kidding oh man this is it the last two hours uh yeah for this stream if this is your first time being here welcome uh and yeah just welcome and this is the last one i don't know what i'm going to be doing on this stream uh i tried to schedule some things i try to figure out what do i do but that's me i'm always like flying by the seat of my pants from these streams and it's like let's just see what i can teach what i and review what i've learned over the week and give it back to the community without any expectations and that's it oh sweet youtube is saying audio streams current bitrate is zero can you all hear me we're starting off well anyways uh yeah i guess this let's say hi to everyone in the live chat it's like feeling like a reunion a no code community reunion because man uh first in the door mosh is back wow welcome back rock is here thank you so much rock gerard is here say it ain't so it is so it is unexplained why if you haven't heard the news i'll explain soon on why nice shirt zara i got it for um upcoming uh wedding i'm going to friend's wedding and i'm like i need a a nice shirt to end this off right where can oh yeah i bought that so the first time wearing it so yay uh roger please share the news i have not heard you will hear soon nikki is here jeremy's back scott levin you're back uh yeah yeah yeah yeah okay let's look at my stream notes all right so uh usually on these streams we talk about uh mostly webflow stuff no code stuff and um a bit of like any motivation or things that i've learned philosophy sometimes because i really get into my head but uh whatever you want to do if you want to learn something hey and also now you do this and if i can quickly teach it i will um if you want to do a speed building challenge i don't know um at the end of the stream um we'll have to figure it out okay uh yeah jake can you quickly spin up a click up form where it has people's full name and email address so that we can do this raffle because i want to give away three no code conference tickets right and how it'll work is you'll have to buy it yourself but then if you win i just send me a receipt and then i will pay you i i will pay for that ticket cool so let's um yeah so we'll we'll do that and jake when you're done getting that i know it's live we should have prepped but i'm sorry uh once you're done getting that form up i think that's all we need first full name and email address yeah and your email address has to be your your your paypal one yeah so i'll just send it through paypal it has to be your paypal email address um so yeah send me uh so once you're done jake go ahead and link uh pin it to the to the chat and that's how we'll uh raffle it off at the end and um yeah cool thank you jake i appreciate everything you do for this stream i can't pin it but i'll post and you can pin okay okay um so why why and why is this the last pixel geek live stream well if you haven't heard starting august 9th i will be the senior product evangelist with the focus of community and live streams over at webflow but nelson i thought you already were kinda kinda but not officially see in 2013 i was already evangelist of webflow let me see if i can pull up my first reddit post real quick let me see reddit.com yep here we go so in 2013 we're going down memory lane this is okay yeah this stream is just memory lane how about that all right um okay no go back there uh so i posted this eight years ago i just got into webflow beta played with it for an hour and my honest opinion is it's so damn good at this time when i was posting i was at a different job of obviously i was a court out of a corporate job and i was using photoshop to mock up designs dry erase board for wireframes then go to photoshop demo designs export the assets out of photoshop and then hand code everything in sublime when i first got to that job i was actually using dreamweaver and my co-workers are like why are you using that you're sublime no one uses dreamweaver if you're a professional and i'm like oh okay so i went into sublime and just hand coded everything and man it was tough especially when trying to make responsive design and then animations and custom slides oh it was tough and so when webflow came out at that time it was pitched as a landing page builder you can only make one page no multiple pages no cms no interaction then nothing no cus you can't even put custom code it was very basic but the fact that it was coding html and css blew my mind and i needed to tell the world if you heard this story already sorry but going down memory lane um so i've been an evangelist ever since and um and like here look uh call me a skeptic but this whole post and some of the reply seems really forced this as well as a link to webflow currently at the top at the moment it's making me think the whole thing is games so when i evangelize something when i want to tell someone about something that i'm really jazzed up about you know me by now if you've been watching this channel or know me personally i go crazy i'm like dude look it's the thing and yeah it can kind of come off as like too much like calm down and even i don't know which founder wrote this but yeah i understand your skepticism we found out about this post a day later had nothing to do with it um so yeah i don't know who wrote that but yeah i was just like oh my god it's amazing and uh let's see here um let me see here the one that like gets me now like eight years ago is it possible to do cms not yet but now you can and then um let me see here where is it where is it where is it is it this one oh if you've been using photoshop to export html i don't think you're qualified um where is it [Music] there is one come on oh there you go this guy called it eight years ago this guy called in move over muse he he's a he's a prophet oh man uh seems super interesting uh there he goes that's the one i'll reserve judgment and so yeah it's hard to tell the future i'm not like these people if any of these people see this stream they probably won't but um i'm not trying to put you on blast i'm just saying things change things change i could have been super wrong but i was an evangelist from the start and then into the and then and because i was evangelist you know i just needed to tell the world and then finally when i got the job at webflow thankfully at 2015 i was like i need to tell more people and more people and more people and so now finally um after honestly evangelizing it with my heart and and seeing how pure the community is and can be i said you know i need to keep helping people keep helping people from 2015 to 2019 i was doing the live streams i did over a hundred live streams on the official webflow channel and they cut it business reasons and it made me very depressed confused and i was blaming myself i probably wasn't doing the right thing i wasn't getting enough number i don't i don't know but i was blaming myself but the thing that kept me going was my heart for the community because the community is what saved me from my previous job and it's the community that i always want to give back to and so i started these live streams on my personal channel and said i'm not gonna stop teaching in my way so i did and these streams have been going on ever since until today because my first task is going to be bringing back the quarterly live streams with vlad and they're going to come back in a bigger way i don't know how but imagine if these live streams have the resources the budget and the team of the web flow education team you know the people who do the web flow official tutorials on university.webflow.com mcguire grimmer sarah stacy miguel um and uh there's there's more new people like imagine that that's what's gonna happen and so i'm not done doing these live streams it's just that we are shifting over to [Music] youtube.com webflow so that's what's happening um yeah starting august 9th is when i start my role when is the first live stream with me back we're still planning i want to do it sooner than later obviously but you know baby steps another reason why is i wanted i was trying to find a way to get back my weekends i love the community here this little community that we've built up but also i love my family and i need to take care of myself more during this uh these these two years i've gained weight uh and my knees and when uh walking up the stairs holding up my daughter my knees have been hurting and so um i i got a physical therapist which is nice but i need to work on my homework for that you know she wants me to go biking more stretching more my hips are always tight uh i have no glutes i have no butt muscles i need to get back in shape and or i need to get stronger because i need to keep up with my daughter so you know mental health physical health um and so be being able to live stream on the official webflow channel during work hours is a dream that i didn't let go of and now that i get to do it my weekends are mine again and coincidentally the weekends are yours too so you don't have to be here so uh yeah man there's so many messages in the chat i can't keep up uh sarah is here welcome back george georgie aaron roger yes oh gosh so many people light work so yeah thank you for your support that's that's why that is why um so yeah um thing let me hold on messages from jake let's see here question from penny do you do we need to have purchased our no code conf ticket to be able to be eligible for the draw no you don't have to buy your ticket it's like i say if you're kind of on the fence of buying your ticket then wait to see if you win and then if you do win then yeah buy your ticket and then send me the receipt and if you don't win then you didn't buy your ticket there's a free ticket anyways you can join virtually um but yeah good question penny um yeah any any important questions jake just go ahead and dm me uh aaron can't stay too long but thank you for everything you've done wouldn't stream if it wasn't for you proud of you proudly aaron aaron is a awesome streamer like he if you haven't click his name and subscribe to automate all the things he is doing wonderful things there for the no code community um yeah so uh georgie here's an idea if you decide to create freelancers journey 2.0 please like super please make a section about health i think it's yes there should be a chapter on a work-life balance and the hustle culture is fake you know something like that hello thank you um i want to go to no code conference mostly to see and talk to nelson again if you go to the conference i would like to meet you high fives elbow bumps fist bumps maybe a hug yeah i hope to see you all there um brian finish therapy session before jumping on the screen taking care of yourselves number one yes yes like i i am the type who wants to give to the point where i don't help myself and i have to keep reminding myself if i'm not well enough to give back to the community then what's the whole point all