hey good morning this is the jay dennis podcast for tuesday november 17th 2020 uh 5 45 a.m it's one of those one of those days where i successfully got up early at the first alarm wait hold on one sec damn it you know i really do need a new laptop not a working laptop but a personal one that i do like all my media and stuff on but i don't know maybe i can delete a bunch of stuff off of here and optimize it defragment to whatever you do to help it run fast again i got this thing like eight almost eight and a half years ago um and i still write music on it and upload videos i mean if i can make it last a few more years without having to buy a new one i'd be okay but i really do need to get it fixed and optimized but i know that there's some components in there that are not what they used to be but at least i have a a work computer and it's mine i bought it and i use it for work um so definitely covered there wow wasn't that first minute and a half of the podcast exciting as i sip this coffee i love the ground uh pumpkin coffee that they have at target just by itself it tastes awesome but i have it mixed with a little bit of sugar cookie creamer oh man we're off to a hot start with this podcast um anyway speaking of this laptop um last night i was randomly thinking about some old music old lyrics that i wrote in conjunction with um a temporary band that i was part of with a good friend of mine it's one of those bands that just kind of just ended but like nothing bad happened but it just didn't work out we couldn't couldn't maintain a drummer and i don't know just had to finish college so it was pretty hard to be in a band at the time but luckily enough i got back in touch with the guy um which was nice he reached out to me on instagram and i was happy to hear from him one of my best friends from high school um never had any issues with him we just lost contact for a few years so it's good to hear from him and kind of awoken something in me to find some old material revitalize it so i went on this laptop of course and this is the laptop i was using this band was pretty active during the summer of 2013. so i had quite a few guitar profiles and um lyrics written but those weren't raptor riot really raptor riot style songs the band wasn't a raptor ride it was i think we called ourselves uh the acoust reflex and i came up with that name because of like the shield from god of war aegis or something where like it's like you use it as a counter-attack of course it had some sort of greek mythology behind it just like the band before i was in when we were called citizen ravage eventually we changed our name to athenian travesty but that was back when i was much more into like post hardcore uh death metal metalcore style stuff but i mean it's not like we necessarily fell into either one of those genres or sub-genres by itself but in hindsight i would say citizen ravage was a much better name sounds like a political band i mean we were inspired by system of a noun years ago that's what kind of inspired us to start it back when we were freshman in high school but yeah so last night i got a hankering to see if i could find some old documents that i did so i found um a couple of old song lyrics see if i can use them somehow i was pretty happy with most of them i was telling my wife this i was like you know in a much less successful sense i am much like dave mustain right before he got kicked out of metallica where he was sitting on like a stockpile of riffs and probably lyrics too and that allowed him to use them for years to come and i feel like i've done the same thing i'm to this day sitting on just a some songs i have to remember how to play them and i have to even remember if i really liked them enough to do something with them but during my high school years and early college years i wrote a lot of music and i probably only transcribed like onto something tangible or recorded maybe about a quarter of it just roughly guessing there and not every song deserves to see the light of date and every song is going to be an album song there's going to be some songs that are called b-sides but like there are songs where i'm like i like that riff i like these lyrics but they need a different feel to them and then that's kind of how they jump genres and they become something more appealing to what i want to do today um and then of course there's risks that i write i wrote where i was just like wow that is a classic um metal core riff it would go perfect it was it was fine just the way it was so there's a couple songs that i'm grappling with i'm like i want to keep it the way it is and just transcribe it or do i want to give it more of a music or even a vocal um change to it so we'll see but all that to say about seven minutes into this podcast i am still active i was never in question um i feel like i'm about to go into a season of deep creativity um putting out ranked and reviewed videos again i recently put up seven dust uh without any promotion it seems to already be getting some views so maybe because blood and stone recently came out people are looking up and just as seven dust a seven dust new album and my video was tagged under that um and then this weekend on sunday i think my machine head ranked and reviewed will be up so i'll probably excuse me make a bunch of these ahead of time and then release them like on a weekly basis i am almost done with all the remains in their nine albums i technically already finished and have a ranking but i want to go back and re-listen to a few albums that are kind of close so there's they're mostly albums from the early 2010s um for we are many um a war you cannot win and the order of things those three albums i kind of need to re-listen to them to see how i really feel about them against each other but obviously the golden age of metal core era will ultimately reign supreme spoiler