this morning we went to sing a song that says fill my cup Lord sometimes there's an emptiness within which no one cares to see or acknowledge sometimes the depths of the pockets are increased by The Emptiness of the wallet sometimes there's a loneliness within that cannot be covered by the crowd without sometimes there's noise allow which is because of all the emptiness all around but there's a God in heaven who fills our empty cup and he teaches us how to walk with a full cup for you cannot walk with a full cup at the pace of an empty cup he hears your unseen and unspoken cries and he sees your exact need and this is why this morning before we start want to sing this song in Swahili you might recognize the hym in English the hym in English says fill my cup Lord in SW it says [Music] ja or some of you your cups may need to be mended maybe it's broken [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] he part take you [Music] [Music] am our subject this morning is the secret weapon against regret the secret weapon against regret let's pray again as we pause to hear God's word Heavenly Father our cups are lifted to you for filling for mending that you will make our lives lives worthwhile and meaningful because you have done something in our hearts today I pray that that which needs to be done both in the preaching the hearing and the doing of this word will take root in your power talk to us and bless us in Jesus name amen the secret weapon against regret a father's teary voice related his regret during his young daughter's funeral as he confessed his shortcomings as a father he deeply regretted not being there during the daughter's battle with endometriosis the father in his stuttering speech that audibly regret H expressed regret you could hear pain and anxiety in a church service he admitted that he failed his daughter more often than not his words it pains me more than uh more that we did not enjoy each other's company a visibly shaken father said now the next day it was a funeral it was the burial of this girl now a section of the MERS noticed that the father was not there he was missing and one of them asked where is he we can see the aunties the grandfather the grandmother and Mom where is Dad but a lot of people were angry with the fact that the father was missing that one mon when asked he said wherever the father was or whether wherever the father is is none of our business he has not been in the daughter's life all the while so even if he misses her last day on Earth it's still okay soon they learned tragically that the dad had died on the burial date under unclear circumstances some speculations had it that the father may have been hard hit by the daughter's death and may have suffered self-victimization and regret that was heightened by the social bashing and insensitive censure I use that story with a bit of carefulness because it's still fresh in the news Charles Pon said if you do not wish to be full of regrets when you are forced to time when you are in health and strength let me speak to the young people if you wish one day to reach my age and say I do not have any regret work when you are still strong when you have health as tense moment when a pastor asks in a wedding is there anyone who has an objection as to why this wedding should not go on and a lady stood from the back and said yes objection the groom is already married and I have the certificate the groom was facing this side the woman walked forward and when the groom turned the woman said wrong charge he confirmed that the groom was not the one he was talking about wrong priorities the best time to prevent regret is early youthful time is the best time for anyone to set up his life so that he would not regret it youth is the secret against regret youth is the seed of life I dare say it is the planting time it is the preparation time because you have the time the opportunity to form good habits the chance of cleansing the heart Fountain the best moment of sweeping the corridors of perception teaching yourself to weigh matters and to think instantly and to represent yourself in your time that you will not regret to train the heart to work in coordination with the hand and the head youth is a marvelous time one preacher said it is a Pity that it's wasted on young people there is a plan of the Almighty Mighty too wonderful for me I have never understood it I'm struggling to understand it why God makes important things lasting decisions unchangeable life momentous decisions that they must be made when you're young I wish he could reverse that decree he can't that you must decide who to live with when you are young then the rest of your life to manage that stupidity you had the people who laughed if not managed then reap the result of your carelessness does it mean that if you have the privilege of being a youth you will not regret of course not all of you listening here know that anyone young and old yellow or black light tall short if you do not pay attention to this one secret it's the only secret weapon against regret that I bring to you today if you don't pay attention to it and I'm going to give it to you today you will surely regret deep regrets when the conscience will now Rebel telling you you wasted opportunity some of you know it you see a girl coming to sing she's married I I could have married that one you wasted you saw someone when the mind is now illumined and you wail for your ignorance when you see that you actually neglected your day of opportunity and some of you will still make excuses at the end of this sermon our world today has many ways of raising excuses silencing the important power of the conscience that awakens them to their need of Duty they Advocate Riot us living living without regret I've heard them say well there is no way you can escape regrets there is no way you can live carelessly and not regret those things have a cause and effect relationship some of them add to the regret intoxication wine alcohol and the they want to num their conscience from its duties from being told that you