yeah you see netflix yeah there'll be a netflix of football and that's what they'll have their own app their own branding they'll take it completely in a different way than ever been taken before i think probably that's partly by the way because the premier league has missed that window because the champions league has missed that window also because their tv rights were way too lucrative for them to do their own or or something that'll happen with amazon or someone like that it'll be a mixture of the two sorry elliot's wanting to show so as we're having this conversation we're hearing or someone who could take part in it where they'll do a subscription-based service because brian as well it can't now not happen it's all gone too far for it now to not have they know it's happening when you when you think about when you think you don't want to use the power play though no this is game on sadly this is look think about it as well right you've got hen you've got venture capitalists after venture capitalists money money money influence all then backed by the little wallet of jp morgan three and a half million do you know what i mean and look i rate liverpool more highly than any group they're amazing at what they do right when they when they put their mind to something remember that walk out this stage was it 75 quid tickets spirit of shankly what they do is i'm real right when i used to be involved in that fsf thing it was always the scousers that were wicked but they can't compete you can't compete with jp morgan it's it's an impossible fight once you become you become the bad guy at some point though it's very difficult to to win those fans back they want numbers part of the global appeal of this is the the um nostalgia surrounding it and the romance of everything and sadly i think we've propagated the nostalgia and the romance the premier league a bit too much to the point where we were loving the smell of our own farts and that's why this whole thing happened but like if you don't have that and everyone can see on social media that big liverpool fans are going this isn't really for me suddenly it becomes not as appealing because you're not you're you're the bad guy all of a sudden i think the point is not that the people that you're referring to which is basically us i don't think we're the point i i agree but i guess it's not about us it's about like the the people that we're talking about season two holders will they go where'd they go they won't go and they probably won't be able to afford to go anywhere one of the way the i i think it's good to look at the way other sports look at this like the ufc in boxing you know if you're talking about the tiny little you know um events that match room put on or the events that um the ufc put on which are like you know lower name fighters it'd be lucky if 10 of the actual fight crowd buy every single one and really invest in every when you're talking about the conor mcgregors the tyson furies that's when you get the million plus pay-per-view this is conor mcgregor every week and that's what they're doing here what they're saying is we don't need all this man we can make our own multi-million pound system where we've got a heavyweight fight every single night between barcelona man united and all of these other massive and it's always going to happen it's been like this is i remember when i was a kid this was disgusting when berlusconi it was like a berlusconi dream and ultimately it's been longer yeah yeah it's been being dreamed up since then it's it's probably before then that's when i was aware of it i think a lot of people wanted they saw an f elvis or nba they saw where it was going and they wanted it to be that way i will say this we know very little about what the super league what the shape of it looks like right now what the financial structure is in a lot of their statements they are saying this is for the best for the football community that's why they are saying so i'm wondering whether this is becoming it it's not just about the super league it's also about this almost an anti-fifa idea as well where these guys are sick of the people at the top of fifa and uefa and all those things and so what they will do is they'll go well we've got man city and look at all the great community work that those guys have done we'll give liverpool this much money to be able to do that and they'll they'll have the women's league we'll give manchester united this money we'll do this the fans will get free this and that and you'll slowly win people over in an almost overton window style thing they've gone extreme this way so that somewhere between the two looks reasonable but we're not talking about the the main guys that are actually propagating this entertainment that we're talking about the footballers and if the footballers are kevin de bruyne for belgium harry kane for for england if they can't go to the euros this summer they can't play a world cup next next winter why would they want to participate all these players are going to have to come out and rebel okay so i i take i take that's a good point and i think the goals of every player ought to go to the eurozone but ultimately they're paid professionals who have a job and the biggest clubs in the world are the only ones who can offer the wages to a hurricane all the legendary players like that so it's either you take 350 grand a week at real madrid or you play in the premier league for everton for 100 grand a week and then you can play for england ultimately we've seen enough we've seen this happen enough times to know what the choice is usually also they'll start their own international tournament absolutely