I said do you understand for what happened if we must calculate there will be a huge and tragic loss of life and the government will fall it is difficult to be one of the handful of people who devastating tax in the London transport system and the realization that here we had in her own backyard residents the United Kingdom with UK passports announcing attacks on the streets of London mi5 and the police needed to work very closely to combat the terrorist threat there was a lot of terrorist activity than had been anticipated someone would be people who were involved at the world level but then there were others where you could see this is a serious threat first time I heard the name ahmed ali khan was early in 2006 when he came in on the periphery of another investigation he was somebody who had associated with people of interest Ahmed Ali Khan was already knows her life life he come on the radar because they suspected him being involved in fundraising the Islamic extremists in Pakistan Ahmed Ali Khan was 25 at the time he was married with a young child he was well-educated he had a degree in computing he led a typical life not necessarily overtly religious but Ali Khan progressed as a target in priority when he traveled to Pakistan [Music] in several plots in the UK what we have seen is people travelling to Pakistan to camps up in the tribal areas for training there [Music] Caan was somebody who was a fairly frequent traveler to Pakistan had been there several times we were indeed very suspicious about what he was up to [Music] I was informed that his visit there had not been from entirely measured prophecies and he had met people there who give rise to concern Russian rail for its British ridgey from the West Midlands the Fred Britt back in 2002 when he was wanted by the police for the murder his own uncle most alarming to us Ralph was suspected of having strong links with in al-qaeda anyone who has contact personally with Ralph will be under suspicion of potentially being linked to terrorism that was enough suspicion for us to give 24/7 surveys against Ali [Music] a law it sounds very easy to say keep someone under surveillance 24 hours a day it's a massive task he went onto the 16th floor at New Scotland Yard there's control in there that's what its operation and the many others get a carry on at the same time are coordinated and orchestrated from that room [Music] a camera aimed on the front door of a suspect means that the surveillance team there has been close to the house which could compromise their position basically show him out Ali comes out of his house that could be alerted to surveillance team that we parked up nearby [Music] you need a train eight and fourteen people are one surveillance tour of duty in what try and do as best you can is get people with profile that were just mixing with the general community why are you gonna tell me five minutes if you know you're gonna be longer in a that's what I'm talking about people who are subject to the investigation of given code names in this case Ali's name was lion's roar I'm not gonna have to do something cuz I can't be happy with to be honest waiting outside in the cold in that anyway lion roar just turning up Blackwood Street now [Music] I want our so then this is actually controlled by the target where that target goes who that target meets who is it unknown Oh when an individual meets another individual that person comes under assessment as to whether that's gonna be a target of value moving opposite direction thank you Atari I won't go after members the selection process for terrorist cells is scientific ahmed ali khan was selected because he was articulate he was intelligent he was also charismatic he could influence others he could persuade others [Music] Tanveer saying was a single man and a father unemployed we believe he was educated at university but he played a pivotal role with ahmed ali khan as his number two he was his left hand Umar Islam was a convert originally he had been a Rastafarian he was slightly older than the others at 28 [Music] they were quite ordinary they had families they had responsibilities most of them didn't have criminal convictions there wasn't anything different about these individuals from anyone else [Music] on the 15th of July Ali met an individual whom we hadn't seen before they went into Lloyd Park and in Walthamstow and lay down on the grass facing each other [Music] clearly designed to avoid anyone seeing what they were doing Hugh even lip-reading from a distance something that we've seen is that people who have been trained in Pakistan are trained in counter-surveillance it made us understand that actually these were highly trained terrorist professionals market checks there the park lutein mark each exit of life those two Delta 3 stay on that on [Music] this individual was identified as assets Arwa lived in High Wycombe where he was born he live with his parents he was unemployed postman and he had dropped out at University I said Sowell had only recently returned from a visit to Pakistan we don't know precisely what he was doing when he was there but in the context of this investigation clearly sinister we allocated him the codename rich food [Applause] he was subject to extensive monitoring by us it was clear from his activity that he