hello and welcome back to race gaming in a new Elden ring video today we're talking once more about remembrance weapons the boss weapons of Elder ring and how they stand in patch 1.09 with the patch of 1.09 though a lot of weapon types saw some really relevant Buffs and Nerfs and actually quite a few boss weapons were heavily affected even bringing them up in what I believe their ranking should be this weapon type used to be quite a dire one and you can tell because we have a d tier but honestly quite a few of them are doing very well now so let's talk about it we'll work our way from the bottom it's always starting with the only DT weapon remaining the winged Great Horn is technically better this patch as a great ax there's a very important change to this weapon type in terms of how the mechanics of it work with increased speed range and recovery time for various attacks and that's feeling really good when I was testing that with another boss weapon especially when one handing these attacks can come out pretty quick ultimately it's Ash of War which provides that debuff to those that stand in it making them weaker and take more damage is incredibly awkward to use holding you in place spreading out a very small Cloud very easy to avoid hard to land even in PVE in lots of circumstances ultimately I believe this weapon just doesn't have the power that it needs the ash of War needs some more relevant love perhaps if we could auto lock and spawn in the cloud on the Target or something of that nature but right now in its current form just is clunky and awkward to use so while this weapon type's better this weapon stays at the bottom moving up a tier from D finally though is the wonderful bastard Stars fail this is up to seat here now and I think it deserves at least that so weirdly in 1.08 they actually made fails better in terms of power stance giving it some very useful improvements there but they went much further this patch 1.09 increasing the attribute scaling of flails which does affect this weapon making it have better scaling better damage as a whole but also increases the speed of various attacks recovery time and they deal a lot more Poise when having it in two hand so instead of just having to power stance if you two hand one it's gonna have a lot more stagger potential and that is really relevant in PvP so now I'm catching people at ranges they simply don't expect I'm staggering them which leads to Combos and other potential and the recovery is feeling very smooth allowing me to combo and Ash of War smoothly the ash is doing really reasonable damage at this point and the weapons starting to hit like a remote relevant level I'm not saying this weapon is like oh my God amazing you need to use it now it's broken op no it's just gone from an absolute joke of a weapon to actually relevant and quite fun to use as a sort of challenge certainly a lot more viable than it used to be and I'm glad to see it naturally its damage output is not overly High not staggering or anything like that but it is usable now and that's where it should at least be next we have the grafted Dragon a fist weapon this slightly worse this patch due to the weapon type what they did is they decreased the Poise damage of specifically heavy attacks and running heavy attacks or Fist and Claws so this weapon right here now has less potential in PvP which is funny because it wasn't exactly the most relevant weapon was it it does have a pretty cool Ash of ball which can be usable in say PVE scenario standing under a boss and spamming it but it's a bit awkward it's a bit of a meme pick but it's undeniable that it does have quite the output in certain situations and is quite fun to use if you can make it work moving on to our next weapon though we have another weapon that has received some changes actually some Buffs here the Giants red braid which has increased attack speed on the first attack of its combo and they've reduced the tech recovery time for whips as a whole this is not relevant in my opinion the whips are still a very weak weapon type while their range and move set is fun and I like them I just think meta and potential viability wise they're not very good they attack a little bit too slow and they have absolutely no Poise in a meta based on 1.08 and Beyond where Poise and stag is so important I see this is a fun challenge weapon to use and you can make them work but it's an uphill battle and this one by no means is a good whip it has a unique Ash of War where you can do a spin around you for fire damage and that is clunky and awkward holding you in place leaving you vulnerable not doing remotely enough damage to see whips get some love this patch is nice but what I think they need is some serious attack speed increases or give them some sort of poise and I don't think they're gonna get that so we'll see what they do in patch 1.010 next is the lion great bow where Dan's bow with no changes to this weapon type this weapon in particular there's nothing to really say it's simply a good great bow able to get some enhancements from the unique ammo type and a fine pick if you want to use great bows but there's really nothing more to say about it moving up to B then I'm excited to talk about this one we have the acts of godric up from sea thanks to the major weapon type changes much like we talked about with the ring Great Horn they've increased the attribute scaling of great axes and increase the speed range and recovery time for various attacks which has been very nice for this weapon with a little bit more damage and the moveset is feeling really good we did a whole build on this very recently to see how relevant