firecracker is currently the most hated card inside of clash Royale and today we're going to be looking at the history of firecracker and how she has evolved to being one of the most hated and annoying cards in the game so let's get right into it firecracker was added in February of 2020 and upon release she was immediately a pretty interesting and Unique Card she was a long ranged air plus ground targeting and high damage Troop that shoots a rocket which upon hitting the target splits into volum of five smaller Sparks and additionally she gets pushed back after shooting which can help Sav her and it's kind of like a special way of dodging any projectiles very quickly after launch the firecracker gained reputation for having very broken interactions such as randomly dodging spells or even just not shooting at all so it definitely was a mix of both good and bad things and her quirky and kind of buggy nature created a bit of a divide in the community while it was definitely a stressy call it over overpowered she was considered really annoying and her unpredictable nature frustrated both the people that were faced against her and the people that used her in their decks she had many gamebreaking interactions due to the push back mechanic which would push the five cracker back two TOS after shooting this meant that other troops especially melee troops would often struggle to reach her this was most noticeable with cars like the bowler Pekka and Mega Knight against the Mega Knight her push back allowed to dodge the jump attack and then create distance from the Mega Knight allowing you to buy a lot of time and deing a lot of damage to it due to Pekka and Bower's slow walk speed these troops could only dream of catching up to firecracker the bowler's case being especially goofy as the firecracker would just constantly get out of the bowler's attack range the firecracker ability to Target air troops and deal with swarm cards made it a valuable addition to many deck archetypes she saw a lot of used in fast-paced decks and one such deck was innovated by Moran one of the best Clash Royale players and his Goblin giant firecracker deck heavily utiliz the firecrackers for air defense and Chip damage this deck immediately became popular in the meta for its raw offensive power and the ability to control the arena firecracker established herself as a unique long range troop and a style card for many decks however on launch her mechanics were quite flawed it's a given that she is powerful against swarm cards but that wasn't always the case a very notorious bug was a firecracker taking a break from fir cracking and just standing there this happened when the skeleton she prepared to aim at was taken out by other troops and this what happened in a loop so she would never actually get to shoot fortunately this was patched about 4 years later after launch and it still occasionally happens due to the way she targets enemy troops she had a tendency to miss fast moving troops since her rocket explodes where the target was at the moment she shot which was also a bit of a downfall and one reason she wasn't exactly considered super broken for the first few years of her being in the game the firecracker is a unique card in terms of its balancing on one hand an enemy firecracker is an easy King Tower activation if you play her cards right but on the other hand her push back allows her to stay on player sides of the arena for a longer time getting more value the more time she stays not to mention that she couldn't simply be taken out by the log like the princess it's no surprise that players wanted this car nerfed some suggesting reducing it to two elixer card with suitably reduced stats similar to the bomber rework that came later in 2021 which reduced him from three Elixir down to two Elixir some also suggested a more extreme approach by taking away her push back effect which would essentially take away the unique nature of the card and the strategies tied to it though I personally think that would have been too much and would have entirely killed the card as the usage rate Rose so did the community's complaints in a poll ran by the founder Royale API 80% of participants voted her as the most frustrating card in the game and super actually listened to the community and the fir cracker received their first NERF in July of 2020 reducing her push back from two tows down to 1.5 this meant that other troops could better counter her and it made taking her out with spills a bit easier easier however even after this Nerf the Casual Community still mostly considered the firecracker as an annoying and unfun car to face as 2021 rolled around the firecracker had been adopted into many deck archetypes when kept alive the firecracker could be a menace on the field continuing to gain value unless taken out by spells the ideal one being arrows but if a deck didn't have arrows they'd often be forced to use a more expensive spell causing a negative Elixir trade or risk leaving the firecracker unchecked and sometimes the firecracker would even Dodge the arrows as well as the other spells so this obviously made her a bit harder to counter than the other normal cards the firecracker had gained her spot in Pro play in 2021 however she'll practically disappear from Pro play alog together in 2022 with her spot being taken by the freshly released Archer Queen which appeared in 50% of the Decks at the time the arer queen was slowly nerfed but still remained viable in many decks leaving the five cracker in the shadows for quite a while this would all change in late 2022 with the introduction of a new legendary card and the storm that was brought alongside it which was the Phoenix Phoenix was an incredibly strong card at launch and The Meta was shaped around it you either used the Phoenix or you filled your deck with counters and the firecracker was a perfect counter for this she would see a massive Revival and be seen in practically every top ladder Deck The Phoenix was appropriately nerfed to Bringing Down its damage and HP to make it more balanced and as the Phoenix meta died down so did the firecracker popularity she would once again be cast aside reaching her lowest usage rate in history of only 0.5% 2023 comes around with some big developments in Clash Royale for the firecracker first with the February balance changes which reduces firecracker first attack time interval from 1 second down to 0.6 seconds a 40% increase in first attack time which was not a small buff by any means the faster attack speed meant the fire record was now viable in valuable addition to many decks shifting her reputation from one of the weakest cards in the game to one of the most versatile her usage rate would rise from 0.5% to 6% in only 3 months later in June super cell with tweaker first attack speed eventually selling on 0.65 seconds which remains unchanged to this day June would also bring one of the most game Chang mechanics in Clash ra which were the evolutions firecracker would join the role giant barbarians and skeletons as the first evolution cards in the game Evolution firecracker will gain a 43% Health buff allowing her to survive her biggest counter which were the arrows and a 33% increase in Recoil which would effectively put it back at a two to push back and the shpn would also leave a poison likee effect and all this made her an absolute menace to deal with the evil fire cracker could deal damage to the crown Tower while targeting troops in front of it with each shot and trapnel stacking up and dealing insane damage while pretty much just staying back at the bridge it was safe to say she was not just a troop but a win condition her usage rate exploded reaching up to 35% in June of 2023 in Grand challenges but for mid LAD players it was anywhere near 75% this is mostly because after collecting all their shards free to-play players chose her over other evolutions and now evil firecracker was and still is practically unavoidable super acknowledg this issue and in the August 2023 balance update her health buff was decreased to 30% from 43% and push back range increase was also just completely removed and the Sparks are also changed so that they no longer stacked these fixes helped makeer more balanced and less annoying to play against and while this Nerf impacted their use rate the evil firecracker still played a crucial role in several Pro matches that year with one big example being Ardent Tois versus Mugi in the World Finals for 2023 and I'll just let desper play out so you can clearly see how good evil firecracker really was really get to see that anymore hard to the right hand side should get one despite the skeletons and it does Evo firecracker out for Aran Tois and we'll see if he can defend against this hog and keep that firecracker up to create some opposite lane pressure yeah and this regular firecracker actually putting in a lot of work the Evo firecracker was not able to get those shots on top of the regular one and right now double firecracker down on the right lane Aro is trying to set up a push but to no avail so far especially with that great test placement once again and you saw the Ice Spirit nearly making enough room for the firecracker evolved to stay alive but you just can't pull the fast ones on you saw just how much value both the Evo and normal five cracker provided in just a little bit and even throughout the match the five cracker also does a ton more damage but I don't want to waste time with all of that and I'm sure you guys get the point today the firecracker is still running strong and is a very popular picking ladder hovering around 55% in early 2024 and still also fairly popular in Grand Challenge with a lot of the more experienced players really using it to dominate and you can see the almost 40% usage rate of arrows has definitely been a reason for less people using firecracker but I think that really just proves just how strong and hated it was since so many people are using a specific card just to counter it plus the evil zap has also caused zap to become actually the most used card in Grand challenges and it has also been a counter to firecracker but she is still one of the strongest and definitely one of the most hated cards in the game but that's
