[Music] iceberg tears are a popular internet phenomenon in which degrees of knowledge of a particular subject are conveyed with an iceberg in which the most commonly well-known titbits are at the top as the tip of the iceberg and way down in the depths are the conspiracy theories and information which may have been suppressed or covered up these have been made for a variety of different topics and so naturally formula one is one of them there have been a few different ones going around but i'm going to use this one from reddit as you can see there is quite a lot here ranging from your everyday meme material at the top to the deepest darkest depths of f1 twitter at the bottom you know me i'm going to do this properly and go through every single one of these statements so buckle up because this could take a while tier one daddy's cash daddy's cash is a parody song made by youtuber simdane in 2018. it points fun at the fact that lance stroll got his seat with williams because his father lawrence is a billionaire and then got a seat with the racing point team which his father had bought a stake in it has close to a million hits and two years later a second rendition was made this time pointing fun at nikita mazapin and his father dimitri's recent investment in hass and nicholas latifi's uninspiring drives at williams being bankrolled by his father michael [Music] indianapolis 2005. i could go on for ages about this but i'll attempt to keep this succinct during friday practice for the 2005 united states grand prix ralph schumacher crashed at the brickyard's famous banking after suffering a left rear tire failure toyota's test driver ricardo zonta took his seat for the remainder of the weekend only for the same thing to happen to him at turn four eyes quickly fell on their tyre supplier michelan who hastily flew in replacement rubber from france that had the same issue the banking at indianapolis had always put a large load on the tyres as the previous year schumacher had suffered a near identical crash at the same place during the race and broken his back since then however the track surface had been repaved of more abrasive grooved tarmac increasing the loads on the tyres even further no other michelin running team suffered any tyre failures and the three bridgestone teams had no such problems at all but it quickly became clear that the tyres were faulty and couldn't survive a race distance as the regulation stipulated that they should in 2005. various attempts were made to rectify or compromise on this such as speed limiting the michelin teams or installing a temporary chicane on the banking paul stoddart of minardi and colin collis of jordan along with all the michelin teams agreed to install a temporary chicane however jean todd of ferrari said no so it didn't go ahead there were then talks of making it a non-championship event and negotiations quickly turned into the michelin teams jordan and menardi versus ferrari bernie ecclestone and the fia but as cash is king the race went ahead as planned all 20 drivers lined up on the grid and at the end of the formation lap the seven michelin teams all pulled into the pit lane leaving just the two ferraris the two jordans and the two minardis to start the race paul stoddart did not want to race but as jordan had decided to themselves he knew he had no choice in the interest of keeping minardi's constructors battle with jordan alive unsurprisingly virtually nothing happened during the race the ferraris of michael schumacher and rubens paraquello stormed ahead and after a close call at term one after schumacher's second pit stop finished first and second the jordans and minardis ran close together in the early laps but they eventually spread out with thiago monteiro finishing third lorraine carter kay in fourth christian albus fifth and patrick friezaker sixth during the race many of the spectators left in droves and those that stayed jeered and heckled across the start finnish straight to the pit lane and threw water bottles and beer cans onto the track a race that should have been counted on safety grounds instead went ahead half-heartedly because money hmm sounds familiar that's radion actually in 2018 wtf1 put out a video in which they asked f1 fans the eternal question where does oorouge end and radion begin each time they pointed to radion and said oorouge tom belligen responded with that's radeon actually [Music] spinala spinala is a slang term coined on reddit in 2019 that is a derivative of the italian spinale which roughly translates as spin it and bin it it was first used in a meme video about the crash gate scandal and it quickly became associated with sebastian vettel and ferrari during his spinning phase das das stands for dual axis steering at pre-season testing in 2020 people quickly noticed on mercedes on-board cameras that lewis hamilton and valtteri bottas appeared to be pulling their steering wheels towards them at the start of long straight and then pushing them back when the braking it came to light that mercedes had developed a system that allowed them to adjust the front wheel's toe angle mid-lap in order to improve stability and top speed on the straights and could also be used to help with tire warming on formation lapses behind the safety car red bull protested this as it was clearly a movable aerodynamic device but because it was mercedes it was banned next season instead of next race 30 years ago i've got another question gentlemen a short view back to the past 30 years ago nikki louder told us take a trach a monkey place him into the cockpit and he is able to drive the car 30 years later sebastian told us i had to start my car like a computer it's very complicated and nico rosberg said he pressed during the race i don't remember what race the wrong button on the wheel question for you to both is formula one driving today too complicated with 20 and more buttons on the wheel are you too much on the effort under pressure what are your wishes for the future concerning the technical program um during the race less buttons more or less and more communication with your engineers can i ask you that questions too who do you want to answer it who's it to he said he said he said it's for nico and myself you didn't listen can you repeat the question it was that or posting the original risking a copyright strike seriously watch the 2014 abu dhabi grand prix driver's press conference the whole thing is just vibes [Music] eriksen hit us roman grosjean was enjoying a strong race at the 2018 azerbaijan grand prix after three races in 2018 he was yet to score any points whereas teammate kevin magnussen had scored 11. he was up to sixth after daniel ricardo and max verstappen took each other out and the safety car was deployed while weaving to warm his tyres he lost control and crashed into the wall between turns 13 and 14 and his race engineer famously said over the radio i think eriksen hits us just grosjean things multi-21 it's the 2013 malaysian grand prix despite starting in fifth mark webber has managed to pass team-mate sebastian vessel during the pit stops and take the lead of the race with red bull controlling the race both drivers are ordered to turn their engines down maintain position and conserve tires vessel however starts taunting webber on the radio and disobeys this order and takes the lead on lap 46 after they twice nearly touch webber tries and fails to take the lead back the following lap and vettel goes on to win in the cooldown room after the race a furious weber exclaims to vettel multi 21 sieb multi 21 referring to the code name for the order to maintain position with the numbers being their driver numbers in the aftermath vettel initially apologized to weber and the team but then recanted this at the next race and much later it was revealed that this move was revenge for weber pushing vettel into the wall at the start of the 2012 brazilian grand prix compromising vessels start and causing him to be hit and spun round by bruno senna almost costing him the championship this was the final nail in the coffin for rebels number two driver who retired at the end of the season tier two fernando is faster than you it's the 2010 german grand prix felipe massa who starts third passed his teammate fernando alonso and paul sit a sebastian vessel at the start to take the lead of the race massa is controlling the lead of alonzo close behind until lap 48 where masters race engineer rob smedley calmly says to him over the radio ok so fernando is faster than you can you confirm you understood that message and so alonso who was 25 points ahead of master in the championship not so subtly passes him on the following lap and takes the win at the time team orders were banned and despite ferrari's denial they were fooling no one so the faa found them guilty of breaching article 39.1 of the sporting regulations and they were fined one hundred thousand dollars but the results stood and team orders were then eventually legalized again hass is last year's ferrari since their first appearance in 2016 haas have shared a close working relationship with ferrari their cars are principally built by dalara but they run ferrari engines gearboxes and suspension their 2018 car the vf-18 caught people's attention both in pre-season testing and during practice for the season opening australia grand prix as its lap times were far better than their previous two cars and it bore a strong superficial resemblance to ferrari's 2017 title contending car the accusations of using a customer card were dismissed by team principal gunther steiner never formally came to anything and the car was nowhere near ferrari's pace anyway