I remember talking to you about it I and you both were leaning against like one of those something yeah and you guys were really nice to me right I would have been excited if you got the part I think we all would have been it's not over yet the show's done oh over you're not gonna get it so um but see Damon Waynes Jr who got the show he had an he went right you know how sometimes you go right into testing yes right so he wasn't no one knew he was I didn't know he was going to be there right as soon as he walked in I went I because it's Fox yes fox has a [ __ ] not that he's great but fox has a relationship with In Living Color and his dad there's all this Nostalgia and like you know um nepotism you know and I as soon as he walked in I almost said out loud should I leave should I leave like that no if you said that that would have been and you would have gotten the par Liz beweather would G that's our [ __ ] guy that's a guy that's a guy I didn't get it and it was uh who' you test against Dam WIS Jr just the two of you there's always a third there was a third I don't remember the third the third didn't have a chance some guys doing a podcast somewhere going like it was mine then I see [ __ ] Bobby Lee sh yeah yeah but it's like because you both know you you guys both tested probably a bunch of times have you gotten everything you've tested for no no all right what's that feeling like the next day oh gut it or the day well what's awful about testing for a pilot and the meanest thing that they do is they put the contract in front of you negotiate and you see the money and so it's your name the money you will get if you do it and you sign and if they say yes that money is yours and if you don't get it you get nothing you get nothing why do they dangle that carrot you think probably oldw World meanness when the studio like the studios just do a lot of old world mean stuff you're like well they want to hit the ground running too right they don't want to like spend time before shoo but they also you the way I think part of it is they they also like that in the walls you can hear other people auditioning yeah it's I think it's just as psychologically [ __ ] it works the truth is this the truth of it is you they don't want you to get the part and then negotiate yeah so you don't have an upper hand so you don't have an upper hand right so that's why they do it but the other way which could be good is let's say we had let's say I was casting it we didn't do that you got Bobby you got Damon and you got some third guy yeah you can go I like y'all for it what would you be willing to do it for and Bobby would have gone like this less and then Damon would go I mean I'll do it for that and you could negotiate the other way and go let's do the pilot as a guest star would you do it but if it works God there is another mean way to do it it'll go there you do it like the movie Dark Knight when remember they drag in Joker's body and the they thought he didn't know what to do you know what I mean it's like just give him everything I mean like I'll change my race yeah but my point is I couldn't and then he goes let me talk to you and he pulls me outside and he goes you're not him I go I know I get it no he goes you don't get it no you're just as talented in fact to me you're funnier like you're so funny right but you don't have what I have know what was it's not out yet but um what anyway and I went to rehab when I was in rehab they go they're in production they're starting now and I lost it oh so I don't think in Destiny it's I'm never yeah but I will say that um if you had gotten a new girl and then you simultaneously started a podcast it wouldn't have the podcast you wanted to put out cuz you would have really censored yourself because youwork you also would have had to yeah you could not have that's that's right you could not have done these podcasts it is simply a it would not have happened yeah we also I mean that world which it's now different I bet people on those shows it's a whole new Galaxy but we had people who you know I didn't want to get on social media do there was no choices really it was you're going to get on social media you're going to Tweet with castmates during the show it was this is now the business and you're going to help push the business wow and you just went like great okay and when they wanted you to go somewhere for press it was years of doing it before I would say like can I say no to this but for the first five years I wouldn't even think to say no you're like if you started a podcast and you said one thing that was off you would have a sit down and they'd be like are you out of your [ __ ] I would have been cooked it just it would not you would not have this it have been opposite the worst is this when you do those media runs the worst is when they do all right so you have a block between 5 in the morning and noon you're and you're doing like a thousand radios and you're just sitting there on the phone and then like you just after two hours you want to [ __ ] kill yourself yeah it's have you done those yeah yeah then why'd you make that face cuz I I'm entertained by you I love you that's weird what do you mean what I was just listening what was my face can I be honest with you let me just straight up next time I see