as you could have guessed it rained again just taking care of some normal morning maintenance this is katie's s670 who knows where dad when he disappeared hours ago with his combine somehow mother nature keeps one upping herself we get it you can stop now i barely made it up this lane i'm not sure if i'm gonna be able to get out of here with my truck not only is it wet it's also cold 670s ready to go i'm not even sure based on what the ground looks like if we're going to run the wheeled machine the track machine made a mess leading this field that's going to be a question will determine at game time nature well this is monday morning for you let's just pretend that that did not happen just remember folks speed is your friend this is just not a good sign for the day i think that there's a gopro in there somewhere although i'm not sure this is harvest 2021 or at least the last half of it in a nutshell kind of tired of this mess come on i do have some positives yesterday was halloween and lenny was a shark he was adorable give me the heat [Applause] and so it begins mud fest continues [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] my [Applause] this has just been unimaginably slow almost everything you could imagine is too wet the fields the ditches and most importantly the bin site which is really what's slowing us down the most because we can only run one truck that 10-wheeler because we have to back in because the semis would get stuck it's like a slip and slide out here i am extremely grateful right now that we have eight row corn heads dad just heard from another farmer in the area that he had to take his 12 row off because it's too muddy to drive across the field with it on had to find an eight row that's one of those benefits that you really never want to make use of we do not get a window before spring to work this ground we are going to be paying the piper come planting season corn stocks like this are incredibly hard to run through a field cultivator we manage it with the vertical till and then field cultivate it i really don't know but hopefully we get the groundwork and we don't have to cross that bridge when it comes because the bridge never comes playing in the butthole i'm really just worried about anhydrous ammonia our late summer prepaid contracts expire the 31st of december we don't get it on all of those prices are nolan boyd which is a very good price considering where the market's at now we'll probably pay another 50 percent more if we do not get it on in terms of gross dollars per time we get all of our prepay money back but very very rarely is in hydra's prices in the spring cheaper than the fall especially this year that's muddy [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] we've been running for four or five hours now i don't think we've picked 35 acres by the time we mud out the corn put it on the truck and wait on our one tin wheeler things get kind of slow around here and not to point fingers anyone or throw them under the bus but someone spilled corn off of the grain cart from the combine it was me so disregard that little corn little spices too hopefully we are done with you for the year highly unlikely [Applause] just makes you sick doesn't it seems like every year has its own unique trademark or signature this year is the year of high yielding corn and soybeans and horrifically wet fields we won't forget it [Music] [Applause] where did the tracks end in the frame begin i think there's a combine under here somewhere that is a lot of mud i totally think we got all the mud off the combine shouldn't be a speck left not to mention we're done oh look at other 400 acres of corner pick that's depressing i wish i was built with four-wheel drive [Music] [Music] i'm always happy to see that the emergency overflow option is getting good use it's been a lot of money for this feature [Applause] since we added those tracks to the combine we're gonna do something a little bit differently and take the corn head off we got about 25 miles now to go down the road to our next farm one is going to be rough and two they probably don't handle that front end weight on the road for that long very well so we're gonna put them on the stinky old head trailer what we used to use for the drapers i'm gonna take the cart dad's gonna take the combine easy peasy i'm happy to announce that there was only two tires that were low on this head cart that we haven't used in quite a while it's the small things in life that make the biggest difference in your mood let's get this corn head to windsor before we get in trouble [Music] [Applause] [Music] gonna be a soft one i about violated the number one rule of logistics this morning leaving home without getting breakfast and lunch no i'm just kidding leaving home without fueling up the tractor especially when you're going far away might as well batten down the hatches because we got at least 30 to 40 minutes in the tractor i'm going to attempt to reach some kind of efficiency it'll be far from maximum i'm going to go to the far end that's trying to pick the ends off with the combine if i can run a hopper back and forth at a time that's going to make a world of difference versus him driving back and forth so we're going to see if it's going to work don't hold your breath because it's pretty wet out here [Music] [Music] surprised to say this but we finally caught the trucks katie's going to hop in the green car for a little bit i'm going to take this similar to the elevator just down the road a couple miles hopefully that'll buy us some time we're making a lot of trips with the grain cart but that 780 is running at nearly full efficiency we caught the trucks that means we're doing good so i'm going to elevator i'm happy that we're making the progress we are because if we did not have that green card running in the field this would probably take twice as long to do new ambitious goal is getting this grain car and tractor cleaned because i've never seen so much mud coating the entire rig there's a lot you honestly can barely even tell that there's a tractor under here i don't know where the stairs are that's a work hazard my union contract would not allow that osha wouldn't approve it clean those off a little bit that's money today we've definitely been following the no news