right uh so there's a lot of things i want to talk about from what i've learned in these past eight years or my whole web design career i don't know if we should go into that or if you want to learn something or you know what you guys want to do one thing that would be really cool is to um is to look through my youtube channel and uh go back in time and look through my first videos eight years yeah i've been using webflow for eight years i've been web designing since i was 13 i'm 39 now so do the math yeah um ole how much will the new stream uh resemble your old streams i'm so i've told mcguire i said these streams need to stay honest and empathetic i keep saying those two words honesty and empathy if i mess up that's a good thing because people see that's honest people mess up in when building websites and webflow all the time but how do we work or find a workaround or how do we ask questions you are a stronger person if you ask for help rather than not asking for help to show that you need help shows you are stronger than those who are afraid to ask for help to say like oh i'm too good the people who say i'm too good to ask for help no no no we everyone needs help so let's show the honesty happy belated birthday thank you so much clemen what's the best website to get animated illustrations thanks uh oh i think i just saw one uh pablo linked it so obviously there's a lot of files that's free and you can download lottie files and then put them into webflow and you can control that using webflow interactions and there's lord icons that's a new one or lord icon.com and it's there's a free version and a premium version but animated icon library that's all lottie so it looks really cool is this webflow oh it's not webflow loop morph oh morph two ways that's cool yeah hey good is here what's up eunice is back yeah so check those two places out lottie opening up the door for so many things um yeah and in my new role i'm hoping to do more with the community like again with all the resources of the education team and their support imagine what we can do together imagine how high we can prop up the community because the community is what built and supported webflow from 2013 and so how can we prop that up higher because it's all you all it's all you want um yeah so where do we go from here congrats frank what's up happy for you in the community we all win yes we all win we all win but life is supposed to be bittersweet you can't hold on to anything forever there's no such thing as forever especially in the whole universe airtable is what what dude aaron thanks for telling your colleagues to hop on over everyone say hi airtable um but yeah you can't hold on to anything forever nothing lasts and i'm learning that more and more as a as a father um and in this career too so where do we go from here you want to look at some old you want to see me react to some old uh youtube videos that i've made or should i go into philosophy and talk about things that i've learned uh so far in my career do you want to learn something webflow like someone speak up in chat ray uh you rock star and deserve the best thank you thank you for your support i'm assuming webflow will email blast us announcing your official first stream uh i'm assuming too again i have to i haven't even started my role i have to get with the marketing team because they're the ones who handle email blasts and then i have to meet the rest of the education team and see how things run but um all good things all good things amen how did you start your career uh when i was 13 a middle school friend uh i think yeah we're playing uh warcraft 2 uh over dial up uh dial up internet and uh next you know he was like hey by the way i made a member page on aol america online wiki if you don't know what that is uh and i was like what it was just a white background black text times new roman that said hi i'm irwin i'm 13 years old and my hobbies are da da da da there's no images no tables nothing it was just i was like how did you create that on your computer and then you're able to send that to me and i can see it on my computer and it's just a spark that was my spark and i was like oh show me more and then i met other friends who are making web pages too on geocities and i was like i gotta do this and then a friend said hey i got photoshop and i know how to make rounded corners on boxes i was like yo that's amazing how do you do that and then someone showed me uh uh was a spade like the playing cards icon the spade or was it a clover one of those and he made it bounce like a like a beating heart type of animation and i was like oh flash what is this i gotta learn this it's and that's what i love about the internet it just keeps new tool new code news hardware new something is always on the horizon and there's a never ending source of things to learn and i'm like i'm in it for the ride and so that's how i started i just kept building and building because it was a it was fun she figured to miss your streams thank you i've redesigned your pixel logo oh you did all right um i haven't checked my email in a while oh i gotta do that but i'll i'll look for it thank you eunice have you already a date for your first stream not yet again i start in the role august 9th so maybe sometime soon after that but again um uh i there's a lot of planning it's not gonna be like these streams okay that's for sure it's not gonna be me going hey guys what do you want to do today i don't think webflow would like bed i i honestly don't like that myself because it's like there's only a few times you can do that where people be like plant something already do something because when you plan then more fun things happen and things go more smoothly rather than just like let's wing it like i'm doing right now um i wanted to start watching his streams a few days ago but i hope no i hope i hop on a nelson train too late it's okay go to youtube.com webflow and you can hop on there all right um has anyone said what we should be doing how long will giveaway stay live my paypal was blocked but i would like to apply too um i mean um as long as early bird tickets are still available because early bird tickets are 300 bucks and like if i just leave it open forever and next thing you know i have to pay like i don't know 600 bucks a ticket for the winners and it's like so let's just do that uh my pleasure daniel all right so let's see here let's take uh yeah let's let's take a gander yeah i don't think you'll be able to hear it but let's look at my old videos hold on so i don't have my audio from my laptop going into yeah how do i do no i'm not going to screw up this setup no i don't have my laptop's audio sending to my streaming pc so fyi if you you don't if you want to understand how i do these streams i actually have two things going um can i make this bigger okay whatever so the audio from this laptop like this is where i am right now so my so whenever i work on webflow during these streams i'm actually on this and this is feeding a video signal to my stream pc and the stream pc is what's pulling in my dslr which you guys are at right now and then also my microphone my light my yeah everything so audio video is on this side but like this is only video so that's why it's going to be hard to hear these videos but um let's take a trip down memory lane just to show you uh that if you're interested in in teaching which i think you should teach whatever you learn no matter how small you think it is someone will like to learn from you because you have a different approach to teaching you have a unique approach if your approach is honest then people will flock to it don't worry about numbers just hit record or go live all right so um let me bump up the volume here i don't know if this is gonna work hey come on okay let's let's turn this off do i have slack running yeah i do let's turn this off too okay cool and let's turn off zoom let's bump this up no wait here what am i not going to be able to hear this hold on hi okay is that feeding into here hold on let's see here all right let's play to help you help make the web more beautiful hold on i think i need to move my move my camera yeah let me do that let me move this let's move you over there okay and all right this was like what is it an oh look at this look at that logo what is that why like this is the p and then there's like pixels okay it looks like a a little character there i guess it'll work whatever but yeah look at the potato quality oh i was thin back then oh i had to throw away that shirt it got old and ripped anyways all right let's go hi i'm the pixel geek and i want to help you help make the web more beautiful so you came up with that like a long time ago but um this was back when i was trying to convince people um why responsive design is like the next thing that you have to do like it makes it easier for the user but um i was just using slides what was i using like oh yeah i was using google slides wait i did a review holy crap and here's how you can test it we'll go to regal's website and if you pretend that your web browser is like a tablet by making your browser window thinner you'll see that nothing shifts if you make it as thin as possible like say a mobile phone nothing shifts again so this website is not responsive oh man yeah so see the webflow was the reason so two reasons why i wanted to start this youtube channel one webflow but two i learned webflow at a conference or design conference and i was like i want to tell people about webflow on stage how do i do that um this is scary and i actually uh i took public speaking classes because of webflow because i'm like i need to tell more people so uh i actually did a i went to a meet up and uh applied to become a speaker and yeah he got to be a speaker but then only six people showed up six people the host the person who just opens open the door and whatnot and then two people um two people showed up um that were really interested no three people showed up were really interested but two of those people left in the middle of my talk and the last two people was my wife and her best friend for moral support so i was so nervous i was wearing like i'm like dressed up as really nice well somewhat decent like i had like the the suit jacket with um elbow pads on it you know um i wanted to look very presentable but again if if you just go out there trying to teach people what you love it doesn't matter how many people stay if one person stayed you've done your job that's just one that's i i started these streams with one person watching was probably my mom but yeah just do it just yeah um let's see here um i actually did this video because it was me getting angry at websites that looked really bad and had bad user experience oh god a bad user experience um and i don't think they've changed union tribune san diego but um but yeah um i realized that after doing two of these whack website wednesdays it didn't feel