'LL KNOW FIRST, THIS IS FIRST ALERT WEATHER. LOOKS LIKE WE BETTER ENJOY TODAY BECAUSE TOMORROW WILL BE A FIRST ALERT WEATHER ALERT DAY. DO YOU DRINK CAFFEINE? I DO OKAY, GOOD. YOU'RE GOING TO NEED IT. AND I HAVE BEEN. I'M SURE YOU HAVE BEEN. YOU KNOW, MAN, IT WAS JUST KIND OF A LONG WEEKEND. AND IT'S FUNNY, THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS SEEMED LIKE THEY WERE SO QUIET WITH SEVERE WEATHER. AND THEN WHEN WE KIND OF CAUGHT UP, REALLY THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS, IT'S BEEN ACTIVE. AND LET ME TELL YOU WHAT WE'RE THINKING HERE FOR TOMORROW. SO TOMORROW IS AN ALERT DAY. THAT'S A CHANGE FROM IF YOU'RE WATCHING US AT NOON OR WATCHING THIS THIS MORNING. WE'RE MONITORING THE TIME BETWEEN 6 AND 10:00 IN THE EVENING TOMORROW. SO IT'S A HANDFUL OF HOURS FOR SCATTERED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. I'M GOING TO SHOW YOU WHAT AREA IS GOING TO BE UNDER THAT RISK. THE MAIN THREATS WILL BE WE'LL HAVE ENOUGH ENERGY IN THE ATMOSPHERE, ENOUGH INGREDIENTS FOR LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS. THOSE ARE THE TOP TWO THREATS THERE. ISOLATE. A TORNADO IS A POSSIBILITY, SO WE'LL BE MONITORING RADAR VERY CAREFULLY FOR YOU. AGAIN, WE COULD SEE SOME BIG HAIL OUT OF THESE STORMS AS THEY FLARE UP AND COULD SEE SOME STRONG WIND GUSTS COME OUT AS WELL. AND WE'RE MONITORING THAT TORNADO THREAT. SO JUST A REMINDER IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE IT YET, GO AHEAD AND DOWNLOAD OUR KMBC NINE NEWS APP. THAT WAY YOU CAN GET RADAR, YOU CAN GET ALERTS ON YOUR PHONE. IT'S REALLY A GREAT TOOL TO HAVE, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ACTIVE WEATHER RIGHT NOW. IT'S TOUGH TO BEAT THIS WEATHER THAT WE HAVE JUST A FEW CUMULUS CLOUDS. WE'RE AT 71 DEGREES. THE WIND IS NEARLY CALM, SO IT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE. 75 FOR INDEPENDENCE, 73 FOR LEE'S SUMMIT OVERLAND PARK AT 74, OLATHE 71 SHAWNEE AND PARKVILLE 73 DEGREES FOR BOTH OF YOUR AREAS. LOOKING AT THE BIGGER PICTURE, LOW 70S AND UPPER 60S, LOW LOTS OF SUN. SO GREAT WEATHER FOR RIGHT NOW. WE'RE GOING TO KEEP THIS QUIET WEATHER AROUND FOR THE EVENING, SO TRY TO ENJOY THE EVENING WEATHER OUT THERE. EVEN LATE THIS EVENING WILL STILL BE NEAR 60 DEGREES TOMORROW MORNING. HEADING OUT THE DOOR LOWER AND MIDDLE 50S. WE'LL HAVE A QUIET START TO OUR TUESDAY. THE WIND WILL INCREASE AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON. WE'LL HAVE A STRONG SOUTH WIND AND LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES HERE. WE'RE GOING TO GET INTO THE LOW 80S. SO TOMORROW IT'S GOING TO BE A WARMER DAY. IT'S GOING TO ALMOST FEEL A LITTLE SUMMER LIKE. AND THAT WILL SET THE STAGE FOR THUNDERSTORMS TO COME IN LATER IN THE DAY ON OUR TUESDAY. SO AGAIN. BETWEEN 6 AND 10 P.M., WE HAVE THE POSSIBILITY IF THOSE STORMS CAN FORM, THEY COULD HAVE LARGE HAIL, DAMAGING WIND AND THERE IS AN ISOLATED TORNADO THREAT THAT WILL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON FOR YOU. SO WHAT DOES THAT TIMELINE LOOK LIKE? MIDDAY? WE'RE FINE TOMORROW. SO SUNSHINE CLOSING IN ON 80 DEGREES GOING THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. I THINK WE'RE FINE AS WELL. BUT AS WE GET CLOSER TO 6 P.M., THAT'S WHEN STORMS WILL BEGIN TO DEVELOP. YOU SEE, THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE 6:00 TOMORROW EVENING. HEADING TOWARDS 8 P.M. MORE OF THOSE STORMS. HERE'S 9:00. AND IF RADAR LOOKS LIKE THIS COULD BE TALKING ABOUT SOME LARGE HAIL IN THOSE STORMS, ESPECIALLY AS THEY START TO DEVELOP, THERE COULD SEE SOME STRONGER WIND AS THE STORMS START TO COLLAPSE, AND DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH ROTATIONS OUT THERE COULD HAVE A TORNADO WARNING OR TWO. SO WE'LL BE MONITORING FOR THAT. THERE'S 9 P.M. AND THEN NOTICE HOW THEY WEAKEN AS THEY MOVE SOUTHWARD. SO I EVEN THOUGH I SHOWED YOU THAT LARGER AREA OF YELLOW, I WOULD SAY THE GREATER THREAT IS GOING TO BE IN FAR NORTHWESTERN MISSOURI, FAR NORTHEASTERN KANSAS, SCATTERED WEAKER THUNDERSTORMS FOR THE METRO TOMORROW, LATE EVENING INTO THE NIGHT. AND THEN WE COULD SEE THOSE STORMS PUSH RIGHT BACK IN AS WE HEAD INTO YOUR FRIDAY OR WEDNESDAY MORNING RATHER. BUT THOSE WOULDN'T BE SEVERE. SO YOUR DAY TOMORROW? MOST OF YOUR DAYTIME HOURS ARE DRY, LOW 80S. THERE'S THAT WEATHER ALERT STARTING AT 6 P.M. SO IF WE'RE EVENING PLANS, MAKE SURE YOU'VE GOT THAT EXTRA WAY TO GET THOSE ALERTS. SCATTERED STORMS FOR YOUR WEDNESDAY AND YOUR THURSDAY AS WELL. WE'LL BE KEEPING AN EYE ON THE SEVERE RISK. BOTH OF THOSE DAYS, AND WE'LL LET YOU KNOW IF WE NEED TO CHANGE THOSE TO ALERT DAYS. WE'RE DRY ON FRIDAY, ANOTHER STORM CHANCE ON SATURDAY, AND