they'll start their own version of the ones dude it'll be like we'll have harlem globetrotters type games just like everyone else they need the money yeah they get the money from having the best players on show yeah they've come out and tried to be strong haven't they they've come out and said look you you know you hurt one of us we'll kill one of yours that's basically what they've said but ultimately they can't win the power doesn't lie with them absolutely do you know the other the things that it does it's like having sorry the the world cup it's like trying to have a royal rumble wrestling roy rumble without any good wrestlers yeah no one's going to care you're not the top six yes no one's going to watch i think ryback and that's what i'm struggling to understand is why we're backing fifa i don't know if we're backing fee from this but why people are sort of swallowing the rhetoric of fifa which is this is for football this is for people we do you had a you had a you quoted gary neville in a tweet yeah because gary neville made a very passionate uh piece on sky where you know he said this is anti football sort of thing yeah what do you think of him speaking of because i agree with his sentiment i just find it ironic that he said it on sky because skye is part of the sky sky is the slippery slope towards the european super league and gary neville's right in the middle of it so i i said actually at the end of the tweet i agree with a lot of what he says i think the punishment thing that everyone's talking about here is a little bit strange because i don't get why any of these clubs would give a about being punished punishment so he said they should be docked points we should punish them and i was like they're not gonna be in the league to care mate they don't really i think it means now yeah that's the point yeah no but if you look at the statement they're still saying the premier league would exist on the weekend or the league or bundesliga and then the super league would replace midweek competition but can anyone around the table think the cards that the premier league hold and what's that they they hold they hold nostalgia they hold a pair of tens maybe specifically no no they're not they're not they don't have a strong hand here because without liverpool manchester united man city chelsea all those other things you're basically watching college basketball so the point that you made earlier is is is a good one in that the premier league literally was this to the championship yes and all that is happening now is they're going yeah but we're just going to do one more than that so what happened to the championship when it became this water down no one gives a about it unless you're in it league is exactly what would happen at the premier league we would just see six promoted it would be a worse version you'd have clubs like i don't know leicester everton higher up villa newcastle maybe and then what so can you imagine their products of of that like because any all of the best players the good all the best players in the premier league will try and go weren't they yeah but but really it's a very similar setup to what we've got now which is that everyone wants to play in the champions league it just becomes more divided and a more clear line of okay if you're lucky you'll make it into that it makes the premier league pointless yeah but today is the premier league the premier league newcastle the premier league i actually don't give a about this i because i've never felt competitive with any of those clubs anyway i've never felt like we had a chance anyway it doesn't affect you know in newcastle in a way you're saying it what it does is it reduces the the chances of in the future one day me when i'm 50 years old seeing us win a premier league title guess what i'm pretty sure i am happening anyway so it doesn't affect you that's down to your owners with due respect ultimately you could win the premier league next season still if we kept the current format it's a liberal it's a liberal structure of the league it's all theory it can't even be in the super but what i'm saying though is is it's a it's a liberal system like all they're doing is making official what is happening anyway which is that the biggest clubs have the most money they've got a stranglehold on all of the best players it massively reduces the chances of a newcastle ever getting up there anyway they literally caught blocked us from getting bought out anyway to ensure we couldn't do anything so to me we i i know that the the percentage chance of newcastle winning the premier league was a slim one it's now being reduced from one percent to zero percent for me i'm kind of like hey if you're gonna put on a good show i'll watch it because i don't even and i know that some people say oh this is going to affect this out near that it's like well football's been corrupt for years now anyway i'm glad they're actually just being cut to my face now but do you not think now though whatever happens it's over isn't it like even even say everybody wouldn't to now just say oh we misjudged it like brown vic puts out a statement i said we totally misjudged the reaction yeah i'm incredibly sorry and i would love it if he did by the way but he i'm incredibly sorry sorry about that we'll be on my way in there we've got this wrong we got this wrong we misjudged the sentiment what a global service it's over isn't it what i love about billionaires is they're very keen to admit if i know them their egos are there and they're like yeah but is the plotting is the plotting now even if it doesn't come off and i believe it will come off but even if it doesn't come off is the