right to make fun of them whoever made the site because it doesn't really help when you're being negative all the time and so i did like two of these videos and then i felt bad i was like okay i'm done with that i'm done doing that um but then and this still and will always be the oh my god that desk is so dirt messed up and cluttered um this will always be the first ever web flow review video and this was like kind of my response to that person i was like no photoshop will um no one will take the rain from photoshop for web design i was like i'm gonna make a video about it i'll show you but dude look look look at the ui of webflow my god oh it kind of didn't change here it did you still have these two um yeah and then you have the templates below yeah it looks the same georgie i feel that my first public speech was embarrassing as heck just three people did those three people did one of those three people stay or did all three stay if so you win um yeah pre-positioned elements or what i like to do starting from scratch i did that so much especially during live streams that my wife got annoyed and she was like you do that too much that's that's me thinking that's my sound effect for thinking and so i was more um aware of it as i kept streaming to the point i got it out of my system so i'm glad i you know don't do that anymore dude look at the ui look oh my god it's such a baby such a baby tool look at that um export code publish preview home page was this when you can do multiple pages i think so because this is october but anyways and the layout the all the css was on the on the right um but yeah look we still have container and columns can we remove those please wait look how oh my god it's old um okay this hasn't changed and the fact that i can build that like during that time without coding just like blew my mind but yeah oh yeah you can do look at believe that look at that um yeah you can put custom code at that time but look how basic it is now well before it was eight dollars a month but you get so much now cool yeah my first and the first web flow review video oh i made three whack wednesdays okay all right but like after that like uh um yeah i just i just had so much to say because i'm like i'm learning these things i need to tell people i need to tell people about it and so that's what i did that's what i did and then right here um oh and this this one right here i i want to do an updated version of this because it still makes me think i tell people about um what i call ux kitchen and people are like oh yeah yeah if you think about ux as a kitchen that makes sense um this was just me trying to tell comic-con that hey your your website you need to fix it it's so confusing but and then i decided to brand and like okay i need to i need to give myself a name and so i called it creative space and then after that um created like a interview series called the focus but luckily during the focus number two because i was such a big fan of webflow i was able to get bryant on zoom and interview him and then from there on episode 10 vlad and then um let's see here if you notice from here six years ago to this which is three years ago what happened what happened that's when i got hired by webflow and i stopped and then i wanted to teach more and so i did and so yeah so i guess moral of the story just hit record just go live just do it you don't need pro software you don't need pro uh equipment just i mean you can use your phone to live stream i think nowadays right you can use your phone as a webcam there's ways but yeah just do it just do it um jeremy that's awesome thank you thank you where do we go from here guys what else would you like to learn what else can i do for you for this last stream again this is just flying off the seat of my pants i don't know what to do i can talk more about what i've learned in my career and i can get really deep into that um why am i still wearing these well actually i want to give a shout out oh and if you want to get on the stream actually yeah let's do that i'm going to share the link to a zoom room and then just answer your questions live let's let's do that yeah zoom room go for it but first i'm gonna get jake on the call jake you ready nod maybe oh all right let's see here am i gonna do this right i need to switch to interview oh yes it worked hi jake hey how's it going what's going on yep um if you don't know who jake is jake is my wonderful live stream producer he's been helping me out with these live streams for for a while before jake it was colleen who now helps out with the live streams over at finn suite thank you so much colleen um and then when colleen moved over to finn suite jake stepped up and super duper helped and so if the stream goes uh smoothly uh pointing the other way yeah that's the guy that's why giving me too much credit [Laughter] um and and yeah introduce yourself jake um and say hi to the community so was not expecting to be on the spot see we do things smoothly so if i turn a little red too late that's why uh yeah no i um gosh i started using webflow like two and a half years ago my friend matt who's now my boss over at 80 20. he was telling me about webflow and yeah i was just kind of blown away it actually helped me get my job at my previous uh at my previous job and so uh yeah it was pretty cool um and been kind of a game changer for me and so um yeah but i can relate to since you're like a couple weeks older than me uh i can relate to getting started in middle school with you know web design and uh graphic design and stuff like that and so um geocities and yeah all that fun stuff did you put a web counter on your geo savings page oh yeah like i would check it every time every day before school during high school i would check it and i had this one friend only one friend who um built a page in uh geocities and we'd always be competing like ooh i got i got 94 visits even though you can refresh it on your own i love it i love it and i just it's fun to see you know other people that can relate because uh yeah there's people you know like matt who's uh quite a bit younger than me and so can't relate to the fun that we had in the early days those were fun dude those were fun like the web was like was just being born and like animated gifs everywhere in the word art and i remember the exact moment like writing my first line of html um in middle school and just like you know this is back in the day when it takes like you know a few minutes for just a single gift to load just watch it like start super fuzzy and blurry and then slowly come into which side of the browser war were you on netscape or internet explorer oh gosh oh man i think yeah i don't think i was a fan of netscape to be honest um but uh i actually i actually talking to you yeah no how dare you uh i actually did uh customer support for aol in high school on the like phone support and i remember like people would have to disconnect from the the call to go try out you know and see if it worked so i i was always like um whenever somebody had two lines i'd be like man i gotta wait for them to like connect and try it out uh but my wife is here i gotta tell her jake used to work for aol customer support on the phone and so whenever they're having problems they would have to disconnect from the call and to call them back no no oh my god if you'd call waiting would jake get kicked off because you know when sometimes when you call someone that's on aol and you keep calling them they get kicked off i probably had a better phone system than that but like yeah yeah yeah but i do remember those days where i'd be online and then somebody would try to make a phone call at home and uh kick me off dude i didn't know that about you that's awesome well super empathy for the user now that you know how it's like to be a customer sport man well i mean thank you for everything you've done in the past and then now you're helping people with automations at 80 20 no you're not doing automation 80 20 you're uh yeah i'm on the kind of the business development side of things at 80 20. um but uh which is new for me and kind of expanding my my bounds but uh but since i'm you know familiar with all the the no code tools um you know that's kind of what helps with that i don't feel like i'm selling snake oil yeah exactly it's like i believe in what we're doing and so it's it's easy um but yeah and then i'm trying i've got two more videos that i need to record before before my birthday in august so uh i'm probably gonna do some work on that uh tomorrow but i'm gonna try to talk about the uh actually the pixel geek community voting page and uh how to set something up like that with jetboost and click up and integromat so but yeah you got me to hit record and just go for it and uh by the way thank you for this mic you're welcome most generous guy ever so yeah any way to help support you just to to help you click record and fyi there's going to be a time when you're trying to record episode 7 episode 23 episode some prime number and you're like i don't i don't want just hit record just just hit record even if the recording sucks you know um if there's at least a small tidbit of something that someone can learn throw it out there yeah you know i mean my last dream what did anyone learn i hope they learned a little bit but like they learned it was my birthday so yeah that was the main takeaway that was so bad but i hit record i hit stream like just go for it yeah that was good well thank you so so much jake for everything you've done for this community and i can't wait for you to publish your next video and maybe one day we'll see you on a um interview on the official webflow channel talking about oh that'd be fun 80 20 and how you guys do stuff um can you imagine uh matt like is he's taking the call but from his phone while on his motorcycle oh yeah we are also yeah not i was gonna say we're uh twins as far as our little spacex [Laughter] emblem yeah emblem on our cars yeah uh well thank you so much i'm gonna get raymar in here now sounds good do i need to do anything to i'll just uh jessica says bye see you all right i'll just uh boot you from the room okay thank you bye oh i click report no i don't want to report him what okay there we go okay i press cancel on that report okay there we go raymar is here look at this good looking fella look at this guy with the gradients guy how are you what's up man hi sorry i i i'm no no cam today but uh oh okay i'm swinging and say hey finals hey you excited about going uh going back no not at all yeah i guess i have to for this community yes i'm uh i'm interested to see what y'all come up with me too again all i know is they want me back on the quarterly live streams of lead and how are we gonna do that up yeah yeah so just one more week uh until i start with the education team and so we'll we'll see what happens nice yeah so yeah that'll be oh i mean it's uh times is changing bro yeah and