alert um and then i technically already did black dalia murder but same thing re-listening to them to see if i really feel that way about my ranking but i'm also working on some bands that have a smaller discography like stone sour and their six albums maybe as la dying in their six albums breaking benjamin in their six albums um considering revisiting trivium because of their new album and that's the first ranked interview video i ever did but that was like almost three years ago so see how that ranking has stood the test of time i think i'd still agree with it but we'll see um so yeah anyway i am feeling good on the creative front it's just i've been slacking the past couple of weeks with my fitness it's been cold as and i keep telling myself this isn't the time to get fat this is the time to get fit underneath all these winter clothes um my wife and i are probably moving somewhere hotter next year so i'm excited about that i don't like i don't like the cold at all i mean i imagine most people don't but i also imagine there are people that love living in cold areas you have people living in alaska for god's sakes and people living in minnesota so i don't know it's because they love it but i hate the cold i don't like wearing layers i mean ultimately it's comfortable but it's still cold as hell so i don't like it um and i need to work on my fitness um and i have family coming next week for thanksgiving it's a small gathering because we take this pandemic seriously it's just two people and they're quarantining before they come and see us because even though we have a competent person coming in to the white house that's already proving to be taking this thing more seriously in just a few short weeks as as the president-elect already taking this thing more seriously we still have to deal with the fallout of the last sevenish months and um a lame duck session um so i bring all that up because i probably will be doing some work next week but it'll mostly be a week off so i'm gonna try to crank out as much as i can this week and um what is the soundtrack to these next uh couple of weeks i've been piling up quite a bit of 2020 releases that have come out this year from various bands and a lot of these artists i have listened to already in their new albums but there's quite a few that i haven't yet and you know part of them are a lot of them are what inspired ranked and reviewed videos like a mirror uh eminem deftones uh taylor swift seven dust but other oh man maybe i should do late on my god too um but now that i was just listening to last night that i'm very happy about so far and excited to listen to it more is seether their new album however you pronounce it it's a cv's pasem para bellum sounds really good so far that might be the new album of the week right there and then the classic album of the week i guess would be all that remains and uh i don't know fall of ideals that metalcore classic um anyway let's extend this on to another clip you know just looking at my desktop i noticed that i also have a bunch of raw video clips from the past decade really since 2013. um a lot of to work with maybe i'll put up some time capsule videos of the last decade stuff that never saw the light of day just to kind of show my life journey and how i got to where i'm at uh today the videos haven't so much been as frequent like actual videos of me as they were before um and i'm nowhere near as active on social media as i used to be but obviously i've been doing a podcast since 2016 so at least you're hearing an audio version of what i'm doing with some occasional uh live videos of me sprinkled in there but that's what that's what i'm saying is it's not just with the music and but it's with like videos and everything too like i have a lot of raw material i'm sitting on it's not all it's not like a gold mine or anything but i don't know um so the people out there that listen to this podcast and friends fans what have you to give a about my life and my my story you know i deeply appreciate it um i don't know if it was because i tagged post-election coverage in it but just randomly i noticed that one of the last podcasts i put up had like there's like 14 or 17 views on it which doesn't sound like a lot but for my podcast it is i don't know if it was just i i didn't watch it or listen to it i love one person just went back and hate watched it or something a few times but it was just because i tagged the election in it but my podcasts really don't get any views and i'm okay with that this thing's kind of underground um if it ever does get more listeners that's cool but if i really took this thing seriously and wanted more attention or sponsors or advertisers obviously i'd have more of a different uh format and i'd upload it onto like an actual podcast network this is just this is just therapeutic and kind of like an audio diary for me so if anybody does listen to this and does give a i mean hey thanks i appreciate it i if i find a channel that i like i have the habit of kind of binge watching or depending on how much content they have i'll space it out pace it out that's kind of what i'm hoping for with this channel i'm hoping that say there's like 300 videos on this channel and like more than half of them are podcasts if somebody finds this channel and they like it and have a lot in common with me with like the music i like maybe my politics and a few other things and they decide they want to binge watch it i get enough of that then the views will come in of course and then the subscribers will come in and then eventually be able to make money off of this and um sell merchandise because i actually have some t-shirt ideas too um but for the time being this is something that i just do for fun that's why i'm not really doing it on a schedule except for the podcast i try to release these on tuesdays but everything else kind of just