was purchasing hydrogen peroxide hydrogen peroxide is a chemical generally utilized by hairdressers or in the in the hairdressing environment but over recent years has been seen more and more for its use in the construction of improvised explosives most significantly on the attacks on the 7th of July 2005 we assessed that assad Sawa was purchasing the hydrogen peroxide in order to make it into an explosive concentration but that stage I was told that it was getting serious we didn't know the plot we didn't know what it was either we just knew something's on here [Music] no that's some form of terrorist activity is operational we have to elect anyone we think would reasonably be regarded as in the loop and the biggest one of course is the United States of America our two nations were so closely linked if there were bad things brewing in Great Britain that probably constituted as serious a threat to America domestically and to Americans as if that plot were developing in the United States not because we loved the British so much we do but because the threat was so easily transferable we saw the US intelligence community offer its support to help the British well that gets very classified in a hurry but when you turn on the US big intelligence machine it's pretty great [Music] we have a lot of resources because we're a global service we have touch points around the planet [Music] the intelligence services will go to great lengths to make sure that they have some idea of what has been said and what has been passed by internet or telephone messages from communications monitoring we could see that Metallica was in constant communication with Pakistan the central strategic direction emanated from al-qaida core and there was a middleman in between Rashid Rauf the man behind the screen so to speak and from whom we believed the plotters in Great Britain were getting advice the judgment was that there was a plot underway that the materials for the bomb of being bought what we still didn't know is what would the target be was it going to be an attack in public places crowded places we've seen that before if you look at Al Qaeda's targeting list it covers just about everything shopping centers diplomatic premises public buildings public transport any crowded place we'll be looking at a repeat of 77 were we looking at explosives taken in a rucksack attack in parts of London that was part of our initial assessment actually it was going to be far more sophisticated than that which one there's that free Isles I don't know which one to look in huh what one is it Ali was seen by the surveillance officers paying particular attention to soft drinks bottles take you back especially he was paying attention to the seal on top of the bottle an unusual thing to do they might think certainly it caused us to think very carefully what nerf this could mean he began tasking members of his cell to purchase equipment today was seen on surveillance walking into pharmacies acid Sawa looking at buying citric acid and stating to the shopkeeper that actually was for his sister for cooking [Music] Tambor has st. asking for syringes when asked which type he said the large ones whilst we didn't know exactly what they were actually doing it was clearly not normal activity at a significant turning point in the investigation came when for the first time we saw Ali go to forest road in Walthamstow this was a new property we haven't seen it before in the investigation we didn't know what the significance of it was but then over the time we saw that several other members of the network were going there on a regular basis as well ahmed ali can't attend they are saying on one occasion left the address with a bag they were monitored on their route to lloyd park which was nearby they had walked far enough away from their premises for them to believe that by dumping it in a bin in a park that it couldn't be traced back to them [Music] we were asked to make an assessment associated with the recovery of a carrier bag it appeared that somebody had been hollowing out batteries our assessment was they were involved in activity which could be leading to their construction of an improvised explosive device at that address we didn't know what the device was what it would look like we can only make assessments based on what we see we needed to get access to the flap we needed to monitor the flap we needed to control what was inside the flat and identify what they were doing a creep is a covert entry it's a problem I was held that you're gonna be assisting on this covert operation tonight can you assemble team two to assist in support and I have picked a number of individuals to assist it is a high-risk strategy to enter any premises to put in a camera and an audio probe the risk is obviously from individuals and Pinelli can't and they are saying or anyone who could come in to the address clearly the opportune time is having all of your targets under control and away from the premises which food arrived home safely contained and controlled brick buildings under control vision on cold wind top drawer and Lionel station clear clear 1:05 to 0-5 prepare to go bye-bye the team were notice there is a potential for compromise and you're there too right to minimize it so it's certainly a nervous activity to be