This all had one big problem IMHO: The robots were manned.
Because the robots have humans inside them, that means you can't use anything truly fast or lethal as a weapon. That 'chainsaw' was going super slowly, and the opposing robot was firing paintballs.
The fact that any of those things used PVC anything in their construction should be evidence that it was going to be not-awesome.
What they should have done is had the operators separate from the robots. Have some limit on lethality sure so you don't have one-shot-kills with 40mm grenades (maybe no projectiles is the way to go) but otherwise open it up to however fast and lethal the competitors want to get.
The announcer was like a parody of announcers
The obnoxious announcing is worse than the disappointing fights.
That could have been so cool and it just wasn't.
You got to love the Ocho
I've seen 8 year old boys put on a better show with toy robots
Take this over to cringeanarchy.
I think that while it was kind of underwhelming, it doesn't deserve to be trashed like it is. It's the first giant robot fight in history, and it sets a precedent for more giant robot fights in the future, which will be better. And when it comes down to it, it was a bunch of guys doing something cool because they thought was awesome. And with something like this, that deserves respect.
holy shit lets get outta here!! lol what a farce
