I feel bad having to cut that song off I'll be honest with microphone check one two what is this the jbp boys back to business run episode farming work episode 323 is that what you're doing why you look dyslexic what are you doing sorry welcome to episode 323 of the Joe Budden podcast I'm your humble gracious grateful and highly favored and narcissistic host Joe but he would have fueled my nearest and dearest friends brother Mallis here brother parks is here brother Rory is here brother Erikson is here brothers Savon is here brother Alex the great sister rim is here huh how's everybody doing man how y'all feeling great I know five years a little matter you rap names like common dude why why did you come prepared come on Joe this is your time first of all you're an almost well first of all your what before you're lying first of all what I've come and didn't rhyme anything some syllables that didn't quite match from the Milwaukee Bucks y'all it's not to take culpo I was like no I was born what time is this over I just want them to play basketball first of all this guy did not make resurrection I'm certain y'all give your takes this is how I get in trouble and in 2020 I want to get in trouble less okay so what did you guys think okay Gary M seek Chicago MC common sense we love common and I loved how involved common was the entire Wigan to come for me oh it's coming because I loved he was in the the Celebrity game I loved that he was a judge in the dunk contest he was just walking in Chicago for b-roll I loved that he looked over the Lego City and was like I'm from this side and then someone else came in it was like but I'm from this side like I loved all of that I thought it was great I thought his poem in the beginning was cool are you building a month you got to break him down break him down I wished she would went home to LA at that point I did not need 30 minutes of him trying to rhyme foreigners names the announcement was fine ladies was cool the poem was long but it was it was good though he could've gave me a 16 I'm supposed to say that I'm saying nothing before Sunday everywhere I have never seen a weekend where I was begging to see g herbo yeah her beau or little Dirk more like give me do or die where's twisted common common already wanna be - ball hog in a celebrity game try to get him beep you tried to bang it on he's just right he played it just right he played for the nets like in that movie so he's like you play basketball in college or something - what he did in college why do I have to watch common sense try to bang it on quavo but wait we're in Chicago and it's Friday night and my loser ass is in the house doing nothing so why don't you stop hating Joe let calm and enjoy yourself that's what I told myself before I went to bed yeah then Saturday came guess who I see again [ __ ] common sing on the wake up what was he doing Saturday some [ __ ] I'm like alright you got it him and Cali they stroll out there yeah cool I'd never thought I would see comment on Sunday and here he is Sunday night waiting to ask for that freestyle yo-yo oh I hear Joe that's why y'all want me to rewind no I like the poem about Chicago like all the players that came up out of Chicago been Wilson and d-wade like I like how he paid that was cool but that announcement of the scarf we got good fooled here I just ate while I'm at it y'all shoutout to d-wade yeah he's from Chicago he ahead gonna win online and good food and I'm on the restaurant I went online thing bleacher report or somebody puts putting up common Clips Eliot somebody that post clips uh and all the comment said oh that's why he's the goddamn see of Chicago who better from Chicago I'm like Lupe I didn't feel like a real piece of [ __ ] when I was watching him announce everyone and I was looking at my timeline at the same time and everyone was up in arms about how amazing it was and I was sitting on the couch like I think I'm gonna wait for the second half I thought it was good until they like you said the player announcement and fans listen another one of those moments where Rory and Maul shortchange you guys on an amazing analysis and don't utilize their platforms because they're afraid one day would not comment but common prancing around doing his whole niche raising in Chicago Flag and Rory telling me he live in LA leads me to conversation that y'all be running from about all these rapping [ __ ] that do that that do how a what is the statute statute of limitations for reppin a city that you ain't in ain't Pinton know why I'm a bad mother that's what my wall and I was gonna take it because y'all see what some of your favorite New York rappers ran right down to Atlanta when Atlanta started popping and that's my point I'm still started claiming just cuz you stayed in Edgewater doesn't mean that the rest of the world can go to weather where the actual [ __ ] is happening so tell me will collaborate in LA everyday so it's easy 2020 Rory I don't really [ __ ] with it's fine I'm just throwing that out there it's a feeling as me to Rory so what's the statue limitations I mean I think if you're doing something for your hometown all mobster [ __ ] you alright man you can't sorry common who kind of common isn't that the name that I want to talk about here so Kanye well Kanye did tell us that he was he was never gonna leave Chicago and then left the next morning but I spent my whole weekend trying to figure out what Kanye people were driving giving out Yeezys I didn't either did I miss the vid some type of Decepticon they built a [ __ ] a diva's that's why the Tesla I was gonna say was it the Tesla with the windows that break I don't know this [ __ ] had windows it looked good though alright well shoutout to Kanye for kill now sneakers and shout out to all you rappers that move out of your city as soon as you get a deal and hip hop is so much more than just New York Atlanta LA now like you kind of have to leave to go nice bill just um that's not really try to give the right answer you know we so global now so global why didn't you see this clip right here go screaming I'll put it right there for you for real my beef is not that but why you got to still claim the old city in the new city that's what I'm asking I mean with your schools why you can't throw in a my way of my way means you're just there for a little stint all right [ __ ] it you spent a good 20 in the hometown this year old ten common one one our MVP with ten points he was in Chicago chance was also everywhere well how was his brother I did mr. performance chances brothers chance his brother played in the celebrity game I think Rory and and while this podcast has existed has accrued beefs with rappers that he won't tell us about not something chance is on that list I think Chancellor can you guys make up your mind and now I'm a chance no it's John Sirica Taylor Bennett it might be Taylor Bennett my friends want to know how Rory just heard that chance I loved them and thought it was hard no seriously how you come back ten months after that trash and say that there was art there Roy as Rory has hired an image consultant they're doing a shitty job with my clothes I'll tell you that much what did y'all think all-star weekend oh I was still on Taylor Bennett oh yeah you think it was like you're Taylor Bennett take my take was a bit well it was this the same time like I'd imagine when you had siblings that your mom said you have to take your little brother with you if you're gonna go to the courts so Taylor Bennett had to go play in the celebrity game would chance according to chances mom sounds about right I always feel bad because you could tell the dudes that once that are not used to getting so much camera time because they start doing extra [ __ ] when they get camera time I felt like Taylor Bennett was a little little extra sauce on it yeah yeah so you're saying it's okay for what you thought was gonna happen I didn't know I never thought about the elevator before now we talked about if I looked exactly like my famous brother I'm not myself anymore I think that's why you were upset a comment the entire time mmm good boy yeah you did go for the bald beard champion in combo that's cool wait what combo the ball with a beard the common combo you see you see a more puts a bond onto the Basquiat [ __ ] why do you made me throw my Big Sean hoodie you can't [ __ ] on Big Sean for three years and didn't do a pull-up and then now you gotta study all the buddy-buddy you're not doing that I'm not letting you do that I'm not gonna let you go out like dad did you see the headlock yes it was a wrestle yeah they settled it right there yeah like grown men yeah but you can't put the hoodie one after the headlock let's talk for two hours I'll let you know saying in that high school where my [ __ ] Murch Oh got you did he give you no key I did think that a long but you gotta let [ __ ] do they weird [ __ ] instincts you Lee the next move from here is to pick you up off of the ground can I do that to Big Sean at the pull-up now I'm not gonna do that to this show it's good merchants number one notice and number two it's not that I ward so much because it was Big Sean's merged like product placement is important sometimes if you just bring a hoodie that ain't a horrible would it one day a [ __ ] gonna need to just throw early on oh yeah and that's what happened today it wasn't like that's an image consultant if I've ever heard one yeah wasn't it wasn't like a stylish thing with me you guys you just thought it was a nice thing you Stalin oh no look at you I'd rather talk about nothing for our than get into how you really feel on our five-year anniversary anything to not discuss your emotion I avoid now I avoid I know so give me some all-star [ __ ] look I love the odd a new format in the game I can't end on a free throw I mean games I know that was way too much excitement for it to end at the free-throw line my god like that but I do love the new format how would they change that time let's win by two yeah like the other team should be able to come down and get an opportunity to score and if you stop them then you win win by two can't win it from the line yeah okay well I apologize cuz I should I should learn it right when I see yeah well the entire NBA anybody who had anything to do with the rule changes boy do I owe you an apology what an amazing game but you know what that's not fear because I was [ __ ] on the rules partly because we've never seen the NBA players play serious an all-star game so change means nothing if the players are not gonna play serious but for some reason to players played semi-serious and that was really enjoyable to watch this is the first year they did the donation thing and in that way I think yeah okay that may have attributed possibly to them playing harder as well but I kept feeling really bad cuz I wasn't quite sure if cuz it kept showing the kids in the different color uniforms and [ __ ] I was like wait so at one point is the whole half of this gym gonna be disappointed tell me how you feel about all these donations that may happen or not yeah I liked it though I love the format definitely got to win by two though for sure is that the end of your all-star now and I didn't understand why uh they had Luka and Trey young on the bench in the fourth quarter like I didn't understand y'all need to score you got Luka and Trey young sitting on the bench and somebody was out there but that cow Lowry was running around all right stop right young we have this conversation every year but I may have it again miss um Kyle Lowry smoke coming whoa no enough of me protecting you we feel the same way mole I was set up I just said it why every year is he out there no he deserves to be an all-star Toronto absent no Toronto's playing grinnell 30 so we got to pick dudes because no he deserved her at the game but he deserves to watch the game which one of you called him Raymond Felton with drinks phone number it was one of you to me he [ __ ] slapping the hardwood on the left when I got him well you're not even supposed to be out here with this 9 yeah but I was looking at Luca and Trey young on a bench like ah they should be on the floor right now no you're first of all forget you guys sit down you can't down this very hotel it's better in time yesterday the way Luca plan I can't tell this is first of all so gay like how you looked under this season what you didn't draft him for your fantasy team first bit you didn't mmm what's your record I'm third in the league what is your record oh she knows like oh you're 260 or some like this point okay got it got it got it I never played all fantasy basketball yeah um we don't deserve Aaron Gordon that's my takeaway for the weekend yeah that's my takeaway for the weekend Dwyane Wade man you would what a naughty boy what Dwyane Wade's annoyed he's the one that skewed the points I mean it hasn't come out said I'm not the only one that gave him a nod like I do you a did you want to make a like now I was some other knowledge up there do y'all think Aaron Gordon won the dunk on telling me I start there I think he has two of the best done small-time in the Duncan yeah I think he won don't get it twisted or all isn't one of the best dogs ever seen this was nuts folks pass off the side it's turn around grab it in the air one hand look at the rim find it again oh it's ridiculous that is one of the best dunks I've ever seen and somehow he lost to a guy that did the same dunk four times every angle and it was a dunk that looked amazing not in slow-mo yeah like it looked crazy regular yeah he definitely put on a show the first time that uh Derrick General jr. did the under the leg don't everybody went crazy Twitter erupted and I'm sitting like see that's why I seem to be seeming like a hater because I've seen this dunk like why do I it's not a same no not that one we haven't seen no I'm not not going spinning the opposite way with the left yeah one of them shits after telling y'all y'all y'all have to go on team flight bro no no okay no it's my NBA but these NBA dudes ain't creative to me which is wildin leading up to the dunk contest I've been championing the dude that's just in the gym buggin out yeah and another thing this is nitpicking right now you should find some way to add those those guys in though cuz those guys are insane yeah this is nitpicking right now but I also don't like how high his leg goes in all of the between the leg dunks he has to get his legs but look how high his knee gets you know to look at that and know that you did this for know get him the [ __ ] then just redid his dunk to prove to everyone yeah I could do that too I'm doing some other great [ __ ] over here stop giving him 50s yeah you know I give man let me not be bitter but [ __ ] Aaron Aaron Gordon to the time it took to even be as creative with the dunks as he's been in the last two dunk contests I've seen from him there's like Dan we're now gonna award creativity at all del fam he wasn't even running far to get the lead into to dunking and he was just walking back to the three-point line see right here glass got that year and put it under both of his legs that was in they was killing him for taco fall been in his head he's 75 he cleared him anyway but his hands was up even if he didn't clear him all right oh now you only jumped over seven one of them I don't understand it but congratulations to everybody Aaron Gordon said after the dunk contest that we don't deserve him and he will not be participating anymore and y'all gonna be real mad about that next year you're not gonna be real mad about that next year when we stuck with that little white boy from the Bucks that's right I booked on Connaughton look at Horry I'm gonna call it a me what's his name Joe Connaughton