parceled [Music] [Music] pedestrian in position check clearance for exits oh yeah clear [Music] once I knew that the deployment of being successful then the pressure was off but significance of the operation has only known once the cream was complete and then it was realized how important that premises was [Music] I happened to be in the ops room and was aware that the probe material was being piped into that option [Music] it was a degree of excitement they had to their subjects in clear picture standing over a a large bin in the middle of that room [Music] we were beginning to discover what they were doing with these bottles they were boarding her to her they were extracting the ingredients through the bottom they were draining off the ingredients and they were putting in a substitute [Music] extremely clean extremely Sandpoint extremely limited that was the first time as always aware that we knew that that was the method the terrorists were going to use the explosives going to be injected into those bottles the fact that they were decanting drinks bottles that they were looking at the seals when they were seen on surveillance gave an indication that they were going to use some form of substitution no why would they go to such extraordinary lengths to avoid inspection scrutiny FC it was from us the one could have examining the bus if it wasn't a train nobody would examine the Train if it was in a public space that we could surely carry the backpack so although two places where you might use not to get through such scrutiny where securitized premises or airports we have never come across the use of a liquid explosives disguised as a drinks bottle but from the scientific testing it's quite clear that it would have been viable and created devastation it wasn't a huge bomb but the place when a small bomb can cause the most enormous damage is an impression Isley a cabin and in an airplane very much like popping a balloon you're using the pressure inside to actually explode outwards this in that stage that the three pieces kind of fall together small bomb heading through scrutiny devastating and by absolute tail I received a call from the chief of operations of the CIA's Counterterrorism Center I knew that he was deadly serious when he said you and your deputy must come to see us right away I've been in the center of many crises many crises across the world over 47 years at CIA [Music] but when I went to talk to his chief of ops my hair literally stood up on end we knew that there was a new and innovative way using liquid explosives and looking at it technically CIA believed it was feasible it was very eerie we didn't know exactly what Airlines might be targeted it wasn't at all clear I was incredibly worried about where this didn't go [Music] from the audio surveillance in the flat we heard them talking about favorite holiday destinations in the US we believed this was a first indication of where they were going to undertake an attack [Music] all the plots that we have investigated in the UK this was becoming the most significant [Music] the United Kingdom was going to be used as a launch pad for a direct attack on the United States and I got a telephone call from my office on a secure telephone because I always carried a secure phone telling me that a particular thread of intelligence being followed by the British authorities had all of a sudden spiked as soon as I got that briefing I was in contact with President Bush from the very beginning after September 11th President Bush told everybody don't let this happen again and that was I think at the forefront of his mind I felt very emotional you really do worry after September the 11th the beautiful Tuesday morning 11 September 2001 when when which will always be looked upon by me as as where you know I did not contribute to the level I should have against al-qaida core leadership and we underestimated their capacities for international strike never again never again will we ever underestimate our adversaries because I was the director of the Central Intelligence Agency in a nation of war against terrorism my moral legal professional responsibility was to make sure this never happened again ahmed ali khan who's reporting back to Pakistan about what state he was in making the devices he sent a text and it basically said that the bat and the bottles are ready only need the juice now the bat was his phrase for the batteries clearly the bottles were the drink bottles but what he needed was the juice which was the Hodja peroxide Pakistan was also directing I said Sawa the main procurer of hydrogen peroxide I said so I was in an internet cafe a surveillance operative was looking at what he was typing and recording what it was that he was saying assets are war is contacting most of the hydrogen peroxide supplies in the country quite a lot of the communication was in a very simple form coded speech just talking about Calvin Klein aftershave for instance when clearly is referring to hydrogen peroxide we knew the hydrogen peroxide has all the high wycombe with acid Salwa he was the quartermaster if you like a central figure in this plot up till now we knew we had Ali Sawa three or four other associates it wasn't until we monitored a further conversation we really understood the full scale of this operation