i appreciate you for you know for doing so much for the community when um things are going crazy as we all know that in 2019 my streams just cut and you picked it up doing crazy things uh over at fin suite if if you guys haven't subscribed to finnsuite's channel yet why click on finnsuite's name and then hit subscribe oh wait hold up am i on the youtube stream right now yeah i didn't know that's what's happening oh i'm i thought we were just i feel like people are just going to jump into the zoom and hang out with us all right what's up everybody on youtube you're used to being live oh yeah no i got no problem i just wasn't sure what's happening i was like wait why aren't more people joining it makes so much more sense now yeah because i was like uh is the raymar want anything else no that's funny what's up everybody yeah if anyone else wants to get on the call um yeah just jump in your time is now the spotlight is on yeah you have one last hour with me yeah when you were talking about doing a speed building challenge i was like damn i might want to do that well i mean we we can right now if you want but like i don't no one actually huh yeah i don't think i could i mean that's fine that's fine like again i didn't plan much for this i'm just like whatever hey that's how it goes i think that's fun that's some of the fun of this you know like that's it's just like hanging out but in like a digital world here a little bit you know he switched over to his pro mic that stuff just happens you know as it happens you're like oh i'm on stream i got to get on my pro mic yeah there we go now i got to get the nice deep dude um yeah i mean just like you might hang out on a regular day you just go out and hang out but like we're doing it virtually i don't know yeah kind of like gather town that fence we made in well you didn't make the outcome but you made a badass gather town instantly oh let's let's let's figure out how to get that thing like open 24 7 with like a hundred percent capacity so that like we could just host events in there all the time ah dude i'm with you here's what we're you were there when we were talking about it yeah like imagine people just being able to sign up always having events going in there literally every day of every hour somebody's doing something in there you just pop in and see what's happening exactly because no code uh no code community doesn't sleep i mean you should sleep but there's different parts of the world exactly right there's lots of people that don't get served by like you know u.s time zones and stuff we run into that all the time with our events exactly exactly so yeah i i would love to to see more people in there um you know i i try to throw as many ideas as possible but with the backing of the education team now at webflow who knows what will happen like i i'm just gonna keep saying this is why we need to do it for the community this is why we need to do this for the community this this this this this and this uh community first well we're prepping a pitch to follow up we're prepping the follow-up now that clone comp is done to um that webflow community alliance so we're trying to pin down that um follow-up meeting with vlad right now to kind of go through our plan for that so um yeah we're looking forward to figuring out how to work real closely with not only you but like a lot of other leaders in the community to do some some really cool [ __ ] hell yeah yeah yeah it uh and it's just it feels [Music] and now we're connected to the sound board too nice slowly but surely but it's funny because i was watching in the in the living room while i was just messing around you know uh-huh but yeah things are just kind of a mess right now and i'm not the camera's not set up properly so oh yeah that's why i didn't feel good and you're upgrading your your streaming pc right bro i don't even want to talk about that that's so frustrating when you have technical problems and you're like working up and hyping an event and then just [ __ ] just goes wrong and you're just like can you imagine one problem yeah no dude i couldn't even imagine streaming on the official webflow channel my first stream back and then everything is just i'd be like okay i resign i'm sorry i'm done yeah my biggest problem too is that like if it was just go get a better computer i'd be all in but i'm about to dip like i'm literally at the end of this month i'm my my uh lease is up and we're taking off like i'm just i'm gonna become like a little digital nomad and i've got a little portable streaming rig that i'm building and so like we're the house is kind of like we're packing things up we're putting a few things in storage we're selling everything else and literally we've got like a six-month road trip planned and if it goes well we'll probably like extend that and we're trying to film this documentary i know that i've told you about a couple times yeah so yeah we're trying to do some really cool uh really cool [ __ ] over the next few months if we can figure this out well i hope you get a starlink saddle uh yeah a starlink uh satellite so you can go we're hoping to find places in each yeah in each spot where we you know like just set up and we do an event we do some streaming we do some video we have a i have a buddy of mine coming out that's gonna film finn sweet streaming in 2023 24 from the official fin suite party boat using starlink yo we'll have a no code cruise boom right there i'm on joe's private yacht right on the sss fen suite dude this boat is effing sweet like [ __ ] what's up y'all i just opened the comments here no code cruise i would be in sadly you can't use starlink for uh mobley not yet but soon you can yeah it would be it would be cool yeah i don't know it's funny because we we went back and forth between like are we gonna do the digital van life or the the van life are we gonna you know we decided against that we're gonna like rent apartments in the different cities where we stay and nice um i don't know it's gonna be a wild little adventure so that's what life is yeah expect lots of videos um and it's gonna be cool to pick up where we left off after no code comp yeah cause we you know we started filming a bunch of stuff back then and then like covet hit and we weren't able to like go get anything else ever and so now yeah that ambition is just kind of like percolating back up and now we've got some real momentum so yeah it'll be fun to like experiment with some of that yeah that'd be cool yeah i like your documentary style like you did for the web the no code conf community day yeah so like more stuff like that behind the scenes like yes yeah make that happen wait till you see the story stuff we're planning i mean we're literally paying for a crew to come not a crew but like yeah it's to be two people and me uh yeah to come out and like get all the interviews we can get and then we're gonna try to tell some like real first-person perspective and we're gonna travel around to some of these different cities and as we host meetups we'll get interviews and we'll get a vibe for like that real community feel we'll see like what's really happening and like yeah just expect think anthony bourdain's no reservations but for no code yes yeah think like just sick what are people building on the ground but they don't stay sick right or is it like yeah yeah that's lit much you got it's like much much cool so live or something like that right isn't that abused i'm like i'm old but i know i don't know any of it i probably probably ruined it dude that is so radical that you're doing that and yes i said radical um that you're doing that um yeah no one has done that before and like yeah i've seen like interviews here and there but like not in the sense of like um no reservations type of way well and nobody's like everyone's doing just virtual interviews which is i really get the same thing is when you're like in the room with somebody and you get to talk to them for like an hour and you get deep you know yeah and and so like and then cutting that together with the little story so like let's say we pop into a town we meet a group that's running a cool little meetup and you know we follow the person while they're prepping while they're preparing behind the scenes you know like there's so much story there and so like we're all everyone's like focusing on tutorials and let me teach you and the tools are the tools are cool it's like yeah that's good but also the story behind it is fantastic thank you for doing people's lives are changing like like these tools like the ability to solve problems like this were just not available to the general public and now they are and it's just ridiculous you know like how often do you see somebody on twitter talking about i just made 50 million or 50 50 000 a month monthly recurring revenue or something like that i'm like excuse you know and even if it's 5000 or 3000 or 1000 whatever it is like people are building their low businesses and unplugging from the machine and becoming a little more independent financially and that's a beautiful thing yeah it is yeah keep making that happen thank you thank you for doing that yeah it's gonna be it's gonna be awesome yeah i'm like oh i should keep your avatar up yeah so people know who i'm talking to but uh thank you thank you for doing that um let's see here let me put the link yeah sorry to hijack your no dude i love you i love hearing what the community is doing and you're part of it and you're help propping it up and and giving great knowledge with the effing growth streams and and showing people what they can do with clone comp and now with this um if it's not called no reservations what would you call it you can't call it no code i don't want to reveal anything about the name because i'll tell you what happened last time we had we may or may not have had somebody really high up in the webflow community come out and do some work not you you know so uh they're no longer with webflow and i started sharing some ideas for names of events and concepts and stuff and all of a sudden those came to life outside of our umbrella so we're keeping some of that stuff a little tighter to our best uh yeah yeah so you won't know until we launch it okay actually we do have remote documentary.com though so we will be kind of operating under that umbrella until we release like the official name oh okay remote documentary okay yeah well until then um more power to you and effing f and sweet team and like you know i'm always a supporter yeah i appreciate i appreciate uh chatting with you i really didn't know we were gonna be on the stream but uh much love just pretend no one's here and there were just two guys i know i did that's what gets me into trouble well i'm glad i just started talking and i'm like [Music] yeah i know i like i'm not gonna name names or anything but no no i'm glad you didn't curse and i'm glad you didn't like i think i did i think i