The Haters Guide to the 2019 World Series

I have come to the logical consensus that I need to stop doing predictions and just let the damn games play out this is the part where I hate to break it to you but common sense and I have a pretty bad relationship it's a shame I know before I apparently jinx another team let us honor the fallen ones on the road to the World Series on that wild-card night I was looking forward to seeing two good baseball teams Duke it out for a chance at appending Houston what did I get instead I watched a team lead I'd I saw them get shanked in the outfield grass in front of 50,000 fans and slowly bleed out over the next three hours it's not like they even did anything wrong Sean Minaya was the right choice to start he just didn't perform that's all Tampa Bay needed the rest was a gust of quality pitching delete the Athletics to their ninth straight loss in them elimination game once again they keep chasing that rainbow but they never get there their newest dilemma is arguing with the City of Oakland over their awful stadium and might be moving to Las Vegas if it'll spend more than a pittance over there what the hell else can they do ownership won't spend and they're on a hamster wheel are they just doomed there are certain things that you just can't explain no matter how perfectly everything seems to be going it all just falls apart the Brewers are the perfect example a strong finish to the year their pitchers stifling the Nationals hitting to wear a pin could drop in their stadium with Josh Haider on the mound for the eighth inning it should be lockdown the problem is that they've gone to the hater well one too many times over the past few years he couldn't throw strikes with the bases loaded at this point all they could do is pray [Applause] let's go to school [Applause] you know who would have been in the outfield in a normal situation right Yelich Milwaukee you have your Bill Buckner yeah Grisham [ __ ] up but even today Brewers fans keep making [ __ ] excuses for the fact that Josh hater imploded you know deep down in your heart that the Mets should've been here instead of you get up I'm not gonna [ __ ] on yet you don't deserve it the problem with Tampa wasn't truly in them but in who they faced they got Verlander and then cold twice with the kind of ace pitching they faced no one was hitting that even after being left for dead they rattled off two wins to force a do-or-die game five it's at this point where they had to face Garrett Cobra ducks while Tyler glass now was tipping his pitches even for the shitty ending they had a nice year but I have one request increase the goddamn payroll you've seen what your management team can do with a bare-bones operation if you could even give them a budget of a hundred million dollars who the hell knows where they could go they won't though because Stern burgers the cheapest man can dream though Linds I would ask if you like being colonized but considering your love of being consistently owned by the Yankees that doesn't have to be imagine you had the opportunity to end the stale narrative you merely reinforced several of them including those not related to baseball it's quite the shame that your boogeyman can also hit homeruns you did don't worry homeruns are down in general this postseason due to temperature or so the MLB wants us to believe what you should worry about on the 16 straight losses in the playoffs tying the record in the four major sports you can [ __ ] about the Damn Yankees all you want but when they beat you 13 times in a row when it matters you are nothing but their [ __ ] even for the good season you had all you do is that feels wasteful you know what you had to do you'll fail miserably your flaws have been apparent for a while even if you chose to ignore them the Dodgers lacked a go-to guy for the back end of their bullpen guys like Belanger and Seager became total liabilities at the plate but the real issue Dave Roberts is a god-awful in-game manager I dare say he is the main reason why you were eliminated this early the game for bullpen game was a concern but game fives deployments were completely heinous you needed six outs to win after a great star popular so who do you call on play off Kershaw he predictably added to his infamous October legacy after that Joe Kelly was left to die for a second inning when it was he had nothing left where was Adam choleric he owned once out of this series what wasn't he in the game for as bad as he wasn't the stretch what was Kenley Jansen this bullpen bumbling should have gotten Roberts fired before he even set foot in the locker room but he's staying put when this happens again you'll have no one to blame but yourselves sometimes the biggest mistakes are the ones you refused to make you should take a long hard look at your franchise but you wall see you next year when you inevitably fall short yet again what the [ __ ] was that is it wrong that I expected much more out of the Braves than when I got somewhere I think Brian Snickers about to pop a vein in his brain from his players failing to perform when needed the only thing I can really fault him for was only starting Soraka for one game how was he supposed to know that foltynewicz would