The Petersens' Second Live Concert
[or skip to 0:11] Starting in... 3 2 1 [Matt] Hi everyone, we're excited
to be going live again on YouTube. We had so much encouragement
and support from everyone on our last live, so we had to do it again.
So thank you again for that. We're gonna start off with a song
that is really special to our family. One, because it's over
a hundred years old. And, also, our mother wrote this song.
[not really] I hope you enjoy it, it's the title track of
our bluegrass album that came out in 2017, one called ‘Shenandoah’. SHENANDOAH

featuring our sister who plays the banjo for us [Ellen]. She's had a great year already,
she got married in January. So that's already her breaking
a lot of banjo player expectations. So we're really supportive
and excited for her. She went to College of the Ozarks here in Branson,
and has a degree in chemistry. And she also went to Missouri State and got a degree,
an MBA, with an emphasis in marketing. So she runs all those aspects for our group
and does a great job with that, singing and playing the banjo,
and every once in a while she yodels. But that's not gonna happen today,
so please stay, please stay on the live right now. We're gonna have her sing one of my favorite songs
right now, this is this one called ‘Blue’. BLUE

I know that the
Get It Mama Fan Club right now is going crazy for our mother's
bass solo she had in that so, hope you enjoyed that feature. She does a lot of great work like that throughout
our performances, if you ever catch it live. Anyways, we're gonna move along and have
our youngest sister sing a song for you. A lot of comments on the last live
referred to her as ‘little cookie’, and so thank you guys
for giving her that nickname. That is not going to stick,
and so that can end now. But anyways, she did graduate as valedictorian
of her class, and so we're really proud of her. She's been our mandolin player
for a few years now. And before she was our full time
mandolin player, she played the fiddle, and mom actually did our mandolin work.
But we do have our re-auditions every February, and so mom and Julz battled it out,
and Julianne won the last few years in a row. So we're really proud of Julianne.
And sorry about that, mom. You guys think mom's doing a good job back there?
Type, type, type. Okay, anyways.
Can't hide, mom. We're gonna have Julianne sing a song.
This was kind of her first breakout song. It’s a Sting one,

have asked our family how we got started
playing music together. We grew up with our dad
being in the Air Force, and he did that for about 23 years
before he retired. And throughout the years, our parents
were always looking for different activities that we could all do together,
and enjoyed doing, just as family projects,
or activities or hobbies. One summer we ended up
at our very first Bluegrass Festival, it was over in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. We hung out there for a few days,
met some other family bands. My mom and dad got to talking
with the other families there, and actually decided at that festival
that we would also become a family bluegrass band. So they bought us all instruments
and we started practicing quite a bit. And never planned on performing
in front of other people, but we are just so thankful and excited
that God has bigger plans than we do. Because this is definitely what
we love to do, and feel called to do. And that's kind of our story
with how we got started with music. Before we picked up our bluegrass instruments,
we were learning how to sing harmonies together, so we're gonna go ahead and
sing an a capella song for you next. This is one I enjoy,

that since everything's kind of shut down, and we've all had to quarantine,
we've been practicing a lot together. And that means that Emmett, over there,
pretty much spends most of his time with us. And he doesn't really get to interact
with other people to kind of balance it out, so we're really thankful for him.
He's a fantastic musician, as you guys all know, and a great friend of ours. So thank you so much
for sticking it out with us throughout all of this. We are also gonna send a big thank you
