The Rarest Living PokeDex of All Time

hey pokemon masters bird keeper toby here and the pokedex the encyclopedia for all pokemon knowledge you know that's being filled out by children and then barely being fact-checked by the professors i mean rhyhorn running until just until it falls asleep come on the pokedex is clearly very questionable but that doesn't matter to your pokemon trainer and your job is to go out into the pokemon world and complete the pokedex catch all 151 892. pokemon you want to make a complete pokemon database and now thanks to the magic of pokemon home we can make it happen we can have and store a living pokedex filled with pokemon and i've done it but not just a living pokedex in fact i have i think the most hardcore pokedex in existence is yours gonna be better than mine find [Music] out so yeah my pokedex for those of you who might not be super familiar hi i'm bird keeper toby i'm a pokemon fan just like you and i you know i was brought up with that tagline gotta catch em all and in 2015 when pokemon x and y came out i finally achieved that goal i had every single pokemon not just like having seen one of every pokemon registered in the pokedex no i actually had one of every single pokemon vulvasaur either saw venusaur charmander in its evolutionary line squirtle same thing right the way through all the way to zygarde i had every pokemon you could catch stored in pokemon bank and this is what's called a living dex a pokedex that consists of one of every single pokemon and at the time i thought it was really cool specifically because my lugia for my living decks had come from pokemon gale of darkness and i i gotta think that across the whole pokemon franchise that's like the coolest lugia there is and my mana fee had come from pokemon ranger another spin-off game and you know i knew there was that holo at the end of pokemon colosseum but i didn't have that horo maybe i should get that ho-oh and actually all of my kalos pokemon were from kalos obviously i caught them in pokemon x and y but not all of my younova pokemon had come from unova some of them had come from kalos i'd had to pick them up after the fact what if pokemon came from their native regions and thus the pokemon master next challenge was born i have done several videos on this challenge and as the regions have continued the challenge has grown and the idea behind it is simple to have the most complete pokedex possible with every single form and gender variant with each pokemon coming from its region of origin all of the event pokemon sourced in the various ways event pokemon can be sourced and any pokemon that can be caught in a spin-off game like the lugia or the ho-oh from the gamecube games whatever the hardest pokemon from that game is to catch that's got to be the thing in the pokedex in order to complete the challenge you have had to have played or at least traded with the entire pokemon library of games including basically any spin-off that connects to them and as of this moment in 2020 i have finally completed the living pokedex for now because obviously the crown 100 elc is coming up for me and uh there's new pokemon in that that i'm gonna have to catch as well as new regional variants but we'll get to that i wanted to show you off the pokedex tell you about any specific challenging pokemon if you want to go after them that i think are the hardest of the hard to get give you any tips and advice i've got and if you're interested in this challenge we've got a whole document over on the discord server on the discord dot gg4 keeper toby um the community mystical man joe x happy face squirrel every everyone's been so so supportive coming together helping each other out i'm definitely getting some names um people have been taking on this challenge some people have managed to complete it as well i think i'm the third person to finish it and it's my own challenge and if you're interested i'll leave links below to where you can check out the spreadsheet and check out the chat but here we go this is my pokemon home uh master deck super challenge for now and the first thing i can show you very very clearly is as you can see all the pokemon in this first box they have all come from the kanto region and you can see there's a little game boy symbol next to the pokemon this is because they've all come from virtual console pokemon red blue or yellow it's that version of kanto not leaf green not fire red not let's go this is the original way that these pokemon were intended to be caught and so i decided to have them as part of the pokedex within this format all of the first 151 pokemon are just like this all the way from bulbasaur through to mu okay it's a pretty extensive pokedex but you might notice hang on that dratini is shiny you got me this dratini is one of the special requirement pokemon and the way that you get hold of the stratini is from playing pokemon white two versions specifically getting to the end of the game and it's kind of a gift for completing the white tree hollow it's actually one of the ones i've been the most after this year because i just didn't have play through y2 for the longest time the gyarados is the red gyarados from the lake of rage actually the final pokemon to enter this pokedex is this tentacle and you might think what's special about this tentacle it's from the kanto region that's wrong hang on i'll put up an image of the correct tentacle i don't know why that tends cool's there sorry i've got the correct tentacle hold on a second i just take it back to the beginning 150 armor to see to be up oh there is this tentacle is from the jose region what's special about this tentacle well this year it was discovered that if you are stuck in sionwood city with only one pokemon on your team and none in your boxes there's a