oh we could get is Connaughton with a t-shirt man yo get your ass back to Milwaukee you know unit way so you didn't like when you jumped over to chance the rapper or whoever that is or whoever that is we're gonna get snuffed I [ __ ] with chance I'm surprised but that's part why y'all didn't to do a deuce a clues in Chicago well our common was booked I was trying to get them what else have involved or more give us the real report man yeah what was going on in the time line what was going on in the algorithms I don't I don't care about basketball it was it wasn't that crazy honestly like I didn't see too much missed it - uh - Cole - I just I think that kind of I think that kind of kept kept it under your whole lawyer talking about you can you you holes don't get cold and this weekend kind of disproved that looks like huh I'm seven degrees out there sevens too cold for all no I know but um respect the holes they go only hole when it's hot you got a hole through it all yeah yeah that's what yes what makes you gotta follow the money like Wall Street you will make them any different right you they wasn't out there but it's different now cuz you could hold from in all climates say they was intense the snap and ko check either done [ __ ] don't like to show their coats hasta diddy and then you sear coat yeah it's like way way way way dress outside of the bathing suit no no go change my point of view yeah no more good morning sex for you like I don't give a [ __ ] about your thong and the Louie Vuitton sneakers that show all wear is cool yeah like I [ __ ] with y'all mm-hmm but then when you actually put some pants on [Music] buddy where you get your Ziva maybe trying to fix it oh my god I don't know anybody's from my waist you got a waist and they they make your side your surgeon designs for fashion over is dedicated to you yes shape facet facet is it a legend he's a legend didn't help our swimsuits and he designs girls yeah how about a surgeon to surgeon you get to walk through money I'll get the lingerie money all those promo codes that goes in my pocket it may be so proud to promote alright anyway of all-star weekend that's enough all-star weekend any other takes anything we missed keep that format but changed it got a 1x2 toe got one about to get the team of change go and Kauai continues not to like any of y'all I love the three-point contest I see it I did it was great who-whoa and it's been great buddy he'll come on Sacramento he was one of my three picks to win it which were Devin Booker Duncan Robinson and uh buddy he'll I ain't know anything like five people in knows Matthew okay oh I saved you choosing three out of five homeboy from my homeboy from Washington came out did almost shot all my hopes down he was I was he he was Burt honest he wouldn't play no game I was lost money [ __ ] well you know I wish you woulda texted me and told me all right you guys this is when we have to cover the tough topics like breakups tackle we tell coming off a balance I'm gonna tackle them yeah coming right off of Valentine's Day we didn't we didn't really provide analysis when Ray J and Princess love did whatever they did mmm is that her last name love you truly love it no I'm not Joey I'm Joey eight kailani and yg seemingly have separated Oh after the single Joe right when we were believing in love now I don't bring that up here because we care about their breakup cuz we don't speak for yourself I don't maybe that's why parties taking so long to come out Jonah Jonah trying to outweigh the chick you love the boots you wait yeah I'm a way for y'all to fail and a way for love so then drop my album wait for love Oh more you can act like you know nothing about that bad I got you right now man hey okay so listen to this you guys yg and Kalani have seemingly separated and we know this because Kalani went on her socials and said I have separated from that guy which is cool we don't care about this but we did receive some new music from this which I feel like I feel like I feel like I've been hoodwinked cuz it was just last week we came with his podcast Rory made me listen to a yg and Kalani song I hated it on the first listen okay and then by the second listen I loved it yeah I was in I was with this new image of yg being in love and making songs like he's in love also wait hold up forgot that enough in our we later on when we get into our podcast anniversary rant mmm the Nicki and meek apart remind me about that now Oh back to Kalani so kailani put a record out did she put this out on Valentine's Day I believe so yes I think was on Valentine's oh no three days after Valentine's Day and the record is called Valentine's Day she's shameful it was probably written all over a hole over Luther go down about that and that's why I can't fall in love [ __ ] know me willing to wait for love no more no no what are we to death not a single soul first no no I understand that's my Luther talking so I want to play this kailani record because it's unlike any kailani record I've ever heard man one day a true yes it is I could play you seven songs it sounds just like this I don't think you could we're not gonna do it right now yeah okay well what I mean by this is a long time Kalon I discovered her in high school making that la Bop type [ __ ] which is very pay this record right here I have never heard kailani enunciate words this way drag outwards this way she really wants us to know how much you a piece of [ __ ] yg is but she's hiding behind the thin veil of I'm not telling you guys who I'm talking about you gotta tear apart her mother in the same bag it was the letter I want to say it's called she saw her mother apart Rory putting me on storm all my hell yeah but it's fine no why oh I guess her mother abandon her and all that but she tore apart you know will come with a baby alright we're gonna play this record here get this back Oh when they gotta make amends with their self they always be lying yeah we gotta stop that right there stop I mean a gunshot man yeah why does every chick go through that bag I took a risk liking you I heard so much about you like me to use the slide risk-loving the slide stop right there see no other sighs yeah I should have ignored the signs of my friends say yo ya heard that [ __ ] was fire you bring it to the blog yard that [ __ ] was fine I ignore the signs to my defended you proudly mom like you keep that on your own will word it's fun she being mature now she ain't gonna make I stop stop stop stop stop stop stop this was released three days after Valentine's Day after the day she said that they broke up that was the immature me three days ago you know somebody's playing the woman's brain to me good luck we don't got enough time you with immature three days ago really mom apparently not at all figured out now I see life's totally differently after 36 hours the [ __ ] up part is she smoking this [ __ ] no no this song is great and she stepped on that [ __ ] single step that our own publishing chicks don't care what they step on when they're in a rage they don't they don't care what they ruin so you laptops I've gone through the record is her single no na na I think it's my G that's why G single is it featuring her oh no they did that little n thing when we don't know I told it was $17.99 but it's a sound k2 isn't the hub yeah that's her yeah that's her single that's a record ice all right that that's why man why you did me wrong and I put you on my album this the 2 pack oh gosh the bundle yeah you're telling us who we is Kalani hey you're snitching oh I'm the bigger person hey when they go low you go high no you crazy ma you was great well first of all I wasn't screaming after you guys announced your relationship and then yg was caught kissing that girl on the red car outside of the award show and then you stayed there it was like alright yeah I thought that's what Ilan's were that's in play that's the vibration yeah that's what you thought so I don't understand that part in this song I'll do it they was out there freaking off yeah no apparently not let's go back to the Tampa oh that's a famous war idea mmm you intuitive dad [Music] all right use me for status and the famous no I'm not wrong in it I just feel like it they say YG's a big artist in kiss I'm just saying farkles bigger blotchy lagi excreted a but wait no that's not fear though that's something male misogynistic you we're doing not kailani is me future is bigger than Laurie argue but I think that he's using her purpose and recognition that's fair point that's a fair point that's fair that's fair kailani gay that [ __ ] a little low bolt she definitely helped change his image she definitely up changes image you for sure they've been dating for a week that's the part I'm confused about where I'm so glad you said that that's how fast I'm so confused about girl guide do sir we are falling victim to the 2-pack this marketing plan is working perfectly hmm like they're killing us we live together for four months now she feeling oldest you know what's a girl tell you how to wear your pants and the type of haircut to get she changed you she made you yeah she made you who you are today he wasn't getting that haircut four months ago party-hearty gonna try and double back now yo I told you yo I told you man's told you and you would [ __ ] on me because I made you try to kill yourself look at that [ __ ] [Laughter] oh you don't even deserve recognition from me give yourself credit all right I gotta give myself credit but wait did you hear for loving as hard as I did no did you see the second line no no no I want to hear before you say it you know how long it takes to fight an addiction is not a week flabbergasted by this I told you when we start counting she is telling a gang she is telling a gang member yeah allegedly allegedly that he ain't experienced [ __ ] before and she changed his entire life Biggles in shootouts and survived yeah I thought even come on top of this kailani thing I thought this was a breeze man regrets man we're let's stop lying in this song in the first you don't mean I took a chance [Music] she's a shame it's okay so I wrote a record about you she sounds great though this song is great don't get it twisted and yesterday damn she be lost is that yeah yeah she never found themself from that day since 12 hours ago mondays are rough though it's tough to find yourself over Monday she in a case of the Mondays yeah I wonder if she know that she is giving him recognition yeah what the horse the whole the fact that you're nothing to me you'll deserve this except you gave me a four-minute fire record almost five minutes I must know if it's recognition fire or fire I love you Kalani yeah k2 when is that coming out yeah if she doing this if she doing this on there lying on dudes [Laughter] music that lies is pretty funny that's my bad music there's lying about each other from R&B to rap just live rope if it sounds good big fat slice it's okay yeah if it sounds good it's okay wait what is she doing on the second half of this record I feel like the points have been driven home at 2:33 well you've given us four courses in one verse oh yeah I got a make the beat going to water now no [ __ ] that I'm really hurt because I said cuz I'm drowning yeah I'm hitting you with some Drake on the end of this I can't believe you heard me how could you have done that to me you have to say they promise the stage this lawn is the greatest lawn in the whole record why they do that they do wish they didn't do that why do it but I told you by man not to do that four months ago when we started and you know ygb getting hammered drunk you know why these are drunkie drunkie let me tell you is someone who was an alcoholic and has had plenty of women go through they phone when they was drunk a hangover as bad as it when it starts with something being thrown at your cheekbone mm-hmm oh my god different to Rory's point like women just look at it like we want to go on your phone we want to see what you don't want to find out what you're keeping from us like the man's brain when it go deep get to oh I can't be at home where I pay bills and feel safe and just put my phone down no like that violation is is great women never quite view it through that lens know why I don't know because they'll say well what you did was a violation well it's to our point last week about that chicks don't care do we pay the rent no give a [ __ ] though it's a standard I don't want you to sleep comfortably looking through your phone to see what you did at 4:00 p.m. you [ __ ] how these bills get paid I ain't gonna Pam but [ __ ] let's take it dear [ __ ] we ballin' they were factor looked a million times they go through your phone and didn't find anything no no give me credit for that no no you never even heard about that your phone was just back in the same place yuck yeah yes that I am gonna live happily ever after with the [ __ ] by the way if you check my text I've been thinking about this for quite something no you so much sex you've seen I said I love though I love her okay here you come ruining some [ __ ] she'd get no [ __ ] off hope you [ __ ] around have the Sun you want it look how salty she's there though y'all might be soul mates after all this so out on the table your friends and your family even your label everyone loved me damn is so shameful I kept you stable you should be grateful I ain't find out sooner that you was unfaithful damn you so shameful so [ __ ] shameful well that hold on that's a contradiction to all you said your love was so pure at the top right and then set at the outro y'all might be soul mates after this and then completely continued to [ __ ] on me but if your love was so pure and that was my soul mate you would have no problem with me leaving and going with my soul mate cuz your love is so pure and you're so proud of your [ __ ] love like how does that make any sense don't brag about your love and then when you say that's just soul mate you're mad yes that's my issue that I was talking about when I said like if we truly love each other wouldn't you want me to be happy with my side in spite of how you feel about it unconditional love sure I love it right well tit love to a lot of people is a pick and choose buffet if you will and they want to take the things that benefit them as people do and don't look at the definition of what love is gunshots please what exactly did you eat before the game was your warmup eat that before every game you know what's going on at home oh do you guys have any parting words for kamalinee the great keep making music like this oh this song is fired this is an amazing record you killed this [ __ ] and yg I mean if she gets back with you leave leave you don't put a password on your phone if this is what's this was great for us yeah oh that's what you say in watching like watching now you got him yeah why why why do you two games - they have let her gone in his phone while he was drunk sleep no you should be able to get drunk drunk sleep at home and don't think that she wasn't watching him get drunk and plotting that the whole night mm-hmm funny [ __ ] is I know the chick that she she peeved about got tats - she got tasks - you got a little soundcloud page what yeah what's that washy man you don't know she mad do you get to the ni ah maybe so man I don't know hope y'all happy not using kind of peep-toe vibe in the Texas it wasn't the name I got her stored as [ __ ] I love the most didn't tell you nothing nothing you can we have more in common your line in support which is always go further than they need to define what they need to find like I told you I'm having a blast here you gonna scroll back to 70 weeks in our text yeah I don't know what I told us 70 weeks ago for real oh you don't know tell