seem to us they were discussing how many people were going to be involved in this plot the variety of names and nicknames were used [Music] eleven whoa [Music] we think of that number of people being involved in a plot that gave an indication of the scope of what and the scale of what it was they wanted to do and then talked about possibly one more and it seemed that the the one more bring him up to 19 may have had some sort of special significance for them of course relating back to the the 19 people involved in 9/11 I certainly felt the pressure personally from a couple or standpoints first and their responsibility to protect the aviation system ultimately rested with me at least on the American side and what made it more complicated was because the president kept it very tightly held I could only tell two other people in my agency the head of our intelligence Charlie Allen and my deputy Michael Jackson I have several hundred officers but I couldn't tell them anything about this but we had to bring in Kip Holley because we had to plan for taking protective measures involving civil aviation Charlie Allen said here is a plot that we're taking very very seriously it is of the utmost confidentiality and you may not talk to anyone about it this is the highest levels of the UK government and the US government here's the punchline Kipp they're coming after airplanes with liquid bombs you got to stop it there are very limited spaces that you can talk about things like this at the department homeland security headquarters there is a level that is called top-secret special compartment and information TSS CI that is kind of at the top of the totem pole we couldn't talk to the airline industry or the airport industry we literally had to bring less than a handful of people into a room get a secure laptop and type up the protocol that was going to change the entire processing for passengers getting on airplanes we were deciding whether to ban liquids to perhaps ban carry-on we developed a plan for the president to approve [Music] the president was out of town but we have the capability of doing video teleconferencing that's secure [Music] the president set the tone which was intense but not uptight occasionally maybe a joke about one of the individuals as President Bush would say this was not our first rodeo we'd been through plots before everybody understood what our responsibility was there was a great deal of concern that nothing happened that might in any way tip off the plotters and accelerate the plot we would initiate these new measures when the British authorities were ready to arrest the plotters in the United Kingdom against Husein ahmed ali count and Sawa there was clear evidence of conspiracy the difficulty we had is that there were others involved they had discussed 18 individuals what we wanted to do was to allow the operation to run to such an extent that we could identify who those individuals were so it's important that the operation ran I remember been briefed by mi5 and they told me we know this is a big plot but we do not believe year we have the threshold of evidence to connect these people and we would like to weed it's at this point that I face a dreadful dilemma with a very profound judgment to be made and it simply is this that if you go in to Italy then it is highly likely that you will not have the threshold of evidence to convict people who may be released and may try this again if on the other hand you wait to get the evidence necessary to reach that threshold of charging conviction the greater the risk that they will actually embark on an off length of terrorism so that judgment is hugely difficult to make I should remember thinking about it and I believe I am record that is saying do you understand what will happen if we must calculate there will be a huge and tragic loss of life and there will be the tragic loss of your job my job and the government will fall no gone and dude I gave the instruction to proceed and take more time and the no illusions about what would happen if we got this wrong [Music] you ass operation developed a promise Tony Blair he was a whale holiday in fact I think he was actually staying sir cliff Richards holiday home in the Bahamas obviously I kept him informed of what was happening he recognized the magnitude of it but other than that he he let us get on with a job we needed to extend the surveillance to almost all of their associates over 200 officers were brought in to London from around the country they were trained in surveillance this is the largest surveillance operation and probably one of the most difficult surveillance operation that has ever been undertaken in the UK there were 28 surveillance teams and each team there's an opportunity to compromise another team especially when targets come together this type of operation on the scale it was it was new to everybody as more and more information guide accumulated and the outlines of the plan got clearer I was in regular contact with John Reid I already knew Michael Chertoff I had agree I'd Mauritian for them but this wasn't easy to communicate to someone from the United States who along with many others had gone through 9/11 we know this is a big plot we know there's grave danger but we need a little more time John told me the British police