plotting now not enough to ruin everything anyway so partly i do think that they some of these people are going to win a portion of the crowd over when they release their full plan and i think some of the crowd will go i think some the general some of the journalists will definitely want to cover this because you know the money's the money i don't want to come across i don't care about the communities affected because you know forgive me if i'm speaking out return because there's a lot of things i don't know about the impact of what this will do to liverpool for example but i don't want to come across insensitive but as a newcastle and i just feel like it's worth it yeah i think you're not part of the club at least i've been observing football we have not been competing in the relevant for 15 years because and ironically the fit and proper owners test that the premier league put out which makes it incredibly easy it seems for the for the big six to have whoever they their one but the rest of us we can't get into that club uh you know if they'd actually had a proper fit and proper owners test and they really did care then the people who are now turning on the premier league wouldn't be in the position that they're in to do so but this is because the the it's also a different understanding of what sport is and i read a really good guardian article last night by jonathan liu and i think it's kind of talking to the difference that you're talking about so it's about you can only want this if you hate the sport yeah so the article was basic that was the title yeah the only people who really want this don't understand football and hate it okay the quote that really got me in the middle which i think is what you're arguing what you're arguing is at the heart of this move then is a distaste for the basic point of sport itself a battle of nations and cultures towns and regions ideas and systems an ecosystem with a top middle and bottom something something you go out and play as well as sit down and pay for and what he means by that is what we lose here is the regionality of it what we lose here is liverpool playing everton is liverpool playing newcastle is neighbors it's just still getting you still get liverpool manchester united in liverpool man city liverpool arsenal liverpool spurs yeah and that's that's a shame that we're losing the regionality in in favor of money but like let's be honest it's been that way like unofficially for the last 20 odd years anyway the the richest clubs are the most successful if you look at everyone who's won the premier league in the last 20 years it's been dominated by the aside from the odd anomaly like leicester or you know yeah it it's generally i think brian no because we're just making it official because if you're because of your but you've you've been you've been scarred you've been hurt but it feels like you've been and and i kind of understand what you're saying but i think that you're misjudging quite how you know when i said you're going to become irrelevant and you said maybe we've been irrelevant for the last 15 years anyway you haven't you you've been playing in the biggest league in the world you've you know you have been a vital quite honestly rory i'm bored of it man but you're about to become so relevant you don't understand i have been watching dog football for 15 year from an honor doesn't give a doesn't invest in the club we we are existing until we we get relegated that's all we've been so for us to continue being that in a league that is not competitive that's that's the illusion here it is not competitive it is competitive at the top amongst six heavyweight clubs unless one of them like arsenal are having a a couple of bad years or whatever for the rest of us the me immortals it's like we're never gonna be there anyway and i know what you're saying i hear that the possibility of that one percent that newcastle will have a moment you still really is does not nothing for me that is that is not the point of why i originally started watching football and loving football the dream that one day my club may win an fa cup may win the premier league died years ago for me and this reality that it will not happen now has been one for me for 10 years so so now it's official i'm like yeah well fine at least at least these have had the balls to say yeah you know it is you ain't got a chance because it's been this way for it for me like and that's the point is the people like joel glaser uh john henry i get it you know it's lovely marketing but john henry all these people they're outsiders they don't understand english culture and european football culture in the way that other people do they understand american culture which is exactly why the super league is structured the way that it is which is exactly why kroenke is the second in command to uh perez because the second he bought a club the second he bought the team in america he moved them from one city to another so that shows you everything you need to know about him and to add to what brian just said with that they're basically from as outsiders going why don't we just formalize this guys we'll uh we'll just put we will just put what all the english should go english people always do this we always go well you know just skirt around the issue the americans just come in and go well that's not fair is it and then they just formalized it there's no guys we should just put this down on paper because these guys are anyway so let's just make a league where everyone's and then and you know what they've done though they've done it off the back of a pandemic where so many people have died and they have got to experience that