immolate like that when he had that dominant game - game five will live on and infamy it's another incredible collapse for a team that has in the illustrious history of it it's not even on any specific player the entire team crumble before they even stepped up to bat when you give up ten runs in the top of the first there's a good chance the game is over I will throw the book on you that hard but this is a wasted opportunity we can only hope we won't see it again but considering how Atlanta sports fair I fear it will repeat itself I speak not just for myself but for the majority of America thank God the Yankees didn't make it to the World Series nothing personal but from the way they were playing in the ALCS they didn't deserve to make it there it wasn't due to a lack of effort afforded to they've shown that in spades they just weren't good enough the Astros were the better team in many facets not picking up starting pitching at the deadline ended up being a main reason why it wasn't mostly to do with needing depth photo replacement for Domingo her mind when your best options are Tanaka and Paxton solid pitchers but you're looking at an uphill battle against Houston I mean you did your best DJ LeMahieu I quite possibly the best at-bat in recent memory to give you life but then you get a special delivery [Applause] by the littlest engine that good the world series will not have the Yankees in it for this entire decade I serenade you for fans with promptly 0 bucks and the rest of baseball dancing and delight well is it a criminal offense that I expected the Cardinals to put up some semblance of a fight the only logical reason I can come up with for this sweep is that they exhausted all of their reserves of magic pixie dust they literally had nothing absolutely nothing no answers for the gnats teller pitching st. Louis pitchers falling like leads on the ground and a strong fielding team suddenly turning into an on-field comedy whatever I say can't do this humiliation justice it's as if the Cardinals tried to rush out the gate and then decided it will be best to turn into a vaudeville routine in the first three games they only scored three runs against Washington then that's more than double that in the first inning of Game four yes you have seeded expectations this year yes you should be embarrassed by this display both of these can be correct yes that's the price of revenge you know what series Washington was getting it for and now we are down to two both worthy competitors with star power to rival each other on the billing enough promotion though who's coming out of the West I'm just glad I could say face enough at least one team I picked to go to the World Series make it I'm not kidding I'm getting tired if the alleged jinxing that place these things and was hoping at least one of them would get it done the Astros did but it wasn't as easy as expected Tampa Bay nearly took them to the brink in Game five but Houston did what they had to do and shut the door on their ambitions the Yankees were another team looking to change their postseason fortunes they've spent billions in this decade they need another shot at a World Series I think Altuve had the final word in that argument the Houston Astros need little explanation they are a machine a carefully sculpted optimally running top-notch organization that has devoted much to not only revolutionising the game but developing new and advantageous methods to be the best the rebuild was long and hard but look at the rewards of his born 2017 their first World Series in franchise history after years of pain that's just the icing on the cake the team and its fans have gotten a taste of what glory can be at this level now they wanted again their moves over the past year of signified in bright flashing lights all in there's no time like now to win a championship especially with the sheer amounts of skill and ability at every position from 2017 many pieces remain George Springer Carlos Correa Uli Coryell and Jose Altuve continue to lead the hidden core but new faces emerge Alex Bregman was on that championship team but he was still a prospect at the time now he's fighting for the AL MVP a true centerpiece an added asset to that great core perhaps even usurping some of them Michael Brantley a key free agent pickup he hit a ton in Cleveland and that's what he's done in Houston he also plays a pretty good left field as well that helps aid their newest rookie sensation in your Don Alvarez he said a rough postseason but the way he was mashing the ball in the summer you still can't take him lightly the pitching also got a facelift Justin Verlander and his dominance needs no introduction but Gerrit Cole's brand of strikeout goodness does since coming from Pittsburgh he's emerged as one of the top strikeout kings in the league his two dominating performances in Tampa Bay were some of the best of the postseason that should be expected to continue on the key deadline acquisition Zack Greinke a good shot at the Hall of Fame and now it's a third ace to a pitching staff full of riches unlike the other two he relies on control and deception a deadly weapon for a hitting staff trying to time up fast balls the bullpen is now led by Roberto Osuna despite his