nico hulkenberg's zero podiums mr super sub has the unenviable record in formula one of most race starts without a podium in his 181 starts he has finished fourth three times but has never quite been able to do one better despite having several opportunities he took a sensational pole position in the reign in brazil in 2010 as a rookie in a midfield williams but dropped down to eighth in the race at belgium in 2012 he survived the first lap chaos and was running as high as second but eventually dropped behind the red bulls of mark webber and sebastian vettel a few races later in brazil he stormed through in the race's early stages and took the lead in the reign after a mid-race safety car he lost the lead to lewis hamilton but slid into him when trying to take it back at term one and was given a drive-through penalty and finished fifth he qualified third at the italian grand prix in 2013 but dropped a fifth in the race at monaco in 2016 he qualified fifth and jumped up to the third at the start of the race but got caught in traffic after pitting and it was teammate sergio perez who finished third he started second in austria but had a poor start and then lost the breaks he got up to second early on at spa but ended up finishing fourth he once again drove strongly in the reign in brazil but picks up a puncture and finished seventh at singapore in 2017 he got up to third after sebastian vessel handed the title to lewis hamilton on a plate but a badly timed safety car dropped into fifth and he then retired with an oil leak and at a wet hockenheim ring in 2019 he peaked at second and was running in fourth when he slid across the drag strip runoff at the final corner and into the barriers blown diffuser after the raw changes in 2009 there followed several years of speculation and gossip about different team's diffuser designs braun williams and toyota all had a double diffuser in 2009 which was legal but miffed the other teams because they hadn't thought of it first red bull and mclaren ran their own double diffusers in 2010 and then placed the exhaust immediately in front of it creating a double blown diffuser drastically increasing downforcement on the power and then after double diffusers were banned red bull went one better in 2011 with an off throttle exhaust flow diffuser by manipulating the engine maps they were able to keep exhaust gases flowing over the diffuser pretty much constantly mclaren as well as several other teams tried to copy this though not particularly effectively or came up with their own failed ideas such as lotus sereno's forward-facing exhausts at the british grand prix off-throttle diffusers were banned which allowed the non-exhaust blown ferrari of fernando alonso to win the race they were then reinstated however but banned outright in 2012 though this didn't stop different teams coming up with creative alternatives tracing point when the new racing point team unveiled their 2020 challenger its near perfect resemblance to the previous year's championship winning mercedes was hard to ignore racing point were already a customer team of mercedes and the car quickly got the nickname tracing point renault decided to protest the car's brake duct design claiming it was the same as mercedes the fia agreed and fined racing point four hundred thousand dollars and deducted fifteen constructors points but they could keep the car which while not a front runner was clearly the fastest midfielder that year and would have finished third in the constructors championship without the points deduction crashgate so it's the inaugural singapore grand prix in 2008 formula one's first ever night race felipe massa is leading the race with title rival lewis hamilton in second fernando alonso in 11th is the first driver to piss on nap 12 for fuel and rejoins in 20th and last two laps later his teammate nelson pique jr crashes at turn 17 which brings the safety car out the pit lane is temporarily closed and after it's open most of the bunched up field pit for ties and fuel in the chaos massa exits his pit box with the fuel hose still attached and alonso is now up to fifth amongst those other drivers who hadn't pitted and those that were forced to pick when the pit lane was closed in order to not run out of fuel drive through penalties for nico rosberg and robert kubitsu move alonzo up to third and during the next pit stop phase he takes the lead and goes on to win his first race of the year fast forward 10 months and formula 1 has largely forgotten about this race until pk gets fired from reno due to his poor performances and during the summer break then reveals that he was asked by managing director flavio briatori and executive director of engineering pat simmons to deliberately crash after alonzo had pitted for fuel in order to bring out the safety car and give him track position the world motorsport council charged the team with race fixing briatori and simmons left renault and the team were given a disqualification from formula one suspended for two years briatori and simmons were given indefinite bans from formula one which were later redacted and simmons has since been a consultant for a few teams but briatori has not returned tier three benetton traction control in the late 1980s formula one went through a period of incredibly rapid technological development which culminated in 1992 and 1993 with the all-conquering williams fw 14b and fw15c which had traction control launch control abs active suspension and onboard telemetry amongst others most of these electronic aims were banned in 1994 and williams new car the fw16 was virtually unchanged from the fw15c but without the driver aids it depended on so heavily ayat senna had signed with the team and got polled in brazil but lost the lead to the benetton michael schumacher in the pit stops and then later uncharacteristically spun off he took pole again at okiyama but was passed by schumacher at the start and then taken out at term one he decided to sit by the side of the track for the first part of the race as he was convinced beniton was still using traction control which he deduced from the sound of the engine reps when going through the corner after senna's death formal investigations were made by the fia as the other teams could not understand how such an underpowered and twitchy car could be so dominant they found evidence of launch control systems but not traction control and as they had no evidence the launch control was actively being used the investigation was dropped jensen button is the wet weather goat jensen button had a very distinctive smooth driving style which while it didn't always make him the fastest driver over one lap and meant he was very setup dependent did mean he was easy on the tyres and excelled in changeable conditions his first win came in the reign in hungary in 2006. he'd already qualified fourth in dry conditions in qualifying but was demoted to 14th because of an engine change he made massive gains in the opening laps and was up to fourth by lap seven after the safety car came out mid-race he decided to stay out to gain track position and was running in second behind fernando alonso a looser wheel nut alonso's next pit stop put him out of the race and button remained unchallenged and won by 30 seconds from pedro dela rosa he qualified a surprising sixth in the reign at fuji the following year in a far less competitive car but collided with nick heidfeld early on in the race and dropped down and later retired he redeemed this in the following round in shanghai though and finished fifth at sepang in 2009 once again in a competitive car he started third in dry conditions but it got into the lead by the time the rain started falling it quickly became torrential and the race was red flagged and he was given the win with less than 75 percent of the race distance completed he qualified fourth at the australian grand prix in 2010 after a shaky start in the reign he dropped a sixth and then made an early stop for dry tyres on lap 7 when the track was still wet most of the other drivers shortly followed and he moved up to second sebastian vettel retired on lap 26 which gave him the lead and he took the win on 52 lappole tyres his day of days came at the canadian grand prix in 2011 he qualified seventh and a few laps after the safety car came in he was hit by teammate lewis hamilton which brought out the safety car again he pitted for intermediate tires and was then given a drive-through penalty for speeding which dropped into 15th the race was red flagged on lock 24 with him now in 10th after pitting for full wets and remained that way for over two hours after the race resumed boston pitted for intermediate tyres and then hit fernando alozzo at turned three on his outlap and beached him on the curbs he got a puncture and the safety car was brought out again and he dropped to 21st and last he then rapidly moved through the field and was up to fourth after pitting for slicks he passed mark webber and michael schumacher at the same time on lap 65 and then started chasing down sebastian vettel he set the fastest lap on lap 69 and then on the final lap vettel ran wide at turn six which gave him the lead and the win having been last at one point and been through the pit lane six times he qualified second at the brazilian grand prix in 2012 and after deciding to stay out when the rain started falling early on stormed ahead along with nico hulkenberg both getting a minute ahead of the rest of the field he lost second place to lewis hamilton hotter a mid-race safety car but re-inherited the lead when hamilton hulkenberg collided reign fell again in the final 10 laps and button took the final