Hello everyone, long time no see, this is
Abi aka onlyabidoang and today we’re gonna be taking a look at the big free update for The
Sims 4 that was released on May 28th 2024. After almost half a year of no major update, we finally
got a somewhat huge update with new features and we’re gonna be taking a look at them once more. By
the way, I wanna apologize for not uploading again for so long because my medical internship year
has just started and I’m still adapting to it, but now I have some time to work on new videos. So
without further a do, let-. Wait, what?? What the, we have login rewards now??
Yeah, apparently, this update, in a pretty unexpected turn, introduced login
events as their big new feature this time, which are this battle pass-like reward system
where you can progress through it by logging in each day to claim a reward you can use
in-game. Two weeks before the update got out, the game provided us with this teaser right on
the main menu that has everyone speculating, and turns out this new feature is the thing. And
it appears that it’ll be a new permanent feature that cycles once every few months from now on.
The first login event is called Happy at home which has been starting since late May this year
and will last for 40 days. So it’s kinda like the daily login rewards thing like in live-service
or mobile games in a way, but instead of daily, you only need to login one to three days in a
week. After logging in, you just need to claim it through this menu right here in order to unlock
the objects in the game. There are 8 rewards for this first login event, three for the first week,
two for the second and third week, and one for the fourth week. If you start the event late, you
don’t need to wait for another week to unlock the next week’s items. They can be claimed if that
week’s countdown has passed so you can still unlock all items late as long as you started at
least 8 days before the event ends. By the way, keep in mind that for some reason, all the claims
that you’ve made in the event are stored within your device instead of your account, specifically
in this “UserSettings.ini” file that’s located in the same location as your mods folder if you play
on PC. So if you, for example, install The Sims 4 in another device, lose this specific file,
or perform a factory reset of your computer, the whole event will be completely reset. Because
of that, be sure to backup this specific file if you want to install Sims 4 in a different device
later. When this update was first introduced, players had even found a way to get these
items even before unlocking them. In buy mode, if you set the reward items filter and chose any
color filter, they would appear in the catalog. Additionally, the new personality trait from this
event could also be accessed before unlocking it by randomizing sim’s traits in create a sim, aging
up a sim, and using the retraiting potion. But in the end, the team found out about this and then an
emergency patch was released on June sixth where all of these exploits have immediately been
fixed. Wow, seems that they act pretty fast when it comes to these kinds of bugs. Worry not
though, because when the exploit was still up, I managed to grab these locked build-buy items
and uploaded them in the Gallery here so you can obtain these items through here if you’ve
missed the event. Once you’ve placed them, you can use the eyedropper tool to copy them or
the design tool to change their swatches even if they won’t appear in the catalog. Now,
let’s take a look at these reward items! First let’s take a look at the CAS objects. We
have this moon and stars necklace from the second reward of the first week, this long straight
hairstyle from the second reward of the second week which is available for both masculine and
feminine sims, and this athletic leisure wear, aka athleisure from the reward of the fourth
week which is also available for kids. I also uploaded a household with sims wearing all
the reward CAS items and personality trait to the gallery for those who haven’t obtained
it, but it may be a bit harder to modify since the outfit will not be unlocked in the catalog
and you can’t copy their outfit to other sims. Now we get to the build/buy objects. The very
first login reward on the first week is this dartboard called “Bullseye Dartboard”. This
was once an activity exclusive to Get Together expansion pack, but not anymore apparently.
For the third reward of first week, we got this new mini fridge called “Guerdon
Goods Mini Fridge”. It’s basically a recolor to the mini fridge from discover university
pack. Mini fridges are practically shorter version of fridges. The difference is
that instead of a glass of water or juice, you can grab a can of water or juice from this.
Wow, today I learned that canned water exists. Still in the same reward, there’s also “Guerdon
Goods Nanocan 2.0.” This trashcan have the same features as the original nanocan trashcan where
it will give you 10 simoleons times the number of sims in your household everytime
you put a trash in it. It’s a perfect replacement if you think that the original
nanocan trashcan looks too futuristic and can’t blend in with the rest of your home
For the first reward of the second week, we got this compact bar. This is first bar
table that only occupies one tile in length because all bar tables are usually at least
two to three tiles long. But essentially, it still functions like a regular bar table
For the first reward of the third week, we got this “Casual comfort pillow”. This is
basically a décor object so they don’t serve any gameplay functions. For some inspiration
though, you can also use the moveobjects cheat to place them in specific places as additional
clutter.", like placing them on a couch, a bed, or idk, a toilet maybe? I’m not a builder.
And finally, for the final reward of the fourth week, we got this Guerden Goods Vending
machine. Once an object exclusive to snowy escape and high school years expansion pack, the object
is now available in the base game, but only from this event. You can buy some food from this
machine, but unlike their pack counterparts, instead of canned drinks or snacks, it serves
plated meals like a bowl of salad, a plate of ham and cheese, and stuff like that. Yeah, such
a pretty weird menu for that. Besides that, it pretty much functions the same as the vending
machine from Snowy Escape. Your food can sometimes get stuck and you can shake it to retrieve it,
but you can be crushed by it and get injured. If you try to shake them again while still
being injured, you may even die because of it, which means that death by vending machine is now
a base game feature! I even tested this on my base game-only version of the sims 4 and it works.