heinous actions running him out of Toronto you can't deny his talent and ability his only real blemish this postseason wasn't outstanding at-bat by DJ LeMahieu even if he falters they've got plenty more behind him the Astros are built for one thing and one thing only a World Series title this has been stated time and time again and it doesn't make it any less accurate everything has been lined up for their second championship in three years the only thing that could stop them a team trying to win their own demons [Music] the Washington Nationals have made the World Series exactly as everyone in baseball head for see what they remind me of is the junkie that has had numerous chances to get his act in order but constantly fell short every time then at the last moment after a major health issue and final intervention he finally gets clean and forces a new life for himself constant playoff failure over the past decade overcome and broken through but this has been far from easy for them let's travel back in time to late May the Nationals were nearing rock bottom a team expected to compete for the post season once again fell apart and looked all but dead with a 19 and 31 record Bryce Harper was laughing at them as his filly sneered at these peons below him from his new throw nothing had gone right the depth signings had fallen flat and their bullpen was one of the worst in recent memory that er a at the end of May is something that cannot be exaggerated rumors flying all over the place about their future selling assets perhaps dismantling the aging parts for a hard reboot but sometimes talent finds a way the Curley W proceeded to get its [ __ ] together and deal with their newfound adversity surging through the all-star break into October and shedding old team stereotype after old team stereotype delivering pain to their fans at home not happening game 5 syndrome but you know it's God being dunked on by the Dodgers and Cardinals try the other way around it's less of a glad you made it here and more about finally solve the talent they've boasted and still do it's kind of surprising it took this long the interesting thing about it this time around they're doing it with roughly half a pitching staff and by god are they high end Max Scherzer easily one of the best pitchers in this decade doing his usual thing of dominating the opposition with exceptional stuff in heterochromia Stephen Strasburg the second ace of the team Scherzer is equal but even younger I would go into more specifics but it would turn into a five minute Gus fest and no one wants that Patrick Korbin the new face of the rotation now where some of that Harper money went yep this guy not only a marquee pitcher himself but he's also a lefty which brings a different dynamic that the others can't provide another new wrinkle an old veteran and Anibal Sanchez once hitting the bottom himself he's rebranded his game into a blend of finesse into such it just look at him nearly throwing a no-hitter against the Cardinals in Game one of the NLCS their bullpen it still has guys like Sean Doolittle and Daniel Hudson aiding the heavily burdened pitching staff but it's the obvious weak link even then these six pitchers have been the bulk of their success and they should be applauded their elite core should also be so Anthony Rendon having an MVP caliber years one of the best third baseman in the game a man who can end hopes and dreams with a stick and glove one soda one of the best stars in the game his baddest vibrant and lively as his personality trait earner and underrated commodity the true glue of the infield is bad at the top of the lineup is an asset many desire Ryan Zimmerman more of a base nowadays but can still punish baseballs Victor Robles Adam Eaton better and depth like a struggle Cabrera and Gerardo Parra on the bench there isn't much to complain about I do have one more key piece to their success this year Josh hater if he doesn't implode in the wild-card game the Brewers silenced the Nationals in their home park their legacy of failure adds another chapter and we're discussing what happens with Rendon and other pieces now though they get their shot word of advice make it count the sports world is littered with those that just fell short for as great of a season you've had the final statement will be in the last game you play it's been over 80 years since a World Series has been played in DC break the glass ceiling with a bang well yeah somehow made it this far you want a prediction well if the odds makers have any say this is the most lopsided contest since 2007 personally I don't buy them I think this is going to be a hell of a lot closer than people imagine with the talent that Washington has it'll be a tough out will it be enough to take out a giant though knowing our wacky this baseball season has been [ __ ] it then that's when their first championship in seven why because the sports world wants me to do nothing but eat [ __ ] no other reason considering I've tried to analyze everything to only lead to failure why not throw something in the air that exonerated me of Washington fall short right should I start congratulating gusta now [Applause] fans have been waiting for two game [Music] so wait yeah you're right