win of his career spygate stepney was one of the key figures during ferrari's success in the early 2000s being chief mechanic and then race and test technical manager in early 2007 he expressed his unhappiness with the internal restructuring of the team following ross braun's departure and wished to seek a new challenge but was instead made head of performance development meaning he no longer had to attend races in the summer ferrari made a formal complaint against stephanie claiming he'd been selling ferrari parts to other teams and he was then sacked ferrari then took legal action against both himself and mclaren engineer mike coughlin who after a search warrant of his home was found to have been in possession of 780 pages of confidential ferrari technical data which had been photocopied by his wife at a photocopying shop in woking with ferrari then being tipped off by an employee there mclaren themselves were unaware of this and after an investigation found no evidence that the stolen technical data had influenced their car's design and submitted full technical blueprints of the mp422 to the fia to prove this nevertheless in a world motorsport council hearing they were found guilty of breaching article 151c of the international sporting code but no punishment was levied as there was no evidence they had actively used the data a couple of months later the case was reopened after bernie ecclestone was sent emails which contained correspondence between coughlin and mclaren drivers fernando alonso lewis hamilton and pedro delarosa all three drivers were given immunity from prosecution in exchange for their full cooperation but mclaren themselves were then excluded from the constructors championship and were fined 100 million dollars the largest fine in sporting history in 2010 stephanie was given a 600 pound fine and sentenced to one year and eight months in prison but never served any time and then walked in front of traffic four years later ferrari cheat engine ferrari had a fairly rough start to 2019 with sebastian vessel at the helm they had twice failed to topple mercedes in the previous two seasons and early on it became clear they no longer had the car to challenge them even with the addition of charles claire to the team a certain win at bahrain for leclaire was taken away by engine troubles and after that they found themselves closer on pace to red bull the mercedes culminating at hungary where they finished a whole minute behind winner lewis hamilton after the summer break however things started to change they locked out the front row at spa with massive advantages in the low downforce first and third sectors and leclaire went on to win with vettel in fourth at monza leclair got pole again with vessel 4th and survived numerous failed attempts by hamilton and valtteri bottas to pass him with drs to take his second win whereas vettel spun early on and finished outside the points leclair took his third consecutive pole position in singapore but it was vettel who ended up winning the race after undercutting him in the pit stops leclair took pole again in sochi vettel who started third took the lead at the start and later retired and triggered a virtual safety car which gave hamilton the lead and the win it was vettel that got pole at suzuka with leclair in second vettel however almost jumped the start and declared collided with max verstappen at turn two which meant vettel finished second to bottas and leclaire was sixth leclair and vettel qualified second and third in mexico city but a penalty for verstappen moved them onto the front row both drivers lost out to mercedes in the pit stops however and finished second and fourth it was hard for the other teams to ignore the fact that ferrari had gone from having the third fastest car to taking six consecutive pole positions and three wins all on power-dependent tracks with long straights red bull suspected that they were using a device that bypassed the power unit's mandatory fuel flow sensor and went to the faa for clarification the fia confirmed that this was illegal and from the united states grand prix onwards ferrari's pace returned to normal and they got no further pole positions or wins at the end of preseason testing in 2020 the fia announced that after a formal investigation they had concluded that ferrari's 2019 power unit was in fact illegal but decided not to prosecute them and settled the metal privately but have yet to expose exactly how hamilton 2007 crane assistance so it's the 2007 european grand prix being held at the nurburgring in germany the track is dry but dark clouds are forming overhead debutant markers fingerhock pits for intermediate ties at the end of the formation lap but all other drivers start the race on slicks rain starts falling immediately and by sector two drivers are spinning and running wide lewis hamilton who qualified a disappointing tenth gets up to sixth at the start but then gets a puncture from a spinning robert kubitza at turn two and drops to the back and then pits for intermediate ties at the end of the first lap along with almost everyone else the rain quickly becomes torrential and a river forms at turn one causing genting bottom to lock up there on lap 3 and slide into the gravel trap hamilton then does the same thing he's quickly followed by adrian still nico rosberg and scott speed all of whom beat their cars in the gravel and then anthony davidson who stops just short of the gravel and reverses back out and carries on the safety car is then deployed antonio luetzi also goes off there and narrowly misses the safety car itself and lightly touches the recovery crane button satile rosberger speed and lightsee all switch their cars off and walk away hamilton however keeps his engine running and gestures to the recovery crate to put him back on the circuit and he carries on one lap down on new race leader winklehawk in 17th and last two laps later the race is red flagged and when it's restarted he goes on to finish outside the points for the first time in his formula one career hamilton tweeting data after his first title triumph lewis hamilton's remaining years at mclaren became known as his zombie years due to several crashes collisions of other drivers and generally inconsistent performances he was beaten by teammate jensen busting in 2011 and had a troubled start to 2012. he got three third place finishes in a row two of which were from pole and in bahrain dropped from third to eighth after two botched pit stops he got pole at the next round in barcelona but the car ran out of fuel on his in-lap after a mechanic accidentally drained the tank when he was meant to fill it and he was disqualified and started at the back at the belgian grand prix he qualified seventh eight tenths behind button who was on pole both drivers are running different configurations with button using a new low downforce rear wing in his anger lewis attempted to explain the gap in pace by tweeting screenshots of confidential mclaren telemetry data comparing his and button's lap times and also giving away sensitive information such as ride heights he was ordered by the team to immediately take the tweets down in the race he was taken out by roman version at term one while bottom went on to win and three weeks later hamilton announced he was moving to mercedes for 2013. tier four now we're starting to transition away from objective historical facts into more conspiratorial territory lie gate in the closing stages of the 2009 australian grand prix sebastian vettel and robert cubits are collided while battling for second place and the safety car was deployed lewis hamilton and jano truly were promoted to third and fourth and truly ran off the road and was passed by hamilton hamilton then slowed down to let him back through to take the final podium spot after the race truly received a 25 second time penalty for overtaking behind the safety car and dropped to 12th hamilton initially said the team had ordered him to literally pass but then behind closed doors told the stewards no such order was given and that truly had consciously passed him himself a few days later hamilton and truly were summoned to a stewards hearing hamilton mclaren continued to deny that any orders were given though an audio recording of this happening was played back and as they had misled the stewards hamilton was disqualified mclaren was stripped of their constructors points and truly was reinstated in third place the following day mclaren sporting director dave ryan was sacked as he was the one who had instructed hamilton to lie 2003 tire changes in 2002 michael schumacher tied with juan manuel fangio to win his fifth driver's title and a third consecutive one having finished on the podium in every single race that year ferrari had also won their fourth consecutive constructors title with almost two and a half times the points of runners-up williams such sustained dominance had never been seen before and 2002 had been full of forgettable races so rule changes are brought in to close the field up such as one lap qualifying and awarding points for the top eight instead of the top six schumacher had a trouble to start to 2003 but then got three consecutive polls and wins after this however ferrari's bridgestone tyres began to suffer with the onset of a europe-wide heat wave he won only one of the next seven races and there were five other different winners four of which were running michelin tyres after the hungarian grand prix there were just two points between schumacher juan pablo montoya and kimi raikkonen at this point however ferrari and bridgestone protested that michelan's tyres appear to deform beyond