said [ __ ] once twice now well time to get demonetized thank you so much bye it's like and all of a sudden rymar's internet cuts out oh i mean we we've already seen that happen many times during clone comp so nope nobody would even suspect anything they're like oh this is rhymewire all right well good luck happy and safe travels for you yeah for sure girl and uh i can't wait to see what happens next for the f and sweet team wish us luck man good luck have a good day everybody bye thanks for hanging all right um that was cool random chats if you want to get on the call like we can chat or if you want me to review your website or i don't know what are we what are we doing here why are you even here do you want me just talk more because i got i got thoughts i got thoughts if you want to just keep this going or you can leave it's totally fine too enjoy your weekend you don't have to be here you never had to be here but you are here and i appreciate it um let's see here joshua damn i would but i'm away from no computer but if you're on your phone you can still call from zoom there's an app or we can stare at each other for the last 45 minutes of this stream a good if you want to join you're part of the no code community why not i'm going to miss the oh no there he goes i'm going to miss these streams yeah it's again bittersweet you can't hold on to anything in this life in this universe nothing you cannot hold on to anything and don't worry it's just we're just moving it over to a bigger stage that's it i'm gonna try to keep it still fun still real honest because that's my thing if i'm not honest then i feel weird but yeah um technology bro it totally works yeah it does uh nelson can i get thoughts how to improve a site and work yes jeremy uh get on call jay wants to get on the call to okay um jake can you please uh submit or sorry can you put the link where people can submit their their websites for review so i'm gonna give and then i'll get to that after j so um jay we'll talk to jay for like say three five minutes and then we'll go into site reviews i think that's fine so for five minutes with jay and then ah here we go hi jay what's up what's up oh it's backwards here let me how do i um let's see here properties no not properties transform [Music] flip horizontal ah i'm a pro streamer how are you good i just wanted to get out and say good luck you know well thank you best wishes and all this so um yeah you know just wanted to participate love the community and and i i have uh high hopes and and a lot of faith that you're gonna you know make it better than it's been and we're growing man we're all growing together here and i mean look what happened you're back for that reason i think you know what i mean like paying attention is community and moving forward i think it's it's going to be a big deal a big deal in these years to come so yeah yeah um thank you and it uh yeah i i pay attention to the community because again the community is the one that saved me from a prior point of depression in my life and hey that's funny me too man me this whole thing brought me out of that i i thought i was a badass and i could you know depression couldn't hit me but i'll be honest with you that that that beginning of covid you know like hit me bad and i paid attention and it was depression and to be honest this community had brought me out you know like same thing so like big tough guy but like i admitted to myself and like came back and um you guys are you've become my people now so this is this is awesome for me and it helps my spirits every day and i'm glad like you know i'm i'm i'm really associated with finn sweet you know a lot and they brought me back out and there's a tuesday thing and then a thursday thing and then you you know are on saturdays and it's like you know what i'll just populate my whole week with this community so and then gather town has just been another level you know what i mean i just love that so yeah it was really nice meeting you uh during uh clone comp and and yeah in senior tattoos that's really cool um but like don't watch me on saturdays anymore why because you can't no right right right but like when uh if i get all of my ideas or most of my ideas through the webflow team i mean expect big things to help the community because again i want to put more honesty and tell like um someone said in the chat uh i forgot who but like yeah let's do a whole episode or a whole stream on webflow's official channel talking about mental health because that's part of no code life right we all have i mean brains and we all have health issues yeah yeah i mean you know uh this is a new standard and it's changing society right now it's where granted i'm not outside meeting stuff but it's it's producing serotonin which is making me feel social you know what i mean yeah so it's in in it's a affecting me for the positive physically at the same time as mental you know what i mean it's making me like oh i should you know get back and you know start working out get my body healthy you know get off this effing chair you know so yeah no i agree that that's awesome that you're even thinking that structure so kudos man yeah thank you thank you well i don't want to take up your time just want to say good luck and um i know you'll take care of us you know what i mean i i feel like we got uh our best wishes are in good hands so thank you i appreciate you have a great weekend and um you matter you're important and you're important part of this no code community and i can't wait to see what other things what other great things you build awesome take care brother see ya bye later all right okay one more a cut and then i'm going into [Music] uh after a cut i'm going into site reviews so yeah hey good what's up what's up how are you dude how do you feel that you lost me excuse me how do you feel at your last stream feel like another day um the bitter sweetness um happened uh throughout the it was spread out throughout the week so today it was more excited uh when i hit go live it was more excitement that i'm starting my next chapter so i don't feel sad right now i just feel excited about what else can i do to help this community grow and show them in the most positive light ever so yeah yeah the thing is with the local community as you said before it did bring also like all together and it teaches us it's a friendly community and i hope it stays that way and we're increasing numbers increasing in size and yeah and also it was like always funny in the streams like you're showing here trying to battle you with the faster thing better but yeah yeah all things come to an end i just basically just wanted to have like a last chat on your last stream and i would say we see us and then in the future streams thank you thank you thank you so much and good luck to what you're building and i'll say it codello i mean it is a crazy crazy project for a teenager to take up on but like you said it's a win-win for you if it comes to light you find an investor and it actually starts generating revenue you win if it fails you still learned a lot and you still win so i mean good luck to whichever path it takes um and it's it's again it's awesome to see you just build something and that's how i started and just for people who want to do tutorials and live streams just hit record just just learn just do it the thing is with people don't let yourself limited if you see a problem don't try to google it around or search if you see that problem just tickle it if it even a concrete watch is tackled it and then if you can break it get a hammer and break it down work hard it takes time it it will it will bring you to pain and such but once you're over that wall you know how to break that wall and at the next walls you can always break them faster and faster and you're becoming like a monster which can do whatever you want the creativity is your hand you can learn everything you want it's just a starting point and the endurance did you say don't google it as the thing is issue is if you always google your solution then then you won't grow you have to fight with some problem and let's say after three days you can google it but that's basically how i learned oh i basically pushed the wall it sounded like adverse it sounded like you said don't google it at all and now you're saying google it after like three days yeah yeah yeah no no no worries i was trying to understand um uh the message here but yeah i agree with that it that goes into [Music] teach so i don't know how it is in your country but in in the united states the education system is usually like here go go read the book go memorize some stuff and then we'll test you on what you memorize but that's the main issue it's more powerful if you teach someone how to learn when people understand how to learn they'll know when it comes time to try to break it down or figure out the solution in creative ways on their own and they'll understand when it's time to ask for help or to google something which is okay too uh and so yeah learning how to learn is what i'm trying to teach people through these streams yeah because it doesn't matter if you then start out if you know how to learn fast you can literally master workflow in within half a year or a year you know mm-hmm but first that was like a play box and the thing is as you said i want to expand on the playbox but i that's that's not the topic here so yeah i i wish you more on your way and yeah at least on my last stream i'm not advertising on you hey you know what i mean yeah but thank you thank you so much for helping the the community for what you're doing and and it was wonderful to see you at the clone comp and i i wish you the best on your project so good luck and keep us posted on how it's going yes i will see you soon see you bye bye oh gosh why does it do that cool fruit dubious hey don't know if you remember me i i think so but you helped me a lot in the past enough to actually become a full-time freelancer i even got to help you a couple times specking out computer oh yeah my current streaming pc that i'm on right now you spec that out for me and these streams have been running so smoothly ever since so thank you fruit dubious thank you um yeah i haven't been active in the community i wouldn't be here without it's okay take your time um but i'm glad you're a full-time freelancer and you're doing what you want keep learning keep learning all right um let's go look at some websites let's actually do some no code stuff let's go to nope not that one going on my click up all right so we have three that we're going to look at so aben is first aben if you want to go to the zoom call i can help you out live and in person sort of in person virtually so aben if you're still here i'm going to pull up your website right now um let's see here copy help you with your website or review it whichever you want okay get that up okay while i'm waiting for what is this oh