you no don't do this it's the it's super expensive it's super expensive to me what's a number like a it was like 300 bucks but it's like and but what do you do so you then make it so it's just got a light I'd imagine the lights what the [ __ ] man never mind look at his skin look at skin well lightsabers but Jake lightsabers aren't real so it's like no it's an actual plastic stick that comes out then what do you do with a bunch of you turn it on it's like a flashlight go that'll be $4,000 but the actual experience so let's say there's 10 people and you all get the money you spend the money you do it then it's done you just go like this then yeah so whenever you swing you turn it on it's very heavy too it's like not something you would get at a gift store right it's very heavy it would if it would feel like a real go ahead so we've ' been broken up for over 2 years but we have seven animals between us the cats live with him the dogs live with me I I've met some of the girls that he's dated been pretty chill about that but my jealousy Peaks when he describes that one of my cats or that like animals are mingling with the new woman in you tell her that oh wow do you do you say that to get a little nasty no you're just actually Rel pointing out I truth truth truth I know so like I want to know and it's not a problem it's more like it's a me problem like how do I get over that jealousy of being like Bobby gonna kill you as a okay Bobby take the lights is there hold on is there a guy who plays with your dogs so there's a guy okay I found out from name him I I don't even know his name okay he disciplined my dog Julio o is this right and when I heard that I went ape [ __ ] did the dog do to get disciplined um no he's a dick biter he a psychopath he doesn't like anyone new he does no he no oh the dog's a dick biter yeah I swear to God for a minute I was like everyone's handling that occupation so wait the dog n so I have a behaviorally um [ __ ] up dog named Julio I don't think he is I think he's perfect wow who doesn't like anyone I think he loves who he loves yeah you and me and that's it Bingo like these guys can't even be around what kind of dog is it he's maybe like a 20 lb yeah wait but so Julio went to bite him and in the dick oh tried to right in the dick and um what he did was instead there was no other thing to do but to kind of pin him in that moment and then remove himself h cuz I know MMA yeah but all that he was conducting an investigation to be fair but that all that popped up on my YouTube and I knew you so I started kind of watching that and that was fascinating yes that was that was that was the beginning where he was trying to get me to do podcast I wasn't into him and I was like this shit's interesting I was like on the show I was like can he do something with me where he gets mad at me and talks about like you wanted to suck his dick by his truck cuz all this [ __ ] I was like whatever this is this is good TV and I'm watching this [ __ ] on my TV so I know about your guys' story but that's why it's so fun hearing about the thing I'm like I'm watching the show but in terms of the dog yeah so you Bobby you cannot tell her her when another woman is cuddling with these cats man you have to keep that quiet why because it's killing her okay cuz they're my they're my children right and she can't have all of them and maybe she also wants you too so now she doesn't get the pets she doesn't get you now some new [ __ ] is in there and she's got you and the cats oh this is too much to take too much to take and all Julio's doing I think you're getting to Bobby I could tell by hisone keeping in I'm learning so much I guess I will stop this behavior that bothers her what else Jake so I would say you got to just stop telling her okay all right don't know about you know I'm a comedian I have a different lifestyle yeah right so it's like you know I don't wake up at 6:00 in the morning and go hiking right it's just not in my nature y okay so you know she you know I could tell that she wanted to do daytime activities I knew Kila and this guy is there right and I know they know the they know the island well so I called Kila and go hey this can you pick this person up in the morning is this your guys' Dynamic with x's is this normal stuff done this before Oh so this was the this was you trying something new apparently this was a lack of boundaries on my part but um go ahead Bobby it's a lack of boundaries your therapist said that uh I think uh it it it it made me happy to do it because I saw how happy she was to see the island cuz I don't think you were going to do that for no wait you called Kila to see if she could take the woman that you'd brought there out for a little bit right she knew this is your ex yeah right but then I don't have a car there so I'm like jeez like poor girl she hasn't even seen the beach and they're in Hawaii and all he's taken her to is like nice restaurants the best Korean on the island [ __ ] yeah dude and I could hear her in the background being like I want to see stuff and I'm like oh okay so then I asked um my boyfriend I was like hey this is a really weird request but like um can we take this girl out like around the island for the day and he was like he's like yes let me just [ __ ] murder this [ __ ] ear