the maximum tread width during races and so they were forced to design narrower tyres which took away williams and mclaren's competitive edge schumacher won the next two races while reichen finished fourth and second and montoya's second and sixth at the final round in japan schumacher qualified 14th and climbed up to eighth montoya was now out of the title fight and raikkonen qualified 7th are in his second behind schumacher's teammate rubens barrichello but schumacher still won his record-breaking sixth driver's title by two points despite winning six races to raikkonen's one and montoya's 2. f2 isn't equal ok so not about formula 1 specifically but still formula 1 adjacent now formula 2 like all other feeder formulas is a spec series meaning all drivers and teams run the same cars which in formula 2's case is the dalara f2 2018 with a mecha chrome v6 turbo engine and pirelli tyres after that it's down to the mechanics and the drivers to extract what they can out of it considering all drivers are using the same car and the drivers are supposed to be the next best in the world outside of formula one you would expect near identical lap times but the gaps can sometimes be as big as they are in formula one and are often divided down team lines driving for prema in any series is basically a free ticket to the championship as they have a large budget and access to the best mechanics who know how to set the car up and can afford most spare parts and replace components when they're worn out whereas a team like trident have consistently been at the back within teams there can be discrepancies though as well in jaehan deruvula's first year in formula 2 in 2020 with front-running team karlin he was initially struggling just to score points whereas teammate yuki sunoda was getting pole positions and podiums he was suffering at high speed circuits with long straights and complained that his engine was down on power after getting a new engine at monza he scored points in all but two of the remaining races and won the final one marcus armstrong art grand prix suffered that year as well he scored two points in the first two rounds but then went on a run of 12 races of no points complaining of chassis issues and ultimately scored just a third of the points of teammate christian lungard red bull rigged max to win in spain 2016. after daniel caveat crashed into sebastian vettel twice in two corners at sochi in 2016 and inadvertently punted vettel into teammate daniel ricardo at the same time the decision was made by helmut marco to demote him back to toro rosso and bump up max verstappen to red bull early after greatly impressing them in his debut 2015 year at the next round in barcelona verstappen qualified fourth behind new team met ricardo with the two mercedes unsurprisingly on the front row hamilton and rosberg took each other out to turn four at the start which meant for the first time in about three years we had an actual race on our hands ricardo inherited the lead with verstappen now in second followed by his former teammate carla science who had jumped to the ferraris of sebastian vettel and kimi raikkonen after the safety car came in ricardo and verstappen built up a lead over sites but after vettel and ryken had passed him that lead was quickly eroded verstappen remained on his planned two-stop strategy whereas ricardo was put on a three-stop as they knew ferrari's long-run pace was strong ferrari employed a similar strategy with raiken and on a two-stop and vessel on a three-stop they all made their first stops around the same time all switching from soft tires to mediums ricardo and vettel made their second stops within one lap of one another from first and third for a short stint on soft tyres six laps later verstappen and riker then pitted for a long second final stint on medium tires and rejoined behind both of them with ricardo back in the lead vettel then made his third stop only two laps later in an attempt to undercut ricardo and dropped a fourth seven laps later ricardo made his third stop from six seconds in front of verstappen and rejoined in fourth behind both ferraris raikkonen closed up to verstappen in the final stint and ricardo close up to vettel despite their fresh attires neither riken and nor ricardo were able to make any moves on verstappen and vettel respectively ricardo then got a puncture on the penultimate lap and pitted again but remained fourth whereas verstappen went on to take his maiden win on his debut with red bull and become the youngest race winner in formula one history ricardo was not impressed with this strategy decision as ferrari's struggles on the medium tyre showed that on a two-stop strategy he could have maintained position and won the race and it is customary for the leading driver in the team to get priority on strategy this coupled with the fact that ricardo had come into the team and usurped vettel and a few years later was then himself used to fight verstappen led to conspiracy theories that they had deliberately put him out of contention to have the fairy sales story of the staff of winning on his debut which there would have been no consideration of until hamilton and rosberg took each other out and it would have been a four-way fight for the final podium spot if they did intentionally rig the race result then they did it in a far more subtle and far less illegal fashion than reno did at singapore in 2008 red bull's second seat is cursed continuing on from that verstappen and ricardo remained teammates for the next three seasons they struggled with massive reliability issues in 2017 which mostly affected verstappen in 2018 these reliability issues continued verstappen made several costly errors early on but after ricardo's victory in monaco he never saw the podium again whereas verstappen did 10 times and won two races and ricardo also suffered six mechanical retirements during the summer break he shocked both the team and the f1 world by opting out of his contract and signing with renault for 2019 a far less competitive team who were also supplying red bull with their power units that had been the source of so many of their problems in his place tora rosso driver pierre gasly was promoted early to his seat despite his impressive drive to toro rosso it was immediately clear he was not gelling with the car in their time as teammates verstappen never finished outside the top five won two races and was battling closely with ferrari and mercedes whereas ghazali was often more than a second slower than him in qualifying and only once finished higher than fifth which meant red bull were massively trading mercedes and ferrari in the constructors championship by the time of the summer break verstappen was third in the standings of 181 points ahead of both ferraris and gasly was sixth on 63 points at this point helmut marco decided to demote him back to toro rosso and bumped up rookie alex alborn to the seat instead of the tried and tested daniel caveat in the second half of the year album was closer to the shepherd's place than gasly was but was still quite far off he finished top six in each race but never saw the podium except for in brazil where he was on course for second until being spun round by lewis hamilton gasly on the other hand after returning to toro rosso was able to more or less match the results he got with red bull in a far less competitive car and profited off of hamilton and albums fracas to into lagos to finish at that time a career best second album and gazley remained in their respective seats in 2020 verstappen was on the podium in all but one race he finished that year spending the whole year staring at mercedes defuser and won two races alwan however was on the podium only twice and was frequently scrapping with upper midfield teams such as racing point and ferrari when he should have been finishing fourth as a minimum in each race gasly now driving for the renamed alpha towery was regularly matching and beating him and won his first race at monza album finished the year with less than half the points of verstappen and in 2021 he was pushed back to a reserve role with a drive for red bull in dtm to keep him occupied and his seat was taken by sergio perez who unlike ghazian album was not a red bull junior but was a seasoned racer and one of the most experienced drivers on the grid the stakes for the team were raised further in 2021 as now they had a car capable of beating mercedes so both titles were on the line the chaplain finished first or second in all but one race where he saw the chequered flag and eventually took the driver's title whereas pedes took on a similar trend to gassy and albon he was closer on both qualifying and race pace to verstappen than they were but was still routinely behind mercedes and he would frequently have poor race start and fail to adequately recover from this and be sacrificed to take the fastest lap point away from them there were races however where he did perform equal to the task he was running with verstappen the whole way at baku protecting him against mercedes and eventually won after verstappen's tire blowout and hamilton's break magic blunder he finished third in france and was a constant presence able to support verstappen and keep mercedes on their toes from turkey onwards he performed far better he acted as a mobile roadblock for hamilton there added his home race chased him down the entire time and almost took second from him he made a valiant but futile defense once again into lagos then at the season finale in abu dhabi he stayed out on old tires and put on one of the greatest defensive drives in formula one history against hamilton on brand new