[music playing] NARRATOR: Why did the chicken cross the road? [rooster clucking] To get to the kitten of course. [kitten purring] So we're here with chicken and the kitten. I had originally just a sick chicken, and, last week, my kids decided we needed to adopt a kitten too. Come on in. Karianne, she has this kitten that is sneezing, but she also has a sick rooster. KARIANNE ANDERSON: She has been sneezing. DR POL: Yes. KARIANNE ANDERSON: Her eye's all goopy. DR POL: Yeah. And she's had fleas. DR POL: And she is a stray. She was. Well, she's a barn cat, so. DR POL: You're a pound and four ounces. [chuckling] What is stinkier. What's her name stray? KARIANNE ANDERSON: She doesn't have one yet. DR POL: She just has the rhino, so I'm going to vaccinate her, give her a shot of long lasting antibiotics, worm her. And I think she has ear mites too, the way it looks. KARIANNE ANDERSON: OK. DR POL: Growing pains, growing sickness, the rhinotracheitis virus, what I like to do with those, if they are normal temperature, I vaccinate them and put them on antibiotics. That usually gets the kittens over these diseases. No, you-- My gosh. See, I won. [chuckling] You the barn cat, all right. OK, so this one is done. OK. You want my dirty rooster now? [rooster clucking] My chicken's name is Little Roo. He's a Bantam, and he's just been acting real dumpy lately. DR POL: OK. Chicken diarrhea. I called some other vets around, and nobody wants to tackle a chicken. I've kept him in the house to keep him dry and away from everybody, because I didn't know what was going on. He's usually real sleek and pretty, and he's timid but-- DR POL: OK, hang on for a second there, little rooster. [kitten meowing] Right from the back end. Yes, I know you there. Just-- you had your attention, you didn't like it. We've been dealing with this for about two weeks now. We've tried some over-the-counter stuff. So we're kind of desperate, at this point. Look at this 106.4. The roosters looks like he has pneumonia. He has 106 temperature. Normally, it's up to 103, 104. Antibiotics for him, and hopefully he makes it. Oh yeah, bite me. OK. Pneumonia, just like anybody else. Where you going turp? [kitten meowing] - Let her yell. - OK. All right. DR POL: Meet you up front. Thank you. We love Dr. Pol. I came here for a long time, since I was a little kid, with my mom and dad. I'm feeling good. I think Dr. Pol has fixed my two pets up, and I think we're going to be to a full recovery hopefully in a few days.
