hey what's up guys welcome back to another video and it looks like my first two mortal kombat ranking videos were hit and some people pointed out that i was missing some of the ports so that's why i decided to make a video on the forgotten mortal kombat ports and only forgotten because i forgot to cover them and by the way i am not including the midway arcade treasures ports because those ports are gonna get their own video in the future and now let's start with the sega cd port of mortal kombat 1. the sega cd port of mk1 was developed by probe just like the genesis version and it was released in 1994 and it's nearly the same as the genesis port but with some differences when you start the game there's an fmv cutscene and it's just the mortal monday commercial from 1993 but in sega cd quality and the sega cd port is completely uncensored and it contains all the blood and fatalities from the arcade version without needing a blood code to be entered and it has a lot more voice samples than the genesis version and there's a lot more animation on the characters but the sprites are still smaller than the arcade version and it also includes the arcade soundtrack but it's in the wrong order and i really like that loading prepared a fight screen between every fight and yes there is load times but the only time the loading becomes a problem is during the final battle with shang tsung when the game freezes up for a second during shang tsung's morphs but besides from those minor complaints the sega cd port of mk1 is a very flawless port and it's the best home conversion of mk1 and i would highly recommend it now let's move on to mk1 on amiga mk1 on amiga was developed by probe and published by version interactive and it was released in 1994 and it has smaller sprites like the console version and there's less colors on the amiga version due to the smaller color palette of the amiga hardware and if you thought the genesis was bad with only three buttons on the standard controller yeah the amiga only has two buttons and some games on amiga only supported like one button on the joystick but at least with mortal kombat 2 it supports two buttons and there's also only one song in the whole game like it's a good track but it gets old really quickly but besides from the complaints the amiga version is extremely impressive for the time even with the limitations the amiga has awesome sound effects and it includes every voice sample and the character bios are all here with animations just like the sega cd port all in all like the amiga port is very hard to judge yes it's not a great port of mortal kombat but considering the limitations of the amiga hardware it could have been worse and it's still playable and now let's move on to the ms-dos port there are so many different versions of this game on dos like and it's hard to figure out like the release date for this port some versions were supposedly released in 1993 but later versions came out in 1994 so the two versions we'll be looking at are the latest floppy disk version and the cd-rom version just looking at it visually it looks as close to the arcade version as you can possibly get on a home port it has way more colors than all the home console ports and the background animations look really good and it has every voice sample and the music on the cd rom version sounds great because it has the arcade soundtrack and the floppy disk version like has a midi soundtrack and to be honest i don't really like it that much and there's also some minor screen issues but besides that the ms-dos is a flawless port and it's probably the best port of mortal kombat 1 and i would highly recommend the cd-rom version but the only thing is like the cd-rom version is extremely rare and hard to come by like to get it physically but it's also available on cog for like six bucks and it's the cd-rom version so i would highly recommend this version and so now let's move on to the mortal kombat 2 port so i forgot to mention in my last video mortal kombat 2 on amiga was again developed by probe and this time was published by acclaim the amiga port of mk2 is still really impressive considering the limitations of the amiga hardware but there is some issues like some of the voice samples are missing in this version but that's not a huge deal unlike the first mk there's actually more music in the support and it sounds great just take a listen to the intro on this version the animation for the characters is not as sharp as the first game and the gameplay is extremely choppy but like every level is still included and all 12 characters are included too but the worst part about this port are the extremely long load times with playing it on real hardware even though mortal kombat 2 is very impressive for the amiga hardware like it's very tough to recommend this port with all the flaws moving on to the ms-dos port mortal kombat 2 on dos was again developed by probe and it's a nearly flawless support of the arcade original but there's one major flaw it has the midi soundtrack and it does not sound good at all and it's identical on both the cd and the cd-rom version so you can't get the arcade soundtrack on dos but besides from the soundtrack issue the dos version is one of the best ports of mortal kombat 2. like the graphics look really good and it's really close to the arcade version and the voice samples sound great too and fun fact like the ps1 and saturn version is actually based off this version like it has the same midi music same menus and everything or says music is a little different but it's kind of the same like overall the ms-dos version is a decent port but the midi soundtrack is the only thing that kills it for me but if you like the midi soundtrack that is completely fine moving on to some obscure ports of mortal kombat 3 and ultimate mortal kombat 3. it's safe to say real quick that nobody won when it came to portable mortal kombat 3 because both the game boy and game gear versions of mk3 are awful at first i didn't even know there was a game gear port of mk3 that's because it was only released in europe and at least what i can tell by these ebay listings only barely it was planned for release in north america but it was cancelled and it's not hard to see why compared to all the other games of mortal kombat on game gear mk3 is not good there's no music in this version and the gameplay is extremely slow and sloppy and the controls are extremely delayed at times and it's just