The Room - BAD MOVIES!

well I have to say after all the movies I've reviewed over the years the room is probably the one that you guys have requested the most I've put it off for a long enough time so here it is guys this is my review of the room now the room is an interesting movie in the sense that not a lot happens in it I mean things happen but a lot of the stuff doesn't mean anything and goes absolutely nowhere the room is actually pretty easy to pick apart because so many of its flaws are incredibly obvious things like writing and acting but I also found this to be a challenging review because there's just so much to talk about I mean I could probably just sit here and play the movie and in real time just review it and never stop talking Tommy Wiseau originally wrote this movie as a play and then adapted it to a 500 page book which he could never get published gee I wonder why 500 pages I could summarize this whole movie and probably about three or four sentences how could the story possibly last 500 pages I mean I know when you adapt a book to a screenplay some things get left out but if this was what they left into the movie what did they cut out from the book entire chapters of him walking chapter 6 lissa sweeps the floor I was completely baffled to find out that this movie cost six million dollars to make I honestly still don't know how that's even possible the vast majority of the movie takes place on a soundstage the cast is limited the props and set dressings are minimal at best and there are no special effects except for green screening the rooftop scenes so where did the money go apparently a lot of the money went into replacing the cast and crew buying a film camera instead of renting one which would be the smart thing to do and advertising the movie on a billboard in Hollywood that would stay there for five years Tommy was Oh apparently made the six million dollars by importing leather jackets that's a lot of jackets ok so the movie starts off with Johnny who's played by Tommy giving his fiancee Lisa a dress that he bought then some kid named Denny just comes over and we don't know what the connection is first I mean who is he is he their son they see like a brother-in-law is he a family member tommy says he's gonna go take a nap and Lisa decides to join him basically implying that they're gonna have sex but obviously Deni doesn't get the hint cuz he asked to come upstairs with them so Deni just stands around eating an apple while Johnny and Lisa start the dirty talking early all right I'm ready this is so pretty I can't wait for you to get it off of me oh yeah yeah so what does daddy do he goes upstairs and jumps into bed with that five minutes into the movie and I'm already totally confused and creeped out I just like to watch you guys turns out that Deni is a neighbor that Johnny kind of treats like a son but we don't learn that until about 30 minutes into the movie anyways after Deni leaves we have our first of many excruciating Lea long sex scenes I hate to break it to you Johnny but you're doing it wrong I mean look at it it's not even close unless of course maybe her vagina is located on her chest I don't know and I mean it's totally fine if Tommy is comfortable showing his ass on camera but that doesn't mean that we want to see it then Lisa has a scene with her mother where she basically tells her she's not in love with Johnny anymore but her mom tells her that doesn't matter and that she should just marry him because of his money anyways I'm glad you're listening to your mother nobody else listens to me probably because you give terrible advice so then Lisa calls over Johnny's best friend mark and seduces him which really sucks because then we have to sit through yet another long and boring sex scene seriously these scenes last two to three minutes which is a really long time especially when they lay boring R&B music overtop of them Johnny doesn't get this promotion he was looking for but it's okay because Lisa knows how to make him feel better do you want me to order a pizza whatever I don't care I already ordered a pizza oh you're good next we have you guessed it another sexy which is mostly compiled of footage from the first sexy believe it or not we're now 30 minutes into this movie and so far what has happened well to summarize lisa has sex with Johnny Lisa tells her mother she doesn't love Johnny Lisa has sex with Mark and Lisa has sex with Johnny again that Lisa has another conversation with her mother which is basically just the same as the first one except this time she lies and says that Johnny hit her and then somehow they just breeze over the revelation that her mother has breast cancer nobody wants to help me and I'm dying you're not dying mom I got the results of the tests back I definitely have breast cancer look don't worry about it everything will be fine they're caring lots of people everyday I'm sure I'll be all right oh I heard Edward is talking about me gee you'd think finding out you have cancer would warrant a more serious and emotional discussion but I guess not then later these two people just come into Johnny's living room and start eating chocolate and fooling around why who are these people why are they doing this do they not have their own homes to do this then Lisa and her mom come in and then Denny comes in which serves no purpose at all because he just leaves oh my god what a coincidence my reaction was pretty much the same at this point the rooftop of the building is a popular hangout for the characters in this movie and while Denny is up there he gets confronted by a drug dealer named Chris R who wants his drug money luckily the rest of the main characters show up just in time to get rid of the guy then for the next two minutes Lisa and her mother lead a redundant interrogation that goes absolutely nowhere how in the hell did you get involved with how are you giving them to I'm selling when the hell did you meet that man what kind of drugs do you take it's nothing like that scenes like this are one of the big problems with this movie because they are pretty much completely pointless they start these subplots with the other characters but they don't go anywhere they lead to nothing they're never resolved the next day we have the infamous rooftop scene which represents so many things that are wrong with this movie I did not hit her it's not true it's bullshit I did not hit her I did not oh hi mark oh hey Johnny what's up I have a problem with Lisa the voice is being dubbed over looks terrible the characters go through these sudden mood swings that make no sense at all and what's up with this wardrobe zip off cargo pants a v-neck tee and a blazer is it Johnny supposed to be a successful banker did he go to work like this maybe now we know why he didn't get that promotion seriously the scene is so poorly written that it doesn't connect with the audience at all because the