THE SHOCKING DECLINE OF QATAR AIRWAYS

this cutter air is falling behind and losing its title of the world's best airline fact is my recent flights on the Middle Eastern giant have been below average outdated planes dirty cabins unfriendly and demotivated crew and running out of food choices are just a few to mention while I've experienced some amazing economy class products this year and a very strong recovery of the aviation Market cutter Airways seems to struggle to find back to its Old Glory so please join me today on a flight from Colombo to London with a start stop in Doha [Music] my journey started early morning in Sri Lanka's beautiful Capital Colombo with a smooth check-in experience the first part of the journey would take me from here all the way to Doha where I get the chance to check out the new tropical gardens called orshat inside the airport and then connect onwards to London Heathrow once checked in I made my way to the lounge Park quick snack and waiting for today's plane to arrive foreign Airbus aj30 is taking us to Doha today and this is where the first problem already lies if Qatar airas wasn't taking an unnecessary gamble about their Airbus a350s which resulted in their Airbus a321 new orders to be canceled by Airbus we wouldn't be flying in such a dinosaur an airline that strives to be the very best in the world shouldn't be suffering from such poor Fleet Management and as of 2023 the airline is still operating 15 of them now some people would argue that they sent those old planes to countries they don't prioritize but in my opinion Kumar from negombo or Sachin from Hyderabad deserve just as good of the product as Peter from Manchester thank you before we go on board let me explain to you why I evaluate the service the way I do today having met Qatar CEO albaca on different occasions I know that he expects nothing less than a world-class performance of a screw I'm a very easy passenger and I've tried hundreds of economy class products from around the world to compare to other Airlines and today we simply try to answer this question is Qatar Airways really the best airline in the world so let's go and find out foreign turning their back to me without saying hello being super cold and not the slightest interest in your customer who paid a lot of money to fly with them today also the rest of the crew absolutely lacked motivation after a 24-hour layover in Sri Lanka the crew should be well rested and happy to do their work but unfortunately not today nothing is but here we are welcome onboard this old lady with 275 seeds in a 242 configuration once again this plan was supposed to be retired a while ago but the whole a350 drama and the 321 cancellation make this a reality and this piece of Hardware is very far away from any International standards these days something that could have been prevented [Music] another major issue is that every window seat comes with one of those boxes which are part of the in-flight entertainment severely reducing your leg room I'll switch the screen in front of you is quite dated and equality was underwhelming headphones in a blanket were ready at my seat and we then pushed back for our flight to Doha ran out of choices and that's exactly what happened on this flight and I wasn't even sitting in the back of the plane as I usually do and one shows that either the catering team didn't load the plane properly or the airline tries to cast on this particular flight that shouldn't be happening to a world-class Airline such as Qatar Airways and added to a string of shortcomings and trust me there is more to come the food was okay and rather dry but I totally love the dessert that came with it and it's definitely a contender for the dessert of the Year award also a huge shout out to all my Pakistani subscribers since my unseed neighbor happened to be one of them great guy great conversations next on the agenda was the Louvre View and let me tell you it was an absolute mess and none of the crew was really bothered to do anything about it when a fellow passenger asked them to perhaps give it a bit of a clean since there was urine all over the floor the crew would just ignore them and not even look at them once again I was quite shocked to see that Qatar airas crew could have such a terrible attitude and don't care about the cleanness of the plane back at my seat would slowly start our descent into Doha and quite frankly this line was a huge disappointment in nowhere world class likes of Singapore Airlines Emirates cafe starlux or even British Airways offer a way Superior product to what I just experienced if you ask for my honest opinion but since I was going to fly onwards to London which is their absolute Flagship route we should get a better overall picture of the state of Qatar Airways economy class foreign [Music] airport it's actually Doha hamat International some people say this design was stolen and uh I mean we've all been to the jewel in Singapore beautiful place but what it is it's a beautiful Oasis of calmness and it's very yeah very calming on the soul walking through here quite impressive I love this bit because usually when you transit in in Doha you walk past this massive a giant Yellow teddy bear but I much rather prefer this but now let's head to our gate next flight London Hamad airport is always a place to try and sit at and I never had any issues in the past last year over 35 million passengers use the airport mostly due to Qatar hosting the FIFA World Cup I also got to say hello to the iconic yellow bear and made my way to the gate for the Boeing triple seven experience to London Heathrow Qatar is operating over 60 Boeing triple sevens especially on the London flight you will fly in them there quite frequently also the Airbus A380 is flying to London as well which I'm going to review next month together with the airline's new Boeing 727 Max very much looking forward to that flight now let's get on board right at the door I was told off not to film which is completely fine with me but it's the way these things are communicated and remember back in the days Qatar Airways was one of the most camera friendly airlines in the sky but that also seems to no longer apply crew once more didn't bother greeting its passengers and seemed like they don't want to be here from a paying customer experience that was rather sad and not what you would expect from one of the world's best Airlines we're gonna however the seed is absolutely world class on this triple seven a big screen USB and Universal power outlets are just a few great features to mention the plane comes with 312 seats in a 343 configuration also in the legroom situation is more than perfect also the in-flight entertainment offers plenty of entertainment option and is for sure one of the best in the world my favorite perk is the 10 or flight internet connectivity something I'd love to see on other airlines as well I was quite lucky and members I encountered today very friendly well trained and very much interested in his passengers that's how it used to be before the pandemic so we are two two and a half hours into the flight uh meal service has started and interestingly there was only two choices either beef or a vegetarian option which for an airline that aims to be and aspires to be and has been the best airline in the world that is a little bit uh yeah underwhelming I guess that's the right word and all that by comparing it to other world-class Airlines also service seems a bit uncoordinated a bit hectic it doesn't really make sense no structure so they're giving out food and Charlie like was pulled past me and then it came back in a serving here and there very patchy service however food looks pretty good so let's see what it tastes like the food was pretty alright and once again the dessert stood out for me absolutely delicious after dinner a coffee and tea service was conducted it was then time though for the infamous blue review and once again it was in a sad State back in the days crew members would check and maintain the lavatory after every guest but that no longer seems to be the case on Qatar Airways while other airlines have increased their focus on hygiene ever since the pandemic Qatar seems to be lacking in this field afterwards I went back to my seat and took full advantage of the free road that I had all to myself as well as the all you can serve internet flat for just ten dollars Qatar Airways is offering the rest of the plane was rather endless and we then slowly started our descent into London Heathrow but how to summarize today's flight on Qatar Airways the first line was definitely below average and nowhere near International standards in fact everything was a letdown it was quite shocking to see such a poor performance from the airline so was the second flight while it wasn't as bad as the first one you can see a clear pattern of quality decline whether it comes to the crew hygiene or food choices something isn't quite right and it's definitely not the Qatar Airways That I Used to Know back in the days I'd always loved the eagerness and professionalism of their staff but to me it seems that there must be something going on behind the scenes that the crew is definitely lacking motivation the airline promotes itself as the best of the best and I can surely say that they wouldn't even make the top 10 since I had much better flights this year in the back whether it was on starlax Cafe Pacific Qantas or even Air China which all outperformed the Doha