tyres and held him up for two laps and brought his lead over verstappen down from 11 seconds to one second at the halfway mark of 2022 he's been closer than any other time and for a brief period looked like a title contender but is beginning to fade away again as verstappen storms his way to inevitable second title all three of these drivers had the same complaint that the red bull car is twitchy and difficult to adjust to the entire team and the car itself are built around verstappen in the same way that they previously were with ricardo and vettel gasly and album were both young relatively inexperienced and have both come up through the red bull junior program both their promotions were considered premature as they were triggered by ricardo's unexpected departure they were up against the one in the generation talent that is verstappen so they weren't expected to beat him but they were still far off what the car could do meaning they forced the shaping to fight on his own against both ferraris and both mercedes and cost the team a lot of constructors points since leaving the team gasly has flourished once again with alpha towery with particularly strong performances in qualifying alborn has only just returned to formula 1 but proved in his strong drive to 10th in the mediocre williams in australia that he's no slouch perez is a bit different due to his age and experience he's behind the chapel on pace but not by nearly as much and has gradually got better and better over time and is beginning to become the wingman verstappen has always wanted and needed tier 5 sean galile mystery crash for those that don't know sean galile is an indonesian driver currently racing in the world endurance championship and one of josh revel's favorite punching bags before that he spent several years in both gp2 and formula 2 and got several friday practice seats with toro rosso he was able to do this despite producing mediocre results because his father is the owner of the indonesian branch of kfc in his fourth and final year in formula 2 in 2020 he was driving for dams with dan ticton as his teammate after the first four rounds he'd scored just three points to titum's 59 on the final lap of the feature race at catalunya he lost control breaking for turn 12 caught a sausage curb and slid sideways with the front tyres up in the air and hit jack aiken when he landed he'd broken his back and missed the sprint race as well as the next four rounds the only mystery element i can think of for this is that it wasn't shown in the original broadcast despite being a non-fatal serious accident that was later seen very briefly in the background of another shot it could have been led by the faa trying to suppress criticism of sausage curbs as the previous year in formula 3 at monza alex peroni caught one that had been placed on the exit of the parabolica a high-speed corner and was launched several feet into the air and landed in the catch fencing and also broke his back bar's second fuel tank bar had enjoyed a strong 2004 where between them jensen busan and takuma sato achieved 11 podium finishes but no wins and what runs up to the all-conquering ferrari in the constructors championship they struggled at the start of 2005 with three double retirements at imola button qualified third and soto sixth and they finished in third and fifth respectively in park ferme after the race button's car was found to be five kilograms underweight when drained of fuel the car had a hidden second fuel tank which could store up to 11 kilograms of fuel the stewards cleared them as bar insisted the car needed at least 6 kilograms of fuel in the system to be able to work and thought the minimum weight rule applied during the race only but they were taken to caught by the fia and bus nosata were both disqualified and banned from the next two races as they were effectively using fuel as ballast fia president max mosey wanted them excluded from the championship but they were instead given a far more lenient six-month suspended sentence magnuson was a 2014 title contender upon seeing this i thought it was some kind of retrospective declaration but when googling it i found that it was more than after finished his second on his debut kevin magnussen thought that he would then be fighting for the championship that of course never happened that podium finish remains the only one of his formula one career he scored points at most of the remaining races in 2014 and finished 11th in their standings with 55 points behind teammate jensen busted an eighth of 126 and far behind eventual champion lewis hamilton with 384 caviat is the best driver on the grid um not really sure what to say here if you want to convince yourself he's the best driver on the grid despite no longer being on the grid then go ahead but the way his career crashed and burned really does not hold up to that mercedes gave lotus party mode at spa 2015. it goes without saying that since the advent of the hybrid era mercedes have produced the best power units both in power and reliability when needed mostly in qualifying they've been able to crank the power up to what's informally referred to as party mode this was most notably demonstrated on lewis hamilton's car into longest in 2021 where he went from 20th to 5th in the sprint race and 10th to 1st in the main race after a year of suffering with inadequate renault engines in 2014 lotus switched to mercedes power for 2015. the car's reliability was still a far cry from mercedes but most of the team's non-finishes came from roman grosjean and pastor maldonado's fetishes for crashing they still scored points almost every time they finished though and at spa grosjean managed to qualify fourth at maldonado eighth though grosjean was demoted to ninth for a gearbox change maldonado's engine died on the third lap but grosjean got lucky by being able to time his second stop with a virtual safety car after daniel ricardo retired and he came out in fourth having got ahead during the first two stints of felipe massa valerie bottas and sergio perez all of whom had mercedes engines of their own in the dying laps he closed up to the ferrari sebastian vettel who was on a one-stop strategy and running a very long second stint who then had a tyre blowout on the peloton lap which handed third place to grosjean at the time vettel was 21 points behind nico rosberg in the standings and 42 points behind lewis hamilton his tyre blowout all but destroyed any chances he still had of challenging them for the title and it was triggered partially by running a very long second stint and also the pressure from the uncharacteristically fast loaders of roman grosjean two years later lotus's ceo at the time matthew carter revealed on the miss apex podcast that mercedes had given the team their famed party modes during the race in order to allow him to challenge vessel for the final podium spot from lap 30 groton's lap time suddenly dropped and he rapidly caught up to vettel he didn't know what was going on just that the cast suddenly felt better and mercedes never declared the full nature of the engine mode and never allowed lotus to use it again mercedes 2019 testing pre-season testing is an interesting time in the formula one calendar it's the first time the cars are seen out on track and gives the first indications of what to expect from each team across the year lap times are best taken with a pinch of salt as it's not known what fuel levels and engine modes the teams are running and they will often deliberately try and hide their true pace from their rivals in 2019 simplified front and rear wings were mandated in order to try and shake up the running order and help the cars follow each other easier and improve the racing mercedes had just achieved their fifth consecutive constructors title and lewis hamilton had just achieved his fifth driver's title beating ferrari and sebastian vettel respectively in the process during the two preseason tests at barcelona mercedes were consistently setting some of the slowest lap times whereas ferrari were routinely at the front they brought a heavily revised car to the second test and it wasn't until the final day when the teams often do quasi-qualifying runs the hamilton set the second fastest time behind vettel there was speculation that they were just sandbagging but also those that thought that maybe they had dropped the ball with the new regulations and ferrari would be the pacesetters this idea was quickly destroyed at the first race in australia however when they locked out the front row got five one-two finishes in a row and won the first eight races having apparently built a car that was even faster than their previous ones 2012 williams was a championship capable car i haven't found anything online about people openly declaring this but i'll entertain the idea the 2012 season saw some incredibly close fighting between nine of the 12 teams competing that year with seven different winners in the first seven races one of which was pastor maldonado of williams maldonado and teammate bruno cena struggled in the first four races they mostly qualified in the midfield and between them they got five non-finishes but scored points every time they did finish at the fifth round in barcelona cena was eliminated in q1 and qualified a slightly disappointing 17th whereas maldonado stunned everyone by putting his car on the front row alongside lewis hamilton hammond's car ran out of fuel on his in-lap and he was later disqualified and sent to the back giving maldonado pole position early on in the race cena was hit at term one first by roman groshan and then michael schumacher the following lap which took