what is the nether deep to those that don't know i can't be too specific because part of discovering that is within the book and the story but what i can say is another deep is a a dangerous dark space that ah what what can i say i will i will say if you've ever ever looked at videos of the terrifying creatures that exist in impossible depths of the ocean and gone this is a hellscape that type of experience is what inspired me to create another deep what's so terrifying about the ocean i know there is a vast area that we know very little of already in our own world so to add dnd onto that your visibility is limited so the things that can eat you are closer than you would like them to be and more alien like certainly um so we've already talked a little bit about the call and call of the nether deep the nether deep in call of the nether deep is a new subterranean not subterranean uh submerged sunken realm um which has a kind of an unusual influence upon it so it's not just a deep sea abyss it has something else going on and is pretty spooky um and what you see there is kind of a blend of natural and unnatural elements i think that uh conceptually it certainly is one of the coolest environments we've ever presented let alone visualized because they're all inspired by creatures of the deep but the magic and sort of supernatural evil that permeates the nether deep has given them some uniquely upsetting mutations you worked on call of the nether day yes i did very specifically you brought some of the uh horrific monsters or wonderful depending on your point of view why not both why not both uh that you find in another deep yeah tell me a little bit about that about making these creatures unique there are a lot of horrifyingly twisted aberrations that sort of inhabit that foul infested space and it was really cool getting the draw from real life terrifying deep sea monsters to create these fantastical undersea aberrations like you see things like you know fish or like more eels and they're already terrifying a lot in real life and then you go yeah what if we made an angler fish that just stole light it just took your light from you when you're in the middle of the deep dark depths of the ocean and then it exploded it back in your face i i love sea monsters and i love those kinds of creatures that are just the fact that makes them terrifying is that they could exist in reality and they have a basis in reality and that's what makes them horrifying yeah what sort of things would would live and thrive in a space that is lightless underwater and under pressure for an extended period of time what sort of of hellscape would be spawned from that in comparison to what you know you know surface dwellers in the world of andrea would consider normal if you liked this interview and you'd like to see more go ahead and like the video subscribe to the channel and hit that little bell symbol so you're notified anytime a video like this comes out thank you so much for watching