kid in seattle city who will just give you a tentacle it's kind of a special event pokemon with special requirements to get it and so i thought it would be a fun and interesting part of this challenge you have to get this tentacle from hot gold soul silver specifically through that method it's really cool that obscure pokemon like that are still being discovered and if i find any more i'll be adding them to the challenge and again follow along the discord for that anyway kanto region generally speaking you're mostly looking at the virtual console i'm not going through every single individual rule again for that there's the google sheets if you want to have a look i guess with gen 1 there's not too many difficult pokemon but i guess the most frustrating is probably porygon getting a porygon from virtual consol kanto is such a pain because you have to win at the slot machines in the celadon game corner to get the porygon and you have to have the most amount of coins possible however you can buy game corner coins and i strongly recommend i think it's much quicker to just run the pokemon league over and over and over again and buy the coins with money i promise you this is going to save you so much time and in fact you might even want to get hold of an extra two porygon because later on in this pokedex i stipulate that with like porygon 2 and porygon z for example despite the fact that they're johto and sinnoh pokemon they also must come from virtual console kanto because that's where the base evolution originates from which means you have to get three porygon in generation one so again running the pokemon league over and over again and just accumulating money another option and it's kind of a loophole but this will help you with fossil pokemon it'll help you with eevee a lot of pokemon are rare to get in generation one if you have a second 3ds and you can trade them to virtual console johto you can breed them there hatch the eggs and send the eggs back to virtual console kanto and then when you transfer it up to pokemon bank it'll still read from kanto despite the fact it hatched in johto then we move on to the johto pokemon and of course you're looking at the entire johto pokedex all coming from virtual console johto again there's certain exceptions to the rule there's certain pokemon that are particularly interesting like ho-oh and lugia coming from the gamecube games and in particular i cannot stress how difficult riko and entei are to get in the virtual console games they flee constantly they are just they're just impossible i wouldn't usually recommend this but if you need to use your master ball on anything in this challenge it's the reiko and entei from virtual console gold silver and crystal they are just so frustrating to get hold of and you'll just save so much time just throw your master ball on them i promise you it's not good for anything else when it comes to the hoenn region all of these pokemon have come from um ruby sapphire and emerald so not omega ruby not alpha sapphire and you can see because usually they'd have like a little icon up at the top just like the virtual console ones did if it came from more ass but these these have all come from just regular ruby sapphire and emerald and probably the hardest pokemon to get hold of is fibas from ruby sapphire and emerald um just be patient that that's it just you've got to be really patient oh and actually weirdly snow run snow run is horrible to get hold of and the reason why is because most copies of ruby sapphire and emerald the internal battery has run dry meaning the clock doesn't work properly in the game and you need the clock to work properly for shoal caves timings to allow you to go to the ice room where you can catch snow run so you need to make sure to set your timing at the beginning of your run through otherwise it's just such a pain shawl cave is so late in the game so yeah look out for snow run all of these cino pokemon of course they have come from pokemon diamond pearl and platinum version the original sinner region so even if cinder remakes come out next year this is still the correct thing that i want to do however with most of these later pokemon again their evolutions are past generations so maybe just hatch a few extra eggs calculate for how many you're going to need to catch like how many magnemites are you actually going to need from virtual console rebel and yellow it's three because magnemite magneton and magnazone unova are all from the unova region obviously they've come from black and white black and white too one of the cool stipulations that i put in there is that you need to have all of the n memory pokemon it's quite a fun little hunt but not too challenging the only thing i would say is that you cannot get a zorro arc in pokemon black and white one or two you can only get a zarua in pokemon black too so make sure to breed it and yeah you know all the theory and forms they came from the dream radar game there's there's lots there to be interested in again i'm not gonna go through all the specific rules just general tips uh kalos is pretty easy actually there's not a single pokemon in chaos that you really have to go out of your way to get hold of then of course we have the alola regions where i'd say that the hardest you know most inaccessible pokemon is probably mourinho and toxopax because you have to sos chain with corsola but again a little bit of patience you'll totally get it oh although actually the new rules do stipulate that in order for certain pokemon like mimikyu and selazal pokemon appear as totem pokemon in sun and moon and ultrasound notre moon these need to be the totem versions that you get given by i think it's samson oak gives them to you for collecting the totem stickers around the region so again follow a guide