him out of the race maldonado lost the leader fernando willotto at the start but then trailed him throughout the first two stints and then undercut him after their second stops alonso and kimi raikkonen both closed up to him in the final stint but he held them off to take his first win and williams first in eight years they were however unable to maintain this form senna only got into q3 once across the european leg but did score a handful of points maldonado on the other hand didn't score any points in the next nine races despite the fact he advanced into q3 in almost every race and started third in valencia and second in singapore he was involved in collisions with other drivers in five of the nine races including penalizing his way to the back row at the next race in monaco and rear ending pedro de la rosa at san devo and losing third place of the collision with hamilton on the final lap in valencia in the remaining six races he outscored cena but with only 16 points to send us six they finished 15th and 16th in the drivers championship and williams finished eighth in the constructors championship by my calculations maldonado could have potentially doubled his points all without his crashes subsequent grid penalties and occasional reliability problems but even so he would have finished no higher than eighth or ninth in the standings and williams would have been sixth at best in the driver's standings so no this car was not a championship contender ts6 and now we're pretty much completely in conspiracy theory territory baroque hello star of david in 1995 rubens marico decided to modify the design of his helmet and added a five-pointed star to the top after someone said to him someone in the sky is looking at you and so it became a symbol of good luck for him in mid-2009 it was noted that this had become a six-pointed star giving it a superficial resemblance to the star of david from judaism there is speculation on rumors online that barack hello had a jewish grandfather from italy but barack hello eventually clarified that he is not jewish and like most brazilians is a devout catholic but also a spiritualist and saw it as a good luck symbol and a source of his energy and not specifically the star of david will smith won the 2018 abu dhabi grand prix will smith certainly attended the 2018 grabber derby grand prix as a guest of mercedes and did basically everything you can short of driving in the race such as attending the driver's parade waving the emirati flag on the starting grid operating a trackside camera waving the checkered flag and slapping chris roth on the morning of the race mercedes posted a video on instagram of smith tying lewis hamilton to a chair in an attempt to steal his car racing his place then posted a video of them taking him away after trying to get into the car despite these pre-race antics hamilton still comfortably won the race i guess this fits the bill of a conspiracy theory though i can't find anyone online who actually believes it carlos science doesn't exist yes he does moving on ralph was the fastest schumacher no he wasn't moving on russell never had a puncture now this is a conspiracy theory i could definitely get on board with after the 2020 bahrain grand prix lewis hamilton tested positive for kobe 19 and so was forced to miss the upcoming sakia grand prix held at the same circuit in his place came williams driver george russell who many expected to move to mercedes before long anyway getting the opportunity of a lifetime the mercedes overalls and shoes were ill-fitting to his six foot one frame but despite that he still qualified second less than three hundredths behind teammate valtteri bottas in a car which he driven for the first time barely 24 hours prior when the lights went out on sunday russell had the better start and took the lead at term one he stormed away through the next few corners until leclair and verstappen's collision at turn 4 brought the safety car out after the race resumed he built up a commanding lead on that 61 jack aitkin who had taken russell's seat at williams spun at the final corner and broke his front wing off triggering a second virtual safety car when this became a full safety car mercedes decided to do one of their famous double stacks radio miscommunications meant russell was sent out on bottas's tires bottas was then stuck in the pit box for the next 30 seconds before being sent back out on the same tires he'd came in on russell then pitted again the following lap for his tyres which left bottas fourth and russell fifth after the race restarted russell aggressively passed bottas on his much fresher tires and then easily chased down lance stroll and esteban ocon who was still on old tires he went after sergio perez for the lead but was told on lap 79 that he had a left rear puncture one that he had not noticed and needed to pit again he did so and rejoined his 14th and climbed his way up to ninth and set the fastest lap finishing behind bottas who dropped to eighth on his old tyres this was the first race that hamilton had missed in his entire formula one career and he hastily returned for the season finale in abu dhabi having clearly not fully recovered from kovid and struggled his way to third behind bottas and max verstappen and russell returned to his williams hobbit hole now we get into conspiracy theory territory russell is one of the stars of the future and at this time there had been numerous calls to give him the second mercedes seat for 2021 instead of bottas as everyone was desperate to see him in a competitive car how he'd fare up against a seven-time champion and if he would be less submissive and compliant than bottas in this one-off drive he massively exceeded everyone's expectations and without the safety car disruptions would have comfortably won the race in what could be seen as essentially a duel for the second seat with bottas had he won he would have not only humiliated bottas but also threatened hamilton's status and reputation by essentially replicating a typical hamilton performance in a car he'd never driven before mercedes have often been a bit touch and go when it comes to race strategies and pit stops but are usually able to get away with it by being so much faster than everyone else putting the wrong tyres on the wrong car is something they'd never done before and i can't recall any other team having done this despite that once again the car was fast enough for them to get away with it as george looked set to win anyway and then got a puncture he didn't know he had one and if it was caused by debris it apparently just affected him admittedly when it comes to slow punctures that's something the driver themselves may not notice despite the enormous strains the tyres are put under but it would appear straight away on the telemetry down at the pit wall this happened late enough in the race to destroy any chance of victory though he still gained five places back and finally scored points in the most anticlimactic and disheartening way possible naturally everyone hoped he could try again in abu dhabi but hamilton appeared all too desperate to return even though it was the final race of the season and he'd already secured the title mercedes had already wrapped up both titles by the time of sakia so once they realized russell was going to win who hamilton would naturally have seen as a threat they could get away with some low-grade sabotage and not lose anything in the long run they've never come close to doing anything like that pit stop blunder before or since which is something which a team that prides itself on professionalism and the strife of perfection should know better than once russell had barged his way past bottas again and it was clear he was still going to win then comes the phantom puncture completely taking him out of contention once and for all russell of course now isn't mercedes and guess what he's beating hamilton mika sallo leaking steward penalties mikhail sallo is a retired racing driver who competed in formula 1 from 1994-2002 like many other retired drivers he has acted as a driver steward and was called up to do so with the 2020 russian grand prix before the start of the race pulsated lewis hamilton performed two practice starts outside of the designated area at the end of the pit lane and just before the start of the formation lap it was announced that he was under investigation for this when this appeared on screen lead commentator for finnish broadcaster seymour nikki usayla said that they were expecting him to get two five second time penalties and ten minutes later it was announced that this was what the steward had awarded him this led to speculation that sarlo who had frequently commentated alongside you sailor had been leaking stewarding decisions to him in advance of their official announcement which was not helped by a screenshot of salo in the stewarding room with his mobile phone on the table in front of him both men naturally denied that this has taken place hamilton and sertilla are in a relationship now this is an interesting one and something i've partially covered in a previous video lewis hamilton and adrian statilde were teammates in the formula 3 euros series in 2005 and developed a close friendship which continued when they both entered formula 1 in 2007. at a nightclub after the chinese grand prix in 2011 cetil got in a fight with lotus ceo eric lux and stabbed him in the neck with a broken champagne glass at the start of 2012 he went on trial for this and was found guilty of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and was given an 18-month suspended prison sentence and also lost his seat at force india