The Road To Pinehurst | 2024 US Open

all right guys we have made it to Columbia Country Club for the local qualifying of the 2024 US Open there are five spots on the line two alternate spots I think about 80 guys so it's going to take a good round and my best guess I've played a bunch of qualifiers here in bunch of tournaments here I think the number today between two and three under maybe four under but if I if I'm in the 60s I'm going to feel good leaving and finishing the 18th hole so with that being said grab a chai grab a coffee enjoy some qualifying almost said PJ Tour golf it's not PJ Tour golf that's to come but USM qualif fire here Columbia ladies and gents warm is done three keys today actually I don't know how many keys have fun stay patient and really just trust the process and only focus on what you can control routine and attitude and so whatever happens happens out here but a win for today will be if I can commit to every shot have fun doing it and enjoy the competitive environment and when I'm filming this this is like three days before my pj tourent in Merle Beach so this is kind of like a a prep for a Tour event which is insane so see you guys [Music] [Music] [Music] than [Music] [Music] all right guys here we go hole number four welcome how we doing but this drive absolutely smashed up the left I mean right at that bunker with a fade and as you're going to see hot kick very hot kick I mean massive kick Into the Bunker and this bunker shot hit exactly I was trying to do land it right on top of the Ridge and it just like look at that it just keeps going I'm like what am I doing but again US Open qualifier you got to stay patient beautiful Chip Shot there we go and then brush it in for par nice [Music] ch [Music] all right here we go par five um the 16th hole my 7th of the day again we're one over here and this is a tricky one you got to play it left with a with a three iron or or three-wood or something and that leaves you about 250 260 and well here we go 232 and look at this beautiful cut three iron again I was very nervous you need you kind of need to take ad advantage of this hole and hit an absolute be and then I had a fast putt down the H down the hill here Mis rdit but the speed as you can see was was perfect which again I needed to make birdies and I got to this point like having to make a birdie and then we did it so this was a big momentum pot and hole all right number nine this t-shot sets up perfect for a draw three we just kind of hung it out to the right didn't turn it over and again not an awful shot but what where it left me quite interesting had a had to deal with some root issues and hit this beautiful like soft cutting five iron right front of the green exactly where I was trying to hit it again we're even par Hanging On by a thread at this point what it seems but again keys and these qualifiers stay patient have chances to birdie again great Chip Shot up there and then brush it in for par so again this is a very Scrappy nine holes a golf even pars I mean I wanted lower but at the same time I was still in the tournament and then absolutely Piper drive here on 10 gives me a good look at birdie um we wet shot in the green which again stacking good decisions staying patient it usually pays off in these in these one- day qualifiers in bigger tournaments good shot and here hit a good wet shot and then a great put that just slides across the Hole uh but again hit a great putt move on and oh got a little close that's tapen [Music] [Music] good [Music] part get right up [Music] right [Music] [Music] so I'm coming off an annoying par on my 12th hole um part five that I was going for and two but again it's fine still even part and then this drive just yikes four left um first really bad shot of the day that's going to cost me and as you're going to see where it ended up yeah the the punch out like look at actually a sick punch out I forgot how dumb of a shot that was and how bad of a spot I was in but again got it back in position we have a chance to get up and down for par and then soft Saucy little fluod dolis that was a good one look at that right back in position have a chance to stay at par still in this tournament um can I brush it in yeah and so in my mind pause in my mind we're even par two or three under is what I'm thinking is going to be the cut maybe four but like we're going to fight and scratch and Claw to get a two under and again we have five holes remaining all very or a few of them very scorable so it's like hey we're fine just keep being patient and then part I mean we have a 220 yard 225 yard par three and I mean look at this swing inbalance four iron beautifully struck just right at it oh I mean it almost goes in and it goes to the back Fringe and if it's this much closer look at this it goes back to the hole like I have 5 ft for birdie instead of have this basically putt I'm trying to lag and two putt again I mean look at this thing holy cow I think broke a lot lot but I have this putt to stay even par through 14 holes and I made it and again here on 15 another left the left's kind of guess crept in there and you don't want to go right but I just