opportunity of oh this is what we can do here there's no one here anywhere no it's the most venal thing in the world isn't it to create to go for to create a culture of self-interest off the back of something that was all about us we're all in it again community are we yeah obviously but that's what we've been marketed here that's what being marketed here is that somehow this is improving football is that somehow this is moving football forward do you know maybe we should talk about that a lot is there a truth yes it's like no no no that's what i'm saying there is there is a there is an upside to this there will be people who the clubs will invest in the community because i think they'll be told to because they need the good pr that these are i'm literally just thinking of of of man city versus real madrid on a regular basis watching amazing football going yeah watch yeah of course i'll watch it is that what you want week in week out though or do you actually do you need a bit of the liverpool versus burnley at what point is genuinely i could i couldn't give a like and i don't i don't want to come across as the bad guy here and i know i'll probably get slated being honest i just rather you know i we don't compete anyway so you know i watch football all the time and and watching teams that aren't very good against good sides where the team that aren't very good sit back and do everything they can to defend or whatever and the good side has to attack attack attack and eventually try to break them down yeah it's all right but you know i can do it without it but if you if you've got real madrid man city for me and then you've got you know manchester united burnley i know which one i'm picking and what they're doing now as someone who is irrelevant because i am irrelevant i've got a horse in this race essentially um although we will be affected and i take that and it could be terrible for newcastle but we're already anyway as far as i'm concerned is what they what they're capitalizing on is exactly what rory said earlier is that will put bombs on seats that will make people watch from all over the world and they will get advertising money out the coming at them and all of the advertising trickled down that would have fallen in newcastle and mike actually and would have fallen to you know other other teams in spain or not we'll just go to the fat cats but at the end of the day that's because they bring it in and what they're doing is going yeah we're the ones bringing in the eyeballs so how about we just cut this one you watch football right and obviously i've i've watched loads of games with you what you when you when we're watching it part of everything it's the heartbeat within the game isn't it it there's a pulse there's a real pulse it's it's alive and it means something to so many you know if it genuinely was real madrid versus juventus in atlanta being played in front of a completely bipartisan crowd nobody in that stadium really cares you know i'm sure they've all got the shirts and whatever but it's like when i go to i've i've i've been to the basketball that's the point but that's the point rory is they got but that's how i felt about newcastle for 15 years and i just want to say that nobody enjoys the fans roaring that what newcastle means to to us as fans i i remember the first game i ever went to i remember the emotional connection i had with all the players and all of that but in with with kovid football with not having the fans there what they were able to find out having a almost an experiment was it doesn't matter if fans are there or not whatever you lot think you're not here we found that we're going to make a ton of money it's great the super league is nothing to do with how good you are it is a money thing all the stadiums no it's all the clubs in it they've got new stadiums it's about the biggest the richest clubs bandit together protect our interests the fans we want to make money off of this it's also meant to be the best change isn't it no no no no on the day that it was on the day that it was announced arsenal drew one all fuller but no no but rory so so i i this is this is partly what it's got nothing to do with good football yeah that's what i was going to say i did want to i get the memes and it's all very satisfying to go well you know uh spurs are and seventh and the reason arsenal probably aren't very good is because cronkite's been working on this for a while and going we don't need to invest money right now why should i invest money at my own pocket when i know in two seasons i can get money out of someone else's pocket and invest it why do you think arsenal are plummeting down the league because he's gone just hold tight hold tight how do you know when these clubs are in how do you know i think man sitting in a special position i know ibravic is very rich how do you know arsenal in five years in the super league will be able to compete you don't know that well but what's the owner's lead so the way i say it guys uh is what then happens with the super leaguers all the big money goes there so arsenal can then without a doubt afford to pay a lot more money per per player that's fine than what they can right now right so where are they going to take the best players from they're going to go to the premier league which is now evident and they're going to poach all the best players the best players are going to play in the super league and it's going to make arsenal better for it and ironically the only people who are talking about it that we've seen so far on social media before this video has gone out people like um ander herrera who played for paris i want to be there anyway