me [ __ ] way to go wasting valuable makeup a lifetime without knowing what you know I know and this goes back to my point that I'm gonna make when my life is in a better place sometimes relationships are better when the guys being a piece of [ __ ] mmm this kid is just pulling out all the same like sometimes it's better for both of us you know the three ships I can go if I can just repeat myself do from Washington what's over there huh you're Burton's don't know if I can just be Who I am I promise you to be better for both of us and not to be toxic right now has struggled with mental health in the past right yes she has so before she puts this song out I need to know what yg did for her mental health because sometimes that's a trade dudes feel like they can make like I I saved your sanity I can [ __ ] her well she's saying the opposite that she saved him yeah that's what she said that's always this family I love women so I can't say anything right here but we know sometimes you ain't gotta say nothing right there uh Kyrie Kyrie wasn't so bad huh oh I you've been in some offices you finish some offices no I know there were some words hybrid marketing here we go I'm done DX yeah but I'll talk about the guys version of that oh one Mike what we desk and what they think is just oh yeah situation dude be like the one that you dated for three days how about saying funny she's funny she's the chick that got away from me is like homegirl a month and a half ago did you talk about 12 years ago I'm in trouble I'll say a name when it's podcast me the whole crew of people that go see if I follow somebody by that name no that's not I didn't know in the book that's a man normal named I yeah until you follow and until they find exactly I wasn't sure if y'all so the shots that Rex sent bet back to us wait turn in Johnny that shot back my god my god that's honey dip I was like oh that's the subtle shot and then he moved on I was like whoa Rory honey we be some out she wasn't in that little cramped up room she wasn't in that little room with that know that for your pee nose you got a laugh at it though dip dip Rory's iTunes is too equipped for me it was a record anyway mo who chase it now on is the room he don't give it up on here tell me I'm just trying to follow like I try to quadruplets have some light other day more heart see me to see I like this more than them [ __ ] unlike it to like it again a what you want me to do man I'm out here alright five year anniversary five year anniversary it's all do doot-doot it's a a all right you guys Rory pulling out a little foam it crying feeling about a five-year anniversary man I feel pretty me a round of applause for roars man no no no [ __ ] that Oh save on like my post thanks they want it started on 46th Street in a brownstone Oh what Evers through the world I'm glad we never you know worn the same they tried to take our it was just three friends at first yeah you know it was a game night it was a game night you know you had to bring some liquor there were some microphones tell the audience how you guys are feeling with our five-year anniversary being right here time flew by five years does not seem like accurate number but here we are it's accurate marks Linda I know I saw the tweets yes all started as a twinkle in the eye it actually all started at New York all-star weekend it was it started you and I agree on this idea telephone la boda Sunday I've never been in Lavo and I'm tired all the cool kids danny hola vote is sunday i want to see what the fuss is fern said the bottles are 1100 that's like that's life for you know spanish things always feel like they have to buy bottles everywhere to go i've never subscribed today can you come celebrate we haven't hung out as a pod in a while that is true that's cuz I'm a skier job is gonna jump me all right you guys some of you may know always but I shout out to our Spotify listenership our YouTube viewer ship shout out to our first and last time listeners to loop y'all shout out to everybody listening from work shall day by listening from home excuse me now as some of you may know this is our five-year anniversary hold up [ __ ] no that's too low that was six month anniversary BRB here we go it's our five-year anniversary much has changed so much as not much has changed out there in the landscape so we got rid of that word in 2020 to write landscape yes we did yes what do we use to describe it now so science climate we get rid of climate climates going climate makes you sound smart sometimes the scope the scope the terrain the scope might not be a puppet Tareen I like Tareen let's do terrain in 2020 if you look at raps terrain right now you guys wanna you guys want to go on this go on this fantastic voyage with me let's go really don't know how to get [ __ ] with you can walk least tell me about some of the pivotal times that have occurred in this walk I came a year later so yeah I have to go from the very beginning well you came to me I don't [ __ ] out which I was doing was different no who's there from day one like you know exactly the February 18th 2015 I wasn't there I came a year later I believe was overcast it might have been in the mid 40s if I remember is a dark and Kono's 54th Street I meant the temperature right next to studio 54 if you can find the connection there destined moment I saw Studio 54 I knew his distant yeah you guys if you haven't been able to tell Rory is gonna joke through this whole thing so which one of you and actually I have to do it alright guys those early mornings we don't have lost sessions I would come meet you guys at 54th Street and fall asleep on the couch for a minute listen man I used to I used to take my lunch break so I'd always pretend I had a meeting an hour before or after I put a fake calendar invite to nobody just so no one could book me at that time I take a lunch break and run up to 54th Street talk some [ __ ] maybe even drink a little on the job and run right back to my job moonlighting because the podcast was quicker back you know much quicker yeah we tried to not go over hour and a half at that time actually that's what I would like to talk about I'd like to talk about from me because this is one of the most commonly asked questions when I'm outside for the other podcasters out there and shout out to the other podcasters out there by the way understand what that terrain is like for others it's a rough terrain the Creator but one of the most commonly asked questions to me anyway is because a lot of the pack podcasters struggle with feeling stagnant and feeling like alright how do I grow this thing and we were there too so I like to give them the moments in the podcast that I think we're pivotal in to making it what it is today what's the first first moment like that for you Rory honestly the SOB show and I don't know when that was really in the I'll tell you why of course there's always Twitter and people I could see them responding and we're being consistent at that time but when we got to s OBS and you and I had that idea like kill me we should just try to do a live joint and you were like and and do what I'll be honest that sounded like the crazy side oh no you did it I had to I guess that it had to beg you to do that's why that's pivotal year that is pivotal um and then seeing people like respond to us sitting there talking I can't like ask that concept though yeah it's a weird one what year was that oh yeah yeah I really grasping it now still a weird one I'll say that up before every show I'll say I cannot believe that there are so many people out there waiting were forced to sit down and talk but where it was you know the same way we talked about now it's like one big inside joke and I'll [ __ ] that's why I so bees was such a pivotal moment to me then because it's even more intimate and you can literally hear everything everyone's saying it's not like some of these theaters we do now where you can't hear the people it just sounds like noise i bombed their show oh is a horrible show we all did horrible they're really really bad my specifically bomb that show well you you tried you the story thing I saw what she was trying to do I missed I misjudged our audience at the time yeah but the way they were responding with stings specific to the podcast I was like oh this is a thing like this is part of people's lives that's why sops was so pivotal to me I was like this is really like they wake up this is their daily what we used to think AM radio was or what we maybe would think serious with Howard was this is something that's really part of their morning right so to me that was a really pivotal moment I was just telling them Brandon who has his own podcast shout to grassroots podcast I was just telling Brandon the other day that as a creative you just never know what works and you just have to try [ __ ] well maybe that was somebody at the pull up I think we were talking about it briefly - we're talking with the band comparing it to a band like the different personalities you need to have a make a band work or a group of any sort really and for me that story always or that thought always leads me to when I leaked that that Drake clip of me tomorrow would have been had a rose I was on at the time but which was gonna get to my next thing on adderall with live shows but continued um what am I saying oh the dad that was a that was me coming to y'all saying alright alright you guys we need to just start promoting [ __ ] and we can't afford a video guide so somebody just take the phone and video took the phone and video I don't know whose video we might have just sat it somewhere it might have been me holding your phone but I'm in bed the next morning I like you know a let's see how these little Clippy things work no that's not what happened I'm gonna snitch on that episode that changed this whole podcast we recorded in an episode about views Joe put that clip out right away and the response was so insane that Joe called me and said we have to do new episode cuz that episode was trash on this view stake and we got to do a real one and I was like bet I think it was my birthday I think I left my job on my birthday Gordon it was my birthday and we couldn't even record a 54th Street we went to total over the first time and we had to redo that views thing not to change and he takes it was just a bad episode that's all it was yeah I don't think people realize that that clip that you see Joe is not that actual episode yeah in his damn part but I'm just saying I didn't think that clip would take off that way you just never know what will catch fire or what won't catch fire that was a real pivotal moment Oh huge mati leaving the mall coming on still we've never asked them all to be a permanent member here by contract I guess before you got there I didn't want to talk about the south by show the south by show getting you to go to south bar was another task in itself which was a task in all of ourselves I think we Steph hooked me up with I forgot his name he's a good dude now god I forgot his name whatever we did that [ __ ] in Austin Texas and went out there for the weekend and had the worst time of our lives - the best time of our lives and I did a show on so much adderall I think was most adderall I've ever taken in my entire life and we bombed again oh my god we bombed again that was a big we bombed a few shows oh did we remember that dude passed out drunk in the middle of the show yeah and then us as a crowd and podcast took a picture with him passed out the guy that Oh mr. Graff somewhere well I'm glad the shows have improved certainly um amor you your arrival was big pause um okay I'll accept that I think it was for me it was um you came and spice things up I don't know I would say spice I think that it was just a dynamic that was already there with a you and I and then um I think that kind of just translated well or don't you know audio that makes it hard to fire you because I have another friend like this no honestly then I think where Rory it just I understand Rory's a degeneration guy like we have 10 11 years on Rory but gods like Rory unnecessary because he represents that generation after us so to me coming in it it was a con sorry for your generation no it was a comfortable fit only because I respect you know I was in we were in his shoes you know like I said before I used to have to sneak to listen to snoop and artists like that because my mom didn't understand it but my mom was a fan of LL and Big Daddy Kane and by that age I was like I'm not listening to that you know I wanted to hear the gangsta [ __ ] you want to focus a committed to focus on the rapper's if mom was a fan oh no the fit to me was natural arm and it for us it started as our weekly to me it felt like let's just come in here and just talk about what guys talk about and let's just put it out there and if people love it they love it if not whatever at least we got some [ __ ] off our chests but then I think I I think I want to say the the Highline Ballroom live show I think what for me definitely that's when I knew that this was something different well I'm pulling up to Highline and seeing the line around the corner when was that for the people that don't know 17:17 for sure I can't I have to go through my Instagram look at the exact day but um for me that was the moment of oh [ __ ] like I don't this is something real you know yeah like when you get to see the people like you know you can sit down and record and see numbers on a streaming platform like oh [ __ ] people look clicking but when you show up to a place they're out there and then they feel like they know your story they know you and they share which it's like oh people are really subscribing to this and that's when for me it hit like this is something that means something to the culture online ballroom 2017 our highest paid show at $10,000 mmm yeah I'll be honest I've really let's I hate touring would you say I think just what door splits like guarantee for yeah yeah but yeah just as somebody who hates touring and couldn't understand grasp the concept of just speaking in front of people I'll be honest my conversations with Ian bond it seems like fam how many much times you want me do this mm-hmm and a part of me felt like y'all y'all a part of me felt like I didn't want to rob y'all of the experience of performing in front of that type of crowd because I'm jaded so I rolled sometimes you just got a role too yeah well that's I mean I think those live shows kind of spoke to why this podcast comes off so authentic cuz mall and I and you to some degree so much of that time even though you did the hot 97 thing we're not broadcasters we're not media personalities like we didn't come from that background and then just adapt it to the podcast we adapted to this entire genre kind of we kind of on the fly like week-long I'd never spoke in front of any when I walked on that stage at SOPs that was the first time I'd spoke in front of people period mm-hm and then your next show is Highline and then from there you're doing a tour in theaters like I think it's some learning on the fly [ __ ] yeah but that's to me that's the UH that's the beautiful part podcasting is you know yeah grow with it you grow with the platform you grow with the people you grow with your audience and to me like like I said that Highline Ballroom show to me was when it clicked like okay this is this is real and then you know looking back to I think the the second time I felt like that I think was in that Atlanta when we walked on stage at the Tabernacle that was ridiculous it was staged was literally shaking yeah man it felt real good yeah I had my favorite show Dallas I think my two favorites yeah that was that to me that was like the show where it was like oh [ __ ] like this is real yeah before you get to all it's real because it's Ilana it's real moments let's let's let's go back and because the hyaline show at that time if that's not the benchmark somewhere around that time we started to have conversations about okay how long can we continue to do this for free yeah I think that's real important to give into Kunia y'all speak to that yeah it was uh one of my favorite Fontaine lines my press was much bigger than my SoundScan mm-hmm like we were looked at starting to become a real legitimate podcast not just in the quote-unquote urban space like if you looked at those numbers we were doing real numbers but all we were doing was spending money and losing money so what kind of guys like like yeah I love that we're doing this and let's do it for the culture and all those cool words that we love to use and actually believe and really stand for but it was like I've like we got to do something here mm-hmm we're gonna be running in circles well that day if we missed the window of the money that still happens but um before you store them all oh you guys went up when I'm just so you know when I'm bored sometimes I go back to see what each of us would have made had we taken some of those deals for run I thank god I think that's a natural thing to do though I think you have to do like it also it also lets you know that you know sometimes you have to say no like it's okay to say no that you look back and [ __ ] you said no to and you you're reminded like okay yeah I will we'll be fine like we can stand in this moment and just like nah we're not gonna do that right now and then something bet is on and on top of that like that was what around the three two year three year one mm-hmm at that time you know I think five years is a long time but it's still not that long if you look at the scope of things mmm so jumping at something at three years I think we all just felt like we may be jumping the gun even though we're losing money we shouldn't grab the first thing that has dollar signs cuz it what this could become well again at that time I felt kind of bad for like y'all like you was going to work still relax devoting your time devoting I like that and it's like voting it's like okay cool Joe is passionate about this thing Joe can continue to do this just for the free but like my guys I feel like are new in this field and how much longer can I expect them to devote their time without being paid like I think that's why I may be considered some of those what to me time I'll never lead a deal you know because I'm all shut up I'm Ellen you're from huge tell you why I wasn't at first though because I'm talking about it first at first with Shelly friends yeah first at first you don't you don't think about the money because it's like you don't even really know what money to accept like you don't even know how to really get paid for this [ __ ] yet like when you first starting it and building it it's like we don't know what we was happy getting me undies like crazy for the for the yoga pants and the whole that like we was cool with [ __ ] like that so those yoga pants I still wear to bed yeah it was cool like that so was it no washing over that that's another really important point to be made of our approach to ads yeah and our stance on taking as the ads we will take Rory brought a lot of them early ads and beveling me undies all of that [ __ ] talks we did a horrible job that's just representing their eldest so so they didn't they didn't continue to pay us because it wasn't the standard way of doing an ad yeah they were taking the chance they didn't even really know how to capitalize off a POC I gotta ask yeah but that's one of those I think I to get on the phone with either the president of talk space or somebody to talk them down about sending us the other half of the money after that talk space ad I was like now you don't understand like Joe comes from that you can go through his catalogue like he would never mock any of that he he really speaks for that truly but our audience enjoy satire and sarcasm those are the best the best way to go that I've ever done yeah it was by far the best way to get this message across to our listeners is to talk to them like they'd like to be talked to right yeah but that's still the fight today I agree like a lot of you advertisers and the old people that work with the advertisers you're thinking is is old and outdated alright and when you get with some some guys that's not gonna just move for the bag No rework your thinking and then come back if you want to do business here anyway it's also unnatural for the format like I dislike when I listen to other podcasts that do take ads and it interrupts the whole stream of [ __ ] as opposed to that particular ad we're just right in the conversation exactly she was like it's part of even if you aren't joking at the time part of the joke and it resonates more with them because they're laughing and enjoying it rather than hitting that little 15-second thing you can hit when add sort of podcast and do I think it's only worth $1,500 for me to integrate an ad and written in our real time in real time for you to avoid the paywall that you like how much is that worth really mmm it ain't worth 15 on it no but I also put a flip side to that coin I do appreciate the early advertisers thinking podcasting was truly effective and it is because a lot of them would be like I'm gonna give them money for a podcast ad and that's why the numbers I think we're so low but I do appreciate some of those advertisers that had the foresight to see the podcast more important and this is a space that should have advertising I agree but how they went about it of course it's early we're all gonna [ __ ] up but it was a stupid way to go about it like reading of 30-second mid-roll and a pre-roll it's just not the best way for the consumer to listen about your product how did I I wasn't about to sacrifice the content that the audience heard over 15 X 2500 it's not worth it totally agree it's not where it's cutting your nose to spite your face if you're playing a long game but you were saying more about I cut you off with my dad [ __ ] but you were going somewhere I think there was two really pivotal pivotal moments in the totowa studio parking lot I think the first one was the full-blown fight that the three of us had not physically that we ended up missing there was like though maybe the two or three time in this entire five-year period that there was no podcast episode mm-hmm cuz we blew up at each other in parking lot I'll be honest with you I don't really remember what it was about you reminded me I don't remember but we we didn't record no we skipped the episode we didn't make it into the studio I think that was a good find I think he was talking about I think at that time I think title was in play Park south know we had that made because that's when y'all was ready to Merc me I remember you exaggerate why was it was a it was a short deal there's only six months six months yeah that's why I was like and we wasn't impressed as you make it out to seem that we were yes sure was no he wasn't yes you were we were interested in hearing more yeah once that was pressed but it was like oh let's not just turn it down let's think about it it's only six months that's that was where I stood on it with options oh yeah every contract got ours absolutely so it's not as we think that was the fight though not at the fight was y'all really that deal I don't think it was title but then that's fine because like I said we've broke at the time so maybe you're supposed to want it my thinking was and is if they offered that if we know but something else out if we in a deal we can't listen to deals hmm that's my only thing so what if while we're building value why are we gonna be in a deal and not talking about title but it may be listen we not get an analytics and information it makes perfect sense now let me just thank you thank you now it makes perfect sense then in a moment it was kind of like family since months not to be too mushy but I do appreciate that from y'all like I do appreciate y'all disagreeing with me because I come I come from jaded music business [ __ ] so my thinking is just different right I do appreciate y'all disagreeing with me but sometimes just riding off of trust absolute you have to you have to ya don't but we're testing whether you have to this is a testament like you have to you got to trust each other even when it seems like the worst idea in the world like just go through it together and when we come out on earth it's like then we look back like I will never do that again or that was the best idea we ever had which brings me to my next conversation in the total parking lot that was so pivotal Joe came and said yeah we got another offer two offers I'm not gonna say what the numbers were but one will be much quicker and you will be much richer very fast if we take this one the other one it's gonna take some time but it'll probably end up being better in the long run long run I think we think was a conversation mm-hmm no that was here that was the yard look saying yeah I remember that one and that one to me again but by that time we knew who you had yeah we know speak for yourself yo y'all y'all certainly shocked me in that conversation oh no no you were surprised by an Irish mom neverthought she always I thought that that was gonna be our next fight two dudes never just pressing me about the title deal and now there is this huge huge deal is gonna make everybody rich and I'm gonna say no let's not take it ya know I don't even think we spent more than five seconds talking about that not at all it's quick um another huge moment for me of the name change yeah yeah from our name this podcast later to the Joe Budden podcast listen I know a lot of y'all out there think that that's due to my narcissism it is not it is not I just saw you guys really confused on how to find this day I see always bad it was pissing me off and even though we ended up on this really simple solution I hated that solution like it took me months the old name was great that was the best podcast name in the world it's just amazing this later the admission out that was my [ __ ] spoke to create a type of [ __ ] but no nobody could find it and on top of that any time I would speak to anyone about the podcast from a monetary value or anything that would push us forward outside of the fans it was like get the button pot I was like alright so I see where this is going let's make it easier for everyone trying to search for the [ __ ] it might have been my idea second oh how about save me I don't get you could call the blue dog she must be turn these mics they gonna find it Rory called me the next morning like so why why why did you say that why the Joe Budden dog ass play we're here - yeah Joe Joe always Joe assumes so much from me seeking basic information I do which is sighs I assume a lot from a little anyway though yeah but sometimes it's just seeking I'd like to know what's going on here yeah yeah both yeah I guess yeah well um me leaving everyday struggle big yeah huge huge huge again I had no idea that those fans would come over here like the podcast journey has been unpredictable to say the least yeah that's that's what I'll say that's a great word for he wanted even skipped over the before mall trying to find like you and I just throwing [ __ ] at a wall like why don't we grab this chick why don't we this dude over here like for a couple of cuz my thinking was it was me and Rory we need a girl that was the thinking for pride two or three weeks and we were really convinced on that and then you and I looked at each other and said well why you're not in a misogynistic way but why information have to be a girl again what why does it have to be um was there any was there any adjustment period for you to as dudes that like Rory said didn't come from broadcasting maybe had no real experience in broadcasting learning the audience how they react to what you say what to say like just being behind a microphone that adjustment off for me I probably it was the biggest adjustment for me I mean you know me personally like I'm opening talking share with you know if it's my people you're right yeah but to random people that I don't even know and to me that was the toughest part that was like oh I don't want to just be talking to random people but I'd I get it so for me kind of don't still talk to me angry going yo fam I appreciate it that's me opening up for me that was the the biggest change it was just uh talking and being open with people that I have no idea who they are for me that was just a very different never imagined I will be doing something like this uh I think for me and earlier I claimed I didn't give a [ __ ] and I know it's cool to say you don't give a [ __ ] about public opinion I had always lived my life amongst my friends I should have smack you in the face I had always spoke like I was speaking to my friends I would always react away knowing my friends knew who I was whether something was out of my character or maybe I didn't mean that or you know what I mean when I say that mmm boy is that different when you have everyone in your mentions with a completely different perception who you are mm-hmm it's nuts or with no perception who you are yeah and now you're just by your mistake yeah and when when I say something said off the fly and when I say something it's not mine like who ever heard me say it now has the luxury of taking my words and making it their perception like I didn't say that just cuz you perceived it that way it doesn't mean I said it that way but and that was another thing I learned that you also are responsible for how people perceive what you're saying I feel some degree like you have you are responsible for how people take in what you put up I've gotten better at it for sure cuz now I know I have to be particular with my words because people nitpick every last syllable that you say and then change it to whatever narrative they want it to be that took some time like and then me just sitting on my tomp like Fanta where you at like where you at right yeah I know it's cool to just sit there and everyone that has a platform like why are you even reacting to these people cuz I'm [ __ ] human right shut the [ __ ] up another you sit over here and do this another moment I think - fusses well no we did we started doing video mmm oh one of the biggest by far the number one I was a year that that was like you know I'm now walking through the same blocks in Harlem but people are saying what's up and yo I [ __ ] with the show and I'm like okay and again no arguments or the arguments or that the conversations that you have with yourself when it comes to some of these things like with all these benchmarks that y'all is saying I'm thinking about my conversation with Ian when it came to that and for Ian to tell me that I had to pay over twenty five hundred dollars a month to record a podcast yeah when I was broke it's not an easy conversation and why and no and why aren't you chipping in since this is such a great [ __ ] idea mm if you believe in it bless it down goddammit well yeah not that was uh that was tough to see zero return to just pay a certain amount and get like 39 cent back but it wasn't about that at the time it was about just growing a field and doing [ __ ] different in the field and I know it's just podcasting but why can't this be a video why can't we be visible why can't this be a you know sorry oh thank god thank God that happened thank God that YouTube page was sitting there dormant yes I had no idea what to do with it after Joe Budden TV and having that many subscribers at that's on that were just