operate under evidential constraints it's not enough to get information you have to have information you can act upon for Michael Chancellor's points of view and you know through him the president because he would be briefing his president the way I was briefing my Prime Minister Tony then if this went wrong for them the consequences are after 9/11 would just be huge so I knew how they would feel but we had to ask them please trust us we were sensitive to the concerns of our British partners the contention we had was not what this was about not that it was no contention with regard to its seriousness but simply a dispute that's probably a fair enough word but between friends how long do you let it run before you disrupt it as far as we were concerned we'd let it run if as long as we reasonably could but letting it run has a hidden assumption and the assumption is that you know enough about it that you know enough about all the players that there isn't some element of this plot that's actually ahead of the other element John can't give me insurance we know where everybody is I remember the tan out of the discussion of you come from this I mean what do you think of them are you sure you know what the date is involved and are you confident you can do this I had a lot of faith in the British government British officials but they're human as we are as well and there's no guarantee that you're capturing everything it's all very well sitting over in America so why don't you go and arrest them if we take them into custody too early and there is nothing to charge them with and we release that releases back into the community a danger that certainly I remember created a tension between us that tension existed and as we moved into August the tension became pretty high [Music] ahmed ali khan on the 6th of august was under surveillance and he went into an incident our surveillance operatives entered the internet camera lemur ones got a visual online Lee [Music] lemur ones go visual on lion roars computer was it contacting can you see who is emailing them on [Music] it's not emailing what's he looking at [Music] [Applause] flight times [Music] if something's playing together a document dine rolls on his way out do you want lemur once a target no get on that computer [Applause] lemur ones recovering file he cut and pasted and downloaded details over seven transatlantic flights that's at that stage we'll begin to realize exactly what's at stake here and this is very big it subsequently became clear when it's looked at and these were flights all leaving at or around the same time so that actually they'll all be in the air at the same time they would be brought down when they were dachshund all over the Atlantic when the last one had left Britain over the sea but the first one and the queue had not yet reached learned in the United States the idea was to do it far enough out over the ocean so that if the word got out that a plane had been blown up the other planes would not have time to get back to safety if it was suddenly atlanta's you're talking about 2,000 leaves [Music] we had alarm bells going off earlier but this really pushed the needle into the red this was an armed attack by an opposing armed enemy force you know the short word for that is war and in the objective and war is to kill or capture the enemy and to prevent him from attacking us the president was aware of this he knew the danger clearly the view of our governments leadership was you know it's time to move the preparations were advancing at a pace that the hydrogen peroxide had been bought everything was actually in place so in theory this could have happened within days we were the timing of the arrest was clearly a matter that we've been thinking of for some time but there's never a perfect time to make arrests some people will always say concrete just varies a little bit longer get the extra bit of vital evidence it's a judgement call in every case sadly in the UK we've had long experience and making those judgment calls and I suppose it becomes a little bit in a mixture of instinct and also hard evidence oh let me just be really candid it's really hard to think of the public diplomacy strategy to say yes we're sorry the airliners went down but we were delaying our disruption of the plot so we could build up evidence that was permissible in court right there there's no way to put that press release together I think a few to see that this one was a significant operation Umar Islam had conversations with ahmed ali khan inside the bond factory and the conversation from the poem as I interpret it looked as though they were talking about taking their wife and child on the flight clearly that's a chilling thing to hear that individuals are willing to take their children and their wife on a flight that they intend to destroy [Music] I was based in the operations room at New Scotland Yard soon after I arrived in the ops room I was made aware that Islam and and Ali were in the premises that we were watching which we were referring to as the bomb factory we couldn't see them but we could hear woofs of conversation it sounded like Ali was sort of telling or coaching Islam in a very sort of leading way my colleagues hadn't heard anything similar before together we were trying to puzzle out what was