exactly he doesn't got a horse in the race but this is why it's so important online media like this i'm doing a show like this or whatever show talks about it that's why it's so important it's not it's not good enough to just sit there at pathetic and say well we've had bad bad owners this and that ultimately this has got to be an angle to say how can we improve things if we don't like it but the point is i don't like how newcastle will run as a man city fan it's awful to see that and man city would run early into liquidation before we got taken over but it's our responsibility however nominal we are in the football landscape in terms of a voice is to sit here on a video and not just say be reactionary say all the premier league anyway but there's got to be some activities i appreciate some rebellions on around this table i i appreciate your sentiment if if we were going to radicalize and we were going to go football fans everywhere as a move with lawrence mckenna at the front center um yeah i'd love that tattoo yeah but if we were going to do that i would i would only say sense in it if we went we're going to change the premier league we're going to make it fair we're going to actually do things right this time we're not doing that so as a newcastle fan i don't see where the benefit is why i should give a i don't we're either way well so i do think this is interesting so we're focusing on the super league but i actually think the the strange thing is people are saying that the premier league will be there is a college system in america which thrives and is this like um it's seen as the real sport like you know local communities go to it if the premier league was to go cool these six they can leave we will market ourselves as real football we are the real fans have you seen how the premier league do things but they're not smart and i get that they're they are it is sterile and i do think that you know the championship is actually probably a better product than the premier league it's the best products in europe and pound-for-pound in my opinion half a pound i agree but there is an angle here where we go okay well the premier league could benefit from this where real football fans go okay well i'm not going to support liverpool anymore i'm going to support my other local team or i'm going to go and do this so i'm going to actually just leave that club behind it's a very good point they don't really appoint me anymore it gives six spaces or five or six bases to genuine championship the likes of brentford bristol city you know watford are going to probably get promoted bournemouth the problem with all of that though is people want to be entertained and the and the bottom line is when the best fighters fight when the best football teams play we know that the level is going to be fantastic and we are going to want to watch that it's like it's the same reason why many music stars have done really shitty things but people still buy their albums because they're like this is fire you know and it's going to be the same thing people will get over it because they're like i gotta say this i love it i love the chat that the lawrence's had there and i don't know if it's just me being really cynical but that's not how this is going to go that's not i wish you were right i wish that somehow this they go the premier league it's lifeblood it's it's tonic into the premier league and the the english division suddenly becomes this like effervescent beautiful product but it's gonna be crap it's gonna because everyone else is gone no one's watching it all the best players are playing in that league are pretty gutted because they want to be there and and what you're going to be left with is something that is it's second rate for the championship two and it's it's another champion every club just wants to get promoted to the championship they don't enjoy the league itself and attendances will go like that because the products won't be useful i don't necessarily agree about attendances i think there'll always be a ticket sold in everything within that league but i think you mean money outside it will be a skin leak because the tv right money nobody's wants to watch it so nobody so the tv companies aren't buying it so you left newcastle newcastle playing bournemouth on a saturday afternoon it's on channel 5. but maybe that's where it should have been and maybe where the premier league were inflating people where stoke could sign barcelona ex champions league winners maybe that wasn't real and maybe what you just said is where the actual maybe it was a bubble and it was inflationary and maybe where bournemouth played newcastle on the premier league and maybe there is only 60 000 fans in the stadium maybe there's a hundred thousand people watching at home maybe that is the genuine interest but can i just say that is the kind of natural law of order where i think where things should be everything's a bubble that's what entertainment is like marvel's not real but manuelite are are a big corporate entity but that's because the interest in bournemouth spending you know 40 50 million quid on players sometimes some bournemouth for example stoke maybe bringing that back down to reality a little bit and there's a premier league where it's a bit more normal yeah twelve thousand fans in the britannia yeah well yeah that's but about everything that goes along with that money united are looking at that going why the are bournemouth getting knuckling the money off the back of us being in this league that's exactly the problem that's justified that's exactly the problem when it goes wrong portsmouth get relegated when it goes wrong sunderland liquidates