happens as it comes out but like i've mentioned on the last podcast i did just knock out another item on my debt snowball which means i am that much closer to being completely financially um independent debt-free um the only anchor that'll be around my neck for maybe 10 or 15 years is a is a mortgage but i won't have student loan debt i won't have a car payment um which means all the money that i make gets to go into my savings my i want to retire the word retirement account but just my financial freedom account i don't want to look at retirement as a destiny i don't want to dislike my life so much so that i find my work to be a means to an end rather something that i enjoy doing and i use it in conjunction with again i have dual passions i like personal finance and helping people with their money not be broke which is why i'm a financial advisor and insurance agent but also artistically my passion is music and making videos and if i can get those two to work in conjunction with each other i have a very fulfilling life but ultimately would i prefer to not work at all hell yeah i love my career and i've been doing it for about two and a half years and it's the longest i've done something in a while i'm in a stage of my life where i don't want to change careers or jobs anymore i want to sit pretty for a long time i've done the whole interview and multiple jobs thing before like i'm done with that but ultimately they were up to me what i just want to around knowing that i have a pile of money that is lasting for the foreseeable rest of my life then yeah i would rather just make music and tour and make videos play video games like and yeah play video games yeah i'm an adult but video games are geared more towards adults these days and as a child of the 90s and the 2000s i kind of came up in what i believe to be the golden age of gaming so of course i get nostalgic for all that stuff and i just want to play i have like old systems that i want to set up and and uh play um but you know earlier this year during the pandemic a couple of new games had come out and i played them you know final fantasy 7 resident evil 3 make alien isolation a little bit of crash bandicoot um but the past like two months i guess since i've beaten alien isolation i haven't really played anything so i'm okay with that but eventually i didn't want to get back and beat god of war from 2018. um jesus christ what did i want to talk about yeah so i mentioned what my album of the week was it was the new seether album and of course i'm listening to all the remains and like i mentioned i need to get back into my fitness um i'm not looking at any notes or talking points or anything i'm kind of just going off of my brain and the fact that it's the beginning of the day oh yeah in a few hours i will be getting a flu shot i do not like i mean i believe in them but i don't like getting vaccines they suck i don't like needles but i think i can handle it it's been a few years since i've gotten something stuck at me like that so i'm way overdue for a tetanus shot too i've had i've had good insurance the past couple of years and i haven't really used it especially this year with the pandemic i'm trying to stay inside but there's so much that i need to go do i need to go like actually see a primary care doctor and just get a checkup um and just kind of get all my vaccinations up to date you know what yeah i guess that's kind of what i want to end this clip with it's just a minor rant i guess just the sheer fact that we live in a time like i know that there's been conspiracy and there's been like a counter movement against science and logic always but it feels like since the onset of social media and everything else and admittedly like most of this population i am addicted to my smartphone device too but it's and look i'm going to justify it anyway i don't agree with it there are actually times where i try to tell myself hey look dude for the first like 10 to 15 minutes you're awake no news no music no anything playing in your ear just enjoy some silence for a little while smartphone addiction but it's not the social media i'm not addicted to that anymore that's something i believe i've outgrown i really don't use it but you know i get my news on my phone youtube podcasts music of course it's pretty much what all of it is but just the constant just influx of noise and distractions and you know of course some productivity too but i think it's toxic on some level just the fact that i always have to have something going on it's not good but then the rest of society that are getting poisoned by misinformation um the difference between misinformation and disinformation as disinformation is blatant lies and propaganda misinformation is unintentionally spread information that is incorrect disinformation is intentionally lying and spreading lies and propaganda generally i'm pretty sure i got that right i looked it up recently disinformation of course spreads way faster it requires less thought to spread lies which is why certain news channels news outlets websites are doing so well and because of our bad education system which is poorly funded we have a society full of idiots that are easy to dupe and you have politicians and talking heads that are taking advantage of them now i'm not giving all the patience and all the understanding to these idiots that are duped by them but to this day again it is kind of startling that even though joe biden did win handedly he won by at least five and a half million votes at this point um more than three percentage points um it wasn't the electoral landslide that obama had over mccain or romney that i'm that i remember obama had like a real landslide over mccain it was like more than double the electoral college votes and like seven points in the popular vote um and joe biden won by the same margin of the electoral college