laughs I could live here 100 I could live here in  Singapore there's only one minor just you   know Minor Detail stopping me which is that I'm  not a millionaire yet keyword yet but welcome   welcome to the beautiful city of Singapore guys  city slash country of Singapore for those of you   who don't know uh Singapore is quite similar I  guess you could say to other places like Monaco   and the Vatican that are more or less city-state  countries but what I actually didn't know uh until   I came here is that Singapore is not just one  Island it is actually 64 islands of course the   main one that I'm currently on is the biggest but  in the surrounding area there's quite a few of   little islands that are also a part of Singapore  and that are usually used for like park or Resort   sort of experiences Singapore was actually a part  of Malaysia until 1965 but then they decided to   break up because of Economic and political sort  of differences and ever since then Singapore   has definitely become a global Finance Social Hub  obviously things are quite expensive and I read a   statistic that one in six people who live here are  a millionaire so it's understandable that my cafe   latte this morning cost eight eight Singaporean  dollars which actually translates exact to   Canadian dollars so eight Canadian dollars uh for  my latte this morning but I knew to expect that uh   before coming here I think most people know that  Singapore is going to be expensive and you just   have to budget for that so I hope you guys will  find this video helpful when planning your trip   to Singapore and maybe you will be like me and  want to move here as quickly as possible so let's   begin our exploration of Singapore in the most  famous area which is of course marina-based Sands   the Esplanade Theaters by the bay coming to this  area day or night is a really lovely experience   because it is super walkable really Scenic lots  of things to see and do and I especially want to   give a shout out to theaters by the bay because  I didn't find out until the end of my trip that   this is actually a not-for-profit art center where  70 percent of the performances are free if I would   have known this at the start of my trip I would  have definitely gone to a show or two so passing   on the knowledge to you guys so hopefully you can  make use of this amazing Center when you visit   Singapore now walking down the Esplanade towards  downtown we start getting into the business center   and where a lot of luxury hotels are I was really  impressed with the architecture of this area since   you did have a mix of more classic buildings and  really Modern Skyscrapers it is very true when   people say that Singapore is an extremely clean  city outside of Tokyo I don't think I've ever   seen any other cities that come up to this level  because there are pretty harsh rules for littering   I think it's like a 300 dollar fine as well as  a few weeks of community service picking up any   kind of trash in general you should know before  coming to Singapore that they take breaking any   sort of laws very seriously here and there  are very harsh punishments for misbehavior   especially the more serious kinds so you really  got to be on your best behavior in Singapore   all right guys today we are starting off the day  with some breakfast at one of my favorite places   so far that I have been to this place is called  Henry Bistro and usually they're known for their   French food for lunch and dinner they also have  a lot of great options but they do have all day   breakfast as well and really good coffee  really good French pastries so I decided   to get the avocado toast as I do a black  coffee and some water I'll show you guys   how much I paid at the end but just consider  that this is a reasonably priced restaurant   well look at that the sun has come out now  it really is the perfect City for me because   I will say if I did actually live here uh I  would only want to be here at certain times   of the year because the whole monsoon season  that they got going on here in Asia not for me   it's like Vancouver 2.0 even more intense and  I am not a rain person so now I really want to   take you guys to another favorite uh that I have  here in the city which is the Botanical Gardens   these are truly some of the most stunning  Gardens I have seen in my life and lucky   for all of us they're free I think they do  sometimes have some exhibits that you do have   to pay for to get in but the gardens themselves  alongside many of the other parks in Singapore   are free but since we are a ways away from  them uh we're actually going to jump on the   subway line the downtown line and it's going  to take about 30 to 40 minutes to get there oh thank you all right guys so you know how I was saying  that coming to the botanical gardens is a   hundred percent worth it even if you just come to  the free part well it still obviously is but if   you were going to spend a little bit of money  on something extra I would highly recommend   the National Orchid Garden it's a little bit  expensive if you are a foreign adult it was like   15 Singaporean dollars but if you were a senior or  a student it goes down to three and five dollars   respectively so I guess there are benefits uh to  getting old but this is just a super beautiful   place and the orchids that they have here are  absolutely stunning so definitely check it out thank you thank you now if you asked me what is my favorite  area of Singapore at least so far I would   actually have to say that it is the area  that I chose to stay in even before really   knowing that much about it which is kampong  Glam so this is a very artsy very boho sort   of area lots of young people here and I  just really love it because there's all   these really cute colorful streets all over the  place there's such a selection of like bars and   restaurants and there's an emphasis on like  Middle Eastern uh restaurants a lot of like   Turkish and