exactly where it's all come from chelsea manchester united whoever else are looking at this going hang on a minute you're all you're riding you're hanging onto our coattails we don't want you we don't want to carry you we're going to carry each other and feed into an ecosystem where we all benefit one another look after one another nobody goes down we all make loads of money and to hell with the lottery and the fans don't matter history doesn't matter tradition doesn't matter there's always more fans we don't give a about tradition man we want to win the super league now that that geezer who sits in block block h road 90 who hasn't missed a game since like 1954. i don't care i do love the fact that harry kane has been working on catching shiro's record obviously doesn't matter i don't even know the answer to this right chelsea chelsea are playing chelsea playing uh uh tomorrow night tuesday night right or whatever depending on when this video goes out chelsea playing on tuesday night does that game matter not at all but genuinely all you've got now potentially if things because we don't know what is going to continue do we boys we we that we don't know if the premier league will give in and say look we can be in both leagues we don't know if the because ultimately they've got the premier league by the ball so you think they'll they'll give in and i think everyone will give in eventually the only the only thing i don't know is does that make the champions league just completely gone so well so it's um psg have won it there's one step in between yeah we'll do the psg thing first realistically do they even want to carry on in the premier league that's the point well they they kind of i think the premier league would go well we do need to fulfill this contract let's make some money here now the statement said it would be a joint that is the statement too official quote is premier league on the weekend and then the super league man city versus the barcelona every wednesday okay so the premier league have come back have they and said you'll be banned or something that's that's what we believe the play will probably be but i don't think the premier league the premier league can come out with that harsh front but the reality the owners are going to go okay yeah yeah go on then and the premier league sorry what was that oh well we didn't mean i'm not now we're very yeah absolutely all right so we're playing this weekend yeah yeah cool but the problem is they are now bad guys and they are and people at jurgen klopp have spoken out against things like the super league i mean maybe jurgen klopp and other managers have spoken out will go well i was talking about out about just pure super league you know we're still playing the premier league i don't like the rugby league yeah i mean that is but that that is a bit of a problem now like the reality here is how this plays out in the next few weeks it could just be a play to get more power in the premier league it could be that they're going well we the premier league might genuinely have to go we will offer you spots to run the league you will run the league in the same way as uh you know anyone else has got equity you'll get more equity in the league because i do think the owners and the clubs were a bit sick of watching the premier league make money and you know in boosting their own shares but not feeling the benefit themselves so chelsea real madrid next week currently is that fixture even played i don't know we don't have a clue like is it even i think what this depends on is the fifa and the premier league handle this if they really wanted to do a power play what they would do is get together and and basically show a united front as a group of organizations so here's the other thing as well which i think is fascinating for years and years and years the government were very happy to let this be a private thing that's private entity we we can't interfere with that suddenly boris johnson's coming out and he's going i'll fix this and i was like like you fixed the other stuff on the water on the water but that's the point is the saudi prince this is one of the things genuinely it this they could be the last stoppers they wait if legally you can't do this in england or liverpool leaders their responsibilities are members of this population right i feel like i'm in lawrence mckenna's one personal nightmare he's relying on boris i'm relying on embarrassment to say of liverpool to say yeah yeah i can't think of two worst things for you first of all bryce johnson boris johnson went i'm gonna need a map to work out where this place is secondly get my coffee uh it stops sucking i think the interesting part with this is like genuinely we are gonna rely on a government and maybe even european government here to go no you're not doing that and to come in between some people are saying that it's written into uefa that that can't happen you can't go to and you can't go to independence they're private i mean i don't really see how anybody boris johnson or anybody could be really graphically it is it's based in the uk the private enterpriser and that's the problem is for so long the government went great for the economy private enterprise off your pop and now they're going well not that much private enterprise we like private enterprise but don't be easy government government interference but government interference is something that we all need you know backing it because it suits us now you don't want the government to be able to that's effectively a totalitarian statement i agree with you an idea but ultimately this this government needs to intervene because the amount of football