it is and I've gotta say the move set really impressed me combine the speed and damage and range of this weapon with say something like Beast or sling and you can catch people with the the much greater speed than they're expecting I had a lot of fun with this weapon in PvP and it was actually better than how I felt about it in PVE in fact where we were testing a lot of the ash of War I command they kneel and the buff stats had back in 1.04 they improved this ash of War particularly making the cast speed better and also letting you roll out so you can faint or cancel out if you do it the wrong time or Miss in 1.09 they actually increased the attack generation speed of that Shockwave which is fantastic the problem is the damage is pathetic and it's still fairly slow also it's a shock wave meaning bosses can actually jump the ash of War damage and of course players can and do it's definitely a lot more relevant than it used to be though and actually rate it pretty solid in PvP and okay in PVE compared to being just like a joke of a weapon that's pretty good next up then we have the heavy thrusting Sword Dragon King's Crag blade which finds itself in an awkward position in this patch because it's got another Nerf to the heavy thrusting swords again they've decreased the hitbox size for various attacks for this weapon type off the back of many specific moves jumping in attacks various movesets to this weapon type as well as really lowering the Poise damage and for PVP specifically reducing counter thrusting damage back in 1.07 so it's just doing a lot less damage and now it has even less range in a really awkward place and I might even put it like C at some point for now I'll let it barely hold on to BT because it still has some output it's still very cool weapon still fun to use but damn they'd be nerfing this weapon type every patch hopefully not again in the next one finally still in beta is the Marcus Hammer which is better this patch but I just don't think it's relevant enough to push it to say a tier what they did is the hammer type they've increased the running attack speed and recovery time that's feeling nice and smooth you're allowed to combo and smoothly go into the ash which does staggering damage if you can land it that's nice because it has hyper armor and big hits big Poise damage if you can land it in PvP it's gonna absolutely Crush but to be honest Landing in PvP is quite hard it's very predictable even though it is quicker these days you can entirely rely on the ash for the damage though in PVE the output there is insanely good per usual dealing want 2K per hit and that's awesome it's just awkward because it's holy damage and of course the end game bosses in this game they're quite highly resistant still it's quite a short range awkward weapon doesn't quite have the Poise that I feel it needs to really be viable in PvP but hammers are doing a lot better than they used to be but I reckon BT is probably still a fair rating for this one next up though in a tier we have the sacred Relic sword which has been nerfed this patch specifically the ash of War basically what they've done is they made it weaker specifically for free for all A Team Deathmatch where you would be spamming that massive AOE Ash of War to knock people down deal great damage do it from long range and the runarc was so wide it would just cover basically the entire Arena very fun for 1.08 but a bit annoying overly used so I understand them specifically nerfing that for basically range in PvP where this is relevant the thing is in 1.09 great swords actually saw a buff where they increased the speed range and recovery time for various attacks so they're feeling a lot smoother and more effective the weapon type is doing great right now so while this one's had a bit of a knock it's also had a bit of a boost so 80s still feels Fair next up is the star Scourge great swords which is pretty cool because they have their Asher wall buff this patch they took the stockhol acrylic and increased the speed of the follow-up attack that downward slam now the first part the gravity pulling is quite useful in PvP dealing good damage pulling people in and pressures them for the follow-up slam even though it is faster now it's still quite predictable and easy to roll in PvP so I don't rate this as like a boost to its tier it's just a good weapon with big burst potential and that burst potential is a bit more consistent now actually better DPS overall in PVE if you're just spamming the ash because it comes out quicker another weapon that's better this patch is the hand of Melania there's a slight buff to katanas in which they improve the running attack speed and reduced attack recovery time so those weapons as a whole are feeling a little bit smoother especially with the running attack you can do a running thrust which feels amazing has great Phantom range and that being faster is pretty crazy it's really nice so this Weapon by proxy is like slightly better and it remains an incredible successive attack weapon due to its Ash of War we can get big bursts out if you're not interrupted while you are quite vulnerable in the ash at War but yeah really high DPS weapon feeling a bit smoother this patch lastly in 80 then we have the ax of Godfrey which hasn't had some major changes there is a note though where they've increased the scaling to colossal weapons but it's hard to say with this one because the scaling seemed the same so it doesn't seem like it's had a real AR boost this remains in 80 though thanks to the Buffs the Regal raw and the follow-up hits that come from the heavy attack the big Regal raw damage is Major like one to 2K per