hamilton was at the nightclub and witnessed the fight and was called to testify as a witness but declined as the trial date coincided with the launch of mclaren's 2012 car he offered to testify if the date was moved but statill still branded him a coward and ended their friendship the rumors slash speculation that they were in a romantic relationship are based on pretty flimsy evidence for several years hamilton was in an on-off relationship with nicole schertzinger and allegedly had a fling with rihanna amongst many other high society celebrities no doubt sattile has largely hidden away from the public spotlight since leaving formula one in 2015 and has been in a long-term relationship with jennifer becks for several years and before that dated julia lesson most of the speculation about hamilton's sexuality comes from his colorful fashion sense his extended periods as a bachelor and his outspoken support for lgbt rights satiles comes from him declaring early on in his career that he wasn't looking for a girlfriend and this video from canada in 2008 there were unconfirmed reports that cetille attacked eric lux because he threw homophobic abuse at him and hamilton did not take the stand to avoid outing both himself and satile in the unlikely event that they are slash have been in a romantic relationship they've done a very good job of hiding it tier vii alonzo winter testing 2015 crash on the third day of pre-season testing on barcelona in 2015 fernando alonso who would return to mclaren for the first time after his acrimonious departure seven and a half years prior crashed into the inside wall at turned three and was knocked unconscious he was airlifted to hospital and remained in intensive care for two nights and ultimately missed the opening round in australia and was replaced with kevin magnussen the crash was never shown in any broadcast and mclaren refused to say specifically what caused what was apparently quite a serious accident leading to speculation that it could have been anything from alonso blacking out from an epileptic fit to being electrocuted by the car's ers mclaren eventually declared that there was no mechanical failure and they believed the accident to have been caused by unusually gusty winds photographs of the car showed tyre markings not consistent with a regular spin and amateur footage captured the car grinding to a halt after the impacts as he missed australia it took a month before alonso gave his side of the story during the press conference at sephang he said he remembered the crash and contradicted the team by saying there was no wind and it was indeed a mechanical failure claiming that the steering locked sebastian vessel was driving behind alonso when the crash happened and said it looked unusual as alonso was going relatively slowly and suddenly veered sharply to the right after he's gone to hospital mclaren initially said he was uninjured then eric boulier and ron dennis said he was concussed and rumors started coming out that he had suffered profound memory loss waking up in hospital speaking italian and thinking he still drove for ferrari or even thinking he was 13 saying i'm fernando i race cars and i want to be a formula one driver the crash was caught on both tracks cctv and alonso and vettel's on-board cameras but the footage was seized by the faa for their investigation having never been published and probably never will be monkeys can drive f1 cars i first thought this was a reference to everyone's favorite press conference question but if it is then that journalist got the dates in his famous recitation wrong in the early 2000s some of the electronic driver aids which had been banned 10 years earlier were brought back including traction control launch control and fully automatic transmission with this came unparalleled dominance from michael schumacher and ferrari which led nikki louder and nigel mansell to claim that monkeys could drive these cars a lot of the drivers agreed that the cars had become too easy to drive and after in only a couple of years launch control was banned and they went back to sequential gearboxes and a few years after that traction control was banned as well [Music] roy nassani i wasn't sure if this was referring to anything specifically or just roy nassani in general so here goes roy nassani is an israeli racing driver who is currently in his fourth season in formula 2. his father chanok is a retired racing driver who began racing age 38. three years later in 2005 he was made a test driver for minardi he was their third driver during the hungarian grand prix weekend and drove the car on his 42nd birthday where he initially complained that the slowest car on the grid had too much grip set aside six seconds slower than teammate christian albers and then spun off into the gravel and couldn't remove the steering wheel so had to be carried away in the car by the recovery crane roy started racing at the much more typical age of six he moved out to single seaters aged 16 and over the next four years won only one race but was still made a test driver for sauber four years after this he moved up to formula two and then drive the williams driver academy after getting sponsored by canadian israeli billionaire sylvan adams in his four years in formula two he has scored only 30 points and achieved one podium finish he also made six fp1 outings for williams in 2020 and 2021 and drove in pre-season testing in 2021 in place of more notable wda drivers such as jack akin dan tictum and jamie chadwick who between them did a grand total of one fp1 outing despite winning only five races in his entire junior career and none in formula two he has got more mileage in formula one cars than basically every other formula two driver combined because cash is king sofia flush sex breakfast of champions notorious womanizer and part-time formula one driver james hunt used to have a badge stitched his overalls which said sex breakfast of champions in 2018 then european formula 3 driver sofia flush posted a photo on instagram of her wearing a jacket with the famous badge stitched onto it she also carried a sticker of it on her car which she raced in adac formula 4. she was 15 at the time every driver is a pay driver i mean to a degree this is true formula 1 has gradually got more and more expensive over time and these days no matter how fast you are you will never get a seat without some serious financial backing lance stroll nicolas sattifi and jogwan yu are the most obvious examples of pay drivers on the current grid stroll and tiffy both have billionaire fathers joe does not but has 40 million dollars worth of money behind him from the ccp which is how he got the final seat in f1 over oscar piastre even though piastre's dad has a net worth of 1.5 million dollars himself lando norris's dad has a net worth of over 200 million pounds but nobody would ever describe norris as a pay driver as he had a lot of success in his junior career even if he has always had access to top tier machinery and mechanics sebastian vettel and lewis hamilton are a bit more old school they both came from lower middle class families and had to fund their early racing years themselves at a time when casting was far cheaper mined until they eventually got picked up by driver academies setting them up for life as long as they were able to consistently deliver results which they were as such neither of them has ever needed to have their own personal sponsors seda was a nonce um okay so looking into this i found out that in 1985 when he was 25 years old ias and senna started dating a girl called adrian yamin who was 15 at the time the age of consent in brazil is 14 so this wasn't illegal but it's still creepy losing hair equals losing speed a lot of people were shocked when pitchers were leaked to vettel seat fitting with aston martin in early 2021 that showed the extent of his hair loss which would remain hidden under his ferrari cap for the previous few years as his largely fruitless years of ferrari after winning four straight titles with red bull appeared to have aged him considerably in his time as a mclaren driver lewis hamilton had a buzz cut that after a few years of post-championship struggles was noticeably thinning and receding but now as a mercedes driver and seven time champion has a full head of hair with his distinctive cornrows and braids since leaving the scuderia vettel's hair appears to have grown back with a vengeance but considering how much money he has to afford both a high quality hair transplant and a decent haircut it still looks bloody awful masa was faster okay so this i assume is harking back to a pointer from tier 2. in short no he wasn't he was half a second slower than alonso in qualifying he got lucky with a good start but was unable to shake alonzo in the entire race and locked up several times on the prime tire until not so subtly letting alonzo through when ordered case closed finish racing jeans finland as a country does seem to be unique in its approach to driving partly because of the country's unforgiving geography and also because of the culture of the people along with the other scandinavian countries finnish drivers have had a lot of success in rallying when you live that far north you do need to learn how to drive on ice in formula one they also stand out as pound for pound finland is by far the most successful nation in formula one history it's a country of five and a half million that has produced only nine formula one drivers but of those nine drivers eight have started a race five have won a race and three have won the championship for comparison the united kingdom a country of 66 million has produced 