the real and honest reason why your ad is not selling you a Rolex in fact I'll give you seven reasons they don't think you earn enough money how would they know how much money you earn well as soon as you walk into the ad store they will be making a subconscious decision about you within the first 30 seconds so make sure you look good and present yourself well they will listen to how you talk and communicate and they'll determine what your relationship is like with luxury watches is it you have to have it at all costs it's so important to you or is it kind of like yeah you know they're nice but I'm not too fast like if I get one that's fine it makes a bit of a difference the will naturally ask more questions about yourself and what you do for a living and they will quickly make an assumption about your financial status and they base that on the company that you work for the job title how long you've been working there for and I hate to say it but there is a very big difference between a full-time lawyer and a parttime librarian you just don't have a good enough reason to get offer a Rolex think about it how many people walk into a store and ask for the exact same watches that you want it's probably hundreds wouldn't be surprised for certain models if it was in the thousands and look if these hundreds of people they might have a job than you they might earn more money than you they might be way more Charming than you they might have a longer ad relationship than you do and look the ultimate cheat code they might be a celebrity so it's way easier to get the watches for them than it is for you so how the hell are you going to compete with these people and end up getting the watch that you want well you just have to have the strongest reason for asking for the watch it's literally like a sales pitch or like you're trying to get investment for a startup you have to sell yourself you have to sell them the dream you have to make them want to sell you the watch to place your strength ask yourself what is unique about me what can I talk about that will give me an edge over everyone else I mean yes you can say that you know it's for a 50th birthday or you're having a baby or it's for a wedding or an anniversary but come on guys be a bit more creative like use your imagination and try to put together a way better story I don't know for example you're running the length of Africa or you go to the Olympics in Paris next month and you know you want something to commemorate the special occasion you can't lie you have to actually be going to the Paris Olympics but I don't know make so like insert your amazing cool thing about you here and tell that to to your ad they think you're a reseller they think you're going to sell the Rolex look if you Storm Into the ad and you only ask or if you demand for the sports Rolexes the most popular sports Rolexes they are going to have a negative view on you and they're not going to take you seriously and you're probably not going to get a watch they'll genuinely just think that you're asking for the popular Rolexes because they make the most amount of profit on the gray market and they'll think you're going to sell them on top of that if you actually talk about the gray market and you talk about reselling and how much money that watches make and all that kind of stuff that they're going to think they're going to think you're a reseller they're going to think all you care about is how much value um is associated with the watches that you're asking for don't even talk about the gray Market don't even mention reselling even if you've bought a watch or sold a watch on the gray Market in the past and made money don't even mention it pretend it's not even a thing it doesn't exist reselling watches oh oh I didn't even think about reselling doesn't exist the reason why I say this in such a strong way is because they want to sell s watches to people that will keep watches forever and pass them down from generation to generation and they'll build a collection over the years with the ad they want it to be like this mutual bond this friendship and you know so just play play their game in the ad you're focusing on the wrong things you talk too much about the watches that you want and I know it sounds counterintuitive to talk about the watches that you actually want to buy from them but talking about the watches you've asked for over and over again makes you come across needy and desperate for them it's like you've got a question why would someone be so desperate for a watch it makes you look like you don't understand the luxury industry and how the selling process in the luxury World works and I know it seems weird it really does like you can talk about watch is generally but the watches that you've asked for that you want to buy once you've mentioned it and they've made a note that you're on this list for these watches don't bring it up again it will not benefit you from this moment on to talk about those watches so just don't do it you should talk about the relationship that you want to build with the ad and I hate using that phrase building a relationship it's so worn out and so boring what I mean when I say build a relationship is just be friendly just be kind show interest in them and I've said this many many times in the past with ads it's a popularity contest if they like you they will want to sell you a watch so just be a genuine humble person do not treat them like they are the key to unlocking your horology dreams because they will see right through you and you won't get a Rolex from them you are buttering up the wrong people at the ad you have a sales manager or whatever their job title is but a key decision maker that will basically decide where watches get allocated to okay yes you have the sales reps that will have clients and they will help you but where do they go for sign off they go to the sales manager who will give the okay or the not okay and yes you need to build a relationship with your sales rep because they will be your Advocate when talking to the sales manager when they put you forward you also need to meet the sales manager you need to have an introduction with the sales manager if they don't know who you are they're going to be way less likely to actually allocate the really good watches so ask your sales rep please can I have a word with the sales manager I'd love to meet them it'd be great to introduce myself and have a chat if you see them in the store in the ad go up to them have a conversation I know it's 2024 and people don't like talking to each other anymore but just introduce yourself put your hand out shake it look them in the eyes say some words sorted this is the person that you need to be buttering up and when I say buttering up there's a right and a wrong way to do this by the way just be again I said this before just be genuine just show your interest in watches show that you're a passionate person that loves watches and look you'll be fine they don't think you're a long-term client what do I mean by this well you might not live locally to the ad that you're trying to get a watch in and some ads will only sell watches to people that live nearby I mean look you could be a student and you're only in the city for 2 3 years you might be on vacation somewhere you might be at the airport it might be a fleeting visit and if they can see that pretty quickly I mean they could ask you what your address is right um that's probably the best way to know but if they think you're not a long-term client they're probably going to sell to someone who does live there and has lived there and will continue to probably just live there for a long time cuz they will probably end up being a better client for them in the long run and it does make sense to be fair like if you're in a city for 2 three days on on vacation versus someone that lives there it's like you can understand why they would want to favor someone who lives there right and I don't agree with this and I definitely don't like it but you might be single you might have no kids and for some reason uh ads prefer people that are married with kids just thinking off the top of my head why that would be well I guess being married with a family is with a house and a mortgage is a sign of uh maturity stability structure uh higher disposable income all these things that ads just prefer I guess and also an opportunity to sell them other stuff because a wife wants jewelry and maybe other brands and kids maybe in the future can also bu watches it's it's just about making as much money as possible for the ad right and finally you guessed it you don't spend enough money at the ad yeah no points for guessing that one but sadly it's true the ad is a business they're operating to make as much revenue and profit as possible and you know who do you think is going to get the panda Daytona the part-time librarian that has low disposable income and hasn't bought a single other watch from that ad or the family man who's a full-time lawyer with a wife and kids who spent £20,000 on jewelry for the wife and £150,000 on other watches probably the live li no I'm joking I don't know why I'm being so harsh on the librar I'm really sorry for any librarian out there I'm really sorry I don't I don't mean it there's nothing against you but my point is obviously out of these two profiles the full-time lawyer with the high disposable and the spend history of course they're going to get the panda Daytona because it lines the ad's pockets it helps the ad sales reps and sales manager hit their targets what would you do in that situation have a think about it and the next time you complain about ad's not giving you a watch think about if it was me in sales at the ad yeah I'd probably be trying to sell omegas and tudas and bright WIS because well one it's my job and two you know it helps me earn more money so it's