wasted it many go into alcohol and wine some go into Amusement it is sigon Fred who said men live for pleasure and then Victor Hugo came and corrected him and said men only go to entertainment when they miss meaning that man was born for meaning and in its absence they go to cheap entertainment and and pleasure now look around your life as I begin this message and see whether your life is full of amusements entertainment and some of you go underground and they don't want to face reality they don't want to face responsibility I am here to bring those things to the surface that you might make a decision on something in your life again there is only one way to avoid regret and I call upon this audience in new life and online to investigate Through the Bible from the great preacher Noah to the ignorant nabal to the mighty King Herod even the young Baza I have of complaining why is w i n e Bel shaza the king turn with me now to your Bible in Daniel chapter 5 belazza the then King of Babylon made a feast the Bible says this Feast happens in the absence of his father nabonidus that was the name of his father his grandfather was the King Nebuchadnezzar but nabonidus had a way of being in Holiday away from his kingdom a president who was away from his King om he was ever visiting this country and that country I wonder what are you laughing at I'm talking about nabas he was the father of Bel chaza you laugh you're not laughing at what I'm saying the guy was never there at home so the young man is left alone and listen to me I heard what your children preach are saying there are many young people who have gone into riotous because of the absence of their fathers fathers listen to me I have read the statistics out there that children of involved fathers turn out better in many ways in their intelligence in their social skills in in in in their way of dealing with people they even have long lasting marriages they do well economically the statistics is out there the guy nabas is away from home and he's having party this one instance before I get you to the Bible you need a little bit history um josepher says he was he loved especially Arabia so he went to Holiday in a place called tamer in the Oasis of Arabia and so his son decords life devoid of instruction and guidance and says life is party after party I think if the father would have been at home there would be better guidance better advice but the tragedy that follows is a warning for all of us who must take heed that we don't sink into any of this wine that leads to regret in that morning you know outside the Babylonian Kingdom there was a anybody knows that word in the young people today they have have I don't know they don't have advisors there's no counselor I hope you'll remember this acronym wine as we read it the first thing I want young people today to take note of is to avoid wastage what did I say we read in verse one that the king made a great feast one of my elders would read that word till you feel it's great he would read like a great feast I don't know whether he needed feasts to be great then he says for a thousand of his Lords hm wastage if we must be kept from regret Bel shaza must know that his parties must be fewer not just in numbers but in their frequency this guy lived to impress he was a show off he did things that were unnecessary ate unnecessary food he wore unnecessary clothes he was with unnecessary company he went to places he didn't need to go excess living young people listen to me if you want to avoid regret live within your means avoid wastage that's the W of the wine today majority of disease are regrettably rooted in wastage and excess much of what we suffer today is not lack we suffer because of overabundance overindulgence the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah they had too much we can't choose which choir is coming for music Sabbath for camp camp meeting too much we just have too much too many speakers that we can't listen to the word of God we must add many of them you know everyone must be accommodated of our abundance and parents who are listening to me here many are young people children are spoiled by Abundant parenting over parenting oh you didn't hear it over parenting but did you catch the tone of parents with their children because the father is not there they now lavishly put too much money on their children and gifts to compensate for their lack of presence or their absence well friends if you are rich be rich for yourself your children are not rich they call themselves cool kids they have too much I am telling you I grew up in luck I'm not saying you start starving your children but there is something that lack or you going out to fend for yourself works in the heart of a young man and the king of Babylon already knew this his old grandfather Nebuchadnezzar he knew that for him to master the youth he just needed to pick the good ones put them in the state house and then the Bible says their daily provision was given them so they didn't need to wake up and think about and worry about anything it was all provided of abundance it's an enemy even to good parenting give your children what they need not what they want there's a new commandment you have created parents obey your children but let's leave that and also talk about overworking over eating over sitting I think I should ask you to stand up at that point please stand up and just sit down it is good for your health just stand there there's nothing Unholy about standing and just sitting back and you don't need a Bible text on that one thank you over sitting you know we sit all day long we are on bed then we struggle outside to the chair then we stumble to the car then we stumble into the lift then we stumble out of the lift into another chair then we stumble back to the chair to the car and we are too much sitting over sitting you can quote that to me I just created that overcrowding but all of you must come to this church abundance too much our world today seems to love its excesses and this was the scene of the men of Noah's time the