and the next time you watch no don't even bother watching the movie the ten commandments because reality is you're going to see a whole new way of looking at the torah so we're in the book of exodus chapter two and many of you know what i'm going to be reading it says a man from the tribe of levy he went and married this woman also the daughter of levy and the woman had a son and when the baby boy was born she saw that he was good and she hit him for three months she could no longer hide him so she took and put a reed basket smeared it with clay and put some tar put the child in it and placed it in the nile the sister stood from afar in order to know what will happen pharaoh's daughter went down to the nile river and with her was all of her maidens they came to the nile and she saw the basket and she sent her maidservant and said please get me the basket she opened it up and she said whoa a child the baby's crying she had compassion and she said this is one of the hebrew boys moshe's sister immediately goes and says shall i go and get a jewish nurse maid to be able to nurse the baby she said yeah go so the girl went brought the boy's mother and pharaoh's daughter went and said take the boy home and when he grows up bring him back years later the mother brings back the boy and the pharaoh's daughter takes him into the palace and calls him moshe because motion hebrew means for i've drawn you i've joined you from the water now we've all know the story but into so many questions it does not make sense first and foremost what does it mean that she couldn't hide the baby any longer for three months so what did she do i got a great idea they're taking babies right down to chucking him into the nile river and killing him why don't i do the same thing hey jewish mother hello i'm going to take this baby put into a nice basket and i'm going to put some tar around until no water gets in and chuck it into the nile and whoa let me think about it who owns beachfront property in egypt a bunch of egyptians now they know that pharaoh has a decree that any jewish boy that is born thrown into the river why because the pr was from their stargazers from people that read the stars that a jewish boy will be born and he will go and overthrow pharaoh's kingdom and lead the jewish people out of slavery well they couldn't have that so people are just chucking baby boys into the river so what does the mother do i'll do it too here's a basket check who did she think was going to take the baby and keep it alive more so pharaoh's daughter is coming down to the river to bathe i don't know about you this is pharaoh's daughter she can bathe in any beautiful bathtub she wants in the palace where is she going to a place that is filled with um scorpions no mosquitoes i mean and maybe maybe a couple alligators who knows what's over there amongst the reeds and everything one thing for sure if you're the princess or better yet if you're paris hilton of egypt you're not gonna go down to this place to take a bath why was she going down to this place to take a bath then all of a sudden remember she's like hitler's daughter she knows that these people are out to overthrow my father's kingdom she goes there's a jewish boy i have compassion instead of killing it because if this is the boy that's going to overthrow her father's kingdom she's not going to be paris hilton anymore so what does she do yeah come let's feed the kid now even more so she goes and allows a jewish mother to feed the baby the jewish mother moshe's mother and we'll get to who she is in a few moments after a couple years brings him back to the palace to have a jewish boy raised in hitler's palace are you kidding me these are questions and if you actually read the torah if you read this in english you've got to be asking yourself the question what's that all about and i know the movie you watch it and you sit there and it all makes sense to you well my dear friends that's one of my before i'm here to entertain you with the truth and how to understand the torah first and foremost let's talk about the parents who is moshe's parents later on in the torah tells us identifies that moshe's dead was amram amram was the leader of the jewish people from the tribe of levy from retrieval of levi he was it he was like the big rabbi he was like the abraham isaac and jacob of that generation his wife jochebed was one of the most righteous women of the jewish people which begs the question even more if you're so righteous why would you take your son from your home where you can raise your boy in judaism why would you even bring him to the palace and let pharaoh's daughter take care of it the answer is my dear friend is that the truth of the matter is we must go and read the hebrew we must read the true words the way it's written in the hebrew no jewish mother would take a baby and chuck it into the river of course not she wasn't one of these people who's going to go and say c'est la vie i hope my baby is going to have a goal of a travel and be able to find its way to a nice place it's not the way it's going to be so this is what she was thinking i know the star gazers know they're waiting for the savior to be born so what they're looking for is in the sky is that boy in the river is he in the river they're constantly looking moshe was born three months premature at the beginning of the seventh month of the pregnancy you see the egyptians used to go to people women who were pregnant and they measured the stomach and said uh-huh you're four months pregnant we're going to see you in five months from now you're six months pregnant we'll see you in three months from now and she was she couldn't hide the baby anymore the baby was born premature they're going to come looking for him what to do what to do so she came up with a phenomenal idea i would never chuck the baby into the river and she's not nuts the hebrew says is place the basket out higher oil right on the beachfront right near the where the water hits the sand right let the babies basket be on the water not out there because if it goes out there it's going to drown but maybe the stargazers will see that this great boy will be the boy that is supposed to go and say the savior's in the water maybe they'll go away to stargaze and say to pharaoh said the baby's in the water he's dead no more worries now how did she know that he was that special boy what was so special about this boy when he was born so if you look at what it says in in the words itself it says when he was born they saw that he was of good and meaning there was light in the home in fact did you know because he was good ten names were given to him now remember it was pharaoh's daughter years later they called him moshe moses what was his name for the first few years he had ten different names ten names to describe his greatness and his holiness in fact many of you don't even know that there are ten names but just to give you a few of them one name was called this denotes that he was the one that brought closer the father in heaven to the jewish people he was called he was called and other names ten names in total nickname people around gave names to this special boy but she couldn't hide him anymore so she put him on to the right by the seashore so that the water should hit the basket in the meantime at the same time divine providence has is that pharaoh's daughter is going down to take a bath now what is she going down there for simple pharaoh's daughter was a very very holy girl she did not like the way of her father's with many teenagers they look at the way mommy and daddy's acting they don't like it they kind of rebel she wanted to know what is it about the jewish people that my dad does not like and the more she looked into the jewish people and to the heritage of the culture she said i wanted to be that the tsar tells us and other majors and tell us and great great explanations that moses gave to us moshe gave to us from sinai is is that bhatya that was her name bhatya the daughter of god she was converting to judaism when you convert the final thing is you have to go to a mikvah you have to go to a body of water a pool would not do it she didn't want to go out to the beaches of you know alexandria she wanted to go to a private place divine providence had it that she was brought together to where moshe was she sees this basket in the reeds right near the right there by the beach right near the end she grabs it she brings it to her and she says it's from the jewish people she has unbelievable compassion mary emotions sister goes and says wow who is this girl after speaking to her she recognizes that this girl is here to convert your judaism she was telling her all about the jewish people how much he loves the jewish people so she says can i go get the mother so you can all of a sudden your heaven moshe's mother comes nurses moshe and one more thing you have to know is that there was a prophecy that the savior of the jewish people the way he was going to go and overthrow the king was he's going to actually be somebody who was going to be living in the castle now it made sense it says i get it now i get it you are a religious girl you are somebody who converted to judaism i could trust you my son is a holy boy he will grow up because he's destined to be someone special god willing he will grow up to be that great moshe now the entire story makes sense no mother would chuck a baby into the nile no daughter of hitler would go and save a child but if she's converting to judaism now we can understand why the great amram and yochava these great stalwarts of the jewish people that kept the jewish people's identity strong as much as they could while they were alive in egypt raised a child in a beautiful jewish environment and that's how the great moshe was able to grow up with the love and understanding of who the jewish people were and as we learned later on in the torah his love for the jewish people grew stronger and stronger and could not stand when there was any injustice that was happening to the jewish people if you liked that video hit the subscribe button and notification bell below for hours of the best jewish content online