Now let’s talk about the new personality trait that can be unlocked as the second reward of the
third week, called “Practice Makes Perfect”. So what’s the deal with this trait? Well, it was
stated that they will learn a skill slower in general at first, but then as your sim keeps
practicing the skill over and over again each day, they will begin gaining skills at a
faster pace and in the final stage, they will learn the skill 50% faster compared
to regular sims. Hence the name, practice makes perfect. Skills are divided into four categories,
creative skills like music, painting, writing, and knitting, social skills like charisma,
comedy, mischief, and selvadoradian culture, mental skills like logic, fishing, herbalism,
and wellness, and physical skills like fitness, dancing, and snow sports, and you need to always
learn skills in the same category in order to gain the boost. Sims with this trait can also have a
mindful walk where they will stroll around the neighborhood and they’ll feel focused afterward.
Additionally, they can also have a soothing shower to get inspired. Oh and if you haven’t claimed
this trait yet, you can have sims equip it by using cheats. Activate the “testingcheats on”
cheat and, while controlling the targeted sim, type in this specific code. I’ll put the cheat
code in the video’s description. After entering it, the sim will now have this trait.
For those playing in PC, this other new addition may interest you. This update also added
in an experimental feature to run The Sims 4 with DirectX11. For those who don’t know, DirectX is
basically a built-in graphic interface software on Windows that deals with a game’s rendering,
graphics, etc. Currently, DirectX12 is the newest version of it and most PCs run with it. Before
this update, The Sims 4 still exclusively ran on DirectX9, which is the old version of DirectX that
was released way back in the early 2000s where old games usually use this. Since the last update,
the game is beginning to be fully updated to run with DirectX11, but for now, since it’s still in
the testing phase, players can activate this new feature by going into the game’s properties in
EA App or Steam and type in this exact argument, then apply it. If you run the game with this
argument, you will potentially experience enhanced game performance and graphics quality. This
update is designed to increase the overall gaming experience, with improved rendering capabilities
that will allow for more details and immersive environments in future releases. Keep in mind that
if you use mods, you may experience visual issues with this version active so be sure to disable
mods first just in case. The team stated that in the future, the game will fully implement this
version so you don’t need to activate it manually. I think those are the only new features included
in this update. The rest of them are pretty much performance improvements and bug fixes.
A while ago, The Sims social media posted this letter about the current state of The Sims
4 and how they acknowledged many performances and gameplay issues the game is having, so they
decided to assemble a team to investigate and fix these issues. Well, it’s about damn
time. The game is almost 10 years old as of now. Anyway, in this update, they’ve made some
optimizations to the game so it uses less memory, has fewer crashes, experience faster load process,
and gets better frame rate. I haven’t gotten the time to do a comparison between the old and new
performance, so please let us know in the comments if you do feel any difference after the update.
There are plenty of bug fixes this time around, and we’ll be running through all of them
Dishes left in corners will no longer be ignored when cleaning up

it becomes out of season, it will be removed until it’s in season again.

changes in facial structure when aging up. In Growing Together, The “Had a Baby“ Milestone
now triggers from having a Science Baby or giving birth at the hospital rabbithole.
In High School Years, Teens cannot send flirty messages on Social Bunny to adults
or household family members and vice versa Still in High School Years, after a teen high
school Sim completes all tasks and aces exams, they will now be properly
promoted to a better grade. In Horse Ranch, Sims will no longer
autonomously buy mini goats which caused the UI to pop up out of nowhere before.
Still in Horse Ranch, nectar value is now properly increased when selling to the mysterious rancher.
Additionally, horses will no longer get stuck while sleeping too close
to the horse training ball. In Island Living, Mermaid Conservationists can
now complete the “Snorkel in Mua Pel'am“ job task. And finally, in Seasons, During winter,
the weeding animation will no longer repeat and the Sim will actually remove
all the weeds surrounding the plants. So those are all the changes from the update
released on May 28th 2024. As mentioned before, there’s this other small emergency update
released on June 6th 2024. Besides fixing some of the exploits regarding the login event,
it also fixes the incorrect tooltip that appeared for the purchase interaction on the new vending
machine, some of the issues from the new trait so the buffs will now appear as intended,
some text issues from the login event in the Spanish language of the game, a specific last
exception error, and the names and descriptions of some flowers. It also fixes some crash and
issues from the Directx11 version of the game. And now, I want to recap the rest of the base
game updates that was released in the last 6 months since the last video where I showcased
the game’s update was back in December 2023. On April 16th 2024, there was an
update that only added some bug fixes On March 6th 2024, there was also an
update that also only added some bug fixes On February 28th 2024, there
was another update that, again, only features a bug fix for a gamebreaking bug
One day before that, on February 27th 2024, there are bug fixes of course and a new feature!
Which is, the addition of this useless shopping cart button that flashes annoyingly to promote
the players of packs they haven’t owned. Yeah, as expected, everyone was having a meltdown about
it when it was first implemented, and surprisingly enough, it was still in the game. Damn
On January 16th 2024, there’s yet another bug fixes update
And finally, on December 14th 2023, a few days after For Rent was released, an update
was released to fix some bugs introduced in the previous update and the bugs from For Rent.
And that’s pretty much it. Yeah, in terms of new features for the base game, we basically got
almost nothing for the first half of this year, and that’s why I didn’t make
any videos about these updates. But in terms of new Sims
Delivery Express contents, there are two additions this time around. On April 2024, we got two new ombre
variants for these existing hairstyle models And on February 2024, we got some new vitiligo
skin details for all sims of all ages. There are several vitiligo patterns on different body
parts, ranging from face, back, chest, stomach, arms, and legs. You can mix and match
them between these different variants. So those are the new things added to
the game on June and also a recap to all the other updates before. What do you guys
think of these additions? Let us know in the comments down below. Thank you so much guys for
watching this video, I hope that you like them, and if you do, feel free to subscribe to
my channel if you haven’t. See you later!