chillin yeah like what a cheat code hey you 125,000 people that have been looking at nothing look at this yeah and I had to learn that too because I was listening to podcasts prior to us even starting one and some of them had videos here and there but that's not how I wanted to consume it I prefer to listen to it on the go working working out whatever whatever so when listeners will come out to be like no I just don't let up on the on the screen and not go about my day like I don't even do the audio sometimes learn a new thing to me I was like really cuz you're so when something so new you just think about it in your own lens and you're like oh well this is how I like to do it so it must be how everyone else does which is such a false way to think but yeah when listeners start something acknowledged I do the YouTube man even where Spotify is today shout out to Spotify and thank you but you know even where they are today versus the conversation they had with Ian and myself at the Mondrian downstairs lobby when we were trying to get this deal crate chicken pox done it was like they need to update that menu but uh it's been the same but Jenna Martin chicken parm guy so I don't but that conversation was I mean not to snitching anybody but yo let's just give something a shot let's try this they had no idea what they was getting into they knew we had an audience they knew they had a couple podcast let's see how this works nobody was able to convert their audience to that platform before me so for it to work like that but that very first week we trying to go live the episode is late Spotify the engine or whatever they interworkings idiot take two hours to [ __ ] process and Spotify didn't think that was so important because it's just a podcast but nah y'all got this [ __ ] up people sitting there waiting hitting refresh no it's a to announce something they are at yo and killing y'all and boy was that thank y'all boy was that that was monumental like all those times you just realize how powerful the public's voice is and from that point on when all of y'all's started hitting this - I like fam you ten minutes later you're 20 minutes late you thirty minutes an hour now what foot the [ __ ] are you doing I think they kind of knew the value and was like okay we had to do some things differently here it was never late again yeah and I think I was a morbid thinker when Nick Rosenberg it hit me it was like Spotify looking for you like it was some mysterious thing and I was like I I'm I had a into the email but I honestly didn't because I'm a morbid thinker I was like good old Nick chef Nick yeah shouts Nick Rosenberg and Peter - well but we had hit Spotify and reached out to Spotify and have many other people we reached out to but at least a year and a half prior to our Spotify talks but the thinking always was with us that hey these streaming services and corporations if you just continue to build are gonna have to reach out to you at some point because they're gonna have to license the content mmm like if you don't give the content away for free like we were doing with Apple music and SoundCloud just period because that's the nature of business mhm mhm but if you stop that or compartmentalize it somebody's gonna call and take you off the market mmm and that's what happened man I don't want to I don't want to stay too much on this because I'm already a narcissist it's important because people that have like you said other other other podcasters and people that are creating some they have to know the importance of you have to put in the time because this is work consistency it's not gonna happen overnight consistency patience patience open-mindedness yes uh what what this podcast thrives off of the chemistry between the people that you work with right lawn mic and off mic and knowing the power of saying no that's very important in business period yes that's right right yeah sure but more importantly you have to know wouldn't what to turn down and what's what and be and be okay with it like be firm in that too like no I don't respectfully but no I don't when I'm not doing that in general that this equates to knowing your value you shouldn't always say no but no no absolutely absolutely but there's power in saying no absolutely yeah absolutely so so awareness I think it's right so creators and I hate that word but creators podcasters will see how you sleep at night gauge is that for me mm-hmm it's like it's like when I used to when I used to uh not have enough money to shop if I saw a particular article of clothing and I liked it a lot I would go home and would not purchase it and if I still thought about that article of clothing as I slept then the next day I would go back and get it and it's the same thing here like I think this podcast has thrived a lot on just living on living and dying on the side of what's right and what's wrong what feels good what doesn't feel good yeah so the nose and I'll be honest with you in the past two years I finally said no to over 30 million dollars I've never had that I've never I've never seen I've never touched it but what restrictions does that come with yeah what guidelines does that come with what rules does that come with like no no no no that doesn't it doesn't sound right it doesn't feel right and if you're offering that then we'll wait we've been waiting mm-hmm we've been waiting what the [ __ ] is the holdup yeah yes sometimes nothing changing is that right like we've been living this way already right listen you're talking to somebody who has spent majority his life being comfortable with being uncomfortable mm real glad that things are changing now I'm forever grateful I'm forever in debt to the fans to y'all to everybody who has helped make this possible but yeah yeah yeah and thank you parks for giving us a home man especially video why's this became that was another really important piece because there was a stretch where before Parks was in play and our total total was studio was being reworked shout out to Pat and shout out the rat [ __ ] out to Ferrari yeah they were reworking they were remodeling their entire studio to make it more of a podcast space yeah cuz that's how often we were in there but before that like there was like a month or two where we was just hopping around Studio to studio and what I learned was oh everybody's audio is trash mm-hm which is funny because we were going to actual studio real Stu that sparked conversation in my mind why are people having there is a distinct difference in recording a podcast yep and recording music these were music engineers yeah I remember we was in true yes we were in uh that random studio in Whitestone and we went to three different rooms nightmare it was like midnight and at that time we was still catching steam so he's like alright we kind of pushed something out so we call parks cuz parks was fifteen minutes away came right into this space I don't even think we had video yet at that time I don't think so we had done a couple here I think this white stone thing was we've done a couple here over the years just wouldn't random random rage or whatever you know in between projects we used to get in Prince to do random sometimes yeah we studio laughed a lot man yeah yeah that's part of it though yeah well well thank you guys thank you thank you yeah man thank you guys Yvonne I'm glad to were yes they Von Erichs an old Chris Brown new Chris Brown when that new Chris Brown right you'll [ __ ] in the morning [ __ ] then he robbed my [ __ ] man [ __ ] yes stability happen in this living room yeah with parks and Ericsson and save on to and swag man it does feel are you girl a can see where they're coming from with that one I knew where I was going every Tuesday man I knew who would be there you know it's true it's true yeah anything else you guys want to divulge all the fans got a round of applause for the listeners viewers y'all I mean to engage the way y'all do weathers is this hateful [ __ ] weathers love or the support we appreciate it oh I just love the fact that people are engaging in really subscribing to something and just having conversation about it but to me that's dope and I'm gonna be honest I still cannot wrap my head around it no I can't my highlight of last year was was really meeting like some of our listeners it was like really cool to me it's awesome because you know what it tells me that I didn't know like you're stupid like y'all are funny man yeah so for y'all to just take whatever it is that you take from us so if you ought to enjoy us the same way we enjoy you pause you know it's special is special and no we're men and we don't know how to show Machinists and vulnerability for the most part yeah I don't want that to be overlooked at oh they were you spoke to that in your little Instagram was she pleased like everything could be the same if you're not there there's nobody there I said on on IG it's a bunch of idiots screaming with microphones in Wi-Fi that's all we are we're nothing if nobody's listening that's true that's a fact and like I always said it takes a special it takes a different kind of person to listen to this podcast and engage man like I think our audience is just different thinkers like definitely there's very diverse very diverse very come from different places all over the world I mean some people hit me from Africa I'm like yeah what they're people in Africa a lot of people from yeah yeah yeah the way I think that's like I like this it's eye-opening but it's dope at the same time makes you feel a little better like you're not crazy yeah right oh I am crazy well this whole [ __ ] is very therapeutic absolutely I have I have lived the latter part of my twenties going into my 30s on a microphone every week figures no you get it in on that microphone yeah all right Moll wants to know how long after someone dies do you have to wait to date their widowed journey for 40 minutes no for 40 minutes we did I that's true now who you want a date they got him I died I was saying like that's not you it's always a friend all right no I was just thinking I was like you know if a woman or a man they're married have a family if one you know significant significant other passes away how much time has to pass before they are allowed to date again before people start to judge them or like look at them like oh damn like like is there a specific time that needs to pass I don't do a specific time I don't think it's right to judge though because what if you need 70 years and if she's dating someone that was loved by like a lot of people yeah she not getting it off you know I thought she got a move into Facebook that's not right because it says till death do us part yeah yeah we party man yeah you left I'm still here games on yes so how long actually this situation that you're naming not on some a million little things [ __ ] on ABC NBC whatever network that is but most people in this instance when they take the necessary time to grieve end up dating someone that they're close to because that's who they reached out to while they was agree yeah sure yeah and then they probably feel like that that has to be kept a secret because I'm dating someone that's close to me close to me that I would know that was to mind the whale or that knew my yeah yeah I mean and then and that sounds like it gets tricky fortunately for me I've never been in that situation mmm I've never aunt and I empathize with the woman that have dated Hey no not David I have I have not literally passed away in my mind are you that ex but no my uh my cousin that passed her husband is now remarried and it was a little weird in the beginning for sure but how long how much time is she passing oh five he got married in 2014 some they dated for maybe four years I'm not good at math okay but it was like we weren't far I'm set at all but it was a low it was a weird at first yeah it was a shocker hello you say was she passing Oh father got married in 2014 make him do so bad yeah I think that's pretty cool yeah my sister's know we went to the wedding wow you phony hello would you give your significant other Joe just say five to do what $7 here if your significant other past how long before you would start dating someone else publicly under a 4-minute I go beyond the gram with grapes they will have flowers don't worry yeah I see them episode the power where ghosts had to go get that frustration not out to be like that chicks think I got the insane dick when I'm thinking some other [ __ ] that grieving dick probably better than the pill dick any dick till the very name and a good dick say that because you put that out there like what do y'all think is changing in 2022 I think I mentioned like yo you a [ __ ] man cool it down simmer down cool don't tell me tell me to simmer down um we are the only we're the only podcast that talks about partynextdoor there's much we love party I really love party man I hate when I love [ __ ] more than they love themselves so you feel you feel like we love party more he loves himself I also had a real in-depth conversation about exactly why I slash men might be jaded from the idea love something I'm all said really resonated with me a feeling like that I've never really loved it stuck with me a little bit too bad we going over that for I have and while you guys can laugh at me I delve deeper into that idea mind and no no okay but in delving deeper into that idea this is how I justify it because maybe more right I think that society standards of what love is symbolic of and what love means hmm and not even society but women I think it's so far off of my idea of love that I can never commit mmm okay that's a good shot you're full blown along I'm just saying like for me my idea of love is not so self-centered it's not about it's not solely about how I feel about things so when women get into that bag with me I take I draw a hard line mmm because that can't be love if you're just telling me how you feel about something Scott you okay how do we get there no he was saying it resonated what I mean he thought about it no he was saying he doesn't we love people more than they love them sometimes yeah that focal party my focal party I wanted to do well is necessary first to projects like his first maybe three projects on whatever those products with colors whatever the project was I love a party but like I want my mom or dad from him like I understand fans won that [ __ ] from the artists that they championed and maybe not getting it I especially understand it relating to Joe Budden fans like the many years I didn't give you all that [ __ ] I wasn't producing in a timely manner so for Part II I empathize with him because like actually Roy was with me in my living room when Drake called before there was a party next door and was just super excited about finding someone named partynextdoor hmm like he was he was going with me like yo I found fam I found a groom I'm so excited this is about to change the game that was a change in landscape it happened here to Chicago uh the Jordan Brand Jordan Brand Barclays because I was like what is his name he's a party and we thought it was a group they said groovy was like knows one guy I thought the same thing to his name I had questions about about his label how was being distributed but like I just remembered all of those talks so for it to be here and me to watch it so intently it's like that I want him to do well but the weekend won't let it happen I think you know what but I just think I don't think is that I think I don't say that to be funny busy he's busy writing like he's doing so much right now that's when I'm hanging it up on he's know so much right in that he doesn't have a lot of time for himself although that's fine but then you still have to tweet your