like the game boy version where it lacks the full raster from the arcade version and the sound effects in this version sound like they come from the atari 2600 overall the game gear version of mk3 is trash and i would not recommend it and it's much worse than the game boy version but hey at least it's not as bad as the sega master system version mortal kombat 3 was developed and published by tech toy and it was released for the sega master system in 1996 exclusively in brazil and oh god it's awful it's basically a conversion of the game gear version but it's surprisingly worse the controls are extremely unresponsive and it's almost as bad as mortal kombat 1 on game boy and that's saying something and the game runs like extremely slow and it runs at like 2 fps and it's extremely sloppy and there's actually music in this version and it's not good at all and but the one good thing i have to say about the sport is the graphics might look impressive for sega master system standards but that's the only positive thing i can say about this port like everything else on this port is terrible and it's unplayable and i don't know how this got an official release and yes like i know it was only released in brazil and really late in the system's life but i still do not recommend this port and it's definitely not worth the price that it goes for on ebay let's move on to ultimate mortal kombat 3 for the sega saturn ultimate mortal kombat 3 on sega saturn was developed by eurocom and published by williams entertainment and it was released in june of 1996 and is directly based off of the port of mk3 that was released on playstation and pc it has the same graphics and it has the same menu system from mk3 on ps1 and pc and since the intro from the arcade version is not included rain does not appear in the game yet the combat code rain can be found in the graveyard is still displayed it also contains several elements of mk3 that were removed for the arcade version of umk3 such as the bank level and noob cybot being shadow kano and as an mk3 like not the black ninja as the arcade version of umk3 there are also a few new combat codes but several that they were present in the arcade release no longer work the secret characters can be unlocked via a secret option screens eliminating the need to enter three separate combat codes to unlock them and it's much faster especially since the unlocked characters cannot be saved in this version the combat codes themselves have also been changed to have 6 slots instead of 10. ultimate mortal kombat 3 on sega saturn is a near flawless port and it's the best port of umk3 of its time but there is some load time so i'm playing a shang tsung but that's in all of the earlier cd based ports immortal combat so it's not a huge issue but besides that it's a near arcade perfect port and i would highly recommend it hey everybody i just wanted to say thank you for getting this far in the video and it really took a bit to take a look at eight different ports from the mortal kombat series and in my first two mortal kombat ranking videos i know i missed some of the ports so that's why i decided to make this video so i can cover the ports of the first two games that i missed and along with the ports of mortal kombat 3 and ultimate mortal kombat 3 that no one really talks about and i plan on making a video on ranking the mortal kombat 3 ports and since i probably won't make a ranking umk3 ports video these are some ports that aren't really forgotten but i'm gonna cover them anyway but so now here's ultimate mortal kombat 3 for the super nintendo and sega genesis ultimate mortal kombat 3 on super nintendo and sega genesis were released in october of 1996 and both versions were developed by avalanche software and published by williams entertainment and it uses the source code from sculptured software's port of mk3 that was released a year earlier in 1995 but some cuts had to be made due to the limitation of cartridge space and the hardware on genesis like for example shao khan no longer says the characters names and shiva was removed entirely and only the five new arcade backgrounds are featured and shao khan's lost treasure chest only contains 12 boxes instead of 12. also many changes affect the finishing moves in the game rain and noob cybot no longer have regular fatalities or finishing moves katana's kiss of death only inflates the opponent's head reusing the effects from cabal's air pump fatality sonia's friendship from mk3 is used as opposed from our friendship from the arcade version of umk3 air max head punch fatalities altered scorpion's hell razor fatality is different he takes the opponent back to the hell stage and he simply burns to an ash and is no longer censored like the arcade one animality finishing moves were also removed and ironically keeping the mercy move which also served as the requirement for animalities in mk3 and on the other hand a new finishing move called brutalities were introduced in which the player attacks a series of punches and kicks and results in the victim exploding which in my opinion is a awesome addition to the franchise and it's been improved in like every game ever since at the time some changes were actually improvements over the arcade version and both the snes and genesis version rain and noobs cybot were made into playable characters for the first time molina airmag and classic sub zero are playable out of the box motaro and shao khan are unlockable characters for two player fights although only one player can choose the boss at a given time unlike the snes version the genesis version features more stages in addition with five new ones it also contains the six original ones from mk3 including the subway bank rooftop soul chamber and temple and pit 3 which we're missing from the super nintendo version a cheat code allows access for three separate cheap menus where the player can drastically alter gameplay access hidden content or view character endings among other things overall the 16-bit version of ultimate mortal kombat 3 is a decent port for both the super nintendo and genesis but some changes had to be made due to the limitations of the 16-bit consoles but is still really fun to play and i would recommend buying this port well folks i hope you enjoyed watching this video on forgotten mortal kombat ports and that's all i have to say for this video thank you guys for watching comment like and subscribe and i will see you later peace out you
