The Full Story and Lore of Octane | Apex Legends

apex legend season one wild frontier brought us the fan favorite octane the story and lore of octane is deeper than you might think and like before we're going to follow the timeline as events happen starting with the baby boy octavio silva there are time stamps in the description as always so let's get going octavio silva aka octane to his fans is a uh i guess you'd consider him a stunt man for lack of a better word he was born and raised in a rich family in the city of malta on the planet samathi you know the same planet that olympus floats on his pops eduardo silva nicknamed dwardo is the ceo of silva pharmaceuticals and he's a real hard ass on octane even resorting to physically beating him at times octane and his childhood friend aj shay aka lifeline both come from families seen as elites of the outlands however neither of them have any interest in their family businesses to octane the family business is just too boring being bored is something octane isn't particularly good at and is what catapulted his life into what it is now before the apex games he performed stunts throughout the outlands and streamed it to his fans and with each stunt he wanted to do the next one harder faster stronger he grinded rails on scooters crash tested rocket powered bikes and ramp jumped with hoverboards because he's an absolute adrenaline junkie beast he's had his fair share of minor and major injuries with obviously the greatest accident being the one where he lost his legs but since that happens later in octane's life let's rewind time for a second back to when he was more of a kid octane's biological mother was only his father's second wife and by the time he was 10 his father was already marrying a fourth woman i think it's safe to say that his dad is a bit of a man and octane feels zero connection to his dad's many spouses so he just calls them by number like his biological mother is number two anyway duardo silva wanted to make his fourth wedding like something out of the great gatsby so octane made some plans of his own to make it extra memorable it was time to perform the craziest stunt imaginable and stream it live to hundreds of thousands of fans the wedding actually took place on the moon of the planet called dionysus it's basically a resort moon owned by rich people where they live out their extravagant fantasies the place of the wedding was to take place around some fake hills and a little valley with a pool in the middle octane started ordering gathering firecrackers plywood labor contracts duct tape and yes even a hover car after he had everything he started building a ramp halfway up one of the hills with the help of some other people and once it was completed he disappeared until the wedding ceremony fast forward a little bit and the time for the wedding had come as his father was in the middle of saying his vows the live stream for octane was firing up to over a hundred thousand people at the top of the ramp octane hopped in his hover car which he called the ok train and started skirting down the ramp completely lit up in bad ass flames strapped to his chest were also a bunch of firecrackers so as he went flying off the ramp the flames ignited the firecrackers there was a huge explosion and octane came crashing down at the pool right next to his father people were so amazed by the performance that the rich boy octavio silva from that moment on became known as octane he felt like his life finally had purpose and he was genuinely happy his father on the other hand was completely furious with him but octane didn't care from that moment on octane continued live streaming his incredibly dangerous stunts across various planets like samathi talos and solace however he soon gained a companion in his performances when octane was 11 he asked for a puppy for christmas and three days after christmas his turn of a father had his assistant instead give octane a rabbit which octane named navidad you know christmas in espanol he took the rabbit onto every stunt keeping it in the front pocket of his jacket and the rabbit never flinched navidad eventually died in their sleep which to octane was boring of course so instead he told people that navidad died in a rocket crashing into a planet yeah i think that checks out at some point later on octane heard about a new gauntlet speedrun world record and wanted to beat it now not only is octane stim taken from titanfall 2 but so is the story behind the gauntlet speedrunners in order to complete the gauntlet in around 12 seconds players needed to use well-placed grenades to frag boost themselves through the course faster at the time the world record holder was cash mayo completing the run in 12 seconds flat in octane's record breaker loading screen you can actually see the 11.7 in the background hinting that octane not only lost his legs during this run although they look fine but also beat the record by 0.3 seconds after his legs were ripped off from frank bustin he woke up in the hospital and started talking with lifeline about the situation he says he was just following what that guy in the simvid did and that he wants to ditch the hospital after he gets his new legs instead of waiting to get tested to see if they're even functional he then jokes about funding a jump pad with his trust fund money to jump higher next time before the grenades go off to which uh lifeline then just blocks his phone but he did eventually get some shiny new platinum prosthetic legs which octane will refer to when you reach platinum and ranked but he also says break a leg mine are made of steel so who knows what they're actually made of but as long as they're going fast am i right octane also got a dialysis machine attached to his belt that filters his blood apparently this is why he can suck down fat sims to the chest every other second so let's speed up octane then joins the apex games gets smacked almost every season and then during season seven lifeline gibraltar pathfinder and octane all attend lifeline's parents charity event at a museum to recover an old battery for a marvin pathfinder found on olympus while they're there this dude creighton sawtell and his cronies commit a quick act of terrorism by busting into the place and threatening to kill lifeline's family and everyone at the event if they don't give creighton's boss samathi yeah like literally the whole planet apparently quite the realistic demand there uh creighton but have no fear octane is here he crashes in from the ceiling with lifeline's dock drone attached to a hand statue and rides straight into creighton crushing him against the wall it's later revealed that while octane was in the bathroom dropping a hot deuce prior to the attack he was warned by someone working for his father about the attack and that dwarto was ultimately behind it octane didn't really understand why his dad would attempt to kill 200 of his closest friends and so he keeps it a secret from everyone else but not before he tells the whole story to doc of who apparently recorded the confession and then in season 9 the city of olympus gets attacked by the massive medusa vines that originated from the icarus ship it turns out that on the side of that ship was the silva pharmaceuticals logo and it's theorized that duardo sent the infected ship to olympus with the hope that the legends would find a cure of which he would then steal and mass produce that cure with silver pharmaceuticals for insane profit to save the planet octane then goes to well i don't know probably one of the many mansions his dad owns to confront him on all of this but eduardo instead becomes dismissive towards octane basically telling octane i'm not mad at how you turned out i'm just disappointed he doubles down on his assholery telling his son he will never be the man he hoped he would be and that octane is just a reckless lazy spoiled broken little punk but as the father of the year is about to leave the silva mansion he is stopped by lifeline and her peacekeeper why isn't that a mozambique because she had discovered he was the one that sent the icarus ship but he persuades lifeline to back away from her investigation by revealing that it was octane who scrubbed the name off the icarus nonetheless his name eventually mysteriously reappeared on the ships and when confronted dwardo stated that it's one of the many conspiracies used to distract from the failures of the syndicate and suggests that the syndicate needs new leadership lifeline believes that dwardo is trying to take over the leadership of the syndicate by himself which octane agrees since many of duardo's schemes have attempted to make the syndicate look bad and just for fun but in one of octane's kill quips you need to move faster than that amigo speed is life it's actually a reference to viper from titanfall 2 who has like i don't know five voice lines or whatever and one of them is speed is life which became quite the meme you need to move a little faster than that speed speed speed [Music] and another fun thing is that the tattoo on octane's left arm has a latin phrase plus ultra which translates to further beyond this was the motto of the roman emperor and the king of spain charles v basically saying how he wanted to take the risk and conquer the world beyond the seas additionally octane also says non-terror plus ultra when dropped from the drop ship which means no land further beyond that phrase comes from the supposed inscription on the pillars of hercules in the actual territory of gibraltar not the big dude that we know which way back when was meant to signify there was nothing beyond the strait of gibraltar but danger anyway if you want to