that trump did over hillary which is kind of poetic except trump did not win the popular vote either time joe biden won both a democrat or sorry republican hasn't won the popular vote since 2004. and i saw something interesting that showed that donald trump is the absolute best at losing he is the only president that has hit the trifecta of losing where again he's the only one that's done all three of these things he's either been impeached or resigned and um nixon and clinton join him on that list um he's the one of the only ones to not win the popular vote which he joins bush and i think a few others on that one and then he joins a i think like a ten list long presidents that were only one term presidents so you have a one term president that's never won the popular vote and you have been impeached or resigned he's the only president to hit all three winner that's a loser and brought out the worst in americans and their ability to consume disinformation and lies so hatred towards the free press which the press is deeply flawed and corrupt by corporate outlets or you know advertisers or whatever but it's still they're still a source for free speech so it's still unconstitutional to attack the free press um in that capacity as the president we can do it as citizens but kind of running out of time here but i just wanted to say all that to where i'm just kind of disgusted with how our society has behaved this year maybe i'll talk more about it on the following clip we'll see yeah it we're going long here um yeah i'm i'm just disgusted by how our society has acted this year how selfish how childish how immature a bunch of adults are acting um not only do you have adults going on social media and trying to reclaim their childhood by acting like teenagers using slang and um just doing whatever they can to still feel young like things just look different today mid-life crises are being stretched out over years and months now with social media high school reunions are no longer exciting or fun because the mystery of how people are doing for the most part has been taken away because of social media and to just stay on topic with what i've been saying the spread of disinformation and this desire to go viral by being a dumbass and not wearing a mask in public is really showing how insecure and how unintelligent and how immature uh people are being um like what kind of baby can't go outside and wear a mask it's not that hard did you know that you can breathe through a mask you can talk through a mask usually what i do is i wear a surgical mask and then i layer a cloth mask on top of it um i'm pretty sure that's more effective than wearing two condoms before you make any jokes there but i know just one mask is fine but i like to add the second layer just in case and plus it helps the the cloth layer is usually a little bit tighter so it kind of keeps it up against my face nice um but yeah just this just just the fact that we have adults going around just being little and complaining and not being able to wear a little cloth covering on their face it just shows how sad our society is the fact that we could not the fact that we even had to get to a point where we had to basically essentially take a year off and do things differently for a year our society has failed especially now that we're coming on to the holiday season where a lot of really good but also toxic traditions of like america consumerism um black friday uh gluttony all this stuff just takes the forefront because god forbid we do something different for a year like i get that maybe for a lot of people this year was probably a terrible time for a lot of this stuff to happen there might have been people that feel like they got their last days or months robbed from them because of this year so i get that everybody has the luxury of taking the year off but we wouldn't have had to have taken a year off if we'd actually had a proper response to this pandemic and if people had actually taken this seriously if you're getting bothered by the fact that we have to do things differently then there's a high chance that it's people like you that are causing that it's not people like me and my wife and by the way i haven't asked to grind with this obviously you've heard me on past podcast talk about this because my mom works in the healthcare field i know how overwhelmed the system is my wife is a teacher i know how overwhelmed that system is i work in finance personal finance i'm killing it right now so i'm actually okay with that but rain or shine economic turmoil or growth i'm gonna be okay um but that's the thing though if i can just suck my own dick for a minute i don't just think about myself i think about other people believe it or not that's why i wear a mask out there because god forbid i'm sick or asymptomatic i don't want to spread to somebody else because i wouldn't want somebody else to do that to me so the fact that we have adults and this is my pet peeve it's when adults act like children when you're a kid guess what you can act like a kid you can get all that stuff out of your system while you're young but eventually you have to grow the up and deal with life and all the great and terrible things that it has to offer if you cannot handle if if if you're an adult and you feel like a badass or a rebel walking into a store like you're like looking around like laughing or like to yourself mocking everybody for following the rules and wearing a mask like do you do the same thing when you go out and not wear a seat belt i mean you do that for your safety and everybody else's too what if you got into a car accident you projectiled yourself out and you like a human lawn dart torpedoed into somebody that seat belt might injure you but it won't kill you generally speaking but yeah it's really stupid to want a new and especially a temporary mandate or rule or