Lebanese places because this  was a very important area for the Muslim   population here in Singapore so if you wanted  my recommendation of like what is my favorite   place or would I recommend others to stay if  you have similar taste to me I would say here thank you down all inside me now outside of kampong Glam to other neighborhoods  that I would really recommend you guys check out   let's start with Little India absolutely  fabulous this is actually a really great   Central neighborhood to stay in if you were on  a budget the accommodation tends to be a little   bit less than some of the other Central areas the  food and shopping is also relatively inexpensive   and in general it's just a really beautiful  cultural area so I would really recommend   paying a visit to Little India the next area  that's an absolute must is Chinatown this was   actually one of my favorite chinatowns that  I have ever been to and they are especially   renowned for their Hawker centers all right  guys we are coming up to one of the most famous   Hawker food courts and all of Singapore  which is called the Maxwell Center   and I had a friend who's from here really  recommend this place so let's see what we can find all right guys first things first I got some  delicious fresh mango and passion fruit juice   which was only four dollars and most of  their other juices are only two this is a   hundred percent the kind of area to go to if  you want to do Singapore on a budget I would   honestly be fine with eating at these kinds  of places for every meal the only meal that   I'm very particular about is breakfast I really  don't enjoy having like rice or noodles you know   for breakfast I'm just not used to that which is  quite common and you know a lot of Asian countries   so I think probably what's going to end  up happening is I'm going to be paying a   lot of money for breakfast and then lunch and  dinner I'm gonna do on a budget so this place   looks extremely popular and I think that's  kind of what you got to do at these places   is go where the locals go and most likely  if there's a line that means it's good the famous chicken rice dish uh that Anthony  Bourdain says is fabulous so let's give it   a try so I have had chicken rice before  and I mean it is more or less what it's   it's chicken it's rice there's a bit  of a sauce on it and then you get some   kind of extra spicy sauce on the  side so let me try it just as is now let's try with the sauce  I feel like it needs like a   bit more of a Punchy flavor this is with the sauce that was too much of a punch was way too  much of a punch guys oh my eyes are watering   should have stuck to white  person Bland oh my God yeah so um but it's very good like it's very fresh the  chicken itself is super tender really tasty   so all together my meal was 10 Singaporean dollars  10 Canadian dollars which makes it about seven us   it's extremely reasonable considering the price  that everything else in the city costs so if   you're looking for great delicious budget-friendly  meals in Singapore check out the Hawker centers foreign so the sunset is going to begin in just  about an hour my friends and I thought   it would be fitting to take you to the very  famous Marina Bay Sands if you've ever seen   anything about Singapore you've probably seen  this ridiculously amazing luxury hotel that has   a phenomenal infinity pool now unfortunately  you can't go to the said infinity pool unless   you're actually staying there and as you  can assume the rooms are pretty pricey and   the bottom of Marina Bay Sands is actually a  stunning luxury shopping mall so while we're   waiting for the sunset let me actually show  you guys the mall because it is amazing foreign foreign foreign so as you guys can see we are at the famous  gardens by the bay this is a hundred percent   one of the most amazing landmarks here in  Singapore where every night they have this   incredible light show of these man-made lake trees  and it's free to watch like anybody can come here   and as long as you stay in the lower part uh it  is free but uh as you can see behind me there   is a line where you do pay a bit to be able to go  up to the platforms and see the show from the top thank you that was incredible after traveling so much and  seeing so many incredible places many times that   you know my jaw was on the floor and just stunned  by the beauty of this world and the good things   that humans made but being here in Singapore it  has been on another level for me I don't know   what it is about this place but I just feel  so good when I am here and I'm just amazed   by the incredible things that they have here like  especially built to make people's quality of life   really good I'm sure it has its problems obviously  I haven't spent enough time here to really give a   thorough analysis but as a first time traveler I  will say that I am incredibly impressed this is   definitely you know in my top two now in my top  two favorite cities in the whole world which is   Tokyo and now Singapore but if you guys get the  chance I really recommend you come check it out   it absolutely is worth the high-end price and  I don't say that a lot there's not actually   many cities in my opinion that I would say are  worth ridiculously high prices but this one is   so I hope you guys enjoyed this video and found it  helpful let me know your thoughts in the comments   I wish I had more time here but unfortunately and  I guess fortunately because I am going to Japan   next I will be leaving soon but stay tuned because  the next video that I'm going to do is this place   just went out the next video that I'm planning  to do is spending 24 hours in the incredible   airport that they have here it's supposed to  be the best airport in the world so that will   be my next video hope you guys are excited and  as always I'm sending you so much love I hope   you're having a fantastic day and keep being  your own kind of beautiful bye guys thank you