pulled this thing and now I'm trying to chip out and Dink yep hit the tree it yep at this point to chip out again we're going to pause the video so you're probably going be able tell them some body language that I'm definitely defeated I'm down on myself because in my mind I've got a bir's last three the last four for sure well I'm having to have a double punch out and so that's out the window bir's out of the window here I've got to get up and down for par just to have any sort of any sort of chance I check the scoreboard and I see that actually three under is probably not going to make it four under is probably going to be the number and I got a little ejected and you're going to see coming to the house body language was poor attitude was poor also play with a guy who played awful and I let that affect me for 15 holes I did a good job like basically keeping out not a big deal but in the I did not do a good job of just focusing on my game not worrying about what the other person was doing or how he was playing and a lot affect me so you add all these things up together and you get what's about to happen here and it's not nothing major but you're going to see a shift in Attitude not really giving up and ejecting but definitely not that same positive upbeat like oh it's fine let's let's just go and hit a shot that I usually have so let's continue on the video and see how I'll finish this thing out of why would you not [Music] [Music] great J [Music] now we're teeing off here on the 17th hole Par 3 hit a pretty decent shot like the wind kind of Flushed into my face it was it was a hair left but it sly struck and then in the in the bunker I'm like G and as you can see plug up to my eyeballs and I'm I'm hot I know it's over trying to keep a I try my best I don't I'm not going to give up I hate giving up um I don't believe in that and so I I was fighting those feelings but at the same time it wasn't like I didn't care a whole lot at this point and then double I I deserve that I I deserved the way I was handling myself those last three holes I deserve to to make do what happened do what I did on the 17th then actually bomb a drive here on on 18 to kind of like again I I didn't want to give up I wanted to stay in the fight as long as possible and like a mini victory was just like hey George commit to a driver here and let's try to end strong and then just Hammer a nine iron hit should have hit wedge you know why why not finish this way but again these are all learning experiences um got aggressive with the chip I tried making it almost made it and now I have this putt for for par to shoot 75 and I shot a 76 and it looks like I was stepping in the guy's line he had to go back and play a provisional and I was basically like I mean he was way out of it much like myself and I kind of just finished out so guys not proud of how I handle it but again it happens you're not going to be happy and positive all the time I want to show the good the bad the ugly and this was one of those times we'll kick it back to the outro to see what I say it was a learning experience I I got to compete in a tournament it didn't paint it didn't pain out the way I wanted to but you know what there's always next time and guys there will be a next time we're going to keep grinding we're keep fighting now George back to you well ladies and gents sorry you guys had a watch that most of the day was a grind off the tail was great and the putter felt great but the irons didn't quite feel there so it was kind of scratching clawing all day even par most of the day just like keeping my head in it keeping it in the game but then I checked the scores on 15 and saw that you know I had to finish four under on the last three I was like okay I ran out ran out of holes and then honestly like play with a guy that shot a lot of overpar and it probably affected me too much carne you could probably test I did a great job staying locked in for as long as I did 15th hole after I learned that basically I was eliminated hey you're eliminated I kind of I let the Motions get the best of me just kind of quick hit some stuff and eject it well what would you call like half ejection it wasn't full or was it full ejection I think it was half okay half I'll take half but again we have a lot of positives leading into BJ tourent next week putter feels great the drive off the tea obviously feel good I think I missed maybe three Fairways today 11 to 14 like that's great so clean up the iron game just a little smoother in the transition get a little less nervy I feel also the routine I don't know if car if you're going to put in the routines but it was a little clunky feeling routine wise it wasn't like as fluid and as natural and athletic as what I was doing Q school and Bermuda last year so work on that get to a spot next week where I can just roll in the shots be athletic not have a care in the world I think we'll be good but man this is pointy 76 that stings I came in here confident and fall flat in your face never as fun but hope you guys had fun watching the 76 one birdie but thank you all for watching uh thank you all for the support everything doesn't always