164 formula 1 drivers 149 of them have started a race 19 of them have won a race and 10 of them have won the championship where does this unprecedented success come from in a country with no finnish grand prix and only a single fia grade 1 circuit well a lot of it is the culture due to the country's rugged terrain which for a large part of the year is covered in snow the driving standards for motorists are very high in more rural areas a lot of the roads are unpaved and it takes more than two years to get a full driver's license during which time you have an interim license and have to do sessions on skid pans night time lessons city driving theory exams and even simulator work outside of cars the finns excel at winter sports and have collected hundreds of medals at the olympic games mostly in skiing events so that competitive mindset is in the psyche drivers like tommy mackinnon yuha kankenan and ari watanan are household names in rallying but formula one is a bit different it's not an off-road discipline and ninety percent of the time the track is bone dry a lot of the skill here comes from their mindset most budding finnish racing drivers go through intensive coaching in their formative years usually from more senior drivers kk rosberg coached mika hakkanen and jj leto for example and there is also the concept of sisu which loosely translates as courage it typically means showing great resilience in the face of adversity and great bravery grit and hardiness historically it can be used to symbolize their unexpected defeat of the mighty red army in the winter war of 1939 and 1940 and within formula one it means having the confidence to break later get on the power earlier make high-risk moves on other drivers and push the car to its limits kecki rosberg often shook his cars to bits and for many years held the record for the highest average speed lap in formula one miguel hackney had amazing race pace which he needed to be able to defeat michael schumacher and valtteri bottas while not the best in wheel-to-wheel racing excels over one lap and as lewis hamilton's teammate was only marginally slower in qualifying the notion of erasing gene is a bit of a gray area finland's geographical isolation and relative homogeneity of people means that it's both linguistically and ethnically unique the finnish language along with estonian and hungarian is part of the finnouranic language family whereas every other native european language except for maltese is part of the indo-european language family the sami are a unique minority ethnic group that mostly live in the very northern regions of lapland and most finns have ancestry that originates from migration from the russian tundra and central asian steppe whereas for most of the europeans it comes from migration from more southerly areas such as the caucasus region and the levant so they're genetically unique from western europeans but there's no real evidence of a racing gene so to speak or at least not one that isn't found elsewhere but they just take driving and racing very seriously tier viii now we're really starting to go to some dark places alonzo died in a plane crash in january 2009 fernando alonso and his then wife raquel de rosario were involved in a small plane crash when departing in their private jet from melinda airport in kenya after spending time at flavia briatori's resort there to resent to spain shortly after takeoff the plane's right hand wing clipped the side of a building the plane was landed safely and everyone was unharmed and alonso and his wife departed for spain the following day however alonso's agent then contradicted this account by saying that alonso wasn't even in the plane at the time and that the accident took place on the ground while the plane was taxiing nine years later alonzo revealed that he once googled himself and found out about this accident which he also said never happened there's not much on it online but this led to jokes that alonso googled himself and found out that he'd been dead for several years senna was sniped the full details surrounding what exactly caused ayet and senna's fatal accident are unclear a large number of court cases against williams took place in its aftermath and eventually 13 years later it was declared that the official cause of the accident was the cast steering column breaking however footage from michael schumacher's car behind him and telemetry data showed that the cast suffered a snap oversteer upon entry to tamborello which cena then corrected reducing the throttle at the same time then slammed on the brakes and went into the barriers which is not consistent with the steering column failure unless the failure took place as a result of the snap oversteer the car was also seen bottoming out over a bump on the circuit patrick head and damon hill both blamed driver error for the crash and adrian newey further suggested that there was a puncture which caused the loss of control or more plausibly a loss of tyre pressure as senna was complaining behind the safety car that it was not driving fast enough for him and the other drivers to get adequate tire temperatures one thing that does not help with eventually finding out the truth is that an unidentified person immediately sees the car's black box after it was returned to the williams garage and it has never been seen again and that the car itself has since been destroyed one of the more outlandish theories is that senna was assassinated by a sniper in the accident cena was struck on the helmet by the front right wheel which slammed his head against the headrest as well as this two suspension components penetrated the helmet and the visor causing massive blood loss any one of these three injuries alone would have been fatal and also would have been prevented by the halo as i have discussed in a previous video the idea that he was sniped comes from the fact that the puncture holes in the helmet were the right size for a bullet and that apparently in the crash footage his head appears to slump to the side before the impacts with the wall and that the engine note sounds less like breaking and more like just slowing down there were no grandstands at tamparello and it was lined with trees which would be a perfect sniping spot and the sound of the bullet could easily be drowned out by the car's deafening pre-hybrid engines but you'd have to be a bloody good shot to get a perfect head shot on a target moving at 190 miles per hour the reason for the assassination apparently comes from it taking place on the anniversary of the formation of the illuminati and they wanted him dead because of his philanthropic work as soon as the illuminati are mentioned i think we can throw this idea out eriksen hit grosjean no he did not but they did collide at the start of the chinese grand prix in 2016 and again during practice for the honda indy 200 in 2021 leclair's sacrifices when i first googled this i found an article conspiracy that i think this is referring to which i then couldn't find when i looked again but i still remember the gist of it charla clare is someone who's had a lot of bad luck on track and a pretty sordid personal life off track at the conclusion of his first year in single seaters in 2014 he finished a runner-up in the form of a renault 2.0 alps championship to dick devries and was also crowned junior champion but that was the same weekend that his godfather journey suffered his eventually fatal accident as suzuka in mid-2017 his father herve died and four years later he got poled the win and the fastest lap in the formula two feature race at baku and then finished second in the sprint race the following day eventually going on to become champion at the belgian grand prix in 2019 his close friend antoine hubert was killed in the formula two feature race on saturday and the following day leclaire won his first grand prix i think you can see where this is going but yeah i think these are just coincidences unless something major happens before he wins the title f1 officials in epstein's book in 2019 jeffrey epstein who didn't kill himself had his famed black book published which contained an exhaustive list of his contacts all members of the wealthy elite and high society amongst those names are alejandro gag former ceo of the adex gp2 team and current ceo of formula e alan de cadenae motoring tv presenter and former sports car driver bernie ecclestone the og mr f1 flavio briatori the disgrace of benaton and renault boss eddie irvine ex jordan ferrari and jaguar driver jack veal nerve the 1997 champion and lawrence stroll daddy's cash it should be noted though that none of their names appear on the flight locks for the lolita express on its journey to nonce island wce is better i mean you can think that if you want but you'd be wrong imagine formula one in the hybrid era but without ferrari and red bull that's wec gimme gimme appears to just be a nickname for kimi raikkonen from his fans that make memes about him yeah not really sure what else to say about this one f3 isn't equal this is the same basic principle as f2 as an equal though i'm not sure why it gets to be all the way down here perhaps the gaps are magnified because the grid is 50 larger and the driving standards are much worse mick is ralph's son i can find literally nothing on this very low quality attempt to conspiracy theory ralph has a son of his own and just as he was the slower brother david is the slower cousin [Music] well that was interesting and just a bit of fun i say a bit of fun 14 000 words of it does help though to remind you of how many controversies and scandals alonso and hamilton have been involved in anyway that's
