the final home under the judges scrutiny is a tiny cottage in the town of Strom Ness in Orkney three years ago trawler fisherman Liam and his partner Caro took on a daedalic two beds in the heart of their hometown with a view to making the wheelhouse something special originally there was two rooms down here there was a set in room and the caption was tiny absolutely tiny so got that back rate out and start again and actually worked out really well - max my son space we made our little bunk bed so that our nieces and nephews could come and stay aim we've also underneath the bunk then we created a wardrobe space and a storage facility any bare space stack I fell on it and you can use that for storing something and same as what you have to do on a boat you know you have to maximize on space one arm in carros favorite pastimes is going down to the beach looking for driftwood and just whatever so we've gathered quite a lot of that and decided that would try and incorporate some of our and there as well Allah is not a confident you know we're coming from a fashion background of four generations paintings as well just the same just back on there or if anything we always think the house isn't a home without artwork on the walls it makes that feel cozy it makes it homely and not everyone will like your art and that's why you know it's in your home we are really passionate about our town strongness and that's why we have so much Orkney based stuff in our house that really is what our home is made of it does transport you back and to an old time home I think and for us that's what we want I just wish that I was around in 1800 so I never seen where I was I think I would have fitted in just grand I'm sorry I wouldn't have been here in way no chance then won't it be the same as what everybody else has what try and think outside that box and see what we could do a little bit of craftsmanship so we have for a this turned out fine I think clever design solutions like space-saving stairs mean this nie one-bedroom one-bathroom home has the mix of old worldliness and modern ingenuity which liam at cairo but after my favorite spot in the home is here because I like to sit there in front of the fire just enjoy everything that's around me all my favorite possessions one or two nice grounds as well to be had in a cold nights fine [Music] I look super interesting with the port and starboard lights either side of the entrance yeah I think it's gonna be magic inside nautical-themed I'm hoping the portholes next to his square windows yeah this is 1300 we needed that did away no he did perfect wasn't oh wow there's so much to look at it's a wonderland papa fish oh good I've always wanted to touch a cormorant Elena never thought I'd hear I got a tattoo of you buddy hi I'm gonna say something else I've spotted very personal to me as there's ducks up there and my father used to collect ducks this is a cozy spot Nevelson missus it's a favorite spot oh this is so lovely this feels like cousin her seats isn't it yes today this wall was just unbell you know the driftwood a little bits collected look at how powerful it's beautiful yes oh and it's on a gimbal so that's obviously from a ship promise Wow I see they've got the pulley up here like this ha this holes is so multifunctional this knitting there's taxidermy display a fireplace pulley it is quite cluttered in here but it's in a way that works and it feels quite charming doesn't notice but the theme is obviously items that mean a lot to them oh look obviously do real seafaring stuff it's not just a theme it's a life look at these Oh cold and the double sink well well you make the tea Oh have a little sailboat on the wheel does it work we're going that's making me sway look there again some timing look at that that is that is a chopping board for dealing with a fish they clearly have great success with the fishing rods that they've got attached to the underside of this to hers there now like that they could have had top cabinets to make more use of the space and instead they've gone for this beautiful shelving but that thing of having things hanging it's a very nautical things that means they they can't fall off I mean it's just so eccentric the collection of everything the juxtaposition of that with actually quite an interesting looking art collection these beautiful paintings there's nothing twee about this at all it's real art isn't it as much as stormy where their stuff isn't it's not like cam sees and sunsets is it ya know New England theme it's like real fisherman Melissa's porch me wherever I've just spotted a very interesting stair oh you know make sure you start with your left foot [Music] gosh that bed frame again saw the white and then Papa Monica I'm here it's just beautiful every single thing has got a resonance or a reference yeah to the see it's been so fine-tuned doesn't everywhere you look you're like oh you know I recognize that even even if I don't know it's from a boat I'm guessing it's from this little tucked-away bed here okay that's really cozy up there you're gonna go through I'm gonna give it a shot well you know me I could probably stand up in here this actually does feel like a bunk on an old ship yeah I think I would sleep really well up here I'm guessing this is probably clothes underneath here oh yeah yep that's so cool no it's like a little mini Closet in there [Music] we picture hanging on the door on the door Oh bathroom what's of orange oh and mustard this is cute look at the shower wall made of corrugated steel oh my gosh that's not both the shelf is it no just make make it make your own turn your own taps that's the same like red and blue hot and cold terms and the Copper Basin repurposed as a sink have you ever seen such a thing but actually it's such a small house to give yourself a really decent sized shower room it's a luxury and I think it's the right thing to do so your guests sleep on a shelf but that's okay cuz that's like once in a blue moon yeah I would absolutely give over more space to a bathroom lose a bedroom [Music]