sin of Sodom and gomorra useful things that are carried into excess whether it be eating or drinking eat what the body needs let me say it in a way you understand eating what the body does not need is a waste spending money on what you don't need is a waste somebody said If today I buy what I can't what I don't need tomorrow I will need what I can't afford Good Wonderful sentence the world system encourages waste waste of time on social media and cheap sports then the youth wake up in middle age to a crisis because they wasted learning and growth opportunity they never learned important skills of communication of networking financial management living form Mission and all the Thrifty lifestyle this is waste of resources I see it in government I see it in churches I see it in homes spending to impress until you're depressed wastage I call upon you if you don't want to regret avoid w I didn't hear you in one of my seminars I taught Financial Thrift and how to manage waste I call it simple formula for Frugal mathematics it included buying in bulk buying winter Necessities in summer or during summer booking tickets early traveling to kissy in May because the distance is still the same in May and in SE and in December baining yeah baining is just checking whether that's the right economic of you you take your children to schools you can afford your children are now going to Netherlands for for for holiday trip then you start getting your children depressed because you can't afford it is the wrong School you took the child take the child to a school where their holiday is Mombasa you can afford waste I call it waste please listen even in this age this is the words of our good Prophet I will quote her if I get the opportunity and here is one opportunity even in this age of passion for manone getting when competition competition is so sharp and methods are so unscrupulous it is still widely acknowledged that for a young man starting in life These are ambassadors listen for a young man starting in life are you following Integrity diligence Temperance Purity and Thrift constitute a better Capital than any man I like the guy that closes that list Thrift frugally how to use things well the people today go into excess to impress and they ruin even their relationships by excesses a parent who allows his child to eat anything soon notices the child will be poisoned social media feeds the mind with all kind of empty calories making the minds obese today I came to call upon you to avoid wine avoid wastage stop wastage stop wasting time on social media stop wasting physical and mental strength stop wasting water and electricity turn off that tap stop spending to impress stop wasting your words use your words carefully if you're a mother don't put too much emotion when you go to school to educate your mind educate your emotion also you need to know how to measure how much you need to put into a word before you talk to your husband children but young people also stop wasting opportunity when you're in school you've not just gone to train your brain you are training yourself Networks you're making friends and partners but friends the greatest wastage I see is how we live our life with respect to honoring God Man's first and last use of his life best use of his life is to fear God and keep his commandment for this is the whole duty of man and those who do any other thing waste their life we are called to honor God and to glorify him any way of living if you invent any a way from what I'm saying it's a waste I care not what you do or who you are though you should own a thousand acres in Nairobi and Enterprises if you love not the Lord if you serve not the Lord you're wasting your life you are a poor soul degraded and you will perish and regret even if men put for you columns in the air and they call you Kongos if you've not lived for Jesus it's a wasted life as the vine which yields no cluster is useless as the Fig which yields no fruit as the candle which only smokes but doesn't produce light as a cloud without water is the man who does not serve the Lord many regret things but the greatest regret is when you've wasted your opportunity let me read for you job 29: 2 3 and 4 a good text job kind of regrets at time he says oh that I were in the months past as in the days when God preserved me when his candle shined upon my head and when by his light I walked through Darkness as I was in the days of my youth when the secret of God was on my Tabernacle my understanding of westage up to today I am running on some of the foels that I collected when I was in the Ambassador age when we went to church with Becky every day at much information a plethora of data all around but there's deficiency of wisdom too much education but very little learning and I came to ask you don't let education hinder your learning ignorance in the most important things ignorance in personal health young people self- knowledge know yourself know your personality take some time and gather this knowledge while you do also academic knowledge you also need something called professional economical knowledge how to translate money to sorry how to translate skill to money is not enough to be a doctor you can be a doctor and a poor doctor you're not paid for your profession you are paid for the value you add to the marketplace knowing how to translate your knowledge into money your skill into money I have been paid highest for speaking Yeah I have been paid up to if I count I think I've reached 110,000 per hour of speech but you should know how I put so much into it the books I read on communication so don't spare learning don't be lazy in learning if you're a parent pick a book on parenting areas of learning include spiritual knowledge important Financial knowledge and then how to weigh that which comes to you in terms of knowledge how to think through it today we have a big problem men are mostly followers followers but I ask you to become a student when you hear something from someone read at least two books before you can make up your mind about it make