use you get a war cries so your AR gets boosted up and then the heavy attack special that does a mini slam and then quick uppercut is incredible and you can rely on that to do all of your damage and trading in both PVE and PVP that's what keeps it here it's a nice high AR dangerous colossal weapon with good and interesting potential on its Astro War and the unique heavy but now we reached the S tier where I'm excited to talk about it more gots cursed sword finally makes it to the s here after the amazing Buffs to the weapon type in this patch and the ash it is feeling phenomenal the weapon type the curved great sword has increased speed range and recovery time which is feeling insane it was already a really long weapon but increased range now means you're clipping people at ranges that are just insane and the speed of the attacks means the DPS is better and also it's feeling a lot smoother the major thing is actually the recovery time though allowing for pretty infinite combos you can do a running light or standing light then use the ash of War interrupt that with a light Ash War light Ash war and it's sort of an infinite really high pressure combo and that's feeling great with the Asher War buff where they've got better generation speed on the cursed blood slice aspect of it so you're dashing in quick and you're attacking suddenly and quickly the pop of the curse blood that comes out almost instantly after and it's actually hitting people now combine that with a better speed recovery and range infinite combo and it's really really deadly as a bleed weapon technically those builds are slightly weaker this patch and I'll talk more about that in a sec with a different weapon because it doesn't really affect this one you're not using this weapon as a particular bleed the cursed board has other benefits like fire and the weapon type is great now finally though they lowered the Poise power of the ash of war in 1.09.1 because we're a little bit too strong and I guess they noticed it all right let's talk about it mowgwin's sacred spear I was considering dropping this one down to A2 this comes off the nasty Nerf to the AOE which is reduced in range the Blue Moon ritual but still a pretty wide reaching bleed option now as a great spear they decrease the hitbox size for its attacks for various attacks and that sucks because the range of this weapon is a really big Power part of it and having that reduced does hurt but the main aspect of the DPS potential this weapon is the ash of War and the bleed potentially you have there that was nerfed in 1.09 where they reduced the power of the white mask and the Lord of blood Talisman basically you're getting a lot less AR than you used to when a bleed would trigger so all bleed builds and builds that rely on triggering bleed often are weaker now does does that mean they are weak and bad hell no it's still really good it's plea builds but they are noticeably weaker and it needs acknowledging with this weapon type being weaker on top of that it's feeling it it's been hit with three relevant Nerfs back to back now so that's why I was thinking maybe it's 80 now but to be honest still has pretty good burst really good output still a good weapon type but they are making it weaker so we have to talk about it alright also an S tier Blasphemous blade arguably the best weapon in the game we don't need to talk about it too much it's just overtuned it has a bit too much going for it and somehow it's received various Buffs over patches and patches and it hasn't really changed this patch because yet as a great sword it got the increased speed range and recovery time for various attacks so just using this as a weapon as a physical attacking weapon it's just better it's crazy that this is still getting buff even by proxy of its weapon type next we have the carrion Regal scepter which is a weapon of course a boss weapon that you can use as a fighting weapon with its spinning Ash of War but this mainly comes down to the fact that it has s intelligence scaling and of course boost your moon sorcery damage which is very nice it's a very relevant staff because it's basically the second best pick in the game from our sorcery builds unless you're willing to go for the increased damage but making things cost more FPU if not this is pretty much the best pick so obviously it's St because sorcery builds love this thing with no changes we don't need to talk about it beyond that finally the last weapon on the list malachev's Black Blade still an SD at this point there haven't been really any major changes to colossal swords this patch they did increase attribute scaling of the type colossal sword weapon type in the notes but it's really hard to say if this really saw any benefit from that other than that though it's a destined death supplier so 60 seconds now of 10 Health reduction and a burst of damage and damage over time when you use it it's also got hyper armor and the Azure War has a triple attack part of it where you spin it around then slam then blow up which is fantastic in PvP they also walk back the nerve to crouch poke which is feeling nice and good and usable these days it's a very cool very unique weapon and pairs incredibly well with the dagger to double up on your Destin death application and mix up your attack speed as well but there you have it this is my official tier list for 1.09 for the remembrance boss weapons as you can see overall they're doing very well a lot of them used to be nion useless or terrible now most everything is viable usable or damn good so they're doing a good job balancing these I'll be interested to see what they do more with it in the future