that will change hands in terms of tourism uh intercity trade will change so dramatically this is a massive thing for this country it's the biggest sport in this country it's the biggest sport in the world you can't the government cannot just sit back and say what's private enterprise ultimately this could affect local uh communities such as newcastle such as the the birmingham yeah yeah that's where i agree with you the most in regards to how it affects regular people who whose businesses will be affected because of the lack of a manchester united arriving in town and stuff like that but i also as much as i i'm against that i also respect the right of a business owner to act like it's a business and do what's best for business the fact that the matter that i've had to accept so long ago is fans don't matter and this what this comes back to is it's just everyone else having the same storm that we've had for 10 to 15 years you don't matter i own this company this isn't a football club it's a company and i'll do what the i like but they aren't welcome to reality but they do own a football club and they do own like an institution and that's that's just a fancy word to make her feel better than what it that's what football used to be football hasn't been that ironically since the sky money started coming yeah yeah so now they're all complaining yeah football fans without fans is nothing it's a beautiful sentence sentiment one that i wholeheartedly agree with that is sadly now not relevant to the game that now exists because what if look it's entertainment lads at least yeah we love sports and it does happen no but what booby said about you know competing and all of that i i feel the same way but the reality is it is just entertainment and people will pay the money for the subscription to watch two great sides playing against each other for the super league title people will pay that and people watch it also if you think that any government is really going to go and the people behind this scheme jp morgan they must know that they can get this over the line they must know because they wouldn't the damage the damage that has been done to jay to to henry at liverpool to the brahmavic at chelsea to even shake mansour the damage that has been done is probably irreparable therefore they need it to happen because you can't really backtrack now all of the relationships are soured you know and that's why they've done it on a united front they've all done it together exactly because if they've done it one at a time it would have felt like oh this person they've collectively went we'll take it on the chin together but even even agnelli angeli and seferin they give them so suffering at uefa and juventus who is and angeli juventus is the is the driving force here they i think suffering is angeli's is the godfather to his child can you imagine that relationship now i imagine he's getting him he's going to be getting him a uv ship next season isn't it the fact that angeli was prepared to break that relationship where they were obviously best mates at one point he was prepared to sacrifice that it must mean it's going to happen the fact that jp morgan are behind this the fact that joel glaser has put a statement out the fact that liverpool put that statement on their website the fact that man city have put that statement on their website this is happening honestly when when was like rung me up late last night i was he was like everyone's tweeting it it's mental i was like when you see that tweet and you're like wow you guys really are doing this yeah it's happening it's also interesting because whilst we're terming them as the bad guys john henry historically in the states is seen as a bit of a bad guy by the way he's not seen as a particularly good guy although you know uh i've heard mixed reports about him i'll put it that way um it's interesting because at the end of moneyball there's a line that's attributed to him which other people say he has said to them as well is when you're the first one through the wall of course you're going to get a little bit bloody and i think all these guys are saying that to each other it's like we're breaking new ground here we are changing fundamentally what a sport is but we know they are basically saying to us don't worry we know what's best yeah we've got this and also they they they worth it but for them it's totally worth it yeah they're gonna make a fortune they're like all right people will criticize you first in 10 years it'll be like the premier league never existed and all the kids growing up in that era will only know oh the super league do you think they'll be surprised by the do you think this reaction has surprised anyone because this this feels quite very very dude do you remember what happened with liverpool um furloughing all their staff during that time the only reason i mean not the only reason but one of the reasons they took that was public reaction and i get that they probably took that for other reasons yeah reaction would have been yeah because the fans were so disgusted with what the club had done that's why it's important to talk about it in this way and not look at it in an apathetic kind of reductionist way that oh that is happening let's observe it i think there's a key narrative here as people that you know talk about fan media we all represent our clubs to some degree we also have to be realistic and say how can we improve things for the working people of the community i get that but we also have to be important i i love you my family but it's it it's an idealistic i know it's ideal it's because he's young and beautiful and scorned by the world no but but