up your mind say that with me make the Mind Is Made Up so whatever you've been given sits here then you make up you make make and then there's Financial knowledge young people need to learn this very early I am finishing a book called monetize your skin skill and passion the true meaning of money and work how to stay away from debt how to start an Enterprise these are important knowledge most of our young people are Financial handicaps I wanted to say allans yeah which one is is best okay you choose I ask you to learn to know how to read learn to learn study the Excellence of writing and journaling useful knowledge will help you in difficult places Daniel's knowledge of letters he showed up and he saw those letters told the king e these how we can solve health problems so learn by reflection learn from your past the past is a school to learn from not a club to beat yourself with learn from others reading ought to occupy your time of sitting and waiting while while you're on cues this is how young people will benefit family if you're a father family should see and hear you reading our children should learn that whole some books are a good Pastime activity and Noble gifts above candies let your children see you reading our library should liberally grow in proportion as our possessions grow our minds need expanding as our ears also Advance my problem today is the disinterest in reading and knowledge acquisition it's a big problem men would learn more if they inquired more in areas of family in parenting and communication we can learn ah but some mother now he says if you work where I work by the time you get home through the jam it's late you are tired you have to catch some supper watch a little TV how do you expect me to sit down and read well that's not the case of young people for you have time to read but this old woman who says Where do I get time to read I ask you to just see your life it shows up in your in your wallet it shows up when you open your mouth in your leadership it shows up that You' have not read the prophet warns us of the destruction of God's people as a result of lack of knowledge it's still a truth that the man who cannot read and the man who does not read are both illiterate say that with me The Man Who and the other man who are in the same WhatsApp group both literate they both perish for lack of knowledge when you miss the information you are ignorant and it moves to the third mistake that leads to regret write it down it's a fatal mistake and neglect if you want to avoid becoming tasteless and Aquatic you know the foods people cook nowadays the only food we know how to cook is Wu because we are been taught how to fry it and it's not us who makes it we order it if kingdom has been taken away from you friends there's a Day of Reckoning coming all excuses will be put into the balance and be weighed what is your excuse today it is adamic sin it is in our DNA the this sermon he is the one whose handwriting is on the wall but for us the handwriting still says my son give me your heart Charles Pon says if I had only one more sermon to preach before I died I I would be about my Lord Jesus Christ and I think that when we get to the end of our ministry one of our regrets as preachers now this is for preachers there are two preachers in front of me any personal sermon one of our regrets as preachers will be that we did not preach more of Jesus Christ there's a harvest day that will reveal whether your life has been a life of wastage a life of of excess a life of ignorance or neglect or excuse I ask you friends one day that hand will be Unleashed on your wall to count the number to weigh your works I hope the Lord will not find a mistake I hope you won't find a mistake either a regrettable mistake I ask you don't waste the opportunity of youthfulness don't waste your opportunity of service join PCM don't waste the opportunity of healthy life make good success of it don't be ignorant learn what the will of God is learn be trained in worldly education but also learn about eternal education learn the knowledge of God learn to trust God in your circumstance don't neglect the opportunity of growth correct those small small things is there anybody here who says I don't want that mistake of wine I don't want to regret I just want to go wasted life where we have been ignorant where we have neglected opportunities and made excuses why we should not come to Jesus yet Jesus still stands at the door and he begs for us to come to him his love only keeps growing sweeter each day and he says today if you will hear his voice Harden not your heart because his love grows sweet each and every day I like a story of a certain um young lady this is a true story um this story the lady had exiled in her academics and made it all the way to a national school and when she made it to a national school just in form one she became very ill and got cancer and she was admitted in a serious hospital and she would never sleep without the father being there the the father would not waste opportunity to be with the daughter and so every day the father would spend the whole day there he quit work and stayed there the father educated the doctors in the hospital about the doctor's about the daughter's condition but um what I loved most about this father is that even when the daughter was you know dying he went and brought he would buy get blood for the patient but the last day when the daughter was dying the father says I will never neglect I will not make an excuse for my daughter I will do everything and I'll not waste any opportunity to be with this young one and Jesus does not waste any opportunity he does not neglect us he does not make excuses because of that and to invite us this afternoon will you make decisions to be with Jesus are you going to waste this opportunity to make a choice for him for his love grows sweet there are blessings that we are needing for hearing your word we pray that these blessings will come to us they there are blessings for heeding to your word we pray that these blessings will come to
