The Life and Sad Ending™ of Dudley Moore

Dudley Moore was born in England in 1935 he  suffered from a birth defect called clubfoot   the right foot eventually straightens itself out  but the left would never was completely normal   consequently the kids at school made fun of him  because of that and he was kind of a small kid he   was a child prodigy on the organ in piano though  and he attended Magdalen College Oxford to study   music but he mostly liked jazz he went to London  after college to try to get an entertainment   career in acting or playing music he found success  with the comedy revue show Beyond the Fringe and   that's where he met to the other comedian that  he worked with later on Peter Cook they became   a comedy duo in the 60s and 70s they had a TV show  in England on BBC on the BBC was called not only   but also and a couple of popular characters they  did were Pete and Doug Peter Cook and Dudley Moore   made movies too they were in the wrong box that  was in 1966 and also bedazzled in 1967 in the   mid to late 70s they put out some comedy albums  that were pretty popular but all during this time   Dudley continued to his career as a jazz musician  performing many many concerts and he even had his   own trio he was married four times to actresses  Suzie Kendall and Tuesday Weld and also he was   married to Brogan Lane and Nicole Rothschild  during those two marriages he had two sons he had   a son with Tuesday Weld born in 1976 and he had a  son with Nicole Rothschild in 1995 in 1975 after   he married Tuesday Weld he moved to California and  decided to try to make it big in America and he   was in some movies the first real notable movie he  was in was foul play in 1978 that was the one with   Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase didn't have a big part  in it but it was a you know what he tad was really   good then also he did the movie ten which was  directed by Blake Edwards that was in 1979 and of   course his big hit was Arthur in 1981 and in that  he was in that with Liza Minnelli and John Gielgud   and he was even Oscar nominated for that but he  didn't win Henry Fonda beat him out for on Colton   ponds other movies followed he did six weeks  with I think that was with Mary Tyler Moore 1982   lovesick in 83 and faithful years in 84 and McKean  mod also in 84 one of the worst movies he ever   made was Santa Claus the movie in 1985 1985 that  was a big bomb he tried to do the Arthur thing   again with Arthur - in 1988 and that didn't turn  out well so his movie career kind of faded and he   tried to get some TV work going he did a couple  of shows for CBS 1993 did Dudley and in 1994 he   was in a show called daddy's girls and they were  both cancelled but he this whole time he continued   continued doing concerts and musical programs  he actually was fired from the Barbra Streisand   movie the mirror has two faces for not being able  to remember his lines this was the beginning of a   conditioning he had eventually caused his death  in 1997 he had heart bypass surgery so he was   not doing so well his mind was failing him and  a lot of people thought he was doing drugs or he   was drunk but he actually had a condition that was  later diagnosed as progressive supe super nuclear   palsy that was eventually the thing that caused  the the pneumonia that caused his death near the   end of his life he moved in with a friend of his  who was a music critic and also a pianist her name   was Rena frucht or her and her husband had a house  in Plainfield New Jersey and they took Dudley in   she had been friends with him for a few years  and so he did Lee was actually living in their   basement for a while but after a time this put a  big stress on the frick their family so he ended   up buying the house next door to their theirs  that's where he eventually died in that in that   home next door but he did receive the in 2001 he  was awarded commander of the Order of the British   Empire CBE and he traveled to England to accept  the award from Prince Charles but this whole time   he was in a wheelchair and he really couldn't  speak and then on the morning of March 27 2002   as I said earlier because of pneumonia caused by  the palsy he died in Plainfield New Jersey marina   Fricker was said to be holding his hand when he  died and she reported his final words where I can   hear the music all around me war was then buried  at the hillside Cemetery and Scotch Plains New   Jersey which wasn't far from where he was living  at the time they have a beautiful since memorial   stone there for him it's a sad story and he had  a great talent and he did come to a saddening you