up piece of [ __ ] you stop fting dick and I I mean I feel bad now but I lied and I was like yeah n Bobby sick um which you were but you kind of weren't that sick I was sick okay yeah I had the vid and um and he was like yeah okay like sure sure so they pick her up and she has the day of her life oh weird why would they tell the story but when did she so when she got back then what happened what do you mean well she comes back to your place she's like I had the of my life she show me photos right she in the water right we took her everywhere you guys had an amazing day yeah she had never really been out in you taught her everything she's like Bobby's a good teacher you're the same now this is a [ __ ] teacher I just said there wasn't a beach in Hawaii the hell there's a lot of them and by the way like I really like her like she was a gen she was such a great girl and it was so fun did you guys all get din that night no we dropped her off and we never again no but I mean I did while the one time I met her boyfriend is the only circum so this is the only circumstance how long ago is this month two months ago wait before we get into that yeah now I want to know your advice like should I be setting up stronger boundaries for myself so quickly about our show uh the type of advice we do is like I I ate deodorant and I barf and we go like that's a great question okay you guys go deep you going you don't go deep no we do the dumbest take yeah so have a do we think there need to be harder boundaries in I think in a norm well in a normal breakup this isn't normal in a normal breakup you would go your own separate way for a while at least you guys continue to do a podcast because it's it's awesome to watch is this a great podcast well no it is very compelling so um but normally you I my my opinion would be you probably stop updating each other on your personal in terms of having a shared thing together which is this my real advice is no you when he's in Hawaii with a new single mom take her [ __ ] and yeah when a new guy comes if it's not this guy he beats the [ __ ] out of Bobby's dog tell him Bobby look at Cameron and threaten him we're looking for views here kids remember old new girl business [ __ ] money guys so this episode is out of the house and as I was walking up the driveway or whatever I looked back and there's a GI window into his living room and he was just sitting there just not even looking at the TV kind of slouched over right and I went a you know he's like the window's open dude I know exactly what you mean I can hear you yeah yeah and it was um and I thought to myself I don't know if I want that yeah you know I don't know you also want to like you know it's like anything it's like if it's a gamble you want to prolong the good part as long as possible but then also walk away when you're up and you kind of are like that is like it's very easy with standup to be like you can keep that party going but like you're G how old are you 44 right so you're getting up there well not with the moisturizer yeah I'm I mean and um I know you're seeing somebody right now but um you're kind of in this position that I'm in in a weird way right do you see yourself cuz I know Jake you you're married and have kids right but do you see yourself with kids and and finding that one I don't know about kids I the kids thing I don't does not appealed to me the idea of not being single and finding someone you love is appealing but it wasn't 5 years ago right you know 10 years ago it wasn't what was it 10 years ago just to be single forever to be to to be that guy but then you do see the other side of that you go oh yeah like when you're on the road and you're in these [ __ ] hotel rooms alone and you are really just like this is kind of weird it does get kind of [ __ ] weird and the older you get the weirder it gets and the more that when you feel support even if it's not from someone directly beside you it's really helpful to kind of keep yourself in an emotionally stable position yeah it's just back to what you and I want to ask both of you this okay um this is going to sound strange what I'm going to ask have you heard the last hour and a half I know we're in a good Zone anywhere doesn't sound strange it's so one sometimes when I'm at a comic Club I don't walk around and think about what I do for a living or who I supposedly am or whatever that means you know I feel pretty normal right but then sometimes like you know when I'm at a club especially because or a show that me and Andrew are doing and all our fans are like in one area right and you know it's what I'm going to ask you is this is that I don't feel like who people think that I should be like a star or you know what I mean yeah well you're a very you are a very normal do you what do you feel do Jake do you know that you're an actor and that you you're mean people know who you are and you have all these things or are you just Jake and just walking around in life I think they're two separate things so I I at home absolutely I I I'm not a big star in my house okay uh I've been with my wife since before I started acting wow it's a different thing I was with her when she was a bartender at cat in the fiddle and I worked at the Hollywood Park Casino as a third party player we've been together