It's pretty much impossible to classify into a genre because Orson's goal is to show the audience how easy it is for them to believe a lie but you could think of it as a documentary on deception.
Toward the end of his life, he was working on a televised magic special that was never aired: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orson_Welles'_Magic_Show Apparently, the footage for this show archived in the Munich Film Museum.
Man I loved when David Copperfield came on TV, that shit was an event you cancelled all your plans for!
Orson calls him David while the film seems to be made years before they met or possibly before David Copperfield was born. As a former magician, this is the most compelling question.
Damn, that was well done.
Show me a jury that can explain the teleporting man trick, and I'll go down on you?
Seems crazy now, but you gotta remember this is before cocaine was illegal.
David Copperfield is such a good entertainer/magician. Ive seen him since I was a kid and still do if he comes to town. I honestly didnt know how good he was until I started seeing other magicians like Chris Angel and kther vegas acts. With the expception of Penn and Teller, they all pale in comparison to how good Copperfields show is.
Same thing we do every day, Pinky...