here's what i'm saying i i look at some examples rangers as an example they got they started again uh fan owned clubs in germany still exist by munich the biggest club in the world to basically rejected this proposal i even look at hashtag united in our little world independent well-run it's a new club salford city is another one there's still room there for different versions of football there is a second way that i think we could definitely talk about as well it's not just it's not just all pinning our hopes on man united man city there's an argument long term where kids kids watch hashtag they've got another history but i'm just saying any of these the minute any of these like get good at football they get barcelona from 350 grand a week yeah we're like i will actually i'm just arguing is there a second way where where the super league exists but football can still thrive for the local communities in this country which is not which i care about financially it won't though because the trickle down comes from the advertisers who want to have real madrid but having said that this is so this is what march madness is this is what the college system is in america there's a reason that everyone's getting so pissed off at the ncaa right now is because the ncaa makes a ton of money all the time why because they're marketed as local people marketed all of the other players know the local community they're walking around the local community every day there is a marketing angle here it's partly whether we trust the premier league and the other people running football in britain to be humble enough to go okay the super league exists that's there we can't make that kind of money but let's try and make the best of what we have here exactly and let's try and make something which we still think has some integrity i'm sure they probably will i'm sure they probably will but people won't care as much but that's the same way you're right i mean i mean this with respect because it's huge and people are doing what they can liverpool have already done this chelsea have just decided that the the two big people who run like the campaigns at chelsea the flags the banners and whatever they're called we are the shed and there's there's a guy who who runs a fans in called only a pound they have requested that all of the banners come down so all of the banners you take our banners out of your stadium when you behave like this symbolic big i respect it but at the end of the day what does abramovich care about that realistically we've done walk outs man we've had 30 odd thousand walk out in the middle of a game do you know what it did i'm like ashley all yeah i know i know and the thing is i rate that so highly liverpool did it and it had it had a direct liverpool did it had a direct impact on the scoreline they were tuning up when they went game finish to all newcastle have done it the boys like my mates are doing this i know the people in both of these campaigns that are doing it i'll rate it but it doesn't work but maybe there's a narrative where this can help organic football at lower levels where where clubs like barry fc don't go out of business sunderland are an example of a club no but johnny yeah we're clubs maybe now in the next 10 years the premier league can support lower league clubs and there's more of an organic kind of compressed league where there's less man united and bournemouth and it's more like you know everton the people who run the premier league have never had a true ever but they must say they might have they're gonna they're gonna go huh [Applause] that pie that you were eating over there was a lot bigger we don't have any i think the premier league was one of the one of the best in in the world given sharing the revenue relatively around if you look at la liga the bottom side of la liga gets nothing compared to the bottom side in the premier league but guess what you have to defend them the pie that they had been sharing is about to get significantly smaller yeah and that is good and that's going to be the problem um look i think we've gone as far as we can can i finish i'll finish this my closing stem is this i'm not thrilled about it but i'm morbidly fascinated by what's happening right now and i can't wait to hear more about what these guys think is going to happen more like what are these billionaires going to say next my sort of um because i'm so uh i have been so disconnected yeah from newcastle it's almost like um i feel like the joke are almost like and here we go quite nicely you're not yeah i'm just nihilistic it's an existential crisis yeah that's exactly let's set this building on fire and watch it go down i don't give a anymore i can't quite do it but there is something brilliant about having that attitude too just set it on fire and watch it burn and breathe like machiavelli breaking bad yeah it's like you're in the breaking bad he's just how far can you go yeah a my football bag because i'm going straight from here to go play football i packed a liverpool shirt today i didn't even burn it didn't even give it a second thought i'm not going to burn is worth a lot of money i didn't even give it a second thought and now i'm sort of like i don't know can you wear it i mean you could be photographed you're very famous you don't want to be photographed in that today very famous but me mate how many retweets on that tweet that's not fame that's uh infamous uh we'll we'll we'll be back for the next game that takes place i guess on the yeah we might see you on the weekend yeah uh we'll we'll be live on twitch if there's any football uh join us then what if twitch stops you know i mean you don't know oh