for you know so in our reality she was with me when I was doing commercials and grinding up right I had a big turn when new girl started where I was in we went back to Chicago for that first Thanksgiving after it started Aon we went to some Museum she's an artist I don't even remember the name because I was just so bored yeah and there was three teenage girls walking around and everywhere I would go they would go and I didn't realize yet that they had recognized me I might have been a little stoned but I just got really paranoid right and it was the beginning me realizing like oh my old world is gone if I go into a restaurant I'm not George Clooney the place isn't going to shut down but most people I'm are familiar with me so I'll get a lot of like the the waitress will just be a little bit warmer so I'm very aware that I can never go back I think that's that thing I think that's what I'm talking about that thing is now you cannot put it back in the box like it or not like it there are days when you're not in the mood you just want to go get someplace you're still the same person and that is a deal you made so that's the deal with the devil in my opinion but home is not that okay how about you well mine is different because mine is like if I'm at the club I feel that heightened version of it that's what I'm saying that's where you feel it the most yeah but but I no and you do you get like people will give you like their best you know you get like a lot of meaningful conversations happen in a Consolidated amount of time but no I think for the most part like that that connection to people through what you do is so vastly different from basically what Jake is saying like when you're home or the people who are in your direct World none of that really changes you know so to me yeah yeah go ahead well because I recently I went on a date with one girl and she kept saying well you're bobbly Lee so you don't you don't know what it's like you know I mean what I'm going through I'm like [ __ ] what are you talking about well and you've strug like you like you're saying you've grinded like I people forget how much you've grinded get where but it is different and I I will say this and I remember when I first moved out at one of my first buddies who was working was Mike Sarah oh and thank you but not a fan you're not a fan of the best aming so weirdest guy to not be a I just want to say I remembered uh when it was super bad era the way people treated him was very different than the way people treated me and I know I was like oh everywhere you go the light's a little brighter and I do realize now I am living in a little bit of that Galaxy right if I go to a place the waitress or just everyone's it's a little nicer but here's but here's why because I was on Mad TV for eight years a little bit of light light right right but then it dims yeah right it almost goes out right and I live through that as well so now that it's bright again I'm not in that light I cuz I know that that thing will just [ __ ] when you lose you realize it's not everything yeah it's not everything one of the cutest memories I have was when we went out on a first date and he insisted on um we went to one coffee shop and I don't think anyone recognized him there so he was like well let's try another coffee shop no wait wait wait wait stop stop stop you think I moved pot T oh you did absolutely let's not put this out there this is [ __ ] crazy we'll cut this there's another coffee being four miles away not even I why would I say oh I'm not getting recognized at this coffee bean Bobby honestly like it's I I think of it like in a very endearing warm well let's give it a try right now maybe it'll stay in but it might get cut off yeah yeah yeah yeah and then you kind of like you gave it away too cuz um we finally go into he spots a skate shop and he was like I think do that that works in there that knows Mad TV and so we go into skate shop and some kid comes over sure enough and he was like hey dude are you Bobby Lee leave me alone I don't I'm a regular person I'm a SK I I'm just a regular man so going back in terms of the advice you got you got to keep her away from your new lady and I said I don't have a dog in this fight I I think I think you got got to keep separ she's going to she's going to kill you m yeah she's going to kill she's a destroyer yeah and so he takes a picture and then what you said was really cute afterwards which you were like oh my God than like thank God I only get validated from this I'll never fall in love and I'll Never Love A Woman something like that I'm par that thats the dark pit for another 10 minutes it's not ending it's you outed yourself right after you were like I don't care I don't care is it sabotage is it possible that wasn't ending like a shitthead you probably changed since then Bobby leave no [ __ ] you g on [ __ ] you cut that out or we're done I will shut this [ __ ] Bobby leave it no no we're not leaving it Bobby leave yeah give me a real endear that Wasing godam another thing he did okay go so signed an autograph to himself is that enduring yeah yeah he wanted to kind of come off as this very eccentric artist oh my God bad St a bad go ahead so what he would do is we would be driving and he would like he would like pretend like he had