week and I'll smack the [ __ ] out of you no but but you know what though I can roll up I actually want them to that shitty show sweet Ben and drop the album sweet I'll smack this fire Earth Wind and Fire out of you and here's the link I want something to drop the same day I want them to drop the same day party looks like he's about to miss February 2 I think I think he I want party me what is right too many days since January and that's why I didn't agree when he set a date when he gave us a you never put never you never do that cuz then once you don't honor that it leaves so much suspected make sure you see the weekend's artwork that he released yes he's out for blood yeah you know you ever you have a look at artwork and could tell something is fire I hope something better than fire okay but your face Anunnaki fire fair dmx lady you know whatever is coming back full of blood from it was fire whatever is happening now after this is fire party mmm yeah but i'm listening my party i can't we can't count him out you cannot count him out I'm not counting him out come on I'm not count about Kent I'm not counting him out even though he giving me enough reason to I want them to drop the same Friday after hours I kind of like kind of like you like the Kanye 50 thing I like it no you don't and especially now the way we get music it doesn't matter it does not matter if somebody else drops the same day you drop it laughs yes it does no it does it yes it does bro if you are wrong I know we've had this talk before but you are wrong here I'm not wrong it doesn't matter if party or the weekend drops and party drops on the same day it's like people are gonna tell Jordan tell Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez that's not a right I don't think that's a fair comparison with them because they're two pop stars going against each other I think party still because I'll go with melody we're going against rowdy who's not a pop star oh the distrain numbers he was doing were of that magnitude and they lost to rowdy yeah who them or their label would have never said they would have lost to they had no idea the brilliance of Lyor Cohen and that YouTube gang back their party because he's taken so much time off is still kind of going towards his core to that niche party fan it's a lot of them but it's still a niche crowd where the weekend there's partying weekend fans but there's also just weekend fans like they don't share the same cooking so so that's why if they drop at the same time a lot of the same fans say do we know that he's obviously a bigger artist the weekend but what I'm saying is why it to me it doesn't matter about dropping on the same day as other artists anymore it's because I'm in my living room on my phone and if I know the weekend drop and I go to whatever streaming platform and then I see party right there - I'm gonna get that album - yeah I grew just like that yeah it doesn't once I'm in my phone I'm in my phone so it's not like when you had to go to Virgin Megastore in Times Square Divya you knew you were only going I'm only going to get the puffy no way out by two tapes instead of the CD yeah like if even if I saw something else on the Shelf like DNS no but I ain't got the brief and I'm not gonna spend another dub on that like I'm going back home now it's like oh [ __ ] party drop - so now finish this in the weekend I go listen to parties album and you know how we do we take our favorite joints off the aisle make our own little set and that's it so it doesn't even matter about who has the bigger name the drop and stay away from my release date that [ __ ] doesn't matter in fact I feel like artists if the biggest artist is dropping I put me right there - on iTunes next to him somebody gonna bump in a Milan by accident and I'm gonna get some string I'm gonna get some accidental streams something I couldn't absolutely I couldn't disagree with y'all more when it comes to what if someone tik toks dojo huh like you're only saying Joe is boycotting tick tock because he's trying to infiltrate our culture I don't disagree so I'm not tick tocking I think that renegade dance is stupid I think it's teenagers trying to infiltrate our cultures are part of the culture I don't have a problem with China being in charge of the monetization of it okay um it's just vine with another name and owned by Brian vine has to smack the tik-tok do but tell me y'all like that renegade dance did they show the little girl doing all weekend I'm super happy but she's getting I'm super happy for her but uh yeah you won't catch me doing that when my jam comes on but it's okay what mention wall even up the renegade I want to know what more does when this Jam come going jay-z and Eminem so I usually get on some ass you know you still dumb they don't allow that anymore that's the charge yeah woman yeah look what y'all have [ __ ] up honestly you're [ __ ] up the [ __ ] cute dude approaching you in a club and put his dick on your ass and gyrating like that was the bag I know now that's like some Harvey Weinstein [ __ ] but that was to go too bad that was not some more byc [ __ ] that [ __ ] was okay well if you was ugly they turned around like that with an army that's how you you figured what divides was well that's how Rory and his crew got rich because they invited all the girls that I just let ugly [ __ ] put they dick on them yeah I like it so great mark it works give a [ __ ] nah they they they had a dance that's a clean way to put it they are there to dance absolutely oh where we going yeah but party should definitely drop you same day as we can we offer party nobody cares with us yes I don't think so I bet your party don't drop this move oh that's not a safe that's the safe bet yeah there's only one week left here's another [ __ ] he has two Friday's hypothetically there's another Granum one the 28th I got I'm on the 28th oh please [ __ ] out here no way I got one oh there's a leap year so yeah there's another Drake Drake feature on this album right I would think so that's why he chillin that's why I'm not really worried about what the weekend doing funny that we had and I think there's a Rihanna one we didn't hear no audio from Drake whatever he was rapping in front of Marcy no a louder snippet came out at another scene when he was under like the mob that's funny no way I don't think that's funny at all that the biggest artists in the world in front of projects in Brooklyn rapping the song and we don't hear it you know ball I'll be perfectly honest with you I would not be surprised if Drake does his videos different than every other art I wouldn't be silent if there was no music during I thought about that honestly piece about him is rap somewhere it's too much money involved if Drake has a single and wants to go to Marcy projects to shoot the video but doesn't want the song to be heard or release it is that level of artists we're not we not went young y'all can't hear this I remember when Jay got hoes got to Def Jam and one of them albums he was putting out I don't remember which one it was but they started leaking [ __ ] and drop started coming from all types of places like Fonda y'all [ __ ] got fired like in that plane which I said because this song is bringing me back eight and nine figures I don't have time for your phone games yeah I agree with you but a clip did drop at a different scene I think he was in front of Manhattan Bridge I don't think it's Brooklyn Bridge I forgot but look but it was much louder and you could hear the song pretty [ __ ] clearly like it's a good snippet of half a verse I'm ready one new drink up well I love that he's shooting a video to the type of record that it was because it wasn't a single chase record it was the type of drink we like my homeboy put up if he said oh he said yeah what if Drake was standing in front of mossy and that song he doing is a diss record DJ never I said my [ __ ] listen I don't know that whatever happened I said nah Drake you're home where's a wild imagination I liked it like I just like people that think like that I like it they was one toven drink already went back in for a bunch of time they did teach cello in every record they did together yeah and I think he addressed it in the rap radar [ __ ] of saying yeah we did our back and forth we're over we're friends now it's cool hey we was talking about whole sunshine record a few weeks ago why we don't never talk about his record with Drake oh we off that when he named all the things that he still wears now yesterday you know the hook huh you know Tim's we off there anything unique is - I'm Way off - now I'm here pairing with Drake we off that we off that I said with your dad that was the hook you remember the hook yeah yeah I'm sure enough cuz old might be listening we not all he has some time now that Jay elect is wrapped up all right um all thinks that all of us collectively need to send future a suicidal hotline number that's dark well future did man no no but he did you know I heard the line and his uh his record dedicated to his girlfriend and he's in love love me and we uh I'm rich like she called me daddy because I'm rich like Steve is somebody that there was along those lines yeah that might have been that there a few months ago I came in here and said Steve Harvey hates them too and I'm sure Steve Harvey wants to see fisticuffs with future no I think Steve Harvey's given Laurie all the game no way in the world okay no you ain't read a book for him okay was the smoking mirrors the book was the smoking mirror he gave her a real game behind the scenes that was just to sell you know and you know sell a movie with Kevin or John Legend song I don't that's why I can't wait for one of y'all just one of y'all to have kids all of my friends that don't have kids and not just y'all so my one friend student don't have kids when y'all have kids it's gonna be like fam I spent 20 years safeguarding against this and here it is yeah yeah but I mean she's gonna hundred million dollars see Marius put himself in a position where hey my kids don't have to do some of the [ __ ] that I had to do and now it's 70 67 years old I have all this I gotta look at my phone and see my stepdaughter running around with the [ __ ] toxic rapper [ __ ] on pills and I got to hear him say I got money like Stevie you got guns like Stevie are you ready to play like there but I do agree more I think the futures gonna have a hard fall oh man he is gonna have a hard fall mmm I can't believe that you guys don't think that those two are gonna work out yes it's not fair it's not fair yeah where we get in where we gauging this yeah yeah see I don't even let my mind look at the young girls that are fine like I don't look at Laura Garvey Laurie RV Jordan would that whole little 22-year old scale never I don't look at that clique I have never heard of speaks to I know I've never heard her voice tone who Laura any never she don't speak she directs you by pointing that's why you gotta buy that bag the other thing what I will salute future for is and as a man I've been in this spot where we just pull the same bag out for everybody how many times can future get this Rose is everywhere a trick off tell us stop nobody wants to talk about it till it stopped working Peter did the roses everywhere for Valentine's Day did the roses everywhere for your birthday and did the roses everywhere for my other baby mama Valentine's Day they sent some roses to my homegirl that I [ __ ] with like ma'am why is heroes man that's why it works it definitely works alright enough about this y'all tell me about the wildest [ __ ] y'all doin y'all [ __ ] would whistle dang rim will be home today on boy I never [ __ ] oh don't do that yes I was no you was now the first thing of all like it's fessed up to that was uncool it's true well no see and that's why that's the only reason it cuz this guy is kind of cool to be [ __ ] with at some point you're like you have to be absolutely you get that first like but when did you know you were busy with a be busy with a lot I think I knew I was [ __ ] when she would I was like on time every time we was going out early we can walk in front of a building like I wish you would be [ __ ] with to this podcast I'll be up your front of a building like 20 minutes I'm here for another minute a building workers early I get home before midnight I was only 20 minutes late hmm hey I know a bang I got into in a while because probably because this is solely locked for my pussy-whipped back the sucking toes back that's out of your repertoire and listen pazham she got nice toes and good for her and her pedicure fan we got to be doing some ghost mode and clay [ __ ] for me to get to my suck in the toes bag how did I get foot insects thing is a little weird to me in general feet insects does that a mix I mean that's part of the body no no no for me footsies leads to sex a yeah because we don't play footsies and then i'm gonna mount you now you don't like sex you stallion that's my line the mountains prepare yourself Jose gets mad proper when he starts talking about sex I will melt you from the 17th century by mounting mounting going to mount you shall be mounted mounted that dawn horsemen move enough oh you've been rubbing my chest for ninety minutes man I'm on top of you now yeah and watch what I do oh man oh baby oh baby oh baby you can't really stay on the wall that long and then when I'm done Oh baby I'm so corny we really bothered we not doing this cuz I've quarter but y'all be corny would be is why when you recognize that as corny is fine it negates it it's like it once you reckon but if you think is cool when it's Cornelio you corny annihilators cool you know that it's corny but you think that the corny is cool yeah yeah yeah once I mount you and I'm getting into the Joe bag of things and I want to change this cuz I'm tired now cuz I would I smoked and did a whole bunch of [ __ ] in my life like I let you know I'm out of breath tell me is only me alright so futures now gonna kill herself because hope him and Laurie are still traveling the world yes everything's good now a lot of roses um let's see what else is have you know what I meant to tell tell y'all Rory I Rory specifically because we didn't talk about we never talked about that Staten Island mob boss that got killed in front of his house yeah but a young guy that allegedly was dating his daughter because you was two positions nieces yeah but no super smart Rory being Staten Island I guess his nieces me out but in newspaper this was two to three weeks ago homeboys a homeboy his defense is insanity well that was his defense Amrit no but now he's standing up or two weeks ago he stood up in court to tell everyone in court that he had private and secret information about human trafficking sex trafficking and some other type of trafficking okay all right well he initially came when it first happened he put that load Trump secret society thing on his hand and there was this thing that that apparently some conspiracy [ __ ] that's probably on reddit I would assume I'm sure something was not like or YouTube to to much credibility behind it no offense guys but it was something about how Democrats are sex traffickers and Trump is here to save the world from the sex traffickers like it's this whole thing and he put that New World Order [ __ ] on his palm and show it everyone when he was in court to plead not guilty he's on this Trump [ __ ] and tried to tie it into him killing Cali was not killing who'll Cali what's his first name the gentleman they passed up an anomalous Cali was his life I don't know it's like I don't I don't remember his name up top okay well yeah that he's been on this already this isn't a new thing [Music] what else did I want to ask you gentlemen about