aben's here [Music] get you on the call site review aben you there hey hey hi nick hi how you doing i'm doing good uh learned a lot from you man and i've just like become a full-time freelancer quitting my job as a test engineer and it's been going great till now i was working as a test engineer for philips for the past three years until 2020 i found webflow and i completely switched to freelancing and i'm earning myself doing what i love to do designing websites and implementing them on webflow wow that's yeah i'm so proud of you like let's go like oh man what was that feeling putting in your two weeks notice to your job it was wonderful i was i've already earned my whole year's package in just a month with webflow so that gave me confidence and my parents the confidence that i can build my own business and i'm running it uh myself parent approval that me also being um uh being filipino parent approval is like the ultimate goal yeah like because i'm the eldest son so like i have a lot of responsibilities here congrats to you congrats to you so let's let's look at the thing that you submitted so um you're in is your name ben yeah it's pronounced oh okay but you go by ben hyde yeah like uh he's um oh this isn't your website no no this is my client's website i just finished working on it yesterday it was built in around four days so it took me to build it four days to build yeah did you design this or is this template yes like i designed it i got my inspiration from awards and designed this who did the video uh originally i put in a black uh water droplet but eventually client wanted it to be blue so i just changed it to blue for him see because it says portfolio yeah it's so clean it is so clean oh my god here we go here we go here we go yes i remember doing that stream okay all right see when the client gives you great media assets it makes our jobs a web webflow developers so much easier right yes exactly like he's planning to put in new videos to those highlights changing it eventually oh my god it's so clean okay tabs here nice oh i like the i like the hover effects oh are we using what are we using here are we using fin suite yeah we are using thinset library to filter it nice this is cool okay all right i'm liking it i'm liking it uh you can click on it to play the video here some awesome videos okay i just i just i just learned it from your team how to play videos on a click and uh close the videos on click oh this is nice dude nice clean simple uh okay let me guess okay cool it's a symbol a single page yeah let's see here all right here we go mobile what are we doing nice okay so you move the video up nice i like this this is like pleasing to me thank you oh man okay okay so you made okay there we go okay i get it so you when it gets to here you want to give it some space around it all right yeah like everything in the uh in a mobile view everything full screen doesn't look good so i just decreased it there we go nicely done man maybe that's too small yeah but yeah well congrats on getting this one done i mean i yeah i have many words for this it's like it's just it's clean thank you like i i did struggle with the javascript part with playing videos on click and ending it so colin just suggested me on slack to watch your video and i just rewatched it and learned it and i implemented it yeah glad to help i'm looking for the oh there it is nice i don't remember i don't remember doing this but yay cool i'm just learning javascript so like it's not clean uh timothy ricks is doing javascript videos now yes i just used his builder builder and one more like there is other tools also that drives tips on drag and drop well this is cool well thanks for sharing thank you and thank you for being a part of this community i hope to see you in the live chat at what uh youtube.com webflow plugging them obviously um i hope to see in that live chat whenever i go live um and again congrats congrats on becoming a full-time freelancer and getting your parents approval ah yeah thank you oh yeah well i'll see you in in uh yeah if you need your money see you around see you and gather and your webflow videos yes thank you all right have a great day bye bye dude that's cool and congrats again congrats to him man all right uh who's next we have so that one is complete moving on to jeremy oh jeremy if you're still here click on the zoom link jeremy country soul phone book all right let me pull it up country soul phone book before i give my first impressions i'll wait for the live stream lag connor is here v connor the finlayson the unicorn the factory how you doing connor jeremy i need to flip that jeremy hey nelson how are you i'm glad uh do you have you don't have to be on camera but do you have a camera i do have a camera but yeah then i'm i'm not okay it's a little early for camera okay totally understand totally understand all right let's go through this uh this page all right let's see here uh [Music] country soul phone book um i like the colors at the top uh what was the inspiration behind that and don't say my shirt [Music] no it's i mean with a lot of the stuff i do it's what clients give you to uh work with so this is a kind of a non-profit uh organization and i built something similar for um the queer community for country artists and i built a directory off of that so this is kind of the next phase in that and this is all for all of the people that are kind of excluded from country music so uh that's what the director is going to be building um and so i'm just trying to find ways to just make it uh better i'm having some z index issues which i'll figure out but um this one has a lot more uh color and stuff with it but it's still just a simple directory what i was wondering about is if you click on the uh like the genre filter i'm just not sure where to put that thing so those ones are fine those are top level filters and that's using fans but this the genre filter i don't know where i've had it kind of sitting right you know beside it and i thought top corner and i just don't know um okay so let's start from the top let's start from the top country soul phone book when i'm reading this i don't know what it's about i know you get to it down here but i feel like people would be confused like okay there's a block of text and you know on the internet not many people read so more like a sub head so i would or tag yeah some sort of a sub head that explain um a direct response i'm trying to find it would have to be like in few words yeah um what is it a directory that reflects the creative community okay here we go um amplifying historically marginalized voices in in country in country music or something like that you know like there's something in this in this sentence that could go up here and that immediately explains oh okay also this phone book is not just directory it's a way to prop up the community it's a way to spotlight these wonderful people but in this hero row i do not see people i i see a phone and so immediately it's not very human i don't see humans until i get down here which i feel like it's kind of too late okay so if you can put some of the people at the top so what i'm thinking is like a a section like this like just using the regular layouts something like this this regular layout and then here can be a bunch of circles of people that are in the phone book already and then you have your country soul phone book and then and then something like that and then uh uh view the artists and then it's just scroll when you click on it it's auto scrolls down uh to here you know what i mean i like that sticky uh nav that's cool um and i feel like the 50 50 that's mess the oh i'm not looking at mobile um but the 50 50 layout were 50 column 50 column i think you can get away with this being like yeah let's see here column gap 3fr like let me see can i do one more let me delete this okay so it's one okay so what if i do one before okay so the first one i'm going to say is 0.25 i don't know how to do it in code you me both i i was i was faking it i was faking like i knew what i was doing but you know what i mean this column needs to be way way much smaller yeah it has to be like .25 or something here let me try to uh okay if i change this to one what happens okay we're getting close again i don't know what i'm doing uh what if this was like 150 okay don't know what i'm doing can i do one fr okay so what if i do 0.75 okay anyways okay yeah you get the idea so if i put a grid i would say you're oh not 0.75 it should be 0.5 so yeah god what what's wrong there all right so it should be 0.5 so that way your filter is in a smaller um column whereas you want to feature the people and that way you give more space for the people and for the people i would also put them in a in a grid within a grid so for example uh if i put a div so let's just imagine that this left div is is your is your filter and then this uh put a div inside of there and then a grid inside of there delete one of the rows so it can be like the photo of the artist goes here and all of their information goes here right so that way you have more yes i'm using am i using i might be using flex instead of because i've been using grid problem i'm using grid and flex okay that's fine if that's what's more comfortable to you i mean like well it's it's i guess what i've run into problems with with grid all the time is that especially in desktop it like looks good on certain sizes and then all of a sudden you know you get into the smaller ones and it it doesn't um uh doesn't stack properly or either i don't have a concept of how without you know grid at the break points yeah so i mean i use a combination of grid and flex but for the overall layout i use grid and then within one of the grid columns if grid doesn't work to the way i want it then i switch over to flex i never use flex as the main layout thing yeah no i'm using grid yeah so that's yeah that's how i use it so i would use if you don't want to use it like this you can still use flex um but but yeah so that's what i would do i just make everything more horizontal than vertical awesome yeah and uh it would be nice to make these more in a card ui so um so to give them more of a border than speech and then themselves hold on let me i'm gonna sign into my whimsical but make sure that i don't show any client work so hold please okay um okay call my scratch board site review and you're back all right so for card ui i would do a thing like you have your circle and then you have your square let's push the there you square this should whoops this should bring forward there we go something like you've probably seen cards like this so and also don't um make sure to outline it so it's like this you know what i mean so that way um each has their own card rather than it's just floating in space it gives that grouping feeling i guess for the horizontal uh because oh yeah for horizontal yeah you can horizontal just do it that