The laziest truck camper setup (Fall truck camping + a camper tour)

I will admit I already took my maiden voyage in the truck camper without you guys I don't know if anybody remembers my very first SP that I camped in the bus last summer I found that really dreamy campsite right down by the river but I had to drive my motorcycle down a really sketchy road to get there basically ever since that day I've been consumed with thinking about like a camper that could make it down to that spot not thinking at all that I would ever actually have one but of course as soon as I got this I had to shoot on up to Jackson to see if I could make it down there more importantly back up and I could and it was awesome but I consider that trip kind of a trial run I have since made quite a few upgrades to the camper which I'll show you later so I'm excited to I guess I'm really just doing a second trial run I was supposed to do a really big trip this week just really breaking the camper but ran into some conflict so I'm going to go on just like a spontaneous little camping trip words I never would have uttered when I was in the bus anyway I got to get some groceries okay one notable difference from the bus is that I have to be very intentional about planning my meals and my shopping at least for stuff that goes in the fridge she says that she packs not one but two unnecessary drinks you might have thought the bus fridge was small I'm on my way to one of my favorite little spots around here I used to go up there and just hang out in my hammock and like edit videos and stuff back when I lived here but I've never actually spent the night [Music] there [Music] I was here not even a week ago and it was obviously very pretty but like fall has fallen since then am I going to freeze tonight [Music] [Music] [Music] so I came here with basically no agenda just I was going to come out here and enjoy myself that's it but I meant to stop before I left town and get a lighter cuz I don't have one and I forgot to do that so I guess now I have an agenda with one item figure out if I can start my little fire using the flame from my camp stove so I bought one of these solo stoves like the little tabletop ones and I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing because when I think about it buying a container to store your fire in then also buying stuff to burn in that fire container is absolutely absurd but on the other hand I just lived in a bus for a year and a half spent countless nights at campsites and never built a single campfire so chances are I'm going to continue to be too lazy to do that so I guess I'm going to make it easier for myself to have a little bit of fire despite its absurdity but also look how pretty it [Music] is I just realized I don't have a table we'll deal with that later so I'm saing all my so it seems like I am able to light this I'm not actually going to light one right now just wanted to make sure that I could I didn't need to go back to to town you know smells kind of Christmasy [Music] somehow I'm not sure where I should put it now two questions are you guys ready for the tour and can you even hear me over this raging waterfall last time that you guys saw the camper I had just finished painting it there was nothing inside it wasn't even finished being painted on the inside that part is still true but I made quite a few little upgrades first and most importantly I have a door now I built this door all by myself and completely out of scraps other than the hardware and I got to say I'm pretty proud of myself it is the trashiest looking thing anyone has ever seen living or dead ever especially from the inside but you know what it's fine it's keeping the bugs out hopefully soon it'll be keeping at least most of the weather out so far it hasn't been and it makes me feel like I can leave my bedding in there while I drive without feeling like the air is all going to lotion and suck it out on the freeway you know I'm happy with it I have a trip a pretty big trip coming up where I'm at least the plan is to mostly stay in here though the further into the fall this trip keeps getting pushed back the less and less likely that seems but anyway back door it latches with these little guys and it stays up by itself although this is not the appropriate Hardware I don't think and it was also completely Jerry rigged completely by me so I probably need to adjust that but it works for now it's at least not falling and hitting my head all the time what more can I ask for the door is my tri my camera's just propped on top of the tripod for stupid reasons that I'm not going to explain the door is obviously the biggest upgrade but in addition to that we now have instead of C clamps the camper is bolted into the truck which is great for my peace of mind I also have this bed platform now it's very very basic it's just built out of Highwood and 2x4s I didn't want to do anything too fancy because I don't think this is how it'll be in the end assuming I ever actually finish this to the way it is in my head this isn't really the setup I'm going to have so I didn't want to put too much work into it I put this together in like probably an hour so it just kind of rests on the wheel wells and it's just exactly high enough for my fridge to slide out underneath I have my camp stove that you guys already saw I have this fridge yes I did decide to be bougie and and do a fridge instead of just a cooler because like we discussed I'm lazy and like the thought of having to get ice for my food is enough to make me say like Oh e it I don't even want to go camping so I decided I was going to get the fridge and it's great I tested it out with my big Power Station when I went to Jackson and it lasted I I was gone for like four straight days and it powered the fridge that whole time and then I still was at like 30% when I got home so