The Orient Mako 3 May have a HUGE Problem

this is the Mako three in I don't know all of Earth Tone champagne colors so sit down grab a cup of coffee and let's talk about the Mako three I've been looking forward to this one [Music] this is my Mako 2 on an Autumn strap that's right 150 watch on a 150 bracelet people give me a little bit of Guff about that but hey the watch is actually really really good the head but the strap the band The Bracelet not so good is the Mako 3's better oh yeah kind of if you are a fan of Orient watches you know that they are a huge value when it comes to Affordable divers in some ways Orient has surpassed its bigger brother Seiko if you don't know Orient is owned by Epson which is owned by Seiko so they're all kind of together this has an in-house movement but let's not get into the specs just yet let's talk about the specs foreign I purchased this from the Orient website you can get 10 off your order but Mark from Long Island watch also sells these and if I would have known that I would have purchased it from Mark why because I like him he's a good guy so this comes in at three hundred and forty dollars minus thirty four dollars is 306 dollars bit pricey compared to the Mako 2 but you're getting better specifications this comes in one two three four colorways so you get black with I don't know gold or guilt accents guilt hands guilt date periphery I don't know border comes in red which is pretty cool I almost pulled the trigger on this one it has silver hands silver border around the day date they call this ivory to me Ivory is white this is champagne green bezel khaki 15 minute track here the reason why I got this one is because from the pictures it looks like the hands are black it looks like the seconds hand is black with an orange tip and it looks like the border of the day date is black however it's not it still looks dark though it still looks pretty cool so I had Visions in my head of this on a green NATO or khaki NATO that's still gonna happen but I bought one didn't work out I bought a 22 millimeter which is what the lug with this they sent me a 24 millimeter in a 22 millimeter bag I guess that's what I get for buying cheap canvas straps comes with an in-house caliber F6 922 automatic hand winding hacking as a power reserve of approximately 40 hours has a day-date luminous hour markers and hands sapphire crystals so that's a big difference from the Mako two this does not have a sapphire crystal however I have worn this quite a bit and I still don't have a scratch on it dial color again they say Ivory we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one Orient stainless steel case material case diameter 41.8 millimeters lug to Lug a very wearable 46.8 millimeters case thickness and almost spelled 12.8 millimeters water resistance up to 200 meters screw down crown and this Crown is a lot bigger than this Crown which is one of my gripes about the Mako 2. 120 click uni-directional bezel stainless steel bracelet fold over clasp lug with 22 millimeters one year Orient one year warranty from Orient they're really standing behind this thing I'm just kidding a lot of people have a one year warranty let's talk about the dial foreign they say it's Ivory I have yet to see an elephant with this colored tusks and I have yet to see a piano with this color Keys bit of a Sunburst dial arabics of the 12 the 6 and the nine those are big reasons why I like the Mako series over something like the kamasu I love the Arabic numerals these are applied so they do sit up above the dial there is kind of pointy pointy small little fence posts at the fives at the three o'clock you have a day-date window which is separated in the day and the date which is pretty cool minute track around the exterior you have Japan made down on the left side of the six and something that I can't read because my eyes aren't nearly that good even with a macro lens I still have no idea what that says I'm sure it's something very important sword hands which is loomed Loom is okay I'll try to get a shot of it and the seconds hand is long with an orange tip which I really love goes all the way out to just ever so slightly kissing the minute track I really like the hands I think they're really well done the bezel thicker than the Mako 2. the Mako 2 kind of is almost a domed style of a bezel Mako 3 sits a lot taller is a lot thicker and if anything this is starting to look a bit more like Seiko like the skx the 5 series versus the Mako 2. Mako 2 seems to sit a little bit flatter hugs the wrist a little bit more Mako 3 is getting a little bit taller let's talk about the bracelet bracelet typical typical Orient bracelet I will however say that this one seems actually better than the Mako 3. where it meets up at the case these are fold over not solid end links however they do made up to the case a lot better than they did on my Mako 3. this was so good that I actually had to check to see if it was a hollow end link it is a hollow end link for whatever reason though this one just seems way more solid hardly any play in there which I'm really impressed with clasp typical Orient pressed whatever you call it stamped clasp it's fine you got four holes for micro adjustment I was able to get a very very good fit with the included bracelet if you notice though in the b-roll I have it on a mesh strap right now I'm currently obsessed with a mesh strap especially for 22 millimeters especially one that doesn't taper for whatever reason I think it just looks super cool and if you're looking at this watch the colorway reminds me just a bit of the no time to die titanium James Bond Omega Seamaster 300 meter professional it's a stretch I know but that has more brownish tones in it this one has a little bit brown tones in it anyway I wore this mostly on the mesh strap I did put it on a green NATO I don't like the way NATO's sit maybe I need a good NATO a more pliable NATO because it just felt like it was pooching out from the side of my wrist also try to put just a regular canvas strap on this even though this is green and gold I figured it would be at home on a green NATO but it wasn't my favorite I think it's the champagne dial that gives this a much more sophisticated look for whatever reason I didn't quite like it on a NATO strut but I'm going to give it a try on some more because I really like this watch I think this watch is borderline flawless I wish it was 250 dollars and not 340. probably gonna come down just like the Mako 2 did but right now you're probably not going to get it for less than 300 and that brings up an issue let's talk about that issue this is a glycine combat sub better bracelet arguably maybe better movement much better bezel action I think the combat sub is built better in really every way better bracelets Now The Styling is going to be significantly different than the Mako 3. so ultimately it's up to you I think the glycine is a better value if you don't like the glycine if you don't like the looks well then it doesn't matter but when I'm looking at these two from a pure comparison standpoint I think on paper the glycine walks all over the mako3 Swiss made better materials better quality Better Built but this thing sure does look good so what are my final thoughts foreign there's actually a skinnier case profile on the new mako 3 but the bezel on the Mako 3 sits up higher is more of a column in design versus the Mako 2. so this is quite different bezel action a lot better on the Mako 3 versus the Mako 2 there seems to be almost kind of like a dampening this seems like a Seiko bezel not nearly as tight not nearly as hard to turn as the Mako tube bezel feels like a significant step up or bezel movement slight back play but not too much lines up perfectly I think it's beautiful I think it's a bit of a step up from the Mako 2. especially the arabics Arabic seem to sit a lot higher the Orient logo also seems a little bit darker on this colorway the movement seems a little bit smoother than the Mako 2 when I'm winding it and the crown huge step up from the Mako 2 Mako 2 just seemed out of place super small this crown down seems about the appropriate size it's signed high polish all the good stuff case high polish but a little bit of a skinnier profile compared to the Mako 2. really good but we're starting to compete with the seikos of the world definitely competing with the glycines of the world so put it in the comments do you think the Mako 3 is getting outside of its lane or do you think it warrants the 340 retail price even though you're still not going to pay that you're going to pay around 300 for it I think it's a great watch I think the bracelet is typical and is going to come off very quickly I won't wear this on the bracelet but I do think the bracelet is a step up from the makeup too and as you can see obviously I love the bracelet on the Mako 2 a whole lot great watch you may think it's a little bit overpriced so if you want to support the channel you can sign up for my patreon links in the