actually happening it was enough to make us concerned that something untoward was was being prepared I notified the senior investigating officer and the National Coordinator of that development from the audio surveillance I had the first indication that they were making suicide videos to the people of the world this is an obligation on me as a Muslim to a jihad against the Kafar I say to you disbelievers that as you bomb you will be bombed as you kill you will be killed this holders that they were nearing the end of the preparation phase and at the making of the suicide video sometimes called the living will was the final stages of what they were preparing to do and they were preparing to die the single fact was this cannot be allowed to happen and whatever we can do to make it not happen we need to do and we need to do now we knew that Ali would not go ahead without ration rails instructions [Music] ralph was both the leader and the controller of this plot they hadn't had to go ahead from Pakistan we knew that that was the state they're at so there was no immediate need to make arrests on grounds of public safety we were at the beginning of the week Angra decided to plan for the arrests on the Friday there was such a strong connection between alia if Annie got arrested first then the like of it is that Ralph would leave if Ralph was apprehended first then there was the threat that Ali could flee and also destroy evidence so it's really important that we have control over both these events than they were carefully synchronized the pressure I had was significant to do the right thing and to make the right things happen when they should happen so in early August I took a trip Paxton [Music] and this plot was the subject of conversation between me and our Pakistani counterparts his book [Music] which said intelligence with the Americans throughout this operation nobody told us that anyone from America was going to Pakistan so I go to Pakistan it's a natural thing Pakistanis are a good partner they've assisted us on a regular basis as we get into the room and I speak to my counterpart Ashfaq kyani the head of ISI we narrow it down from how are you and get acquainted to the terrorism threat to threats to the west to Rashid Rauf I think the is I appreciated the importance of Ralphs then we had a very good record with the ISI as we say taking off the battlefield al-qaida leadership if they were foolish enough to be in the settled regions of Pakistan where Roth was I hadn't had a day or night off because of this for a few nights and in the Wednesday night I had a three-year interlude which I was hugely looking forward to where my beloved Glasgow Celtic was playing Chelsea in London so I didn't have to leave London I was a boat and I went along and watched the first 45 minutes and much to my colleague Glasgow so Edward winning one nothing just before half-time I got a call that said we may need to combine to the office 10 minutes later a very urgent quorum saying we are almost certain you'll need to come by we've sent cows for you and five minutes later I was told in no uncertain terms you know how to leave we went through London at a pace that I had never gone in for I never really want to again [Music] and I was taken straight to the Home Office when they told me that bruh she drove the Pakistani end of the connection had been arrested by the Pakistan authorities ralph was arrested while I was in Pakistan right I am NOT claiming and will not claim cause and effect I made no demands but it is a fact that Rashid Rauf was arrested while I was visiting my Pakistani counterpart and I know as a fact that the arrest of ralph could be viewed as how would you want to put it in accelerant to actions that would have to be taken in Great Britain I discovered that Rafa being arrested at about 8 o'clock on the evening of August the 9th and I was actually in my office at Scotland Yard when I heard that not particularly welcome news it was quickly realized that this could compromise our operation from a personal point of view I believe that's a break into the trust that we had between America and ourselves this wasn't a case of the Americans trying to get the Pakistanis to do something for the for the express purpose of leveraging or blackmailing our british partners it happened that way and as I said before I wasn't unhappy if Ally Sawa or any of the others got to hear the RUF being arrested in Pakistan we don't know what their reaction would have been they could flee or they could equally desolate their bombs here in the UK before they get arrested there was no a critical national emergency - Ali Khan was sitting in an internet cafe waiting for a communication from Rashid Rauf from Pakistan we realized he probably had a shelf life of two or three hours before this started to disintegrate [Music] you having heard that ruff was arrested we had to move into what's called the executive action phase in other words we had to arrest all the people involved in this as soon as we could the day we were told the arrests were going to occur the fear was that those people would immediately go to the airport get on plans to try to at least salvage some of the plot the thing that had to be done from the start was talked to the other authorities around the world to get them to