The History of Cookie Jar TV

[Music] well everyone i'm back and luckily unlike last time no copyright strikes have been filed so that's good anyway for this history video i've got a treat for you it's time to take a look at cookie jar tv now i never watched cookie jar tv much when i was younger i mostly remember watching busy town mysteries on it when i was sick however in recent months i've taken a real interest in it a block run by the same company that produced so many shows that i used to watch such as the doodle bops and some seasons of arthur and johnny test i knew i had to cover this block at some point and so here it is the story of one of the most underrated blocks of the late 2000s this story picks up about where my video about nick jr on cbs left off so if you'd like to watch that video i'll put a link in the video description but to recap in january 2006 cbs announced that it would partner with deke entertainment to create a saturday morning block on cbs the block was originally to be given the catchy name of cbs's saturday morning secret slumber party but then deke partnered with kol the kids version of aol to help reduce content for the block and so it was renamed to kol secret slumber party the secret slumber party part of the name came from the slumber party girls a team pop group that was formed that same year and was chosen by cbs deak and kol to host the block as well as dance dance dance one of the blocks launch shows and so on september 16 2006 one week after nick jr on cbs ended its run kol's secret slumber party launched and my friends it was quite possibly the most girly thing to ever come out of the 2000s get ready for kol's secret slumber party on cbs it's black it's splashy fashiony stuff so totally get up and shake it we rock with madeline sabrina the trolls get tricky while horseland is riding high it is beautiful also it's the do-it-yourself diva cake like it stop it get down because the dance revolution is here see ya so check out kol's secret slumber parties tune in saturdays at 9 00 a.m and sundays at 7 a.m on channel 2 i mean it's line up included shows like cake horseland sabrina's secret life sabrina the animated series madeline and the aforementioned dance dance dance which would later become dance revolution not to be confused with the game dance dance revolution seriously nothing says two thousand girls stuff to me quite like this except maybe for polly pocket there's some good dancers here let's show what we've got paulie now if any of you like any of those shows or enjoyed kol's secret slumber party while growing up i'm not saying you're wrong for liking them i just know that i personally wouldn't have liked it when i was younger anyway koel's secret slumber party lasted until mid 2007 when kol withdrew their sponsorship and it was also around this time that the slumber party girls were breaking up over a dispute between the band's members over dating keegan mcfadden an actor who played benjamin turner on cake after all this cbs and deke announced a new partnership with american greetings corporation to relaunch secret slumber party as kulopoulos which was named after the team magazine kule kulopoulos launched that year with two new shows strawberry shortcake and care bears adventures in caroline which helped the block succeed as those two franchises were major at the time unfortunately kulopolis still didn't last very long because on july 23rd 2008 deke was purchased by cookie dragon so kulopoulos was relaunched as cookie jar tv in september of that year with this change the block was no longer solely aimed at girls and so the programming was changed to reflect this nearly all of the shows from the previous two blocks were dropped although a few eventually returned such as sabrina the animated series and strawberry shortcake also over time other cookie jar produced shows were added such as busytown mysteries and the doodlebops on july 24th 2013 cbs partnered with litten entertainment to create a new saturday morning block aimed at teenagers as a result cookie jar tv was discontinued two months later on september 21st and replaced by cbs dream team one week later though i never watched this block much when i was younger i can certainly see why it appealed to so many people it may not have been the greatest block to come out of the 2000s but it still had a lot of good shows and it was a kick to watch i personally think it was silly of them to replace it with a teen block i think they should have either kept cookie jar tv or replaced it with a new children's block although cbs dream team is itself a rabbit hole that we will definitely go down at some point let me know in the comments what do you think they should have done with cookie jar tv do you think