behavior of the characters is so unrelatable if someone told you a story about a friend of theirs being brutally beaten would your reaction be this one of them found out about it beat her up so bad she ended up in a hospital in Guerrero Street haha what a story mark mark leaves just as Denny comes along and reveals to Johnny that he's in love with Lisa once again this is pointless because then during the conversation we learned that Denny already has a girlfriend who he wants to marry after college then we have this scene between Johnny and Lisa where he confronts her about lying you are lying I never hit you you got a me apart Lisa one more time you have Tammy partly shot and then the scene ends like most of the scenes of this movie with nothing ever being resolved and the characters ending up telling each other not to worry about it what do you mean don't worry about it your fiancee is accusing you of domestic violence which never happened then tells you she's reconsidering the marriage and you just tell each other not to worry about it then we have a scene in an alley where Mike and Johnny are having a completely pointless discussion until Mark and Denny arrive and start throwing around the football mark somehow kind of slips into and pushes Mike into the garbage cans hard to take Mike to the doctor but he says no so then they all just leave once again I'm completely amazed that nothing manages to happen here it's amazing that they actually built a set for this why are they having a conversation on the floor then we see Johnny Denny and Peter all dressed up in tuxedos and you think okay maybe this is because it's the wedding day but it's not they're just in tuxedos then mark comes over and just in case you didn't realize that he shaved his beard that's alright because the camera zooms in real nice and close you like it yes yeah great you looking a babyface huh and what two grown men do when they're all dressed in tuxedos well throw the football around of course except for Peter he doesn't really want to play come on choo-choo-choo-choo choo-choo-choo-choo to be clear that's their impression of a chicken eat chew chew chew chew chew chew chew chew so then they go outside to throw the football around and I'll tell you what I'll let you take a guess at what you think happens in this scene I'll even give you multiple choice answers I was actually surprised to find that the football was not included as part of the cast because it probably gives the most convincing performance in this movie then we have a scene in a coffee shop between Johnny and mark and we actually get some really interesting dialogue here how was work today oh pretty good we got a new client and the bank will make a lot of money what client I cannot tell you it's confidential oh come on why not no I can anyway how is your sex life I can't talk about it come on you didn't actually believe me did you and the torture continues as yet again we have another sex scene that lasts three minutes long I bet you'll be shocked to find out Johnny's party is filled with long and pointless shots Lisa manages to convince everybody to go outside while she makes out with Mark until they're caught by this random character who walks in what's going on here why are you doing this who are you I don't believe it you don't understand anything Matt leave your stupid comments in your pocket oh yes that is yes pretty sure that's yes I knew that's where I left them what do without my comments wait this is a bill on the rooftop johnny announces that lease is pregnant look I'm gonna tell him okay I just I don't want to ruin his birthday when is the baby due there is no baby I told them that to make it interesting we're probably gonna have a baby eventually anyway no you're not because you just said that you're going to tell him that you've been cheating on him so why would you expect to have a baby with him at some point do you think he's just gonna be totally cool with you his best friend on the side I feel like I'm sitting on an atomic bomb waiting for it to go off me too me too except I'm actually hoping that it goes off soon so that I can put me out of my misery then mark and Lisa get into a fight which makes mark and Johnny get into a fight but they quickly make up which is good because the next shot of the party is mark and Lisa dancing really closely together in front of Johnny this of course leads to another fight between Johnny and Mark you're just a chicken chip chip chip chip Gigi I'm sorry I have to go at all choo-choo-choo-choo choo-choo-choo-choo kakuka tap CooCoo cacha go evil bird chip chip chip chip Gigi look I haven't found the right girl when I do I will ask her out is anyone in this family ever even seen a chicken sled Johnny says everyone betrayed him and locks himself in the bathroom you can come out now Johnny she's gone in the few minutes bitch Lisa then leaves Johnny and as he agonizes over all their memories together he goes on a complete rampage oh no not the props the host got 6 million dollars and then johnny sodomized 'as the dress he bought Lisa the beginning [Music] I don't know gonna make it I can't do it I remember through this one then he decides the best thing to do is kill himself that he does it's he dead oh my god mark is he dead well judging by the giant pool of blood yes everyone starts crying over Johnny and mark even goes so far as to kiss him on the eye Danny of course sees everything and loses his shit completely and that's it I mean really this whole movie can be summed up in about four sentences Johnny loves Lisa Lisa cheats on Johnny Johnny finds out Johnny kills himself the rest of this movie is just filled in with scenes that are basically a waste of time and subplots that are never resolved and the worst part is everyone really just treats Johnny like shit in this movie he never did anything johnny was just a nice guy yes nice guys do finish last so in the end the bad people won I would say that I feel bad for the characters but I don't I mean it's almost impossible to care for any of them the random mood swings the logical behavior it's almost like watching a bunch of adults try to be kids but if you are looking for something interesting I would have to recommend the room the video game yes that does exist and it's pretty hilarious you can do pretty much everything in this game you can walk around San Francisco you can buy gifts for Lisa you can have Johnny take a shower and show off his ass I'll put the link in the description below because if you've seen the movie then you should definitely check out the game another funny thing is that when you google the room the character Mike is listed as being played by handyman Mike Holmes well sorry Mike but not even you can fix this [Music] and what's up with this movie poster anyways you think it was some kind of horror movie I just seen that face in the middle of the night shit myself [Music]