yeah from all Frank Kelly mm-hmm summer Walker versus HIV patients excuse me summer Walker missed a flight mm-hmm okay or let me not do that I mean that lion or something happened with her I think it was she missed a flight this is not important enough for me to go do actual research on that but whatever she was angry at she went on her socials and said hey this is what just happened to me oh here we go whoever stole my laptop off the LA flight last night can suck a fat stinking uncircumcised HIV infested dick that's what she's not not from the homeless people in LA though right how long is this woman's career gonna last more I'm asking you because you go to her pop-up shops for secret shows burner listen first of all do you believe that there is something offensive in here I don't assume you two have HIV but no obvious would be offensive - he could be uncircumcised everyone would you think this is offensive this is offensive oh okay it's offensive I'm still trying to find the offensive pardon but okay because if I'm saying it's not because if I have HIV I feel away at this post what if I have HIV and I've been living for the last [ __ ] 20 years with HIV in it what are you talking about and then you say she's wishing hey I'm angry at somebody hey suck fat or uncircumcised HIV infested dick whoa vamp that's offensive the same way your la bomb comments were offensive the same way she said man offensive [ __ ] and I'm not harping on her because that's stupid justice episode we did so whoa music oh she loved her music but she's a [ __ ] module but see this is this Joe this goes back to [ __ ] just say she's a doof and outro I'll believe it having your phone in your hand is such a dangerous thing at times because you just go straight to social media like she could have said that and it probably wouldn't have been a big deal but when you post it it's like you taken the time to actually think what you want you could have thought that all day long nobody was [ __ ] that's dust dust that's what I'm saying it's like you people gotta just no just stop grab stop being so quick to grab your phone in react or just get some energy off like and she says I don't care if I'm cancelled quote-unquote I offend someone every day what the [ __ ] is new a lot of the insults that we grew up on and said to one another should not be publicized on the Internet especially if you're a public figure today yes because it was plenty of times I have heard on plenty of blocks something similar to this our own thought this has been said for quite some time mmm but we're getting to an age where you should not say these things especially publicly on the internet here we go I get it I'm not coming in here with my Puff Daddy revolt Cape back on what happened but did you guys hear what 50 cent had to say about the whole May situation yes that was actually a good interview it's it's and a great conversation piece yeah one that parks and I tried to touch on and we got called Republicans and and anti oh do they call us but I listen I had no I didn't know that did y'all know it maize had something to do with Fabio I know nothing about that had the slightest actually thought that was a typo in the description when they said fifty we'll talk about Puffs publishing controversies and mace taking Fabio's and I thought that was a typo cuz I own my thing to watch I'm watching it but I saw that description I said that must be a typo so I'm gonna play this clip but to harken back to what I was saying when I had my puff cape on but not in the puffy conversation you know not to cut you off but I've always had love and respectful 50 but after this watching this I I have more respect for him after watching his own wife is conversation certain things he touched on and he was just talking about and just the way his mind works he he still operates from a hustlers mentality you know it's just interesting to watch him operate from that mentality and do the things that he's done and still be able to he's still in touching into what's going on you know at the park over what the thing with v is so many people see 50 now on the internet kind of back to the summer thing and 50 don't give a [ __ ] so 50 is gonna give you the jokes and the pettiness on the internet and you're gonna start to get a different perception of 50 when he's been doing it since 2012 on the internet of all these antics you catch 50 in a serious moment and see who he actually really is as a person he's a really intelligent - oh really really and you realize that a lot of that should he be doing is really just jokes and he don't give a [ __ ] mmm he does this type of [ __ ] privately no 50 News therapy but y'all over 100% but y'all are correct 100% but what he focused on here which is where me and parks and I try every black giant American he's therapy um true what he focused on here which is we're parks and myself tried to shift the conversation but I understand I might have been too intimate with it for people to view it that way was most times in these publishing arguments the publishing deal is signed before they hit mmhmm absolutely the clip I'm play to it first that's what I'll do I thought like Puff had the Grammy speech and it may scam and said his whole thing about publishing and that kind of be game became a big debate just about like people kind of own and they publishing it only now being like a owner of a label like you you the boss of the label look at this it's specifically that write posters of Grammys piece may say about the poster this is just personal [ __ ] between the two of them and that and they those feelings are there because he dealt with each other for years in years years okay and [ __ ] is deeper than you guys to see on the surface and even deeper than what I know but I met and hung out with both parties but you look at it and you say when he's pointing out the publishing she's doing the same [ __ ] to the young boys now Fabio you know I'm sound like the stick is dead you did the same she did did they do to you what the [ __ ] crying about some [ __ ] did somebody did you then you're doing it to somebody else I [ __ ] out it man all right is that how a ghost like for the young [ __ ] is that how it goes like is that a rite of passage really like you know me is it good business for me to like get my publishing up right now and when they be saying there's a whole lot of games [ __ ] right gonna get going on [ __ ] you might not even get a record you go not take the money you should I'm saying so you know boy you could say I could mislead him by said now don't do this don't do that but the hard [ __ ] you eat right now right how you gonna eat that's what that's based on and then you can't cry over spilt milk later after the fact look at it go oh I should've never did yeah then that means the true kind of person to no matter what happens later you won't look at I said I should have did this different and I understand what he's saying but that's why that publishing thing has to change because granted elaborate on your understanding of what he's saying like okay so a new artist he takes a pub deal he doesn't have a album out yet mm-hm like like 50 said you might not even don't have a song yeah like I've [ __ ] no father hasn't record no not to my father oh I'm just saying an artist like that yeah we don't know if he had a record when he signed whatever right I don't know enough about father even if he did situation say you didn't have a record when you signed a publishing deal right yeah my thing is if we've gone all of these years and I've made the label all of this money and we've our relationship is what it is and we're cool whatever even if it's our it's like okay there needs to be an immense changes to it like that's just that's just me like it can't you can't hold me by something that's almost like if I commit a crime at 16 years old and you want to try me as an adult and give me all these years and it's like film you gonna hold me to what I did when I was 16 I'm a grown man now 28 years old 30 years old well what's the crime that's a different conversation no but I'm just saying you can't if I signed something out of us desperation I'm in the hood broke I don't and you think I got some talent and it's like yo you say oh here I'm gonna give you $50,000 right now it's gonna be hard for kid not to take that 50 grand that's not the angle I focus on by the way because you're right 99% of time is hard for a kid yeah like I'm taking this out in a situation that I'm no longer in I'm for I would never sign that deal now I'm focusing on the person that like fifth said don't really have confidence and their ability to create a record that's gonna move the way you needed to move on its own I'm focused on those the people that take the money because I don't know if I'll ever be offered this again and I don't know if I'll create something that'll take me to a higher plateau yeah but at once but but the thing is once we know it comes from the biggest artists and this like it's like there has to be some type of change in the on track outside then you Shore ten years ago then you shortchanging me for the risk I took I took a risk on you more way I earned your label seventy million dollars fam come on what should be done I need to get some of that Rory I think I think to Joe's point and 250s point were in that time where it's so easy to make music and there's so many rappers that are chasing bags just because they're creating music they're not real artists so yeah it's gonna take some of me being the music person to get your music out there so yes I do deserve some of your publishing when it comes to that because you're just someone that has an image that white kids like at the moment actually you want to talk about now you just have an image when mace was popping you needed the label yeah yeah that was a different time yeah today you don't need a label you don't need an image some some artists need a label now they do you're right I'm all independents I first there's artists that need labor I know there's some artists that just want the label I don't think any artist true artist needs but there's a lot of us that you can't convince them that because of how they view labels and attic grew up and I just had this conversation with somebody an artist and it was like now we want to make it go as far as it can go but like some people like maybe for like a QC yeah people want that label stamp not for a double entendre there you see isn't that a label by the way when I say label nothing like you see they have distribution whatever their position similar to Kevin Durant's Nick's debate of they're not cool anymore so that's why I disagree these young kids aren't looking at a def jam or an inner scope and going that's cool up you know my whole life up and trying to signed to Def Jam they have it that was my generation in your generation that's gone now so I would say gone but it's diminished its diminished that's still labels are not cool anymore but they are a necessity into some artists no absolutely we've been on this podcast preaching the independent thing as much as possible but I still think there are some artists that need a label you're not a real artist you're catching a fad Condit's of what 50 was saying to some degree with the gang gang thing like we've seen artists pretend to be gang members because it's it's cool to be that now to the masses right not in the actual artist takes okay you need a label to put that out because you're not a real artist that's not even your real life and we've seen real artists take back seats to gang members yes I was adding that to you no no well we've been seeing that eighties but yeah give me the care is one dog ma'am time for somebody tell Truman boogie do I I think they've told us on agreed Oh dick I haven't seen it I've been watching all the docs I would love have you seen it yeah tell me about the real Shannon care oh but no I I do think there's some publishing that is deserved because a lot of these kids are not real artists and to your point and I guess what we're saying there too you're not you're not an artist you you need me to put something out so I yeah I need to take some of that I'm risking on someone that's not an artist no I'm not saying you can't they they not sedation get some of your publishing but I mean it's like some of these dudes are getting from what they've earned for the label compared to what they're getting back is insane like they not yes I mean in the best world 50% that's not fair though to because there's so many different ways that money gets broken down like yeah you might only get one million and the label got 15 million but the label had to pay a billion people you did not you understand it but I'm everybody they didn't just keep the 15 like oh good but everybody everybody whole market everybody's eating out everybody's eating off of my talent though shouldn't they no I'm not saying they shouldn't be eating more than I'm heating off my talent they're not individually not not individually but there are some individuals that have made more money off of artists than the artists have made I'm sure there's cases where that happens but I think that's why I'm saying that has to change oh also what it's hard because it's it's art like publishing arguments that come down because you're arguing a percentage of what I contributed to some degree and it becomes difficult because it's so blurred they're like I wrote this I wrote that melody ok the label no matter what is getting this piece of the pie it's such a blurred line not black and white thing for money that is produced in like marketing or advertising where everything is black and white like we put out this much product and we got this much money back it's it's such a weird concept that you're putting out art and it gets broken down in percentages of how you contribute it to it it's just such a weird conversation to have when you think about it I just feel like really odd thing to debate I just feel like if they change the way we bar music and they change the way they count music as sales and all of that then they need to change a lot of the business behind music as well I'll try Paige you can't change the way you sell my music and the way people receive my music but not change the way I do agree I eat off of my music I do agree with that too a ploy but I do not still feel like everyone deserves a hundred percent of the profits it doesn't [ __ ] or no no I never said never watch I never said that but it's often ever said I've been pitched that way by the angry artist is you know I only got paid a million in the album gross 70 million but yeah a million people's paws needed to get greased people with families and careers that were doing Act came up with the idea to make the shiny sue came up with the idea no I'm not saying those puffs I don't know who the [ __ ] that will ever was I didn't say it's it's even more when it comes to the label side because when you're sitting in a studio parks you'll see a producer a writer and an artist try to break up okay you did 30% of this you did and try to break down the publishing [ __ ] whatever right when it comes to the label trying to figure out if the labels marketing sold more records for you than your actual song is such hard I don't even know how you like I'm stupid so I don't even know how you do it yeah that's a bit like we don't have to get into the idea of someone's mace may have funded other projects to come out good or bad say what you want about that like the ability to make the fact that may sold 10 million albums may be allowed for Tdap and black Rob to happen mm-hmm it probably did so do we take money out of black where I was talking now defeat mace that's what Joe argues in podcast