way and then it'll switch automatically to go to when it goes to something like this where this is vertically centered or if you want to get like maybe pretty different with it something like that yeah i don't know the play around yeah no okay yeah i'm trying i'm it's the it's the visually trying to make it even more you know visually pleasing and a little bit more um i mean it's it's a directory so i want it to be simple but that's you know i do obviously want it to have some style as well yeah yeah yeah it's just a grouping thing that's it i mean this is already clean it's super clean and i like it but um just things floating in space is all i'm saying and then like this column could be smaller but other than that you know so yeah to review like add add some human element to it yeah sub head and then in between here you can have more of a information like you have here and then oh yeah for the menu for the um genre selector would you put it up in the corner would you just actually just have it drop down right where it is i'll just drop it down right here okay that's that's fine yeah just right yeah just use the regular webflow drop down component and you'll be fine just use that and so when it opens up it opens on top of any elements it's above and that's fine yeah i had it shifted over to the side of the the side of it i think it works fine but yeah and the reason why it's kind of weird showing it all the way over here is because it's lost in context because this doesn't it's like what is this a part of i don't like if someone clicked that by accident they'll see this and be like whoa what is it is this an ad that just came up from the side yeah yeah but if you do it here then there's context because they click it oh okay it's under the genre filter makes sense and it makes sense it pops up over everything awesome thanks a lot nelson my pleasure and thanks again for your support um i mean you've been using level for a long time i remember answering some of your your questions even in the in the official streams back in i don't know 2018-19 yeah well longer longer than that i think i've been using webflow for five years so i feel like i should be further along with it but uh it's uh but the uh no and and i'm constantly re-watching uh your streams and stuff like that so you've done a huge amount for the community and i appreciate you so thank you so much thank you i appreciate you too thank you for the support and i'll see you in the other live chat just stay tuned to your email or whatever we're gonna we're gonna do it big and uh that's what kind of scares me too i'm excited nervous uh because it's i'm streaming to 30ish people and then now i'm gonna stream to what over a hundred or so gonna grow bigger than that nelson is gonna grow bigger than that we'll see you know i i okay oh over 9000 no but seriously it's like but i'll see you there thank you so so much for being a part of the community and um keep bringing your projects to the live streams i will review them all right appreciate it take care have a good day bye hey jeremy uh oh last 12 minutes okay i got one more to review oh no i lost my tab okay that one is complete and monica monica can you are the last ever person on the pixel geek live stream to get a site reviewed so i'm gonna pull it up uh where is the invite link so monica if you would like to join me on stage the zoom link is right there let's go benjamin you're the man thanks nelson you're welcome uh yeah so while i'm waiting oh wait never mind i'm not waiting anymore she's here all right so let's get her on stream hi monica hello probably audio still connecting hello hello how are you hi hi i'm good how are you doing well uh welcome to the stream and uh yes you have the last seat in the house saved especially for you this is it i'm so nervous this is the first time i'm on a live stream like ever oh okay weird well yeah yeah it it gets nerve-racking but after you do it more uh more and more it gets easier um well actually it doesn't get easier it just okay your tolerance to be live in front of how many people in front of 30 people gets easier so how are you oh my god okay i'm doing good uh i'm just uh i'm in college so i am doing i mean i'm having my summer break right now nice nice what are you uh what are you majoring in or what is your what is your goal well it's been fluctuating but i think i kind of figured it out so i'm a graphic designer right now um i'm studying graphic design in kansas and i started interning at this digital product company and i'm being a ui ux intern nice so you are ux design and i think that's what i want to go in with okay i really fell in love with like building like web design and things what is it about web design that gets you pumped up to pull up figma or whatever tool you use and say man i'm going to build this design just like um user experience in general like um i want to see people be able to like get the information that they need and like navigate through the web like non-painfully just like i guess it's down from like back then with my parents trying to like use the web they would get so struggle with it that it's yeah i just want to make people experience better you're in the right spot i don't know it's not a very not very like elaborate i guess so what i'm hearing and it's okay and um using my past experience oh i'm glad you're the last person this is good this is good um uh okay here let's do this when you see someone uh who's an accomplished ui ux designer who's accomplished web designer who's won awards on awards.com or cssawards.net or something like that what do you think of them oh i what do i think of that do you have an idol in this web design ui ux space oh yeah uh well i listened to this guy um named corvin and he's a adobe creator kind of adobe xd product designer and he has a podcast like talk about ui ux design a lot and i'm just really inspired of how they think through the journey of the user and like how the difficulties like there's so much more that we have to think when it comes to web applications yeah it's like that yeah for different groups of people yeah and so when you think of that person um do you think they have it all figured out i thought so yeah i i thought so but i know that um there's some stories that he told that he like oh like he did this but then like during user testing like it didn't happen the way that he wanted so i this process there so i i guess what i'm getting at and that makes sense because even in the ui ux world you know you you think you understand what to do but you don't and what i'm what i'm hearing from your voice uh especially when i ask what are you uh doing in college you said it in a question i'm a graphic designer um and i and if i could tell myself anything in my my previous uh teenager self anything is to have more self confidence and to know that no matter who you idolize who matter no matter who your hero is no matter if there's a company who you think is the greatest no one knows what the f's they're doing no one no if anyone is so sure of themselves wow they're straight up lying to your face if they're telling it like they don't they can do no wrong or they're showing themselves off as a way that they can do no wrong they are lying to your face so what you're going through right now in college where you're not sure where to go where to take path in life but you know you want to make the web easier especially for your parents to use that is beautiful and you're on the correct path if that's what your heart yearns for to solve these design problems go that path you're on the correct path don't second guess yourself you're you're already there oh don't you um i actually crying these revelations have also made me cry when i'm talking to business coaches and and life coaches we all need coaches we all need help no one has it figured out so if you ever fail in a graph in a graphic design test or you you fail take that failure as a stepping stone because the fact that you failed and you're going to learn from it is beautiful and you're still on the right path so thank you thank you so much nelson you're welcome you're welcome so inspiring that's what i try to do because i feel it all the time it it's funny because the people who are really honest always second-guess themselves to the point that they don't want to do it but yet the dishonest people yes get away with things and you're like that's not fair because us honest people we're always in our heads and we're already competing with ourselves in our heads when you if you look from the outside we're fine we're just right we're just regular people and we're gonna do it we're gonna help people so thank you for being a part of this community and thank you for for doing what you can to help your parents and because people like your parents who don't understand the internet you're going to make it better for them thank you so much you're welcome so let's go to your website and and you being brave enough to submit your website and get it reviewed live and you coming onto this zoom live oh my god it shows how brave you are so keep going right don't take any of these thank you don't take any of this feedback as oh it sucks my first website oh my god i wish i can pull it back up again but it it was so bad but with the tools that you youngsters have nowadays um it's already pushing you so far so let's get through oh my god i feel so pressured now i have to like impress people the only person you have to impress is the person you were yesterday yeah that's right don't impress anyone else um here we go so uh architecture and design is this this is your site no someone else's yeah this is my so i'm actually building this for my school so my professor um they want like a portfolio site for the whole architecture and design school where student and professor can post their projects on there and kind of showcase what we have at the school okay so this is what the site is yeah okay all right so this is okay okay i get it now so you your name isn't k.u yeah no all right so this is for a school all right yes um okay very okay yeah okay okay um okay okay yeah it's not finished i just started this like this summer like this is my first workflow website ever like probably the first website ever too and you're already using webflow collections and nested collections and hover effects yeah you're using flex or grid somewhere here without even looking at the code using pagination so you've learned a lot so far okay yeah all thanks to you and vince wood honestly yeah you're welcome so yeah okay so let's let's talk about the home page so this is not off of a template this is a blank right okay so it's a blank template nice okay so the grid is clean the hover effects makes sense and and your ui with the the tags i like it it's it's it's very clean very clean um so when it comes to let's say when someone comes to a website there's always uh there's six seconds that