is good news principle so i haven't talked to you too much dodging the mud in this field's like a game of mine sweeper either gotta go around the wet spots or pick a spot that you can figure way through that was not pretty we're getting to the end of the line for the day the sun is setting but most importantly the elevator closes at six o'clock which is right now we gotta load this truck chris is loaded we're gonna send him the elevator to stay for the night we're gonna pick him up obviously we're not gonna leave him in his truck all night jeff should be coming back so we'll load two more trucks pull everything out in the field and shut down we might have picked 120 acres today i haven't done any math or really looked at anything at all i've just been chilling in the grain cart for the last hour because the south field it has shorter rose and it's also wetter so we're gonna wait and see if we find some drier dirt if not i'll just be sitting here we'll be loading the trucks on the road not a big deal but like i said we made more progress than i was expecting to can't complain about that i'm gonna clean my entrance off in case i have any visitors the one that think i'm a slob oh would you look at that we've already started next year's corn crop combine operator had something to do with that i just really really hope that we get a chance the next few weeks to do some tillage because if we didn't we've created a disaster for next spring field cultivator's not gonna like any of this one more truck to load for the night and then it's quitting time sometimes even set yet [Music] did that get so much corn in there did you have corn in there all she wrote for the night i'm gonna take this truck over the elevator and hit it again tomorrow this is one of tgm's satellite elevators here in middlesworth tuck between windsor and shelbyville it's a small facility and i think they're about full on corn but it's literally a mile to the west of where we're harvesting which is just right over that direction hopefully they don't fill up on us because we got another 25 000 bushels to put in it's cold much cooler than i'm used to working in during harvest the elevator only has 15 000 bushels of storage left and we got 25 000 bushels of corn out here at least 100 acres times 250 bushels an acre the first 80 we picked yesterday averaged 255 dry which is extremely impressive because it had about six acres of ponds with nothing in it great corn so we're gonna have some logistical challenges the corn head is steaming we do have another issue surfacing on the back end of that combine dad noticed that where the spindle attaches to the axle i'm not exactly sure what the terminology is where that part that turns attaches he said the bolts are coming loose so we're gonna tighten those down so it doesn't fall off that'd be bad this part of the field is still too wet for the grain cart so i'm gonna find something to do to pass the time maybe fly my drone [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] dear's employees at harvester works must have been too busy planning their strike the day that combine was built to torque the wheels down so they didn't fall off that could have been a disaster some of those were hand loose like we probably could have spun them off with our hand okay that was a tad bit unfair accidents happen mistakes are made we caught it nothing bad happened so we can't really be upset about it moving on we somehow managed to get promoted back to combine operator that's better than whatever job i had before which was really nothing because it's still too wet for the green cart somehow the south half of this farm is much wetter than the north half even though that's where the big pond is wow [Music] foreign we finally found ourselves some drier ground or at least passable ground i wouldn't really call it dry much visibility tonight oh much better those 36 inch tracks on that combine are just mud sleds there's not a single spot in this field that's even challenged that combine pretty impressive we have accomplished quite a bit in the last couple days and that's all that's left green card salesman was out today looking at this trying to find us a pair of tracks for next year how much do we lack here 10 15 acres i don't know if it's going to fit on the trucks or not elevator closes in 30 minutes well i'm not going to get an answer the combine stopped no i'm sorry there's not a single window that's not completely obstructed by mud we did it we got the truck out of here just in time my dad with that full of a grain tank is a ticking time bomb so i put in road gear to catch up with him no need to fret everyone i'm a professional not a single kernel of corn was dropped that time of night on tonight's episode of will the remainder of the field fit on the last truck the game show you love to lose there's not a chance that that fits on the back half of that semi this is the only contest where you can lose and also win at the same time because how can you complain about your grain not fitting on the last truck it means you got more grain than you expected a majestical john deere s780 on tracks harvesting 250 bushel corn during twilight now that right there is how you load a truck after dark it's called the d.o.t special all right here's the halfway point wow a storybook ending to this field 100 full grain tank on the last through actually he definitely might have been running it off the back but just keep that between you and i he doesn't need to know there's another 200 acres of corn down leaves us with about 150 to 200 to go that's probably gonna be wetter because this was surprisingly dry and high yielding it's funny how quickly things go from get that stupid blower away from me to why don't you just leave that in my cab been commandeered by the boss for a much better cause the green card is beyond salvation the combine you can at least blow it off all right folks so we're gonna let her sit cool down shut her off and then we're calling tonight worry about all this in the morning catch you guys again the next episode i appreciate you all tuning in like the video if you enjoyed it subscribe if you want to see more and comment down below if you have any questions you know i love to talk about farming have a great day everyone peace [Music] you