cultural norm is established that there's just and this is coming from somebody that's generally rebellious doesn't like to play by the rules but if it involves public health and public safety it's kind of a no brainer and it's common sense and it really pisses me off to see people that i care about people that i used to look up to and respect act a damn fool whether you're religious or not if you feel like we're being tested this year to see do people need to get back in touch with god uh do people need to get back in touch with what's important in life do people need to stop being so complacent in their life and kind of just going with the motions and figure out how to not be so selfish that's what this whole culture and society and capitalism is built around it's all about self accountability and preservation but it's like how do you expect to work with people and be happy and ultimately fulfill that need to have connections with people if you're just going to completely disregard them whether they're friends or strangers or not or whatever if you're following if you're failing this simple task it's not just our culture it's our government too our government has failed the fact that we don't have a government that's willing to put its people first and pay them to stay home but we're willing to willing to pay for corporate subsidies we're willing to pay for a bloated military we're willing to overfund the police don't the police need a break maybe there's so many rogue pissed off cops up there because they're overworked maybe they're killing white people too because they're just overworked maybe we should take some of the resources and spread it out and give it to people so the cops can have an easier job and be more pleasant everybody needs to get their together in their priorities in order it's not just the government but it's us as people too especially these so-called freedom liberty lovers that think that their personal rights are being infringed upon did you say the same thing when you were asked to wear a seat belt did you say the same thing when you were asked to have basic hygiene so that when you go out in public you don't stink up the room or spread any type of disease or anything like you already carry yourself and follow a bunch of rules anyway so why can't you do something simple to help prevent the spread of a highly contagious airborne virus you idiot so look if you're one of these people that thinks that this it's impressive to wear a mask and look i'm about to get on my liberal soapbox here and it doesn't have to be liberal i could just be a soapbox because this shouldn't be political but you must live a really privileged life if the hardest thing you've had to do all year is put on a mask you think your personal liberties are being infringed upon you are effectively infringing on everybody else's liberties who are taking this thing seriously because you are prolonging something you're preventing people like me from being able to see my family you think i don't want to go out and go out to eat too you think i don't miss going shopping at stores you think i don't miss my office you think i don't miss seeing my co-workers like you think we enjoy this we don't but your selfish assholery and whatever reality devoid planet that you're living on it's gonna be lonely long term because people like me are gonna speak out against you and drag you through the mud enough and make you feel some shame because what you're doing is extremely shameful it's extremely selfish and big picture and small picture it's extremely damaging and again the reason why i have such an axe to grind about this is because even though i have a really good situation i am still affected by this but also i've just seen one too many people that i respect care about look up to be really stupid during this and some people have the gall to laugh it off not attempt to refute or say anything that i'm saying that's true and whether my approach and the way i say things is perfect or not you need to know that you're being watched i'm not talking about big brother big government with your tin foil hat i'm talking about there are people that are observing whether it's old friends or colleagues or family there are people that are watching you act and yeah my language might not be flowery and i might not be winning you over but i don't know maybe you like me maybe you care about what i have to say and that is what i have to say wear the mask social distance it's okay if you don't have to go to applebee's for a while it really is we have failed but we still have the opportunity to do better and we have nearly a quarter million americans that are no longer with us has a significant number and we have millions of americans that are going to have long-term morbidities because of this so before you start talking about death rates and how it's not really a big deal that's extremely callous of you to say anyway but learn to dissect some context before before you say something and sound completely heartless and do not ever attempt to take the moral high ground again because if you're part of this population that's acting full this year you've lost all credibility and all ability to be a part of this conversation we don't want to hear from you hey and randomly i'm back um i just left um the minute clinic tried to go early in the morning there was really nobody in there got a flu shot yep live in a really cold area and i don't know i haven't gotten a flu shot in years um i typically don't go see doctors anyway because i'm very healthy but i don't want to take that for granted i have good insurance so i may as well use it the shot was free it was painless it was easy um i was like talking to the guy the whole time about how nervous i was and he was you know he was cool and he did it and i literally felt nothing um i'm just kind of queasy when it