land whatever the next podcast is that you get automatically bumped to after this one I want to be paid from them getting someone that getting someone to acknowledge that that's what should happen it's a whole different fight what I mean by that um rhythms in where they put you when they when you use one popular show to promote or lead to maybe an unpopular one okay that's what you say though I think we're having a different conversation than mol is having no scope with me trying to think all is well all is always having a merit conversation which is why I don't really get to in depth with it wit mall because we all kind of have similar merits of course um we be having a business and business personal yeah that's all yeah well most speaking of the art is getting [ __ ] that's my thing oh it's a merit no it's a merit thing yeah that's a merit thing a lot of a deal and Mallis and yo hey fam I've been outperformed whatever we arranged your merit should say hey kick some back or do the right thing then you do business together not only that because a lot of these a lot of these business plans and business models are from way back in the day one artist we know we're getting [ __ ] what can I show can I ask y'all virtually have no way of knowing y'all change some of that [ __ ] yeah and that but that was my heart it's learned business practice that was been that was how I ended up in an argument with Rory whether we agreed at pubs in the music business or not maybe Rory is right and pop is in the music business but my point there was the those old practices I can't say as someone that works closely with puff that he practices those today because he's not actively trying to sign artists music artists today - those deals right if this is true what he is saying about mace and mace is carrying on those business practices what do ya'll say to that because my thing today is hey we all preach an ownership we all kind of got enough is enough out out outlets out there to kind of tell us what we should be doing and what we shouldn't be doing what was [ __ ] up back in the day if mace is doing that and I don't know what to be true allegedly mmm what would y'all say to that if he's and what would y'all say to Fabio well I mean again Fabio he has a probably one of the biggest records out right now um fairly new we didn't know much about him before this record blew so he may have taken the deal that now if he goes on to have a career like a mace dead or 50 dead I'm sure he's gonna be sitting in front of his phone posted on his Instagram a video echoing the same sentiments of y'all need some of that kick back I bet he'll do something different like what can't say on the pocket okay I'm just saying like we don't know yet because his career is still so no new yeah we don't know like if he disappears and never puts out another record and I'm sure he made more than he expected to me and you know what off on a sidebar tangent right Saturday night at the Barclays there was a concert where mace performed where maxwell performed they do it every bounce where jagged-edged performed mm-hmm we're invoke performed I missed it I think he might have been it everybody that I loved performed hmm they are beaten outside I do want to go to a Janet Jackson concert don't know if I said in those pockets but I do want to go um they promoted that as the ladies night Valentine's Day concert and I have issue why the [ __ ] is that ladies night I love all of them I would have wait I don't have a lady debatable debatable debatable but wait hold on how you mate how you make a point and debate your own point it's debatable whether have a lady in that right okay I would have went to that Barclays show even though I don't go to show then it make me feel like they weren't inclusive like why is this ladies night I love all of them and that's it that's all I got is back to my conspiracy hated in me talking about is for single women Bing Bing Bing it's my conspiracy theory I've always been saying that that should have been going on it's it's catered to single women that have nothing to do on Valentine's Day so let's go see max well I want to see max what so I want to see max well dude I would like to see max well that was a really good lineup no that was crazy happening lovers the lovers and friends can you pull that up scream man yeah dad dad lon I've never heard of the lovers and friends festival but this - that's a crazy fun dad lineup I don't know what this is even we they probably are I'm sure we are dammit let me tell you something I don't see brown is on the bill [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] [Applause] yeah no Slim has been on his Instagram just going off about the separation of 112 and the difference is that two of them have with another tool mmm and maybe used to me because they did just put album out like two years ago yeah maybe genuine can fix their differences and he wouldn't want to say that he he does own the name once one's gone he owns the name okay he owns a trademark name something but they was in his ass about that Paul mmm okay right I wanted another ones while about me yeah we Rory Rory Rory Rory Rory Rory he can't wait for that to come on that's what that don't want when they come on in New York [ __ ] just start getting freaky oh you guys see me one juvenile slow motion come on that's everybody though I'll start gyrating by myself that's Rory with the stupid [ __ ] song no [Laughter] Jovi Ellison Bush when I'm doing a [ __ ] intro I never got that yeah you got you back you got you right I'm a stuff thing about you when are y'all gonna sing some [ __ ] we should all write a song we doing the rap [ __ ] that was why cuz I've said five months ago we got a call coming in write a song oh no you said a verse you said no Evers worth but it wasn't sexy no you said no right I'm wouldn't put that pressure on you oh yeah no pressure first of all come on it's a fight that eight was like I'm just getting into it just gotta know I'm just getting it I'm setting you up for the other heat my first eight is to set up for the next thing I think you're struggling for content in the second half it at 16 no way I think for eight you given your clothes off Harlem [ __ ] big got enough content for a why is he but [ __ ] with his brother no worries all right think we've covered everything that I'm about to cover is there anything that we're missing I heard a joven NOS snippet kill me on the internet and be really rude to me in my mentions if this is old but it was the first one that I had heard I hadn't heard this before I had never heard this before either but I don't click them because I'd be scared this can just be so old yeah but y'all don't be hip to what's going on in the terrain not sure you I don't be but this is a apparently it just blaze nas and home record but it sounds old whoops I'll they mix it to uh soap [Music] only aired in one years that just mean it would like that for me to plan this is a ire this beat before it it sweet fun outside this beat yeah I think so I think in the Glass House sessions hey it sounds familiar I think we have just has a sound so I don't want to know we rappin it be I'm positive of it I'm pretty sure you guys also wrapped on it the Ross and Swiss joint that a lot of stuff came from that slaughterhouse sessions where I'd be like wait I've heard this before and then go my laptop and I'm like oh there's a whole slaughterhouse song that exists on this beat as maybe sounds hard oh it does like the song [ __ ] I would love to hear that one as a legend yeah that could be one so y'all don't want to redo the industry rankings with parts playing his own album I think that's fine no because you play your own album I've not played which is why I would have to be third or fourth Fame you were just wrestling with Big Sean I was in wrestling he did give you nuggies I was posing for a picture that was not a pose for a picture that wasn't that wasn't my pose for the picture he took it too far [Laughter] too far Big Sean you're number one I'm seeing that that lovers and friends festivals faith really you are lying no way Kim lo Kim came out and said you don't know the [ __ ] that is and Meg is also booked the same time for broccoli fest but I was like I would timezones if you five private you might be able to get that done but now I'm hearing the shoot is fake this is just a fiery festival may said it was fake but an Twista said it was fake all cuz of what Joe said I'm a little tight about that now me too they should have done it some sounded up with that like if your first time festival I don't think you've booked an acts in your first time out you know the bigger brands come to I could see like Verizon dumped [ __ ] 50 mil into a new festival and try to make it look like it's not Verizon and then when you get there it's only Verizon yeah plastered everywhere don't worry you guys I'm working on Live Nation or some corporation give me a whole lot of money to do my own festival man y'all sit tight it's coming I will book next in 112 and Mario and cam and Montell Jordan what about SWV I'm maybe Twista maybe only appropriate lineup that's all Lister do have join us how to go off the arm B lineup just know you're just not 15 minutes worth and I say this listen a lot of times I say [ __ ] from my own experience and it sounds funny it sounds funny to y'all because how could that be the experience but if you've never performed on a stage and you don't have records to perform on a stage you don't know that your 3-minute record is 50 seconds on stage hell yeah and you should have a few of those especially a 15 a feature now we're looking at 20 seconds I wanted to come in here and kill a shot see a few weeks ago but I didn't because don't shouldn't talk down on one and first of all relax fam y'all keep saying that when it comes to the chanson yes you're right Ashanti performed at Super Bowl at pre festivities like before the game she performed the JLo record uh I'm real so with a picture that's fine she wrote it you could perform an end long yes singing I'll never have a beef with you performing a record that you wrote or a record that you perform backgrounds on and let people know what time it is you performed you performed it our background honor no no no I'm saying it's it's in the front it's not this background but she performed this record in front of a picture of her being hugged up with Jennifer Lopez and that's where clamp that's where it's a clown [ __ ] but I'm not gonna say that cuz as a man we can't say that about women and the next day she did an interview the next day she did an interview and I was coming here that interview for y'all where she was flabbergasted that the interviewer wanted to know if there was a beef between her and Jennifer Lopez you can dance then you can say it's better you can say I'm confused why you think that's weird that they were hugging they work together no I think in history no no no no I'm sure they have history and I'm sure she's angry at some of that history which is why she's performing this record in front of a picture of her and Jennifer Lopez this her and Jennifer Lopez hugged up before Jennifer Lopez has to go perform the next day and you know she's doing that record come on bro don't do that but this goes back to our initial conversation of saying who's launching whose career she was a a background singer in a writer whose mom or grandma owned a dance studio where Irv and them used to hang out like she was just some chick and he was like yo you want to write this and she said yeah and then it turned out to be one of the biggest records ever at the time so yeah what it's the same conversation back to the publishing we were talking about no it's not because you're not directly responding to what I'm saying I get that and I agree there's nothing to argue with what you're saying the act of performing said record in front of a big-ass screen of you hugged up with the artists whose song it is who's performing the next day what does that give off that's what I'm asking clown [ __ ] no I don't see how it's clown [ __ ] y'all collaborated on a record together that's a hit that's not clown I do I do with Josie it's kind of like a clown now why you know wouldn't be on the main stage tomorrow without performing ever or perform your record why do we have to we have to look at the pictures are not connected on who's on the main stage there and who's not because JLo is a pop icon I don't see how those two things are connected look JLo could have put this on set she did that record I don't know no she performed it but that's fine why would you bring a shot see out on that record because two word nerd so we know that she would not bring a sir of course she wouldn't it's not an Ashanti record Rory I'm only asking you about Ashanti performing the record in front of a big jumbo picture of her and Jennifer Lopez nothing else I don't think I sold her out and then and I don't think Ashanti shouldn't before on the record I'm talking about how she performed framed the performance of the record it's valid valid valid you didn't need that picture at all JLo has nothing to do with this she's performed him all night she's the featured act and if you're gonna do that then cool do what you want but you have to anticipate somebody saying hey what was that about but not for nothing - even though it's a day difference as the opener or opening act or opening show whatever you're not really supposed to perform what's going to be the centerpiece of even if it's a day that produces the show if I'm thinking about what's gonna be the best part of my set and I'm Ashanti and I can bring out JLo alright y'all is stupid for letting me bring a headliner out right now but I'll do it to make my studio she did bring her out even bring her out she put up a picture tell my just a picture oh I thought y'all was saying she but I didn't see a Shante performance the prelim I didn't see dancing in front of a picture that's what my whole log me is based around oh wait she just put up a picture it was open up for people do not use a you've said people [ __ ] in your opening act ever for any reason it might be something in the contract it's something they I mean I can't wait till we get a Murder Inc doc mmm that's a fact the Murder Inc docket will be better than a lot of dogs because what if it's done right big facts yeah you know 100 percent um with that whole feds running in the building supreme being involved her vishanti job is it's there's a lot there's a lot there I wonder what I wonder why Irv hasn't actively begun trying to shoot that himself it's actually I know her has been vocal about new doing the Supreme Team doc so I don't know if maybe he's focused on that first and then doing the Murder Inc one when is the the murder anniversary 50 and jaw and the history there like it's a lot in the Murder Inc dog it's and it's just so much with Rough Riders in Rockefeller and Def Jam at that time you can include all the like the part that makes it great no and just Irv in general and where he was with all of that like Irv is the centerpiece that you could add in every hole DMX thing that you wantedly or kev you could bring in literally so much just into a Murder Inc dock that maybe Rockefeller and Rough Riders couldn't and Irv is great and entertaining in himself oh my so [ __ ] man you know what if this didn't and if this for some reason we're unable to be a real life doc I wouldn't mind seeing a Murder Inc story done like wu-tang did their story on Hulu oh yeah this I did see this the series Murder Inc this series Irv Gotti y'all ready all right so he's just working on her be smart yeah irva smart man one diverse still doing them [ __ ] hidden poker games in the city we made all that [ __