ticks and would like talk to himself and he and I know I now I know like this wasn't normal for him at all cuz he doesn't as soon as you know like over the years I was like I've never seen those ticks or weird and then he just wanted to I think he like romanticize the idea of being this like just really weird artist he wanted you to fall in love with him yeah which it I fell for I was like oh this guyy is so I promise you it worked it worked ticks work all the time now what is something that what was really endearing about her when you first started um she gave two endearing things what' you say I I'll tell I'll tell no I want to tell you the most endearing thing that first coffee shop okay cuz I had been on dates before but I would hope so maybe it was his first one he didn't know I would say they've been together about 10 years he said 52 I mean I'm I'm no Einstein but I can do some m in fact the Jake that came into this room it's changed really you're more confident and you're more like I'm invested like we're call that's what it is now I really like you know go back go back to the old okay it's new version this is Mo from I'm going to be calling into your show every week relationship problems but so you started da so so with the first dat so um you sat we were on this couch mhm you sat super close to me that's nice and you did you looked at me like you weren't distracted by whatever was going on you were really engaged and what I was saying and who I was and all that stuff and I had never really met somebody like that you know I mean there was it was like pure interest I was interested yeah yeah it was yeah so let's not talk about the past about this and I think I took out a little ey booger yeah yeah you okay so that's kind of the nice that's the nice antice so where people where did people check out your podcast here to help anywhere you can get b there it is look yeah there is yeah uh I go to coffee shops I'm trying to get the profile up a little bit so I'll be there and then uh yeah you can listen to where but it's been a lot of fun call and advice show and as you can see it's great we're okay at it and and you guys are um you guys seem like a great Duo get along we've been friends for a long time oh really we've been friends we started with we were doing improv together when we both kind of came up at around the same time we were friends with a lot of the same people then he got really in he does the dollup and got really into podcast and has been talking about him for a while and saying we should do one together yeah well just cuz as you can see I was like you will Mur he's so good at it he was like Mur so good at it you I mean you guys are this is I know we know look at the numbers but anyway but I honestly um I'm just excited for you guys and today I I'll be honest with was the most fun I've had in a very long time I think no I've had fun in all of them and I appreciate all the guest that's come through but um this I listen to two episodes of you guys' podcast one you answered a question um about how you helped a woman gain more nerd clout yes the pilot which I thought was super cute the second one was about a man named Santos who a kid so you started at the beginning what we I recommend anybody who's listening who starts started the most recent okay so why cuz we were just figuring it out and the show what I love about podcast without Executives and without a network is it can keep changing and growing and you can kind of figure out what it is so I feel like the early shows were a lot of fun but we didn't we're just starting to find what the thing is so those calls I really like the callers were really great but I am starting to feel and Garf and I will talk about we're like oh now we're finding what the [ __ ] show is and what's fun is you're like oh these podcasts can keep changing and evolving and growing and becoming something all new organically I know that things that work throw out the stuff does try new stuff we would have guests on it first and we thought at the beginning we don't want to do interviews I was like I don't want to do 30 minutes of how' you become an actor I like there's enough of those I don't want to do them and then we would while people were there you're like oh fun you're here with us we want to ask you but we were doing them during the calls yeah yeah then we realized so the caller be like anyway so I the car I crashed the car and I can't tell him so again so you were on the office and then so we started then doing like oh we're going to interview at the end but that was only like two episodes ago yeah and once you change something we're both like oh that felt better so there could be a world where maybe I could do it we would we've invited both you guys no you haven't yes we have they really yes I don't know who you called not me whoever was emailing with us yeah I texted you about it once let me look no don't it will be there I don't think it'll be there 100% it won't be there it will be there yeah we'd love to be on I have so much more G this relationship there it is G reyn this was yeah yeah he goes good to see you last night man with oh yeah oh yeah anyway anyway um great gig yeah great gig umal and Bobby's assistant I'll be your assistant can you get me some coffee no I'm working