comes to needles and having blood drawn and stuff like that but obviously i've done it before and i don't know maybe i'm better at handing handling vaccines than i thought and i don't know maybe over time i'll toughen back up with that but right now that's kind of one of my achilles heels is i am very queasy with that kind of if i i like sliced my finger open a few years ago like the tip of my thumb and i got so light-headed i mean luckily i was able to stop the bleeding and like i sliced it on a food processor like i needed stitches but fortunately i was able to get it taken care of and they were liquid stitches too which was great but anyway there's your fun little story of the week jay dennis went and got himself a flu shot because vaccines work and during the pandemic i don't want to have any additional risks so i took him off the table yo what's up it's monday morning november 16th about 8 o'clock and oh man i'm most of the way through my all that remains discography as i probably mentioned in the last clip i just recently uploaded a seven dust and machine head um ranked and reviewed the machine head one will be out uh later in the week i don't want to upload them too close together i want to stagger them a little bit because i have both the mind of a youtube content creator and somebody who doesn't play by the rules um but yeah i know obviously it doesn't make sense to even if i have several videos at once ready to go it doesn't make sense to upload them all at the same time because who the hell is going to watch them all at the same time it's better to release them on somewhat of a schedule but anyway i have thoroughly enjoyed going back and going down memory lane of course with some other older material but also getting caught up on albums from the last decade that i didn't really get into or that i overlooked um and i'm particularly fond of this ranking because it's easier it's nine albums but they're all in their own right distinct and if i'm correct only only one of them or two of them are close enough to where i'm like oh how do i do a tiebreaker with this one whereas with seven dust i had like a seven way tie between seven albums and with all the remains um it's gonna be pretty easy for me to rank and review them um yeah going back and listening to albums from the golden age of metal core in high school and then going back and listening to the ones from the past decade that i overlooked i'm going to say this in my video ultimately but what i keep learning as i'm doing these ranked and reviewed videos is just how unexperienced and uh ignorant i was back then was something that i care deeply about and that's music especially metal music i used to think oh because an album cover looks a certain way the band probably sold out because they have one radio single i was i was wrong but i'm not here to beat myself up and talk about how shitty i was because i've always thought very highly of myself it's just i've evolved and grown and realized i can do things better and i think these days i'm a lot less critical and more open-minded about music and it doesn't feel forced i don't do it because i feel like i need to please anybody and if i still think something is i'll be open about it but i'm i have a a shorter fuse or sorry a longer fuse and a more open mind about these things moving forward so like just an example and again i'll ultimately say this in my video but if you don't watch that this is the podcast um just because a band puts out a radio single and then the album artwork from that single from the album looks like butt rock or radio rock all the remains in 2012 put out an album called a war you cannot win and they put out what sounded like a generic radio single and i was just like okay these guys sold out they got ak-47s and a skull on this and it's called a war you cannot win how how mainstream metal rock radio rock can you be but it turns out that album's got quite a few heavy tracks on it so i was wrong about that and again i there were quite a few bands that i overlooked because i thought oh whoa because of the album covering because of the maybe the name of a song they sold out but whatever man i'm quite happy and feeling more spiritually fulfilled lately because i am going back and listening to these albums that i've overlooked and i'm commentating on them and there's quite a few that i've had to listen to a few times to get a feel of a feel for them um i'll get into more detail on those other main albums in the actual video um and then beyond that i'm also doing black dahlia murder that one was particularly difficult um because like seven dust they're a very consistent band with really no dips at all um but i'm having fun doing this um and also with the holiday season coming up i tend to listen to system of a down this time of year quite a bit so as weird as it might sound um i'm definitely due to do a like a live in person video not just a slideshow with my um commentary audio in the background but you actually see me in the video i actually own every system all five system of a down album so i'm probably gonna do that one the next couple weeks um just so i can get just so i can actually put on paper how i actually feel about the albums i think i would know what my my rankings are but i don't know i should actually go through listen to every album and see which album i think is the best or the worst see if an album like mesmerized has aged better because i'm telling you man there's like certain albums that more often than not they they hit differently and better when you listen to them with a fresh ear versus when you were a kid and it's pretty rare um but it did happen this morning um occasionally you get the reverse the song hit you way harder back then than it does today for whatever reason uh the closing track of all the remains overcome album which is a very nostalgic album for