Pete making his debut on the chase not really making his debut yeah I'm just trying to find a link I was trying to run a link right to these new black star debut 50 amplifiers debut what it's what does this debut mean it's a series isn't it from black star of kind of a you know simple affordable usable amplifiers so begin you are debuting into the world of guitar ramps so these are 50 what Fifth and it's a good 50 Watts right very very simple two channel amplifiers so a clean Channel a 30 channel uh you've got a little bit of EQ including black stars ISF infinite in shape feature function function featuring function you get two F's for the price of one uh Reverb built in your choice of plate or whole Reverb uh effects Loop headphone out auxiliary in little kind of compact is it 112 right um and under 200 pounds it's another 200 pounds 100 200 pounds all right uh your choice of color the insides of the amplifiers are the same so this one isn't slightly sort of creamier this one isn't slightly darker other than visually um you want to take us through some tones would you love to Epiphone Les Paul which I should also mention is the 1959 in lemon burst which is from the anderton's team okay so we're going to start here on our clean channel in the non-brite mode [Music] is typically a darker sounding guitar than um say a stratty style so uh if we press the brightness switch in [Music] I'm in the middle position here as well just in case you wondered Stuck In The Middle With You [Music] that's the Riff by the way now black star described that the debut amp has a really great little combo if you want to start using um pedals like in that introduction to sort of pedal world yeah so it's an all analog preamp circuit okay so no digital modeling in this uh it's a Class D power section um I'm sure at some point or other there'll be videos comparing this to uh boss Katana that's one of the big difference there because uh boss uses a a b power section into my plane Channel now I I've decided to just put some tone City pedals on the floor here Pete's got his 10 000 pound pedalboard in front of him um I'm not sure how many people will have that pedalboard into this amp but I'm sure lots of you will have affordable pedals like tone City so a little Blues Man from tone City just oh [Music] [Music] please man it's great it's one of those pedals that works on over clean or overdrive channels yeah um you could go something slightly high again I haven't I haven't got anything mental on the floor here but the nobleman's got a bit of gas [Music] [Music] that's our clean channel it's probably uh I can probably demo the EQ actually on the clean Channel yeah so we've got whilst Pete's playing I'll just fiddle fiddle I'm gonna go into the middle position okay [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you what happened there with the base when you turn all the way off and then it's like you turn all the bass off and like 80 of the signal disappears don't you but it's a pretty simple EQ there's no real rules for the EQ it's just you know dial it into taste you'll have different guitars and different pedals and different tones you're trying to get where different EQ settings will be uh the better what you'll like exactly so jumping over to the overdrive Channel which you can buy an optional extra foot switch to go with this to do the channel switch but or you can just press the button on top so again we've only got uh we've got one type of overdrive okay um but we've got then a gain and a volume control and of course all the EQ again so here is my have I got any pedals on no so here is a low gain you know overdrive setting [Music] all right that sounds great yeah ISF might actually be easier to hear on the game show okay because ISF if I isfer if I remember going right back to the early days was it kind of like did it had like a more American Gainey sound yeah one into the Spectrum and a more British sort of gaining at the other so here's all the way off [Music] all right [Music] [Music] so yeah you can definitely hear further down has more mid-range and less bass end which is perhaps a more British sound and all the way up is more base and less mid-range which perhaps might be a bit more American sounding absolutely um all right [Music] foreign with a pedal I might stomp on a spark or a blues man here we go blue crystal Echo here which is going through the effect blue crystal let's go again and see where that goes all again no pain thank you foreign [Music] I kind of changed the EQ to make it a bit more modern sounding there um it's hard to show you on YouTube just how loud something will go um but trust me when we were mucking around with this earlier on it's definitely you know 50. it's a you know it's a great little kind of First Time band type amplifier for a small band but what it does have is a five watt mode so if you really want to use this predominantly assume that and you're a bit worried that 50 watts is too much here's here's the sort of difference here's 50 Watts [Music] thank you [Music] it's fine man I think I think we need to try to shoot it out against the the katana just to see where it is because it's difficult to hear anyway there's lots and lots of amplifiers that you can buy in this kind of price range um did I mention the price on this earlier in the video 200 quid yeah I did I did did I say under 200 pounds so it's good there's going to be maybe uh 40 50 pound price difference between this and boss Katana okay quite a you know it's a reasonable chunk of dough boss Katana will have a few effects built into it that this one doesn't have but if you prefer you know if you're really looking for something as simple as possible and for the best prices possible debut 50 uh scores well on that front and the effect and again effective is cool and it's not digital modeling so again there's all you know there are always two kinds of customer for this thing there's the one that you know likes the idea of having the Bluetooth app and connecting it to his computer or her computer or whatever and seeing what it can do but I think there's always there's another guitar that just prefers the Simplicity and also I think the tone at this price point is typically better on analog amplifiers but yeah so what you lose in functionality we think you sort of gain in tone um but there you are debut 50. they look cool yeah absolutely are we going to sign out with little band jam with these well we could do we could do couldn't we well thank you very much for joining us and
