Egyptians on April 13 2023 the official Facebook page of the former Egyptian king farook the First's family announced the passing of Princess Nevine Abbas haleem at the age of 93. this Princess once again stared memories of the bygone era today I will introduce to you the legendary life of this beautiful Egyptian princess Nevine Abbas haleem was born on June 30 1930. she was the eldest daughter of Prince Abbas haleem the grandson of Mohammed Ali Pasha and taweeda madot she also had a sister named olvia and a brother named Mohammed Ali during World War One Prince Abbas haleem fought with the German air force becoming a fighter pilot he later joined the ottoman Air Force after the war ended he settled in Egypt Prince Abbas haleem was renowned for his sympathy and love for the Egyptian people especially the workers and peasants during his small City hash's tenure as prime minister of Egypt Prince Abbas haleem frequently wrote open letters in newspapers criticizing social issues and cautioning the Prime Minister against policies that could harm the country's well-being subsequently when his cousin King Foo had the first learned of these actions he grew Furious leading to the imprisonment of Prince Abbas haleem and the revocation of his Noble titles it was only after Abbas haleem initiated a hunger strike that sparked widespread worker protests that he was eventually from her mother such as not using foul language and the importance of being polite at that time the Egyptian Royal Family's regulations stipulated that princesses could not leave the palace to attend school outside before the age of 18. instead they had specialized teachers come to their homes to provide education however when Princess Nevine Abbas haleem reached the age of 15. her mother allowed her to attend school outside the princess went to an English School located in heliopolis Egypt to study in preparation for University later she enrolled at the American University in Cairo for her studies despite frequent political disagreements between princess Nevin Aber saleem's father and the then Egyptian king farook she often had the opportunity to see the king in various settings the princess later recalled that due to her father being the chairman of the automobile club at the time she frequently encountered the king at the automobile club she also often saw the king drinking juice near the opera house and the pyramids the princess also mentioned that the king often ate a lot however unless on special occasions and celebrations their family would only be invited to the king's Palace the princess also mentioned that she visited the king's Palace only twice in her lifetime after the 1952 Revolution the property of Princess never in Abbas haleem's family was confiscated and the entire family faced significant economic difficulties they didn't have enough resources to maintain a comfortable and luxurious lifestyle due to concerns about the Egyptian situation at the time her mother moved to the United States later the princess married her University classmate Salah aloribai after marriage they lived in a modest apartment with low rent in the Middle District the couple didn't have children as the princess had undergone heart surgery that rendered her unable to conceive due to her husband's unwillingness to work outside the marriage ended in divorce after six years the princess did not remarry afterward later in an interview the princess mentioned that the revolution took everything from her father the government provided him with a pension of no more than 25 Egyptian pounds per month forcing him to sell the furniture in the shaders Palace in Alexandria to make ends meet however due to her father's previous assistance to Sadat after Sadat became the president of Egypt he allowed her father to return to his former residence shaders Palace After the Revolution people who were once very close to her family pretended not to know them and were afraid to visit anyone who knew the princess's family refused to offer her job opportunities later the princess realized that she couldn't continue living in Egypt so having already divorced at the time she sold her wedding ring to fund her travels in 1961 she left Egypt and went to Switzerland to study secretarial and typing courses not long after a newly established cigarette company in Switzerland needed to hire a secretary who could speak German and English the princess applied for the job and was successfully hired later she continued to work as a secretary at this company and gradually Advanced within the company until she retired in 1994. someone once asked her how it felt to be both the secretary and a princess at a Swiss company the princess explained that initially her former identity as an Egyptian princess was not known to her colleagues in the company it wasn't until a colleague from Egypt inquired whether she knew Abbas haleem to which she replied that he was her father afterward the entire company staff became aware that one of their colleagues was a former Egyptian princess nonetheless princess Nevine Abbas haleem expressed that she was very content with her job as everyone focused on their work rather than bombarding her with questions eventually the princess worked at the company for a total of 25 years princess Nevine Abbas haleem began writing journals at the age of eight making a habit of documenting everything that happened around her later she compiled her journals alongside those of her mother and grandmother along with some Royal customs and traditions into a book ultimately this book was published under the title Diaries of an Egyptian princess on May 29 2010 princess Nevine Abbas Helene held a book signing event for her new book Diaries of an Egyptian princess at the Alexandria library after retiring the princess primarily resided in shaders Palace in Alexandria Egypt and lausanne Switzerland she spent her days browsing computer Pages watching television and engaging in extensive reading the princess even possessed a library with around 3 000 books her servants said that she had a deep fondness for flowers and a genuine passion for life cherishing every day and moment until the end of her life