me very sentimental album to me the closing track believe in nothing which is a i believe a nevermore cover um that song was like my jam back then and listening to it today i still really enjoyed it but i don't i'm not entirely sure if it gave me the same goosebumps that it did back then because different different time in life different potency different relativity whatever you want to call it um but that instance where it doesn't hit as hard today especially for a nostalgic person like me it's more rare but i'm not going to declare that just yet i feel like maybe i should listen to it again oh but it's been nice being on this podcast talking about music talking about my art talking about raptor riot which i'm going to be working on quite a few tracks earlier this year i wrote quite a few on guitar pro and i've been practicing and writing lyrics and vocals but i've been a little slow the rest of the year during the pandemic which is weird because i've been inside more hasn't been completely devoid of creativity but it's not been as consistent but now i feel like i'm getting back into a a mode where i'm writing music and i just need to transcribe it um lyrics um midi files all that stuff i definitely still need to put new strings on my other guitar but again the setup right now has two guitars one is in drop a sharp slash c standard then the other one is in drop c sharp slash uh e flat standard um those are just the tunings right now um when i listen to bands like love and death and even some seven dust songs and of course architects excuse me of course it makes me want to drop down even lower to g sharp but that's just not the move right now i think i'm enjoying my setup but a little bit of a pivot here uh part of the reason i wanted to record this podcast clip is to just kind of reaffirm something here to to you guys um and yeah a little little spoiler alert i'm about to get political here for a few minutes but it's been nice being a little disengaged the past couple weeks after having been heavily involved in watching the election a little a little too a fault but whatever but something that really needs to be addressed and there just needs to be another voice echoing this um it is fantastic not talking about the orange man as much but he's still a lame duck president and with that i don't want to talk about him so much but i want to talk about his supporters i'm not here to villainize an entire voting bloc 70 million people i'm not here to say that they're all bad people i would say his hardcore base like the actual maga people like those people are probably just generally unmovable and i have no interest in trying to talk to them but if they are part of this group which i highly imagine they are then this message is for them we need to stop calling and i'm not the first person to say this but i'm echoing it because people are still making this mistake we need to stop calling these trump supporters that are threatening violence or civil war even if it's just they're just blowing smoke we need to stop calling them militias they're not malicious they are domestic terrorists and gangs okay because they have the gall to call people that are against fascism anti-fascists they have the gall to call them domestic terrorists when it's actually not a group it's an ideology whereas all these other extreme right-wing groups that have been labeled by the fbi is the number one threat to america they're the ones that are brandishing semi-automatic war weapons in public at peaceful protests and escalating things they're the ones that are going and banging on windows of voter places and trying to intimidate people from letting democracy happen so we need to quit calling people malicious because you know it was a militia the founding fathers that fought off the british back in the uh american revolution that was a militia and by definition in the constitution these extreme right wingists these extremist right wingers which again i know they don't encompass the entire republican party they're pretty much i don't want to say they're a fringe group but there's enough of them that think that just because democracy happened because that their demigod lost that their rights are under attack it's it's a very miserable way to live your life just in constant fear and misery and racism these are actual groups with members and with like tests of and like oaths that you have to like swear to like be in and generally they're a bunch of n cells that i mean everything in life boils down to sex really because you can't go out there and get laid because you're probably addicted to porn from a young age you have a lot of pent up frustration you want to blame everybody else especially non-white people for your problems so in order to feel like you're part of a group you get brainwashed into a very easily substance to substanceless ideology that's easy to follow it's easy to conflate disgust and fear together and just build this entire weak ass ideology that then makes you want to commit violence against your fellow man so we need to stop calling them militias because the question on all these videos is will trump militias engage in civil war or would million meg of march trump militias it's like stop giving them attention they are not malicious they are gangs and they are domestic terrorists whenever they do engage in that activity and they are statistically far more likely to engage in it than like the occasional one-off incident where maybe somebody from like trying to compare a right-wing gang or extremist group to like black lives matter or antifa anti-fascist is on its face stupid just like every other argument that they put up its projection at its finest and they actually have the violence and the weaponry to back it up so we need to stop feeding into this narrative that they are patriots they're not they're treasonous bastards