and you'll find them all melt animal metal from pokemon go it's getting easier by the day to get mel metal from pokemon go and then we're on to the gala region where again something exceptionally hard here these pokemon are accessible you might just have to do a few extra trades to get a kubfu and an urshifu and to get all of the forms of those pokemon because then we move on to the form decks all of these are known are from virtual console gold silver and crystal every single form yeah that's part of this pokedex 2. that doesn't include the exclamation mark and question mark which have come from leaf green and fire red because that's the first region that they appear in we've got our deoxys they've all come from auras which means multiple run-throughs of auras or use the gts or trade with people who aren't interested in this kind of pokedex all of the sinnoh pokemon are from sinnoh all the unova forms are from unova all of the uh well all of the kalos formed pokemon specifically when we look at vivalon uh all of my ones came from kalos because i was sensible enough to try and catch them at that time when x and y were the latest games now in order to do that it's actually quite difficult to get them all from kalos uh in fact if you have all of your vivalon from kalos it's i i award what's called the gold star which on top of the complete pokedex you can get gold stars i think i put in place about 12 of them and i think i have about six of them because they are exceptionally hard collections or individual pokemon to get like the munchlax from the honey tree and sinnoh if you get a munchlax that way it's a gold star the way that i got my manchester from sinnoh was by sending a snorlax from fire red leaf green to the sinnoh games and breeding it there was no way i had the patience for the honey tree if you've got that gold star all of your callus forms are from callus all of the alola forms are from alola um obviously you've got all of the alolan regional variants again they're all from alola apart from exeggutor raichu and marowak as you can see they've got the little virtual console logo because again they've come from virtual console red blue or yellow because it's just like it's just like a new evolution for those pokemon and it makes it i think a little bit more interesting a little bit more flavoursome we've got all of our galiform pokemon and actually i should have mentioned back in the gala part of the pokedex mr rhyme here is actually from the sinnoh region because i traded up or actually i did a trade with with one of you thankfully uh to get a mind junior to my gala games that have come from the sinnoh region and then evolved it up into a galarium mr mime and then mr rhyme we've got the alchemy that took a lot of time a lot of forward thinking forward planning how many of each item are you going to need trading with people for the items that they have double of um all of the gender variants of pokemon now with the gender variants i'm a little bit more lacks all of them need to come from their native region but they don't need to come from specifically the first iteration of the game so all of these kanto pokemon they could come from virtual console or let's go or fire and leaf green jojo pokemon same deal virtual console or hot golds or silver hoe and pokemon can come from anywhere uh torchic is probably the getting the gender variants of torchic combustion and blaziken is the hardest thing because obviously you can only get one starter per game but on top of that when you breed a male to female racial ratio for starter pokemon it's 75 male making it just it's very time consuming and again if you have a friend who can help you out with trading and go for it you get your sino forms your nova forms gala and kalos forms uh and then finally at the end here all of the pokemon that would otherwise be shiny in the main decks uh like the nature preserve uh haxorus i've just got an extra hatress an extra gyarados red gyarados and the tritinian grip gibble from black and white too just to kind of like you know flesh out the pokedex i'm just trying to make sure i've got a very complete pokedex and right now i'm doing the very same thing with pokemon that can gigantomax so i've given g-max soup to all of these pokemon but they've come from the kanto region apart from the very special let's go pikachu and eevee pikachu and eevee and yes both forms of urshifu in addition to the ones that i have in my pokedex and they can both gigantanax so yeah it's a pretty filled out pokedex on top of that i've got a couple of extra gold star pokemon like latias and latios that have both come from the original versions of hohen but specifically from the southern ireland eon ticket event manafee from pokemon ranger as well as fiona that's been bedford from it a couple of other event pokemon generally this challenge is hard and i know you might be thinking hang on toby i didn't see zeroed in there uh you didn't see zeroed i don't i don't have it yet it's not out officially as i'm recording this video and yeah after this there's the crown tundra we've got calorics we've got regional variants of other pokemon it's gonna be a lot to catch them all i'm sure that if there's scenario remakes they'll bring new gigantomax forms and i'm sure that if there's games after that there'll be a whole new region with more pokemon i'm gonna keep trying to complete this pokedex as much as possible and keeping it as fleshed out as i possibly can why because i'm bored and i did the living dex and now there's this and now i've done this i guess i need a bit of a new challenge i suppose i could try and do the same thing again but with all shiny pokemon i don't have the patience for that anyway this is just my video really to say i've done it if you'd like to see a video about