you get three seconds for the load time and then once someone's there you have three seconds to explain where are they what is it about where do they get more information so fast loading cool done where am i ku architecture and design cool what is about i don't know i don't know what this website is about so you're missing some sort of messaging statement here and you and again you can get away with it if you want to just pull in a layout i don't know if you know about the layouts feature in webflow right here but you can just bring in a hero and then it's already laid out for you so now you've got the name what's about and then where do i go for more information and then a supporting image to convey what this information or what the brand is all about um that makes sense so i would put the hero row first and then you would have this grid cool um the hover effect i like it but maybe push it more um maybe you can do a thing where like when you hover the image gets pushed back um i i need an example um let me just go here so you have the you have your card thing and then no then your image whatever how do i explain how do i explain it so you have a overlaying div inside of here and so when you mouse on over you can have a a fake button inside of here that says view project so when you're thinking about ui think about road signs while you're driving if you realize this when you're driving you're actually looking at ui and you're right you actually driving on the road is the ux so if you see if you're on a road and then you see a sign that comes up and says this lane is going to turn some direction soon right and it doesn't even have an icon if it's left or right and you're you pass by the right sign you're like the f and the next thing you know all of a sudden a turn is coming you're like oh oh dang you know so that's true yeah you want to tell people before they even click that hey something's coming up soon and so if i hover over this view project details or view project so as a road sign i'm like oh if i click on this i'm going to view the project cool thanks for letting me know and all of that happens in the brain in milliseconds right so something like that so let's go ahead and click yeah nice nice nice nice photography okay uh i'm wondering okay because uh the mouse cursor changing to a magnifying glass makes sense but this whole photo yeah is is so interesting and so clean clear high res that when i i didn't even notice that my mouse changed to the magnifying glass and so this might be a harder thing to do and you don't have to do it but maybe custom mouse cursor that shows um uh an icon of expanding or open in light box something like that but yeah just a little thing um oh this is cool i like like this feels like very sci-fi-ish possible yeah that looks like flyish like with a little the project details like yeah i wondered let's see here nope nope where is the where's the borders is there this one i wonder if the borders can be lighter okay whatever it's not working but you know what i mean maybe the borders can be lighter yeah um okay scrolling down so yeah maybe maybe an overlay at least i don't know ah i don't know anything maybe you have it right all right this is clean this is all clean and you already learned sticky come on nice that's the first website like the basic of things good job yeah so those are my only things oh okay and okay i get it look at those little bikes can you try the filter oh yeah yeah if it's like nice so this is sweet experience there it's kind of is this fence suite or just boost and the fact that you use fin suite which is custom code don't be too harsh on yourself you've learned a lot and this is a clean site all right last thing thank you oh okay so last thing just you need more space like i wonder if it's let's see here oh yeah you well you need space in between each of your collection list items but either than that i mean congrats to you oops this needs to be smaller oh oh yeah it's all good yeah congrats to you and if you get a bad grade can you email me and then i'm going to talk to your professor be like yo what's going on here yeah oh but um i'll let them know yeah you see that guy he's going to get you on a live stream and just not just kidding but like yeah even if you get a bad grade on this you you get a plus from me like okay a minus because of the things we talked about but hey like no one's perfect yeah no one's perfect and don't ever try to be perfect don't ever try to be perfect just keep striving for it knowing that you'll never be it thank you you're welcome nelson thank you for being the last guest on my stream i wish you the best i hope i see you in the live chats on the webflow live streams oh yeah definitely and yeah i'm like following you guys every day now since i started like discovering you guys i'm like oh my god this is so cool like i want to be part of this you already are it's nice all right well take care have a great weekend and good luck with your studies your internship and just like um the first guest uh impressing your parents that's always hard yeah especially with asian parents they still don't know what i'm doing so in filipino families it um it's like yeah if you if you don't impress the parents they're like you have to be become this like you have to be a med tech or a doctor and you have to do this and then it's like oh god wait you make websites how does that make money exactly yeah it does i promise well thank you so much and have a great weekend bye you too thank you goodbye youtube goodbye youtube and let me close that out and that meeting is done that's it muhammad i saw you on the list but i had to close it we are done that's it this is the end um it's over um let's let's oh yeah let's choose some people did we well that's live stream uh last pixel geek stream okay jake stream i will email all three of you uh for more information uh let's go here [Music] where's my notes okay so last thought um throughout my whole career i was always looking for promotion within my job and it wasn't until this first promotion ever at for over 15 years professionally in this career i've been always looking for a promotion trying to impress my bosses my colleagues um but whenever i didn't get it i would feel like i plateaued and i still wanted to learn more i wanted to level up and so i would do that on my own free time and it wasn't until this promotion that i'm stepping into in a week i realized i didn't get the promotion i throughout my whole career i've been promoting myself so i started as just a webmaster but i wanted to become more so i learned more about html and css and flash on my own free time and then i was able to apply to another job that actually said hey you can be a junior web designer for us cool and i think i didn't think of that as a promotion i just thought oh it's a new job and i get to learn new things and every job that happened i would get to plateau get mad like why am i not getting promoted why are people all around me getting promoted faster than me i'm not i'm not good enough i suck i'm not good but i want to learn so i learned applied for another job because i wasn't happy lots of applications lots then i got it and then i just realized recently when offered this position i promoted myself because i didn't stop helping the community i didn't stop doing what i wanted to do which is live stream and teach in an honest empathetic way so now i've got this promotion and i'm realizing i promoted myself don't worry about what other people think don't look for that promotion within your job the promotion is already in you if you're willing to learn so do that learn something one percent something new every day one little thing even if it's a wiki of some piece of history if it's something about space or is one little thing like i learned about electrons from a netflix show called storybots while watching with my daughter and i'm like that's how energy is made amazing have those mind-blowing moments at least once a week or just google something learn something new every day click a new button see what happens just like a could said like just break something and try to fix it and re trace how you fixed it or retrace what you've learned that's what makes you promote that promotes you in your career not some job because you will get the dream job that you want if you keep working on it on your own no one's going to give it to you um and also there i there's times when i feel like i'm late to the party you know when it comes that a late grip growth spurt late i was like 411 in high school in in height 4 foot 11 inches um uh i felt like i'm late to the wordpress game back then i'm late to learning all these other tools but finally i'm like i'm realizing i'm not late i'm just in my own timeline and everyone else is in their own timeline i was jealous of people who are like learning stuff so much faster than me doing really cool websites and like here i am still trying to figure out stuff in a slow pace and i'll be in my head like why am i not good enough i am i am good enough and i'm on my own timeline and i will get to where i'm supposed to be when it's the right time and i know there's and i get anxious and and and um like what is it i i want to make sure that i'm impatient like come on where's that next step i want to get to that next step now i'm impatiently patient so if i can't get what i want faster then i will work for it to somehow get there but i'm on my own timeline last thing that i learned from this youtube channel these streams on this channel is no matter how small you think this knowledge is that you figured out or learned pass it forward without any expectations of getting anything back because when you give the universe will give back twice as much then there's a harder part you have to give back twice as much and then the universe will give you four times so you give back four times eight times and you get back eight times see you just gotta keep going like that um so yeah that's if you think i'm successful thank you that's and i hope that you take this knowledge these streams to where you can become successful and then pass that down to the next generation of ui ui designers web developers no coders whomever wants to learn but that's how we all grow as a community as as humanity so thank you emotional thank you all so so much for being a part of this journey i will miss you all on saturdays oh i will miss you all on saturdays but we all get our weekends back and i will see you at the youtube official channel where we're going to do it bigger and i appreciate and love you all so so much you've helped me get through some tough times okay you really helped me and i hope i helped you in your careers we're done we're done so thank you so much for making the web beautiful together see ya i forgot to play music there it is my eyes hurt thank you all love you all [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