starting with the next flights out to ban liquids one of the concerns that we had was insider help did they have somebody working inside a UK airport in any capacity because it is part of al-qaeda plotting to get help from the inside if they can I had a phone call from the DI so don't go home suddenly we need to bring what was a plan being formulated to the for the arrest phase was an adrenaline rush yes it was because it wasn't pre-planned the way we wanted it there are two rooms running in response to this the surveillance has an Operations room in another office is a sport of history which was set up literally on the night sounds a bit old-fashioned now but we put whiteboards up there with the names of all the suspects he needs to get everybody it was available to the yard as quickly as possible but the 300 officers came in to Scotland Yard within two hours [Music] it was too busy to think about stress there's too much to be done I was in operations room I was instructed to deploy officers and maneuver arrest teams into position the surveillance team leader that was covering Sawa was reporting as Sal was in his car and moving towards London if I can only arrest one person at night that person was gonna be solved if he had the explosives he was in a position to make the attack happen if I could take him out of the game then maybe their operation won't work at all John was available so I deployed John to arrest Seoul because of the urgency of the situation I was told that the next two people that walked into a door I was to take them up and linking with the surveillance team leader who was following us and so on at that time he was travelling towards Wolfenstein there was a rush from Scotland Yard up to the ends of Stoke I had two other officers with me there was a lot of pressure on all of us because there was a lot of radio traffic a lot of communications they've got a phone's ringing all the time I was in constant contact that's a tireless team leader rich food is turning left into whorfin Stowe town or car park I'm Tanika carpark has two entrances one onto that road another a forest road the fact that Sowell had traveled from Thames Valley area to East London can monitor and listen to the radio the truth of the matter is that you're sending people into the unknown so I looked over I looked in the boot something's going on you've got the ringleader in the dawn on them that the city was hugely successful overnight operation quite tiring and certainly I seem to recall that two days before I got back to bed but that's what goes with the job security services are saying a major terrorist plot like this plot being carried out the loss of life to innocent civilians would have been on an unprecedented scale the recent arrests are a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists after the arrests there are some very significant fines when we're conducting searches of houses in particular assets ours house hidden in the roof of his garage was a tape and on that tape there were five suicide videos this is revenge for the actions of the USA in the Muslim lands and their and their conferences such as the British and yeah and the Jews yeah warned you so many time together while that learn leave us a lot but you persisted in trying to mediate a killer it is quite clear to me the Ahmed Ali count and all of those who made suicide videos wanted notoriety they were looking to make this bigger than 911 to all the non-believers or the non-muslims they let me know that you can never win in this war never can you win in this war [Music] we've now gone through a series of trials producing a massive amount of evidence and as a result of that a number of individuals have been convicted of terrorist offences I am satisfied that the Security Service and the police have saved thousands of lives and they have prevented a mass disaster that would have changed a lot when Rashid Ralph escaped it was clear to me that this was not really kosher that something really was miss you and that that he was permitted to escape I think the story was something about he was being moved between locations and they stopped at a McDonald's and then he had to go pray and then with anybody see Rashid where Rashid go yeah we were bit let me just say nonplussed by that and very disappointed and very angry Rashid Rauf goes into the tribal region and begins to re-energize his activity begins to try to reconnect and we begin to try to find him yet again a British terror suspect is reportedly killed in Pakistan there are claims of Rashid Rauf has died in a u.s. missile attack it's generally believed that rashid ralph was killed suddenly and with precision I think is the way the press accounts would describe it and I must admit that's a good thing I've heard rumors as everybody that he's dead I don't know if that's the case or not government agents haven't actually seen the body the local militants have cordoned off the area so it might be quite difficult to ultimately get real confirmation of his death some cite the Pakistani and the American authorities want us to think he's dead because actually he's being tortured in a cell somewhere this individual this evil individual was now at last dead and I believed him to be very much deceased at this stage nobody there he's deceased [Music] you
