Just listening to the opening, it doesn't seem very coherent, in the sense of one thing leading to another. This is quite natural in movie music, where the point is for the mood of the music to follow the narrative thread. But compare say the Rachmaninov 2nd Symphony, to choose something in a broadly similar soundworld -- the flow is thought out in so much more detail.
When I search iTunes music, I see several pieces called the Lord of the rings Symphony. Howard Shore? De Meij?
Shore took a famous Christian hymn, This Is My Father's World and arranged it for symphony to get the main theme. Many of the other musical phrases like this in the symphony are stock "movie music" phrases.

Not that I dislike the LOTR symphony. I've seen it played live by a symphony twice, and play the main theme myself on the viola.