that's confirmed that I made the right choice in my mind oh should I try this weird water I feel like I'm not going to like this cuz why who likes sparkling water beverages it's just so pretty oh I take it back that has a that's there's flavor in that eventually what I'm envisioning is like you know the pull out kitchen pull out storage situation that a lot of people have this works for now sort of but these are the only things I keep in here because they all everything except the fridge this is my second version of the bed platform and I changed it this time so the fridge cannot slide back but everything else still can and it's like basically impossible to get it once it slides up to the front so right now I keep just everything just piles and piles and piles of stuff especially cuz I don't have a house right now there's just so much stuff piled into the cap of the truck which is uh a nightmare and it's chaotic and it's like bring me back to when I first moved into the bus but having said that I still doubt I'm going to get this drawer system done or even started anytime soon there's too much else on the agenda got other projects on my mind as we step inside or rather shimmy inside we come to the bedroom as you can already see that is assuming you give a I'm going for a lot less buttoned up look in the bedroom of the truck than I was in the bus this is a donated quilt probably made by somebody's grandmother I don't know who it came with my sister's house when she bought it and I got some nice plaid flannels for a I was going for a like intentionally chaotic look with the pattern mixing I like it also who cares it's in the back of the truck great for me tonight because I took my big blankets out of the dryer as I was leaving there's some distinct damp spots I think although it's like the level of dampness that I can't tell if it's actually damp or if it's just cold yeah that's it other than the final last touch is this little Adhesive Light from Amazon right here turns on like that it even has a dimmer which I didn't realize very fancy yeah that's it that's the tour 24 g of sugar might as well just drink a soda such deceiving branding I don't really know what to do with myself I thought this was going to happen I wanted to do the little tour and the filming of that took longer than I was expecting and now the part has hit that I thought was GNA hit immediately where I'm like what what am I doing here it's not a bad thing oh especially not today it's such a good day some people are kind of bothered by the amount of space I have in here compared to the bus which is weird why do you care how much space I have if I'm not bothered you should not be bothered but more importantly for me the bus was too comfortable like if I'm going to be traveling around and seeing places that I haven't spent a ton of time in before I want to be not uncomfortable but just like sort of confronted with my surroundings and the in the bus I just was like oh I'm I'm in my house I could be in my house one day and then the next day 500 Miles later I still was just in my house you know obviously that's the whole point that's the perk of having a bus too and it was very awesome in many ways but I'm excited to travel in this thing and just be like I said confronted by my surroundings by the way I've said this before but I'm I'm pretty sure there's going to be confusion I don't plan to live in here this is not my house I will not at any point ever be living in here full [Music] time [Music] oh [Music] [Music] you guys been getting this sinking feeling all afternoon and I so I just crawled under my covers to see how everything looking and everything's wet and I don't think it's warm enough for me to be able to deal with that so I think I am chickening out and bailing which is kind of a bummer but I'm going to try to come back tomorrow all right take two headed back up much better prepared this time hopefully all my bedding is dry through and through this time I got a friend right behind me here's hoping round two is a little bit better did you see some fish yeah yesterday I did oh I see [Music] [Music] guys oh now we got this [Music] clips [Music] my coffee is milk for [Music] tomorrow [Music] this one's bigger if we had more friends we could come here [Music] [Music] for it's a little [Music] over we made it back to the cutest Campsite in the [Music] world TR to get our fire started back up eh yeah I'll tell you what I kind of wanted to bail last night because we kept thinking that we were hearing something in the woods and I'm a weed I just made Hannah sleep with me in the truck instead of in her tent instead just playing it wasn't even that cold like it was cold not cold enough not to be able to sleep Camp is all broken down gosh I love this [Music] spot that was nice I'm glad we stayed I was so spooked this was a good little trial run because I was about to just hop in my car I go multiple states away and I was going to camp in my truck the whole time I did it and now cautious about that plan because of two things is that this reminded me the last time I lived in my car and the real downside of the car versus the bus is that I get so spooked it's not about like space or amenities or anything like that so much cuz I'm not planning to live live in here just get really spooked about animals so that's going to to be the issue another issue is that it is so cold I don't know if I realized how cold it is in early October um and what I'm worried about more than the sleeping at night temperatures is the very long dark nights in the chilly evenings where I'm it's not late enough to be in bed but it's just freezing and dark so I'm going to have to my plan was to just hit the road and not really plan that much and I might have to revisit that plan because yeah I don't know if that's going to work for the next two to three [Music] weeks
